Spot on Ken, I was thinking the same thing about the receivers and their off field issues this week...

...and always happy to talk a fellow Dawg off the bridge ;-)

The 49ers signed quarterback Seneca Wallace this week, a sure sign that they are less than thrilled with the options on hand to back up Colin Kaepernick this season.

It?s no big surprise, then, to hear that they?re trying to trade one of those players. Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports that the 49ers are trying to trade Colt McCoy, who they acquired from the Browns prior to the draft for a pair of draft choices. Should their attempts at swinging a deal be unsuccessful, the 49ers are expected to release McCoy.

Doing so and going with Wallace or Scott Tolzien would save the 49ers a little less than $1 million under the salary cap, although McCoy?s preseason performance has been dismal enough that finances are likely a secondary consideration. McCoy is 6-of-13 for 76 yards in two preseason games and he?s thrown a pair of interceptions. McCoy, Wallace, Tolzien and B.J. Cunningham are all expected to play against the Vikings on Sunday as the 49ers sort out the bottom rungs of their depth chart.

It?s hard to see too much of a clamor for McCoy?s services on the trade market, but Rapoport reports they are fielding calls from teams. The Bills and Jets are both reportedly interested in kicking the tires on veterans Matt Leinart and John Beck, so they may also be interested in McCoy?s services.

I liked Colt when he first started for us. I think he's a good guy, but a limited QB, and let's face it played for a poor team. That said he has had his shot, and frankly football isn't in his future.

He wasn't capable of overcoming adversity, or making a mediocre team better, so just another guy who doesn't have the kend of stuff physically or apparently as a leader to make it in the NFL.

I wish him success in whatever he pursues going forward. Good luck Colt. Thanks for giving it your best here.

  5. That was cute SAS, and I've kind of been waiting for someone to post something like this... For the first two games, the Browns have looked great, and a lot of people on these boards have been showing optimism about the season, but ever time someone showed any type of enthusiasm for the Browns upcoming season, you were there to remind them that, "It's just pre-season, and doesn't mean a thing!" BUT NOW that they have a sad showing in the PRE-SEASON, it means everything and you come on here saying, "See, I told you, they suck!".... can't have it both ways SAS, either you can't read anything into the preseason, or you can, not just when it suits your particular argument! MAKE UP YOUR DAMN MIND! *WALL*

I feel so confident that i am picking the Browns to win their opener against the Fish in my NFL Survivor league where if you play the homer card there you won't last long . we will win the opener this year ..finally .

No nitwit tossing his helmet no more great defensive efforts wasted this is the year we win the opener . the curse has been lifted . no more AL on the jersey .

A guy thought his wife was cheating on him.So he waited for her to leave that night and jumped in a cab to follow her. By following her he found out she was working in a whorehouse.
The guy says to the cabbie, "Wanna make a $ 100?" The cabbie says, "Sure, what do I have to do?".
The guy replied that all the cabbie has to do was go inside the whorehouse and grab his wife and put her in the back of the cab and take them home. So the cabbie goes in.
A couple of minutes later the whore house gets kicked open, and the cabbie is dragging this woman out who is kicking, biting, punching, and fighting all the way to the cab.
The cabbie opens the door to the cab, throws the girl inside, and tells the man, "Here hold her!!"...
The man looks down at the girl and says to the cabbie, "THIS AIN'T MY WIFE".
The cabbie replied, "I KNOW, IT'S MINE; I'M GOING BACK IN FOR YOURS!!".

I honestly think that the Colts game was the best thing that could have happened to the Browns. Reminds everyone that there is still plenty of work to be done. This is a football team that can't afford to get ahead of themselves. They need to stay grounded, and focus on the job at hand. Take things one week at a time and keep building....An undefeated preseason might have led to a bit of over-confidence heading into week one. No chance of that happening now....They were humbled a bit in Indy, and I don't think that's necessarily a bad thing.

If getting your ass handed to you = humbled . . . I agree.

  11. Saturday's game was quite "humbling" BUT, I will say, TRich once again looked good, and the pass rush looked pretty good, especially considering that Sheard, Bryant, and Mingo were all not playing... let's not forget to give alittle credit where it's due, Luck was really good in avoiding the pressure, by getting out of the pocket when it was collapsing and releasing the ball really fast! The secondary still scares the Chit outta me, but I'm not ready to say the sky is falling quite yet, my expectations are still high for this season and I still see good things out of them for this upcoming season!

    Updated at 5:38 p.m.

Paul Kruger, the Browns' $41 million marquee free agent signee, has never been cut from a football team. But he knows what it?s like now after reliving the experience with his younger brother, Dave.

Dave Kruger was among five roster cuts made by the Browns on Monday. The others were receiver Jordan Norwood, safety Vernon Kearney, receiver Cordell Roberson and linebacker Tommy Smith.

They also formally placed running back Dion Lewis on season-ending injured reserve. Lewis broke his left fibula in the Detroit game on Aug. 15 and had surgery.

These moves brought the Browns? roster to 82. They need to be at 75 by 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Dave Kruger, an undrafted free agent from Utah, was competing at left end on the defensive line -- the most loaded position group on the roster.

?It?s tough. It?s a competitive league,? said Paul Kruger. ?Especially on this team. We?ve got a bunch of animals in there.

?It?s hard to see somebody put a lot of effort and time and dedication into something then not have it work out. I think he learned a lot of valuable lessons. I think it?s gonna be a building experience for him.?

The Browns practice squad is always a possibility for Dave Kruger, but Paul doesn?t know what the future lies for his younger brother by four years.

Yet another Kruger, Joe, who is two years younger than Dave and six years younger than Paul, is still in the running for a defensive line spot with the Philadelphia Eagles. He is running third team at left end in the Eagles? 3-4 scheme.

Norwood, whose contract technically was "terminated," had trouble staying on the practice field in each of the three Browns training camps he attended. His departure improves the odds of Josh Cooper making the final roster. Cooper has had a good two weeks of practice. He had two catches in the Indianapolis game and has six for the preseason.

Practice stuff: Linebacker Jabaal Sheard, receiver Davone Bess and tight end Gary Barnidge returned to practice Monday after missing the Colts game ... Not yet ready to practice were cornerback Chris Owens (foot), defensive end Desmond Bryant (back), safety Jamoris Slaughter (groin) and kicker Brandon Bogotay (groin). Tight end Jordan Cameron (groin) also did not practice ... Linebacker Barkevious Mingo (lung) watched from the side

Losing this one doesn't bother me much. Listening to Browns on the air, I heard that our recievers looked less than mediocre, and seem to be unable to create separation. Little really is starting worry me, and with Bess not yet playing, and Gordon out.....

I hope the beat down gets their attention. A Luck was everything he could be, and that had to be part of why we looked so bad, so .... lesson learned?

Browns placed RB Montario Hardesty (knee surgery) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Hardesty's surgery was just a scope, but his lengthy injury history was working against him. It's possible he'll be cut loose with an injury settlement once he gets healthy. We should say, if he gets healthy. The Browns figure to improvise with Brandon Jackson and FB Chris Ogbonnaya behind Trent Richardson. Hardesty is just 26, but injuries are on the verge of chasing him out of the league less than four years after being a second-round pick.

One area I'd expect some trade activity: # Browns interior DLs. Lot of depth there on back end. Heard several teams have called and inquired

    Guard

    Free Saftey

    CB

    Running back with some quicks

a true FB ..To bad Marecic wasn't the same player i saw at Stanford where he was a throwback a beast on both sides of the ball . maybe the Browns should have switched him to ILB ?
