That's what worries me Stopper, being as how there isn't someone available, I have a feeling they are going to retain RGIII...that's a scary thought going into 2017.

  2. Well IMO thats just setting the franchise back nother yr cause I think we all know hes not the future franchise QB...the guy cant stay healthy and just isnt good...I really dont think there is a franchise QB in the 1st round(dont like Trubisky, Watson or Kizer)....Im not sure what is out there in 2018...Falk(Wash St) is garbage, L. Jackson is a system QB, mayb the 2 kids out on the West Coast(Rosen or Darnold)...I just think college football is ruining these QBs for the NFL cause their mostly read option crap or 5 wide spread hurry up

I have been saying this for years now . I see the Niners canned Chip Kelley . thank God the Browns didn't hire that egotistical maniac and his sissy boy spread offense Horse shit .take that shit back to college where ya belong . the Buckeyes got there asses handed to them last night . there offense is offensive . Meyer and his sissy boy spread read option crap . NFL team figure that out real quick . its all about SMACKING your opponent in the phuquing mouth . Power game still wins and always will .

Despite a 1-15 record, owner Jimmy Haslam says the plan is to stay the course

    Fred Greetham

Browns owner said he has no plans to change course from the team's plan to rebuild from the ground up
A year after blowing up the organization after a season-ending loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, Browns owner Jimmy Haslam is trying something new.
    Staying the course.
While around the NFL, the day known as "Black Monday" appears to be a normal day for the Browns organization. Sashi Brown, Paul DePodesta and Hue Jackson are scheduled to meet with the media at 4:30 pm on Monday.
Nothing else has worked for the Browns, so despite the Browns having a franchise record worst record in team history of 1-15, Haslam said he's not going to blow up the plan after one season.?
"Clearly not an acceptable year,? Haslam said to reporters in Pittsburgh Sunday. ?Really since we bought the team, just totally unacceptable performance, which as ownership we?ll take the entire blame for. This year?s been disappointing but so are the other years.
?I do want to say this: Could not be more pleased with the job that Hue (Jackson) and his staff are doing," he said. "You wouldn?t think this was a team that was 1-14 that was out there battling. So really pleased with Hue and really pleased with our personnel group.?
When Haslam fired GM Ray Farmer and coach Mike Pettine after last season, it was the third overhaul under Haslam. He elevated Sashi Brown to Executive Vice President of Football Operations and brought in Paul DePodesta as Chief Strategy Officer. The Browns made a commitment to rely more on analytics.
?I think we have the right people in place,? Haslam said. ?It took us awhile to get there and I?ll take all the responsibility there. I think this time last year we said this was going to be multiyear rebuilding. It is.
?There?s really three keys going forward. It?s not that complicated. No. 1, we gotta re-sign our key players. No. 2, we?ve got to be appropriately aggressive in free agency. And No. 3, we?ve gotta have a great draft.?
With the majority of the Browns 2016 draft picks not making the impact on the team in their rookie seasons as hoped for, there was a national report on Sunday that said the Browns coaches wanted to bring in more help in the evaluating of personnel in the scouting report, but Jackson said he and Brown are on the same page.
?Me and Sashi are in lockstep trying to get this football team to be the best it is,? Jackson said. ?We?re going to get there. That?s all I can tell you.
?We have to get better at what we?re doing and we all understand that. This is hurtful for the whole organization, not just me, but Sashi and Jimmy Haslam and Dee Haslam and Paul DePodesta and Andrew Berry, too. We?re all in this together. There?s no divide here.?

Well at least we got a win AND the #1 overall pick to either make or use as a bargaining chip..

    Amen brother Amen

*HELP* *HELP* @= @= *HELP* *HELP*

Until they build an offensive line that isn't so offensive any "franchise" QB they pick will get Couched. *ROSE*

At this point I'm willing to go with the devil we know. If they can put an o-line in front of him that can actually pass protect. Stop getting cute with play calling. There are a few things to build on. The run game could actually be a solid building block (Crow's ave ypc is 4.8) and help any QB they put under center if they'd give the guy more than 12 carries per game.

Again without an O-line you'll continually put the franchise back. I sure hope the (anti)brain trust realizes what a major mistake it was to let both Schwartz and Mack go.

I agree that there isn't a QB I'd take in the 1st round either. But given the selections available. I'd lean toward Trubisky or Watson, but not with the #1 overall pick. Yet given there are 5-6 teams in the top 10 that need a QB including the first 3. Who's to say what will happen.

With as many holes as the Browns have to fill, I hope that they draft for talent and not positions of need. *BYE*

Here are the 2017 Home and Away opponents"

Home: Bengals, Ravens, Steelers, Jets, Jaguars, Titans, Packers, Vikings (in London)
Away: Bengals, Ravens, Steelers, Chargers, Texans, Colts, Bears, Lions

  12. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

    I'll add..

#32 and #52 (from Titans) in the second...

That gives us 5 picks in the top 65...at least, they haven't started wheeling and dealing yet...

With 5 picks that high, there should be no reason they can't help this defense and the oline improve from 2016. Add in their ability to add a couple of free agents with the amount of cap space available and this should be a viable 3 year turn around, with us improving in 2017 by at least 5 wins...

No one else in the league has the resources to improve as much as the Browns this off season.

  13. I disagree on one count...Tenn has picks #5 n #18 and finished the season 9-7...they will also get their starting OG back who played only 2 games(Warmack)

We get Titans 2nd round pick from the draft day trade in 2016 when we traded them our #8 overall..That 2017 2nd round pick is the #52 overall, or 20th pick of the 2nd round...

    So we have:
    1st round;
    #1 overall (our own)
    #12 overall (From Eagles)
    2nd round;
    #33 overall (our own)
    #52 overall (from Titans)
    3rd round
    #65 overall (our own)

That's 5 picks in the top 65...just like I stated...

I wish we were in good a shape as the Titans are .I love the way they play . smart physical smack you in the mouth football .

They will make some noise next season as they also have two first round picks . if your going to copy someone may it be the Titans .

I just can not believe how bad Hue Jackson gets, late in games. He said he wanted to win, but the coaching would seem to contradict that. I thought the late game strategy was atrocious, not unlike the Miami game earlier this season. The game was ours, on more than one occassion, and yet somehow it gets away. The Steelers were trying to give it to us, but they just couldn't keep up with our generosity, and overall complete ineptness. There was no reason for Crowell to be smashing into the teeth of the Steelers run blitz with a first and goal situation inside the 5 yard line, with less than a minute remaining. What kind of coaching is that if you are REALLY coaching to win??? Idk...It's just another horriffic unexplainable loss in a very forgettable season. I understand the "silver lining" in securing the #1 pick, and that means SQUAT to me in the face of another agonizing loss to our rivals. One that meant "so much" to Pittsburgh that they benched all their key players.....smh. That was as bad as any loss I've ever witnessed, and it sure as hell doesn't fill me with confidence heading into the offseason....

I agree with ya bluez that this team doesn't quit, and I applaud them for that, but when it's the final week of the regular season, and they still can't get out of their own way, it really makes me concerned about the coaching staff we have in place. Overall, I still like Hue Jackson, because in spite of all the misery, this team does play hard every Sunday. All the missed tackles, blown assignments, absurd penalties and straight up bad luck that follows this team is alarming...I don't want a "reset". Let's just say some "major adjustments" are needed. Particularly on the defense. It's scary how poorly this team tackles, but it's not just that. They are so often out of position and confused. The pursuit angles they take are just embarrassing at times...Let's at least get a defensive coordinator in here that can come up with a plan that our personnel can grasp. That's where I'd start...

Really? What kind of coaching calls for a run play inside the 5 on 1st and goal with :56 seconds left and 2 timeouts?

What is this world coming to? The coach is getting blamed for a Crowell fumble??

Wow...I really don't have words for this one TD

  18. I wasn't questioning that..what I was saying is Tenn is in great shape w 2 #1 picks and getting their stud OG back when their team just finished 9-7

  19. Did Pitt have TOs left?

Well let me explain. If you were coaching to WIN the game, ya simply take a knee three times (if necessary), drain the clock out on them, and kick the chip shot from 20 yards to win it. It's not a new thing. We've seen winning teams do this in post season games before... But clearly, IMO, we were not all that concerned with winning... It's not THAT big of a deal, and I'm not blaming the coach for Crowell fumbling. I'm blaming the coach for the call....We gambled, Got burned like always, and found a way to lose....I've seen players on good teams stop and take a knee in that situation to simply set up the game winner, and often times more importantly, to drain the clock so the other team has no time to retaliate....So I'm not sure why you acting like I'm just so bizarre with my thinking that you, "have no words"...
