No word on seriousness, but Marco Scandella left last night's game in PIT. The Sabres have had zero Thruway shuffles to or from Rochester, but Larry Pilut* is looking NHL-ready. (* He was D PoY in Sweden last year and seems to have adjusted well to the NA ice. He's in the top-five in overall scoring in the AHL; not bad for a defenseman.)

Forsberg out 4-6 weeks for Predators
Forward, leading scorer, has upper-body injury...

NASHVILLE -- Filip Forsberg will be out 4-6 weeks for the Nashville Predators with an upper-body injury.

The forward may have been injured Thursday in a 3-0 loss to the Arizona Coyotes. He was put on injured reserve before a 5-2 win against the Chicago Blackhawks on Saturday.

Nashville was already without injured forwards Viktor Arvidsson and Kyle Turris, and defenseman P.K. Subban.

"It's part of the game," Predators coach Peter Laviolette said. "Obviously it's big right now. It's different when you lose one and it was just [Arvidsson]. It was 'All right, well we'll juggle it up a little bit.' But I still think there was a real belief that we were going to be successful tonight."

Forward Eeli Tolvanen scored his first NHL goal after being called up from Milwaukee of the American Hockey League on Saturday, and forward Anthony Richard played 7:22 in his NHL debut.

"Opportunity for guys like [Tolvanen and Richard] coming up here," Laviolette said. "I thought [Richard] played a good game. Guys moving up the lineup, guys getting on the power play. Ryan Hartman delivered an excellent game tonight. Everybody did. So I think that's what you need. When you have those players out of the lineup, I think it's really important that other guys grab the rope."

Forsberg led the Predators with 14 goals and 22 points in 26 games this season but scored two goals in his past eight games. He had 64 points (26 goals, 39 assists) in 64 games last season.

"It's huge motivation," Forsberg linemate Ryan Johansen said. "Like the two young guys [Tolvanen and Richard], you've got to step up. Guys need to step up, including myself, [goaltender Pekka Rinne and defenseman Roman Josi], throughout our whole lineup. We need everyone stepping up right now, and that'll be motivation every game." UPDATE: #Coyotes forward Michael Grabner suffered an eye injury during the first period of last night's game vs. St. Louis. He will be out of the lineup indefinitely while he recovers from the injury.

Coyotes forward Michael Grabner just posted this photo on Instagram. It's ugly and it's clearly his left eye that took the brunt of Blues forward Sammy Blais' stick. No official update yet from the Coyotes on his prognosis:

    Coyotes goalie Raanta out indefinitely

GLENDALE, Ariz. — Arizona Coyotes goalie Antti Raanta is out indefinitely and could miss the rest of the season with a lower-body injury.

Coyotes general manager John Chayka said on Sunday that Raanta had a procedure on the injury that revealed more damage than originally thought.

After he was a late scratch for Saturday’s game, the San Jose Sharks have announced that defenseman Erik Karlsson will be shut down until the All-Star break, missing the team’s next two games on Monday and Tuesday due to an undisclosed lower-body injury.

While he will miss the upcoming games against the Florida Panthers and Washington Capitals, coach Pete DeBoer said on Monday that it is still possible that Karlsson could play in this weekend’s All-Star game which will be held in San Jose.

“I just want to get him healthy, so if he’s healthy enough, I would hope he’ll play,” DeBoer said via NHL.com. “And I know he would play. Let’s cross our fingers and hope that he’s healthy enough to play.”

The team announced that Koivu suffered tears to the MCL and ACL of his right knee during Tuesday’s 5-4 shootout loss to the Buffalo Sabres.

Koivu, 35, has been such a two-way presence that plenty have argued that he deserved more Selke hype over the years. The Finnish center has long been a strong presence in the faceoff circle, and the Wild will need to find a way to replace the 18:18 minutes per night he provided.

Penguins coach Mike Sullivan said that Murray didn’t miss a Wednesday practice because of a maintenance day, instead deeming it an upper-body injury that leaves Murray day-to-day. On the bright side, Sullivan said it was not a concussion, according to reports including Penguins Inside Scoop.
