Whyd we drop Ryan Miller? He played Guard in college. He can't be worse than Cousins

Very anxious about tomorrow's game. Hate to feel like the season is on the line in week 2, but...... The schedule ahead looks a lot like an 0 fer, making this daunting game all the more critical.

Trying to believe there is a way, but not one I can see. We need Weeds to play at an NFL level, T Rich to be a big contributor, and our less than average WRs to at a minimum "catch balls" they get their hands on, and the D has to put this game on Flacco. Not that Flacco can't beat us through the air, but if we let Rice run wild, we've got no shot.

Anxious, yeah, that 's the kindest word I can come up with Saturday with a game vs Balt, the defending Super bowl winner, coming off an embarassing loss, and planning their SB celebration day with the Brown and Orange as their doormat.

Sounds like a Browns win to me.

  6. Round on me fellas! I'm watching the Bama/ Texas A & M game. I didn't realize Manziel was so small. He is now out of my QB wish list. Bridgewater, Boyd and maybe Mariota. The kid from UCLA looks good too. I have to agree with what someone said above. The Browns need to build the O-Line. Resign Mack and get a guard in here. Draft or free agency. Maybe both!!!!!!!!!

Even as Rob Chudzinski?s debut grew dark, the three-letter b-word rumbled through Electric Bill Stadium only in smatterings

It is much too early to boo, much.

It was not too early to bolt, en masse.

Spectators left in hundreds midway through the fourth quarter, in tens of thousands when Miami moved its lead to 23-10 lead with four minutes left.

In its own way, it was worse for one day than the body of work that got Pat Shurmur booed out of Browns Stadium.

Everyone wanted to believe ?Chud? had a chance to make this at least look better than the slop Browns fans have been offered.

    It didn?t.

It is as if the statute of limitations never expires on opening-day groaners. It has been seven years since the first play of the 2006 season was an 80-yard Charlie-Frye-to-Braylon-Edwards touchdown pass ? killed by a holding penalty against a new left tackle playing his first snap as a Brown.

This time it was a slow drip of deja vu.

The first few plays of the season were a Trent Richardson party. For the rest of the afternoon the offense deserved a flagrant-foul flag for roughing the eyeballs.

The Shurmur experiment was such a disappointment. Expectations were so grandiose as to greatness possible under a poobah with the gravitas of Mike Holmgren.

Jimmy Haslam was not impressed. Shurmur?s teams left fans depressed.

    Yet, Shurmur?s 2012 Browns averaged 314.3 yards a game and 18.9 points.

In Chudzinski?s first stand, the ?attack-style offense? hadn?t yet generated 200 yards prior to the aforementioned mass exodus, in a 23-10 loss to an underwhelming foe.

The offense was supposed to be so much more with old friends Chudzinski and Norv Turner reunited. Perhaps it will be.

Who, however, is betting on an owner fighting legal battles, a general manager formerly scraping by as a TV guy, a CEO who could play ?the world?s most mysterious football man? in a beer commercial, in a town that hasn?t seen 2-0 in 20 years?

In this climate, it?s so easy to disbelieve what only yesterday had stirred optimism.

If Turner is to be such a difference maker, how could he not do better than 1-for-14 on third downs even if he had built his offense from the night shift at Tower City Mall?

Fair or not, Turner faces a quick deluge of doubt. At age 61, can he still make his version of ancient Air Coryell fly in the brave new world of read option?

Chud? What makes him Chip Kelly?

Even if ?Norvzinski? is legit, what of the daunting question of whether BW3 is nearly enough QB?

If one forces one?s self to seek a bright side, it is there. Turner has done more with less.

One of the unsung masterpieces of recent NFL history is linked to the 2003 Dolphins? 10-6 record. Jay Fiedler started 11 games at quarterback. Brian Griese got the other five. Their coordinator was a man named Norv.

But that was a decade ago. Colin Kaepernick was 15 years old. What has Turner done for anyone lately?

If one means ?lately? as in last Sunday or last season, one sweats. If one digs a bit deeper, one might be encouraged.

As for 2012, Turner?s offense as head coach in San Diego ranked behind Shurmur?s and almost everyone else?s. Chudzinski coordinated a Carolina offense that went backward in its second year with 2011 No. 1 overall pick Cam Newton.

Chudzinski chalked his new team?s hideous debut up to ?developing players? who are ?learning how to play ? and how to play in the system.?

    ?We?ll get better.?

Turner seems to believe. This is his mantra:

?It starts with a system that?s extremely sound. It?s been proven over time. You go back to the ?70s with Coryell, and just keep going through all the different people that have been in the system, whether it was me, Ernie Zampese, Mike Martz ... there are some things we believe in.?

Results are worth believing in. They have been mixed with Turner and Chudzinski, but there is stuff there to hang their hats on.

Here?s a chart pointing to varying degrees of success and failure for Turner and Chudzinski over the previous six seasons.

Throughout that time, Turner was head coach of the Chargers, with Philip Rivers as his quarterback.

Chudzinski logged two-year chunks at three different stops, as offensive coordinator of the Browns (Derek Anderson was his QB for most of 2007, then lost the job to Brady Quinn midway through 2008); assistant head coach under Turner in San Diego (2009-10), and offensive coordinator in Carolina in 2011 and ?12 with Newton playing quarterback).

    ? 2012

Turner in San Diego: No. 31 in yards (297.2); No. 20 in points (21.9). Record, 7-9

Chudzinski in Carolina: No. 12 in yards (360.7), No. 18 in points (22.3). Record, 7-9

    ? 2011

Turner in San Diego: No. 6 in yards (393.1); No. 5 in points (tie, 25.4). Record, 8-8

Chudzinski in Carolina: No. 7 in yards (389.8); No. 5 in points (tie, 25.4). Record, 6-10

    ? 2010

Turner-Chudzinski in San Diego: No. 1 in yards (395.6); No. 2 in points (27.6). Record, 9-7

    ? 2009

Turner-Chudzinski in San Diego: No. 10 in yards (360.1); No. 4 in points (28.4). Record, 13-3

    ? 2008

Turner in San Diego: No. 11 in yards (349.0); No. 2 in points (27.4). Record, 8-8

Chudzinski in Cleveland: No. 31 in yards (249.1); No. 30 in points (14.5). Record, 4-12

    ? 2007

Turner in San Diego: No. 20 in yards (315.2); No. 5 in points (25.8). Record, 11-5

Chudzinski in Cleveland: No. 8 in yards (351.3); No. 8 in points (25.1). Record, 10-6

  8. Well will it be 11 straight wins over the Browns or an epic underdog win? Soon we will find out. Come on Brownies!

Has anybody mentioned we DONT HAVE AN O-LINE?? *WALL*

  12. 7-6 so far at the end of the 3rd qrt. It is apparent that the Ravens are not who they were. The line has given up 5 sacks here in 4 qrts. What's that the total of 10 in 8 qrts? Not very good. The only thing I've noticed these 2 games is we have a good tight end. I'm impressed with Cameron. Also our line is terrible. As bad as the line is we are still in this game. At least the Browns went for it on 4th down. I've seen Weeden make about 4 boneheaded throws. 1 were he missed a wide open receiver. Mingo has a sack and that's good to see. I'm beginning to think we have no offense. He went to San Francisco. Again I'm impressed with defense but the offense is still a long way. We need to win ugly here today. Heck we need a win, period.

WRs that can't get open in 1on1 coverage, and an O line that can't provide time, and a QB who can't make a decision. Fromula for failure.
So 16 points in 2 games. Who cares about Dawson leaving, We did him a favor.

Why does it always appear that the Opponent knows what we are running? No one is ever open in space, except Oby, and Weeds couldn't deliver.

We play D like we play the game, keep it close and then surrender the 3rd downs, and the TDs as the game gets Critical. I am so sick of watchng this formula year after year. Am I supposed to be pleased that we have held opponents to just of 17 1/2 ponts? Yeah us!

Do I blame TRich for not being able to get it going, or is this all about an O line that isn't very good, or an offensive scheme that is far to predictable, or WRs who wear D backs like a tight T shirt. dont' fight for the ball, and think they're playing volleyball when the ball hits their hands.

Hand me that syringe, I'm gonna need a sedative.

Oh and don't let me fail to mention the fact that we can't get a play called in time to run it, 3 times! I thought this was the O coach who was going to have us at the line with 15 clicks remaining. Oh wait that was a preseason plan.

And running a 3 yard route on fourth and 4. Does any of this remind you of, oh I don't know every season in recent memory?

Hope and Change? More like cope and pennies. Are you trying to beat the fan base into submission? If so, then at least that is working.

  17. I don't think Little would start on half the teams in the NFL. I don't think we have NFL WR's. QB or O-line either. As much as I was hoping for 6/7 wins this year it doesn't look like it will happen. The offense cant put the ball in the end zone. Like we should of sucked for Luck its time to suck for Bridgewater or Boyd. I don't want to blow another 1st rd. pick like we did on Weeden. Take one of those QB's let him learn and let Weeden keep getting his brains beat in. With my 2nd pick ITS A FREAKING GUARD! I dont care if Otto Graham was in there he would get beat up. Next year I'm going QB,G,WR!!!!!!!!! I would also sign a guard and WR! CB also. We could of realistically had Warmack and Honey Badger. Enough is enough with this mediocrity in drafting! I seriously know 10 guys that could of done a better job GMing this team. I'm tired of blowing top round picks. Mingo reminds me of Thomas. Meaning how many playoff games will he help you win? Will he even help get you there? With Thomas its NONE and NO! I like Thomas he is a good tackle but that didn't translate into wins or playoffs. Thomas pick to me is a failure. The poor guy chose the money over winning for his career. Good for him but its been pretty sad for us fans.

  18. Kid M.V.P. Ravens

Ed Dickson and Greg Little can go form their own "No Hands" team. Tough win against the Browns, and it was a fight as expected. It's no consolation when you have to deal with losing, but at some point this team should put the pieces together to get some more wins.
