of course Mr. Optimistic is the first to chime in...smh I see a win coming against Minnesota in our only scheduled regular season National TV appearance. What's so special about them? Plus, we are the "home" team in that one. So we got that goin for us....
Just in case anyone was wondering what Lawrence Vickers is up to these days..he is busy following my son on Instagram *BYE* Remember, 3rd and 1: Vickers off right guard - no gain; 4th and 1: Vickers off right guard - no gain; Turnover on downs!
I just read this a day or two ago and forgot to share it. If any of you don't want to buy the NFL package to watch Thursday night games and are already Amazon Prime members.........
And looking at the schedule, with the talent we have now on the roster........I'm thinking it'll be another 5-win season. We'll have to re-visit this next week after the draft is over. And again after mini-camps....and again after pre-season.......and again after the first game.......and again after......
Question(s) for some of you who are more tuned in than I: If the Browns don't take a QB this year, do you think they'll be trying to "tank" another season for another high draft pick and trade up (if needed) to get "their QB" in 2018? And do you think Hue Jackson and the FO have enough leash left with Haslam to draft next year and possibly still be around to have their "breakout" season in 2019 if it takes a year for the new guys to get up to speed? Or do any of you think that Haslam's patience will be wearing thin and we start this vicious 3-year cycle again if they can't start winning this year or next?
1. I believe the Browns will draft a QB next week. I just don't think they will reach for one of the "top 4". Nor should they. 2. I don't believe they tried to tank last season. 1-15 is what you end up with when you field dress the roster in the way it was done last year. No one will ever convince me they intentionally tanked the season to get the number 1 pick in the draft. 3. Hard to venture a guess about Haslam.
What do you mean...thats 2 more wins than your boy Kessler had all of last yr.....major improvement and that's after 8 games
Tenn has 2 top draft picks(5 n 18) and handled the Browns easily last yr...Minny has a great defense lead by the #3 pass defense in the league and a solid front 7
Agreed with Lyman. They'll draft a QB at some point, but I hope - and am starting to believe - it will happen in R3 - R4. Something like Peterman at #65 or Dobbs at #108. I could be proven wrong, but I believe that the ultimate goal is team-building. They even said at the on-set of this they were looking at a five-year project. To me, that doesn't mean you 'panic' and select a QB in a suspect class your second year in. If a team like Oakland is the model, McKenzie didn't select his QB until year three and even then, it was a second round guy, so not like they had to stretch and use a first round pick. If there was a slam-dunk quarterback in 2017, they'd take him. By all accounts, there isn't. They should stay the course with Kessler, Osweiler, a mid-round rookie, and Hogan (practice squad). I think the shortest leash belongs to Hue Jackson and even at that, they won't can him because of his personality and what that means to the "culture rebuild". The reality of the 1-15 season was a head coach who fell in love with a reclamation project (Bob Griffin), sculpted an offense to fit his strengths, and when the inevitable happened several games sooner than expected, the rest of the QBs on the roster couldn't execute that offense. Worse still, the interior of our offensive line was so pathetic that we couldn't keep a QB healthy. McCown with a decent line would have started more than three games. Kessler with a healthy line probably would have won several. In the offseason, they fixed the line - at least on paper - and spent there knowing that it wasn't a great offensive line draft. They need to add some weapons for the QB - whomever it ends up being - and I think they can have an offense that at least competes at an NFL level. I think calmer heads have finally prevailed. Now that she's officially a co-owner, I think (or at least hope) she has more say in those decisions. Let Jimmy run his rebate fraud company while Dee runs the show in Berea.
"Handled" - won 28-26. That's great they have two picks. What if they pull a Ray Farmer and draft a Justin Gilbert and Johnny Manziel? How does that help them widen that 2-point gap on the Browns? They do have a very good defense - and a very crappy offense. The games the NFL sends over to London are awful. Expect a 9-6 field goal fest. Since Minnesota can't kick field goals, I'm taking the Browns.
That is more what I was meaning in my question. Didn't imply that too well. Just about every mock draft has the Browns taking QB at 1.12, which the thought just horrifies me with the quality of this year's "top" QB's. I'd rather they just build and fill holes with the first 2-3 rounds and take a flyer mid-draft on a QB.
Oh SAS cmon my man this game was over at 28-13 w 4 mins left...the Browns accumulated 137 yds during that span and totaled 341 yds in the game...therefore they had 204 yds of offense until 4 mins left in the game...thats being handled...also they had 15 rushes 40 yds...Tenn was never in doubt
Thats the thinking Duff...keep taking fliers and then comeback w I wonder why that guy didnt work out...smh
I thought Pettine wanted Gilbert? Also, it seems like Tenn GM has a clue taking my boy Conklin #1 last yr....I tried telling everyone he wuld b a stud
