Heya fellas, hope you don't mind me stopping by! I wanted your thoughts on something: If the Browns select Myles Garrett first overall, is it possible that an Eli Manning situation could happen? I was thinking about this because I was reading an article where Garrett was essentially begging the Cowboys to trade up to the spot. As well as him saying he doesn't want to play in cold weather, skipping on the senior bowl, etc.
Well, I would hope the Browns dig deep at the interviews...Then, due to a sharp twist of fate, trade the #1 overall pick to the Bears and he ends up in an even colder city than Cleveland, with an even worse situation at QB than the Browns. Then take the better prospect in Jonathan Allen or Malik Hooker. One thing is for certain, he won't be playing in Texas come Sept.... As for the Senior Bowl, he wasn't invited because a) he wasn't a Senior and b) he isn't a college graduate...one of which is a prerequisite for attending the Senior Bowl... I believe you are probably referring to Deshaun Watson. I was upset the day I heard the news, but then listening to him in interviews, honestly, who could blame the kid? He, along with other Seniors from Alabama, explained their long season and wanting basically to decompress and get ready for the long process of being drafted. I don't blame him and in the end I doubt very much it will hurt his draft stock. In fact, after such a long season, without your heart into it, he could have really hurt his draft stock by not excelling past all expectations. As it pertains to the draft, he would have had more pressure in Mobile at the Senior Bowl, than he had at the National Championship game. I would be an absolute hypocrite if I held it against him, since my top player in this draft is Jonathan Allen, and he also skipped the Senior Bowl for the same reasons as Watson...as did Reuben Foster...The only player that had anything to gain by attending was O.J. Howard, who was borderline late 1st/early 2nd rounder...mission accomplished, I think he will easily be a top 20 guy now, he made some green for attending..
