There is a reason he went back into rehab, none of us know what that reason is.. Fact is, this team cannot afford to simply cut talent at this point. If he comes back, he should stay, but with the attitude that he will not be on the roster for long. Move on without him, if he is available and can help the team win so be it. If there is a team stupid enough to offer a draft pick, trade him. Otherwise, he is cheap labor. He has no influence in the locker room, so his presence really doesn't matter. If the coaches deem him a detriment in that department, do not hesitate, simply let him go. But, I don't see any reason he would negatively effect the locker room.
Take a look at Zona....u cut bait just like they did....he's not talent when he's sitting in his house
The poster boys for wasted talent... They both seemed bent, from the very beginning, on throwing it all away...Is it any wonder they became close friends?
I agree...but he also costs you NOTHING sitting in his house...Why is this even a story still? Until he returns, this news is not even news...
Stopper, In your opinion . . . Did the Cardinals release Daryl Washington because of the weed problems or because of the original domestic violence problem? Or both?
I agree that they were tired of his off field issues and decided to move on. But I suspect that the domestic violence carried more weight in their decision as every team deals with players and weed. Ray Rice pretty much doomed players with DV problems.
So here?s what the Browns currently have on the roster at WR: Kenny Britt: 104 games, 309 catches. James Wright: 24 games, 18 catches. Ricardo Louis: 16 games, 18 catches. Rashard Higgins: 16 games, 6 catches. Corey Coleman: 10 games, 33 catches. Jordan Payton: 4 games, 1 catch. Mario Alford: 4 games, 0 catches. Josh Boyce: 3 games, 9 catches. Rannell Hall: 1 game, 0 catches. Jordan Leslie: 0 games, 0 catches. Six of our WR's have combined for 16 NFL receptions. Three of them have never had a reception and Jordan Payton has just one...That's gotta be one of the most inexperienced WR units I've ever seen. Heaven forbid if Britt gets hurt. Looking at that, there's just no reason to cut Josh Gordon at this point, unless they have reason to believe he's taken a step back once again. Which might very well be the case, considering that it appears no agent wants anything to do with him right now... I know the Browns didn't want to be bullied by Terrelle Pryor, and I get that, but we better sure hope these 2nd year guys step up big....It's hard for me to look at that list of receivers and not think that we are gonna miss TP quite a bit...
Sad news.....RIP Michael Jackson http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...el-jackson-dies-in-motorcycle-crash-at-age-48
I still don't see the Pryor ordeal as bullying, it was a business decision, from both sides. The Browns have, as stated above, a lot of inexperienced players they would like to get up to speed if they do not have another player committed to this team. Pryor wanted a top receiver contract money, and did not even come close to what he expected on the open market. 1) Pryor wanted a prove it year 2) Browns want to grow their roster in experience. 1a.) Pryor gets what he wants and will re-enter free agency with another year of game film for GM/scouts to see. 2a.) Browns can get precious reps into the hands of players that would otherwise not see them if Pryor had been here for 1 year, then left in free agency...then the roster would be another year along, but the receiving corps would be in the same boat they are now, except for Britt. 1b.) 2018, Pryor could come out with a blockbuster contract with whomever feels they should pay the money...IF he performs above his level from 2016/2017 season. 2b.) Browns will be able to evaluate the current young crop of receivers to see if any of them have the skill set to contribute to making this roster better. If not, they can move on from them knowing they did their due diligence. Now...the list.... Kenny Britt: 104 games, 309 catches. 53 Man Roster James Wright: 24 games, 18 catches. Ricardo Louis: 16 games, 18 catches. 53 Man Roster Rashard Higgins: 16 games, 6 catches. 53 Man Roster Corey Coleman: 10 games, 33 catches. 53 Man Roster Jordan Payton: 4 games, 1 catch. Mario Alford: 4 games, 0 catches. Josh Boyce: 3 games, 9 catches. Rannell Hall: 1 game, 0 catches. Jordan Leslie: 0 games, 0 catches I personally believe there are 6 guys competing for 2 roster spots. I also believe Ricardo Lewis will have an expanded role in 2017. Those reps for him to grow into his skin would have been taken from him if Pryor was also signed to a one year deal with Britt. If anyone benefits from Pryor not signing, it's Lewis, imho.
Browns offered Pryor a solid four year deal, at approx $34M....He tried to muscle them into a one year "prove it" deal at $8M....Call it what ya want. Pryor was trying to bully Cleveland into getting things his way, that's the bottom line... I think it was a mistake to let him go to Washington....I understand the perspective of both parties....Cleveland didn't want to let the player dictate . My opinion - I'd rather have TP on a one year $8M "prove it" deal, ANY DAY, over Kenny Britt...TP is just scratching the surface. We know what Britt's ceiling is.
Reality is, we don't know anything about anything when it comes to the NFL... Reality is, most receivers coming into the league take at least 3 years to become a fruitful wide receiver...Britt became fruitful in year 1. I agree his ceiling is what it is, but he is capable of doing that year in and year out for the next 3-4 years. We don't really know that Pryor's ceiling is any higher than Britt's. They are both going to be 28 years old when the season kicks off, so scratching the surface is something Pryor really doesn't have a whole lot of time to waste... I agree I wanted Pryor back, but on standard terms, which is exactly what the Browns offered...not an exaggerated over payment that he was asking for... A one year deal, to me, doesn't get this team ready to challenge for the playoffs in 2018, it merely gives Pryor the ability to score a payday in 2018...which, by and large, works against the analytical model.
I appreciate the "reality" lesson, but you start out the post with, "we don't know anything about anything when it comes to the NFL"... - Then you describe to me what Kenny Britt is... - Then you tell me what Terrelle Pryor's ceiling might be....smh - And then we wrap it up with a final analysis that TP just doesn't "fit" the analytical model...lol! I'd love to see the "model" analytics team..(?) Look at the WR's we currently have on the roster. Are you kidding me?....A one yr deal for Pryor, might not have been ideal from an analytics standpoint, but it was needed from a FOOTBALL standpoint...
Corey Coleman is going to step up and be a star this year, but beyond him, that position is a major concern IMO. If the O-line can be as good as it looks on paper, and we can get that running game going consistently, then at least we give our QB, whomever it may be, an opportunity to succeed...It would be ideal if Higgins, Lewis or Payton emerged as a viable threat, but the numbers were so pedestrian last year, it's just hard to project...I'm honestly banking on our TE's to come through in a major way. There's no denying what Njoku brings to the table, but I think Browns are just as excited about Seth Devalve. One thing is certain. We sure do have an athletic tandem of pass catching TE's...The Browns offense will obviously hinge on the success of the QB...The talent is there for this to be a good offense....
YOU described what Britt is, I just agreed with you...Look I'm not trying to argue with you, I just stated my feelings that it was a business move on both sides. I'm obviously not as upset about it as you are...no big deal.. If you could comprehend what I wrote, rather than being upset that I didn't simply state you are 100% correct, you would realize, I never said Pryor doesn't fit the analytical model...I was talking about the deal he was looking for at $12M per year and his output justifying that. The analytical model with his production puts him about $8M per year and the Browns offered $8.5M per year...Analytically, it didn't make ANY sense at all to pay the player $12M for multiple years. On the other side of the coin, you say, simply pay the man on a one year deal. This team is attempting to get continuity. Paying a player on a one year deal to boost his self worth doesn't play into their plan analytically either. If they could get him at his proven value for multiple years, it makes sense. If he will only play for a one year contract, it makes more analytical sense to invest the effort into a player(s) that are planning to be here for multiple years. You are taking my single statement and applying other subject matter to it.
If Pryor really wanted to stay in Cleveland, he would have signed a long term deal. Tells me that TP is not quite the team player and leader the Browns need. imho, good bye and good riddance. The FO isn?t looking to add players who are just passing through.
Irish, trust me, I'm not upset at all. lol! Just discussing. I just thought it was kind of humorous the way you explained it all. Not arguing.....Who said we have to agree 100% of the time? I understand what you are saying about the analytics of it all, and that Pryor was a "business" move. It makes sense, from that viewpoint....It would also make sense IMO, to have a hungry ascending star WR playing his ass off on a one year prove it deal for us, regardless of of whether it fits perfectly within the parameters of the analytical model...We put the time in developing this guy. Nobody else was giving him a shot. If he had signed a $10M one year deal, I wouldn't even be talking about it, but he didn't. He's going to be a stud WR this year for the Washington Redskins on a contract that is roughly the same amount that we were going to pay him for this season... I just can't help but look at that group of WR's and be highly concerned.... Terrelle Pryor should still be a Cleveland Brown. He wanted to be a Cleveland Brown...In this particular situation, which is very unique given all the circumstances, I think it was a mistake to let him get away..
Shame on him for trying to make money at this thing. How dare he have a great season and put himself in position to capitalize...selfish bastard.
