I still think it's too early for draft talk, but I understand it.... If we lock up #1 overall, I will most likely be in favor of the trade down, or selecting Garrett...I just have not seen the QB that warrants #1 overall this year...Of the QB prospects, I still like Watson best, but if we go after him, I'd rather see us do it with the pick we obtained from Philly...
If I wanted to take a shot I wuldnt have worded it like that so that ends that argument....also if u think he is better than Berry and Earl Thomas then he wuldnt have 2 wait on paper work...also Derwin James will b the better player...not playing favs but hes a machine...unfortunate w his injury this yr...time will tell
What makes you think he ever went to the NFL committee? He has stated, he never considered leaving early.. After all, this is his first year starting. He may be mature enough to believe he needs more time before making the jump...but his film says otherwise.
Greco to IR; Kessler cleared Fred Greetham 5:54 PM Offensive lineman John Greco was placed on injured reserve with a foot injury and Cody Kessler was cleared from concussion protocol BEREA, Ohio--One of the Browns most versatile players is now lost for the season. John Greco injured his foot in Sunday's loss to the Giants and was placed on injured reserve. Greco started all 12 games this season with starts at right guard (10) and center (two). He didn?t miss an offensive snap until sustaining a foot injury yesterday in the third quarter against the Giants. Greco has appeared in 111 career games with 70 career starts. He joined the Browns via trade prior to the start of the 2011 season. To replace Greco on the roster, the Browns have claimed OL Matt McCants via waivers from Oakland.? ?McCants (6-5, 309) is officially in his fourth season out of Alabama-Birmingham. Originally selected by the Giants in the sixth round of the 2012 draft, he has appeared in 28 career games with three starts. He has spent the past four seasons with the Raiders.? In addition, quarterback Cody Kessler was cleared from the NFL's concussion protocol and returned to practice. Quarterback Robert Griffin III has one hurdle to clear before being activated to the roster according to Hue Jackson. Multiple reports have said the Browns have waived their fifth quarterback Joe Callahan leaving an open roster spot should Griffin be activated.
Haven't done all my due diligence yet, but I'll get started soon. As of right now, I do think Dalvin Cook is a Top 10 prospect for this draft and possibly Top 5. I also love Christian McCaffrey. I think the bottom line is this draft could shape up to be one of the best running back drafts in a long, long time. After Elliott's success in Dallas, I wouldn't be surprised to see more RBs taken in the Top 10 - 15 picks with all three of those players gone before Cleveland gets back around to the Philly pick.
Would anyone be against focusing on the offensive line in this draft? With Bitonio and Greeco back we still need a center and a right tackle. I don't follow it like some of you do but anything I have read on quarterbacks says this is a bad year to draft one. Why not build up the line? Maybe take a left tackle that can start at right for a couple years until he replaces Joe?
This is what I've been wondering about. I don't think the Browns will be a contender until they have a franchise QB, (and I do not think he's on the roster now). Therefore, you have to consider a QB very early in the draft. But if the QB has a porous OL then his career can easily be sabotaged. The browns OL is a traditional strength, and I do not follow them closely enough to know how they look projecting forward a year to three. Thomas is one of the greats, but does he, realistically, have more than three years left. The Browns have a lot of picks. My thinking* is they parley the first into a QB (draft or trade), and then use the bevy of picks to pick OL. ( * My thinking is devoid of some of the great draft knowledge regularly displayed in the DPL. That's why I've been wondering rather than projecting.)
Because they spent about 90 minutes yesterday on sportsradio 97.1 (Columbus) talking about Hooker's comment. Those that know him are saying that he will turn pro if Ohio State wins the NC this year, OR if the NFL estimates that he will be a high pick in the draft.....I'm just going off of that.
Fortunately I'm a Bills fan so I can dodge this beaut in my closet. If someone wants to see ugly sweaters I can share some of my Sabres collection.
Duff, how didja get into my closet?! I got myself a piss-yellow Sabres sweater, but I won't post pics 'cause it's obscene.
If Kizer ends up being the top player on the board I want them to trade down. Just say no to DeShone.

Welcome to the DPL. Just curious . . . why say no to Kizer? Who would you suggest instead (especially in a trade down)?
Notre Dame is local for me. I've watched just about every snap he has taken as a starter. It's all hype on what he looks like. He's just a big dumb kid.
I wouldn't be surprised to see Kizer at the top of a lot of draft boards for the same reasons that Blake Bortles was considered a top 5 lock. Many scouts and analysts look at the prototype first, then see if the player fits into that mold. Kizer has the height, weight, arm strength and athleticism that GMs want.
If you HAVE to take a QB in this draft, it has to be Kizer. I am a huge Domer fan muff, I can't say I agree that he is just a big dumb kid. I do think he plays tentatively at times, but he has shown that he can progress through reads, though not regularly, so I think he does have football acumen. I have stated repeatedly that I don't want to take a QB at #1 overall...that said, if they don't trade out of that spot, I would be upset if the pick was anyone other than Deshone Kizer. I don't see any player worthy of that top pick. I would lay money on Kizer having a HUGE value as the #1 overall pick when the dust settles this off season. His measurables will be off the charts and he has shown that he can play in a pro style offense...There will be GMs salivating all over the place when they see him throw and get him in a room with a white board...But as you have stated, I just don't see it on the field with enough consistency to actually WANT him... At the end of the day, the NEED is there and with the #1 overall pick, I would be surprised as hell if Deshone Kizer isn't on the Browns roster on April 27th.
Well if you believe the unnamed team executive sources of Jason LaCanfora, the Browns are heavily scouting the kid from Mentor, Mitch Trubisky. Evidently he checks all the boxes with the analytics guys in Cleveland, and they just love him.... After hearing this, I looked at some film of Trubisky and thought he was fairly impressive. I have no idea if the Browns are truly scouting him closer than the other top name QB's, but it makes for interesting banter... Call me crazy, but I haven't lost interest of our current situation. IMO it's important to get a win, and I do believe our best opportunity may come in our next game. Does anybody think RG3 gets the start?
