They were talking on the radio today about whether or not the Browns have any pro-bowl worthy players....I think an excellent case could be made for three players, and that would be Joe Thomas, Terrelle Pryor and Christian Kirksey.....comments?
I will be surprised if RGIII doesn't get the next start...and the one after that, etc... until he gets hurt again.
That wouldn't surprise me TD. Trubisky will probably be valued as a mid to late first making him an ideal target for a front office that will try to acquire picks and build the roster at the same time.
But, this is the NFL...in the end, I think Trubisky will be over drafted and go in the top 5. Along with Kizer and possibly one more QB...Too many teams at the top need QBs in a really bad way and although, I don't personally like any of the QBs right now, NFL GMs are pressured into getting one and the guys in 2017 have the tangibles, I just don't see everything else. I have to admit, it's going to be fun evaluating this class, depending on who actually declares for the draft. There may not be as many options as we think.
I remember having discussions similar to this with the 2014 class. Mitch could end up in the top 5, but I'm not seeing that right now. I think he ends up with a grade similar to Carr or Bridgewater but goes mid first to late first because of Cleveland's ability to take him a little earlier then some will grade him. I posted some thoughts on the quarterbacks in another thread - http://live4sportnetwork.com/forumlist/viewtopic.php?pid=441253#p441253 This is definitely an interesting draft to evaluate. I enjoy our discussions on the draft, even more when it comes to quarterbacks, because we typically have opposing opinions. *DRINK*
Has to be? This is a very interesting QB class this season. There are concerns in the "Top 3", who routinely look like: Watson, Kizer, and Trubisky (not necessarily in any order). I'd probably take any one of those guys at the top of Round 2, but I doubt they last that long. Watson has the best numbers and athletic ability, but could be a product of a spread offense.[/*] Kizer has a prototypical build and offers nice mobility, but makes some very poor reads/throws, was benched, and has only won a handful of games.[/*] Trubisky checks a lot of the height/weight boxes but is completely untested and hasn't had more than one season of being the guy. Seems to be a late comer to the game getting the "Wentz Bump".[/*] I don't think any of the QB's are worth Top 10 picks. My thoughts are still very preliminary, but I think Kaaya might be the best prospect and he could be available in R2. When you have a roster as bad as Cleveland's, can you justify drafting for need and passing up blue chip players who are flat-out more talented? Cleveland passing on Garrett or Allen at the top this year would - in my opinion - be a major red flag that the F/O doesn't "get it".
Keep in mind, not just Cleveland is QB-needy, but the Top 10 (today) of the Draft is loaded with teams that have questions marks there. 1. Cleveland - duh 2. San Francisco - could be a regime change, but either way, I doubt they stick with Kaepernick and Gabbert for another season 3. Jacksonville - Blake Bortles is a bust and Gus Bradley is a lame duck... new regime, new QB 4. Chicago - needs a new QB as Cutler is a cancer and Hoyer is below average 5. New York Jets - they've got Smith, Hackenberg, and Petty... but none of those guys are ready or have shown themselves to be franchise-worthy. None were exceptionally high picks, either. 6. Cincinnati - no need unless Marvin Lewis gets the boot and Mike Brown gets a flashier HC with the promise of being able to use #6 overall on his QB 7. Tennessee - no need as Mariota is developing very nicely 8. Carolina - no need 9. Arizona - Palmer looks like he has nothing left and there's no youth behind him 10. Indianapolis - despite still being a colossal bust, Andrew Luck will be safe
Some early draft thought (and predictions)... Personally, I'll be furious if Cleveland "kicks the can" again with regards to the draft. They need to start making picks where they sit and follow that old mantra: best player available! Absolutely no trade downs or trade outs. Maybe a trade-up for the right guys, but they're staring at 11 - 14 picks when all is said and done - at least five of which should be in the Top 65. This needs to be the draft that defines the New Browns Order (to quote Mr. Grossi). If I were pulling the trigger today... 1-1: Myles Garrett, EDGE Texas A&M Best. Player. Available. He's been a star his entire football career and is a cornerstone defensive player. Regardless of investments in Ogbah and Collins, Garrett is too good to pass up. 1-13 (f/Philly): Jalen "Teez" Tabor, CB Florida Definitely need secondary help and Tabor is a top-rated corner in this crop. Haden looks to have hit a wall, Jamar Taylor is surrendering a ton of yards and QB rating and there's not a lot left behind those guys. 2-32: Brad Kaaya, QB Miami (FL) We cannot go into 2017 without an early round pick at QB because our options are Griffin, Kessler, and McCown. Unless RGIII runs the table and goes 4-0 after the BYE, I think we pick up a new signal caller. Kaaya is one I'm interested in and will continue to evaluate. 2-45 (f/Tennessee): Dorian Johnson, OG Pitt We're getting killed in the interior of our offensive line. Unless Jonathan Cooper impresses after the BYE, it's time to invest there. Could allow Greco to take over playing center. 3-65: Mike McGlinchey, OT Notre Dame No offensive lineman has surrendered more QB pressures and sacks than Austin Pazstor. He's the worst lineman on the team -- even over Cam Erving -- and desperately needs replaced.
We could argue now that even with the pre-draft DUI, Dak Prescott should have been a top 5 pick. He certainly had all the physical tools. The thing we didn't know was how much he loves the game and how bad he wants it. All reports are that he is a practice freak. He's a film studying mad man. This is why I hesitate to stick my neck out for a QB prospect. We don't get to talk to them. We don't get a feel for their leadership abilities outside of game film....I loved watching Manziel play at A&M, and of course we were all aware he was a little wild, but damn, I had NO idea how messed up and immature that dude was. What a disaster. Shame on Cleveland for taking him because they DID know a lot more about his troubles than us . They did get to interview him. And they took him anyway. A freaking QB that couldn't show up for practice sober...So anyway, I've learned my lesson about strongly endorsing an individual at the QB position...We just aren't privy to the things that we need to be in order to make accurate assessments on QB's. Hell even the guys that do have that access are wrong most of the time....Just gotta trust that our front office finally knows what they are doing. I don't think they found the guy yet, but it's only been a year for this group. Dallas lucked into a guy in the 4th round that has blown away everyone's expectations, but other than them, what team can truly say they identified a true cornerstone franchise QB this year? It's not easy, and clearly FAR from an exact science....
Im gonna throw a name out there that the Browns shuld definitely watch for....DeMarcus Walker...its not a homer pick but he has completely taken over games at big moments throughout the yr....Ole Miss and Fla just 2 name a few...I really cant see a difference btwn him and Allen and I may give Walker the nod 2 b honest
Must be a good pic Crex, my work network administrator has that website blocked! I'll check it out when I get home, lol.
