How serious is he injured?

 

uh oh... I see he was concussed at practice Friday. This is not good for the Kid' or the Penguins (or my freekin fantasy team).

 

Crosby totally healthy in the WC, but gets concussion in pre-season.

Looks bad for Eichel

 

Crosby was skating on his own today.

 

If Eich is lost for an extended period ... well, we all know that spells very bad news for the Buffalo Sabres. Alex Nylander is extremely fast, and in time will compliment Jack. But he is just not physically ready for the NHL. There's no one that can step in to Jack's role, and that's not a slam of the Sabres' roster.

 

Big shock McQuaid is injured.

 

This is extremely preliminary, but Eichel appears to have a high ankle sprain. That's very serious. In a wildly optimistic case he would be out "only" 6-8 weeks. Most likely Jack is going to miss over 30 games; perhaps half a season.

Better for Buffalo to have another year of suckage. Too much bad money on the books, better to use the opportunities to absorb more crap for assets. A top 10 overall pick will land a very good roster return and somebody will be looking for a reset with good roster players.
I think Buffalo already has too much of a climb up hill. At least now fan expectations are low and they can have a good 2nd half with a 9th overall or something.
