Look, I'm on #TeamCody, have been from the beginning. But, long term, I still believe Kizer could end up being the best QB in this draft class. As long as he is given time to learn the system and not have to play early in his career. I believe he will be challenging Kessler as early as 2018 though.
Next years QB class appears to be loaded .I would hate to lose out on of them if Kessler and I haven't given up on the Stork maybe turning things around fall flat . some players are late bloomers . Jim Plunkett comes to mind . They have to get it right that's all I'm saying . Kiser wasn't that good at ND . or was it Kelley ?
Kiser WAS really good in 2015, then he lost 3 of his starting o-linemen, his starting TE, WR and RB..Not to mention the defensive losses....AND Kelly is a train wreck. I can't wait until they fire his ass. Regardless, I am hoping that we are in no position to draft a QB next year. That means Kessler and/or someone else has shown the ability to win football games. We could still be in position with Houston's pick, but honestly, I expect them to be back in the playoffs next season as well. We'll see, I'm trying not to think about the 2018 draft right now. I'm very excited about what this team did this off season right now.
DeShone Kizer as your first or second pick? Bad. DeShone Kizer as your fourth pick in the draft? Good. Plus, the situation should work out well (I say should because this is Cleveland and we've seen crazy crap happen) but Kizer on the bench may be the best thing for both Kessler and him. Cody should take a massive step forward (bold prediction: he finishes ranked as a Top 5 QB in efficiency, rating, and completions) and keeps Kizer on the bench learning and growing. If that comes to pass, the absolute worst-case scenario is we have a Jimmy Garoppolo situation where some team drafting at #1 overall is strongly considering shipping the pick for him. Matt Barkley and Christian Hackenberg were slam dunk first overall picks the year before they declared. Mitchell Trubisky was a red shirt junior who'd never started and was likely not on any radar prior to going #2 overall just this season. And yeah, we've heard about next years' crop, but... Josh Rosen is slight of frame and is coming off a surgery to his throwing shoulder[/*] Sam Darnold "looks" the part, but has only 10 starts and the slower throwing motion than any first round QB ever selected[/*] Jake Browning is productive but looked stinky against an elite defense and probably won't measure 6'1"[/*] Josh Allen is an athletic, big-framed thrower but makes questionable decisions and plays against sub-par competition[/*] Moral of the story is... these guys are going to get picked apart relentlessly. I would guess of the presumptive Top 4 - one returns to school, one falls completely out of the first round all together, and with the exception of possibly Allen, none end up being the first QB drafted in 2018. The Browns have three outcomes: 1. Cody Kessler excels, keeps DeShone Kizer on the bench, and secures the QB position. 2. Kessler fumbles, Kizer gets exposure, performs well enough and secures the QB position. 3. Kessler and Kizer fumble, Browns are bad again, draft a QB in the Top 3 next offseason. *BONUS* Kevin Hogan becomes the next Fran Tarkenton and [notify]Lyman[/notify] called it.
*SCRATCH* You forgot about Osweiler...the winningest QB the Browns have had since 1999... 14-10 the past two years, 58% inning percentage
Another crazy thought . what if the Stork turns it around ? what a nice problem to have . He didn't play bad when he was with the Donkeys. Hogan as Fran Tarkenton made me lol .I watched him growing up running around like a chicken with his head cut off . Let the games begin . kinda excited to see a 5-7 win team play .I never thought I would say that . I'm either brain washed *CRAZY* or all the losing and phuq ups I have seen since 95 have gotten the best of me . either way. WOOF WOOF WOOF !!
You know what sucks? Trolls...Trolls suck little..never mind, they just suck and guess what SPress is when he comes on a Browns board and makes a snide comment with ZERO content to it? He's a Troll...
If we had a Super Bowl-caliber defense, I would have thrown him in there. Truth be told, he's one of the worst QB's to ever suit up in the NFL. By most accounts, he's a horrific team player, very temperamental, and tough to coach. He's too tall to succeed in the NFL - no QB over 6'5" has ever been successful - and his decision making is so horrendous, it's like watching someone called up after just one redshirt season at college. No, I don't expect anything out of Brock Osweiler aside from a third round pick from some team desperate enough to make the move with a defense who can win 6-7 games by itself. With superstar wide receivers, historically awesome defenses, and premier QB mentors (O'Brien, Manning) to work with, he's been abysmal throughout his career. I'm not sure that Hue Jackson and Kenny Britt are going to somehow make the light "come on" for this walking bust.
That's a terrific addition to the conversation. Thank you for your meaningful, well-articulated post. [notify]SPress[/notify]...
The Browns have been rebuilding since the moment they were rebuilt in Cleveland, but owner Jimmy Haslam thinks this time, for real,?the winning is about to begin. Via Nate Ulrich of the Akron Beacon Journal, Haslam thinks things are going to be much better this season (and they can?t really get worse after going 1-15). ?The difference between this year and last year in terms of feeling in the building is noticeably different,? Haslam said. ?We were able to obviously to bring in some top-flight talent during the offseason, have what we believe to be a very successful draft and I?m highly confident that this will be the year when the Browns begin to turn around and perform at the level they should. ?I?m highly, highly confident we got the right guy to lead the ship, and that?s head coach Hue Jackson.? The Browns sticking by Jackson is admirable, since they stuck him with a roster largely devoid of professional players last season. But Haslam said he?s been impressed with the way his coach has kept things positive, and Jackson didn?t have any interest in dwelling in the past. ?I don?t even want to talk about last year, what [foundation] was set, because a lot of stuff wasn?t set,? Jackson said. ?I do feel better about [this year]. Our draft shows that we?ve put more quality talent on our team. I think it showed last year that our guys understood our process, and they worked hard. We just couldn?t seem to win because of it. ?Now, hopefully we have enough talent to where we can finish games and finish games better and finishing hopefully leads to winning. But at the end of day, all of this is about winning. It?s not about anything else. We need to see tangible wins in order for this organization to be moving forward.? At least they have the confidence of ownership, because it?s likely to be a process that extends beyond the coming season.
Well, someone had to tell that Richard-head to bugger off. Oh wait..........I thought it was teste......... Ummmm.............Never mind,,,,, *DRINK*
lbert Breer ? @AlbertBreer Per source, the owners just passed a resolution eliminating the 75-man cutdown. So now, there'll be just one cutdown day -- 90 to 53. 11:48 AM - 23 May 2017 This is insane . that many players hitting the bricks at once ??
That's why they have a guy named "Director of Pro Personnel". These guys have a rolling list of players currently under contract somewhere else that, if they become available, would be a fit on their roster. The head spinning starts when a surprise player gets released.
Pro Football Hall of Famer Cortez Kennedy has died at the age of 48. TMZ Sports first reported Kennedy's death in Orlando, Florida, where his family was traveling. The Orlando Police Department stated there was "nothing suspicious" regarding his death Kennedy, a defensive tackle, was selected third overall in the 1990 draft by the Seattle Seahawks and spent his entire 11-year career with the franchise. He earned eight Pro Bowl nods and made the All-Pro First Team three straight years from 1992 to 1994, and he was the 1992 NFL Defensive Player of the Year. Kennedy recorded 58 career sacks and 11 forced fumbles. He was inducted into the Seahawks Ring of Honor in 2006 and the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 2012.
Cody Kessler is hungry to win the Browns? starting quarterback job. He?s also probably just hungry. Kessler said he?s added a few pounds this offseason from his listed 215, but he?s leaner and more muscular thanks to a strict offseason regimen. ?My biggest focus was losing body fat weight and being a healthier weight than I was. Muscle was my main focus,? Kessler said, via Scott Patsko of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. ?It was tough eating the same thing every day, breakfast, lunch and dinner, snacks in between. The same thing over and over and over.? And it wasn?t exactly an inspiring set of meals. Between snacks of power bars and almonds and pretzels with peanut butter, Kessler at some nutrient-rich yet bland meals. Breakfast was two scrambled eggs, plain oatmeal made with water, two pieces of fruit, and milk and water. Lunch brought turkey sandwiches (provolone cheese but no condiments),?15 baby carrots, a banana, water and milk. Dinner was cooked chicken breast, spinach without dressing, whole wheat pasta with no sauce, and more milk and water. ?It was tough,? he admitted. ?But [team dietician Katy Meassick] is great with that and helped me out. I switched it up here and there maybe a couple days, different things. But it worked for me. I really stuck with it. ?As boring as it may sound, it?s something I was committed to and excited to do in this off-season. I really never committed myself to a meal plan that strict. It was tough but it was worth it.? Of course, the only thing leaner than his meal plan at the moment is the Browns depth chart at quarterback, so perhaps his spare existence will pay some benefits for him.
