wow. That list blows me away. Too bad for Tim Couch that he didn't actually have an offense like that to support him....Can we throw KJ in the slot? I think you nailed that list. Just one question though .... no love for TJ Ward?
lol, It's Lyman's 4 year anniversary to the site bluez, not his birthday.... At least, I don't think it's his birthday...
That one name there is the long and short answer to why this team is as bad as it's been. Our best QB since 1999 was the one we drafted in 1999. Give me Joe. Both injury-marred careers with Cleveland, but Jones was a ball-hawk. 14 interceptions in 44 starts for Jones versus 5 interceptions in 54 starts for Ward. Sick to death of seeing our secondary torched because we have hitters where we need range guys. An "All-Expansion" Cleveland team is like picking out which venereal disease you want the most. They're basically all bad, you're just picking the least-worst of the bunch.
That defensive front seven is what gets me....Given the time frame, that is one forgettable list..I don't even know how you came up with some of those...Orpheus Roye? Well done.
Big Orpheus Roye fan. Actually, looking back through the roster history, this team was never constructed properly (I know, huge shock, right). Just one example is Roye, who was brought on board in 2000 when we were running a 4-3 scheme. He was a DE in Pittsburgh's 3-4 system. He statistically had his best years under Crennel in the 3-4 (not shocking), despite playing at ages 32 - 34. Coincidentally, two of the best defensive units we've fielded (relative term, since this is Cleveland), were during that time as well. A front-seven of (healthy): Rogers, Rubin, Roye with linebackers Sheard, Jackson, Davis, and Wimbley would have been something to behold. I don't want to sound like I've been drinking this early on a Monday, but they could honestly have been a really good defensive front. The roster has never had cohesion between multiple seasons. More than watching our home-grown talent leave in free agency (Ward, Sheard, Mitchell, etc.), the fact that no one ever looked top-to-bottom at the roster and had time to build it is really the larger issue. The Pro Bowlers may be more visible, but no one in the NFL has a roster completely made up of Pro Bowl players. Any F/O, given enough time, should be able to build a good roster. This one, in particular, should be even better-equipped.
Thanks Lyman.....and to the rest of you guys for keeping me coming back to read and reply. Has it really been 4 years since we all left SeeBS? *DRINK*
Here's to the hope that this F/O gets the needed time to make this happen instead of the usual time of 2 years when they usually get the Mr. Burns Trap Door Treatment. *DRINK*
I was just sitting on my deck minding my own business when the neighbor visited. My dog, never being politically correct begins to lick himself. My neighbor says, man I wish I could do that. Well you better pet him first, he's kind of mean.
So Hue Jackson says there is no way we would trade #1 overall for a QB...I'm happy to hear him say that...If you get a chance for a big time impact pass rushing beast, you don't hesitate. The fans will embrace it, and talk of the "bite" returning to the Browns defense will ensue...The jersey sales will literally be "OFF THE HOOK"...Cha-ching $$$!!! I have no doubt this is something they have been planning for a while.. It all sounds freakin great....What could go wrong? We gonna get our guy! An absolute pass rushing menace that is deemed worthy by the masses of the #1 overall selection... Then the reality of being a Browns fan sets in, and you just know in the back of your mind, that things COULD absolutely go wrong: "The Quiet Storm"
I just freakin died laughing. I tweeted out one of the articles on the site and one of those fake spam online hooker girls liked my tweet. That in itself is not unusual. It was that her name was "Victoria Lyman", I know it's just his handle and it used to be longer but I cracked up.
Hey! Just trying to have Mama contribute to the family income. :-* Thank you for the contribution, Joe!
