It's going to be close. Toronto is a in a strong spot at +10 in w-l with 2 games in hand on the Panthers. It might be 4 or 5 teams fighting for the 8th spot...although I don't put it by Ottawa or MTL to fall back in the pack abruptly.

You're right. But, given the points as they stand, not only is the last wild card berth potentially available (currently held by Philly at 59, if I remember correctly), but so is the third place spot in the Atlantic (Boston holds it, but I think it's only a two point gap with Florida). And, as you said, Ottowa is potentially in danger of dropping, too. So I think you're right when you say there will be a number of teams in the mix, as so many of them are bunched as it is. But when you include Philly in that race, you're talking two playoff spots up for grabs (unless my late night math from last night is way off, which is possible).

One thing's for sure: it oughta be a lot of fun.

    It will be fun.
PHI taking some injuries and running into some snags.

I was glancing through the schedules. Florida is not very good on the road, and they have a real tough trip ahead of them. They have some fluff to finish the year, but I expect things will look worse before they look better over the next couple of weeks.

Flyers' Travis Konecny out 4-6 weeks with lower-body injury...

Jets' Tyler Myers out 6-8 weeks...

    Stafford set to return...

Agreed, hockeybob. Again, if they play the way they did against Anaheim, I expect them to come away from this next month or so better than one might think. They fought in that game - something that's been missing most of the year.

Keep an eye on Huby and Barkov starting tomorrow, to see how they respond to returning from injury over a consistent period, rather than just an isolated game.

Ericsson (defensemen Red Wings) suffered a broken wrist last night when boarded in the Caps game.

On a late hit that wasn't called!...... Justin Schultz was also knocked out of the game for almost 2 periods and the Pens had to play with 4 defensemen. I thought they were going to lose for sure. The Jets amped it up when they tied the game and knew they had the Pens with just 4 defensemen. Except they thought wrong and the Pens were lucky to escape.......

Just following up on these thoughts.
So much for FLA taking a hit before getting better.
Won 7 of their last 8, moved into the 3rd slot.

Yeah. Turns out they have kept playing how they did against the Ducks. Only loss in the last 8 was to LA, which they just avenged. And Huby and Barkov? How are they doing back from injury? Yeah, pretty good. Pretty good.

Niskanan, Orpick and Oshie are out for this Saturdays game. All have the ol' UBI or LBI thingy.

Lets see how deep the Capitals are!

I think Lombardi is going to have to land another wing to get Kopitar going offensively if that's going to happen.

With LA in 12', it was about sparking the offense, they'll need the same thing again this year imo.
