The O Line was garbage today . has been garbage . Erving isn't even reach
recyclable .I would love to bury a ax in Farmers skull for drafting him and well the weasel , Gilbert and others .

The star wars gang better put there action figures away and figure that out . where the hell is Coleman ?? might as well trot out another rook at RT . Pazstor is a decent guard . he is not a RT .

Coleman & Louis have as many drops as they do catches .. bean counter nerds with no clue about football .

a hillbilly owner and his stank wife under indictment .

great just great .. the roster is GARBAGE and this draft class all 15 of them aren't showing much .

Sell Jim Bob you fucking hilljack !

  2. bluez M.V.P. Browns Indians

wait till season ticket renewal time comes up . that ought to tell the nerds something and the clueless hilljack .

attendance today was embarrassing and it wont get any better this year . people have had enough of this garbage .

way to kill a fan base Jim Bob you fucking crook .

or maybe that's your plan ?? like the bitch from Major League movie . make them suck so bad no one cares anymore so you can move them somewhere .

    GARBAGE !

  3. After watching this Pittsburgh scrimmage Im now changing my draft plans for this team.

1a Mitch Trubisky, QB North Carolina
    1b RT
    2 Center

Yes now you are all seeing that this line is absolutely pitiful. RT is horrible and Erving shouldn't even be in the league. Draft your future QB next year. Then build or REBUILD your line for him. Look at the Cowboys. They built their line then went out and got their pieces. Prescott and Elliot. They already had Bryant. This time build the team right and build a young good O-LINE FIRST! That may mean trading Thomas. Today he got abused. Get another 1st rd pick for him.

Few bright spots as Steelers pummel Browns

    Fred Greetham
    5:17 PM

There were very few bright spots as the Steelers totally controlled the Browns in a 24-9 win to drop the Browns to 0-11
    CLEVELAND--They should've just drafted him.
Ben Roethlisberger led the Pittsburgh Steelers to a 24-9 win at FirstEnergy Stadium over the Cleveland Browns in front of an announced crowd of 67,431 fans at FirstEnergy Stadium. ?Roethlisberger is now 20-2 over the Browns in his career that started in 2004.
A more startling statistic is the fact that Roethlisberger now has 10 wins at FirstEnergy Stadium, playing just once a year in Cleveland. FirstEnergy Stadium has been the home of the Browns since 1999. Former Browns quarterback Derek Anderson had 10 wins in the stadium during his tenure with the Browns for the most wins by a quarterback at the facility.
The game was total domination as the Pittsburgh Steelers played old-fashioned smash mouth football and controlled the ball and the clock for much of the game. They had a 9:18 drive and a 9:28 drive on their first two possessions, both resulting in field goals. They had a 8:02 drive in the third quarter. Pittsburgh was led by Le'Veon Bell, who had 201 all-purpose yards. He rushed for 146 yards (5.2 avg.) and caught eight passes for 76 yards to lead the way. The Steelers had 313 yards totaled.
?We have to stop them," Hue Jackson said. "You have to get some three-and-outs. I thought late in the third quarter, fourth quarter, our defense responded that way. Then the offense has to pick the pace up over there, but they held onto the ball. That means that when we had it, we need to do a better job. We couldn?t, as you can see, we didn?t run it very well. We didn?t throw it very well. We didn?t do a lot of things very well. It is about our team. Our team has to do their part. On defense, we have to get them off the field. On offense, we have to try to keep the ball and make first downs.?
?When the Steelers weren't possessing the football, they were sacking and harassing Browns quarterbacks. Pittsburgh had eight sacks and 14 quarterbacks hits, while forcing two turnovers. They also limited the Browns to just 33 yards rushing.?
The Browns only touchdown came when Josh McCown led the Browns 75 yards on 11 plays down the field and threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Gary Barnidge to make the score 17-9. However, Cody Parkey missed the extra point wide right to keep the Browns eight points down. With 3:36 to play, Javon Hargrave recovered a fumble by McCown in the end zone to give Pittsburgh the 24-9 margin.?
The loss drops the Browns to 0-11 with the New York Giants coming to Cleveland next Sunday.?
Jackson said it is very tough to keep the players positive and not let negativity seep in when you're winless.
?It is extremely difficult," Jackson admitted. "There is no question it is. I think we all get that, but I am going to keep changing hats, psychology hats, whatever hat I have to wear with this group as I told them. We are going to do this the right way. We are going to finish it the right way. We are going to play better. We still have not played a full game yet, and that is what is probably the most disappointing part, but I mean by that we have not put together a whole game where we play consistent football first, second, third and fourth quarter. There were some things better in the second half today than there has been in the past. It is like it reverses, it flips, but it is not good enough. I am not questioning that at all by any stretch. It is not good enough, so we have to get better.?
    ?Extra Points
Tough Pryor: WR Terrelle Pryor led the Browns with five receptions for 97 yards, including a 36 yard catch. Pryor looked like he was knocked out of the game but returned on the next play after taking a shot by DB Mike Mitchell on a high pass thrown by QB Josh McCown. Jackson said Pryor just had the win knocked out of him. Pryor also caught a 26 yard pass that set up the Browns on the one-yard line, but they had to kick a field goal.?
Pryor was asked if would like to return to the Browns next season, despite possibly becoming a free agent.
?I love playing for Hue," he said. "I love playing for (Jimmy) Haslam. He is a great owner. They have given us one of the best facilities. They want to win. I don?t believe in taking the easy road and going to teams just because they are great. I would rather start how we are and then build it into an empire. I believe in battling. I don?t believe in taking the easy way out. Whatever happens in free agency, I love being here.? I respect the coaches, the owners and at the end of the day, it is up to them.?
Pryor leads the Browns with 56 receptions for 724 yards and four touchdowns.?
?Corey's Day: WR Corey Coleman caught just four passes on 12 targets for 39 yards. He had two dropped passes. His longest catch was for 16 yards.?
Gary Scores: After scoring nine touchdowns last season, TE Gary Barnidge caught his first touchdown in the fourth quarter on a 14 yard pass from QB Josh McCown. Barnidge had two catches for 23 yards.?
No Pressure: The Browns were unable to sack QB Ben Roethlisberger in the game. They did have four hurries. LB Christian Kirksey led the Browns with nine tackles, followed by LB Jamie Collins with eight.?
No Ground Game: RB Isaiah Crowell and RB Duke Johnson had just 10 yards each, while QB Josh McCown was the leading rusher with 11 yards.

    Browns: F
It's kind of hard to win games when you can't protect your quarterback, and the Browns couldn't protect their quarterback on Sunday. Actually, they couldn't protect their quarterbacks. Plural. Both Cody Kessler and Josh McCown played in this game and both were sacked four times by the Steelers. The eight sacks was especially ugly, even for the Browns. The sack total was tied for the most the Browns have given up since returning to the NFL in 1999. The Browns' run game was almost as ugly as their pass protection. McCown, who ran for 11 yards, was the team's leading rusher even though he didn't even enter the game until the final play of the third quarter. The Browns ran for 33 yards, and are now 0-13 since 1999 when rushing for 35 or fewer yards.

  6. Getting man handled means you have no HEART! The Steelers do have much, much more talent but today this team looked like it gave up.

Hue Jackson just doesnt have real NFL talent on this team yet. Im starting to think last year Haslam didnt want to pay big money to Wentz as the 2nd pick. This year Im going to watch real closely with what the Browns do with that #1 pick. If they trade down again this year for more picks and not take Trubisky or Kiser rather (Trubisky) then F$%^ this team and the cheap F^%$#$% Haslams. This team needs a big, strong armed QB. Let him sit and learn and play Kessler then let him learn from McCown. BUILD YOUR LINE with the 2nd 1st rd pick and 2nd rd RT/C/OLB/SS/CB then in 3rd the same. ITS NOT ROCKET SCIENCE!

  7. Wentz is waking up...been very bad the last few starts...film is out

First off, thank you stopper for not just wisecracking, this is a relevant and thoughtful post...I for one appreciate it...

To answer your question, none... The Steelers had one game plan for 4 quarters, pin your ears back and rush like hell.

The QBs, especially Kessler, held onto the ball WAY too long, but even after the allotted 3 seconds for a QB, he didn't have anywhere to escape to. There were NO holes for Crowell and company, in fact because of the Steelers gameplan, they were in the backfield on all run plays. That is what upsets me more than the QBs getting their ass kicked. I truly feel the QBs could have avoided some of the hits by not holding the ball. Kessler on his second concussion his rookie season may be ruined for his career now. I feel bad for the kid, but they must move on...

As for using the first two picks on Oline, I don't agree...they must continue to take the best available, while if they do not get one in the first, THEN reach in the second if need be. I agree with Els, they have to get some play makers on this team, otherwise, the base will continue looking like a base.

Joe Thomas eluded to their woes with, what did they expect to happen? They lost 2 players that were the top of their respective positions in Alex Mack and Mitchell Schwartz (whom many of you wanted gone), the line has suffered immensely with those losses. Linemen aren't plug and play...and picking one in the first round, doesn't necessarily mean you will get a starter caliber lineman..look at all the linemen taken the past 5 years (including Erving) in the first round, and the top caliber play just isn't there.

They MUST spend in free agency to replace what they lost last off season. It won't be easy, they would have to go against every fiber of their being and over pay, but if they want ANY QB to survive a season, it must be done.

Repay the favor to Atlanta for signing Mack and get RT Ryan Schroeder from them..Then work on the second round of the draft for a center or guard

I agree with Stopper...I think, lol

Can't take a QB just to take one. Be careful what you wish for Els. I just watched the (edit:) UNC/Pitt game and while Trubisky has a strong arm, he also has terrible footwork, an awkward side arm release that causes balls to float...and, absolutely ZERO passes from under center. He will definitely not be NFL ready when he comes out, just based on system...but watching his mechanics from this one game, it goes beyond that as well. They have 6 games from 2016 on there though, so when I get time, I'll go through the other 5 games to be more thorough.

Other than that, I reiterate, the first round is for finding the best possible players PERIOD, I would definitely not pigeon hole a position to look for rather than the best available player...2nd round will have some really good prospects on the O-Line, so if you want to pigeon hole yourself, that is when you start doing it.

Is this team progressing or regressing ? It looks to me that at best there treading water . the rooks haven't shown much . Hue seems to panic . the game plan against the Steelers was horrible .throw and throw some more ?

QB'S are getting murdered . Erving should be charged with felony assault . why they keep trotting the worthless bum out there is beyond comprehension ?? he didn't earn it in camp . the line has played much better when he wasn't in there . time to cut the cord on this botched experiment .

I was hoping that by this time of the season they would have improved . I don't see improvement and my faith in Hue is fading fast .

When you have a roster filled with 1st and 2nd year players, and the Browns OVER exemplify this, every change of personnel is going to be a step backwards. Everyone on this roster is still learning to play in the NFL, besides the system...the revolving door at some positions has made it nearly impossible for any coaching staff to get consistency and that could not be more true than on the offensive line where Joe Thomas and John Greco are the only two linemen to take 100% of the offensive snaps, there isn't another offensive lineman to take more than 55% of the snaps. That's 4 positions really since Greco has moved back and forth between G and C that have been in disarray for the better part of the season...and to a smaller extent the QB, as Kessler has played the most, but he has only taken 49% of the offensive snaps in 2016, McCown has taken 24% and there is another 26% taken by numerous other players...

These two positions are the backbone to the offense, so without consistency of personnel, I don't know any coach that would thrive.

The defensive side, quite honestly, I think they are experimenting with many different looks and styles, they are rotating in personnel groups at an alarming rate. There isn't a single player that has logged in 100% of the plays, Christian Kirksey is close at 99%, only missing 2 plays thus far...The next closest to Kirksey is Demario Davis at 85%, then it drops to 75% for Ogbah and Jamar Taylor, Joe Haden at 69%...and it just continues to drop from him on down through the roster. They are searching for identifiable players on the defensive side of the ball. This was an experimental year and again, I don't think anyone's job in in jeopardy because of that.

I am not saying fire him unless the team quits on him then its time to go . once you lose a locker room your dead meat .

Why didn't Hue try to counter the Steelers rush yesterday with some screen & draws ?? quick slants on man coverage to beat the all out assaults .

Maybe he should hand over the PC to Pep Hamilton and concentrate on the game itself ?

Its hard to have faith in the FO when there is no football guy in sight. a lawyer and a baseball guy and I'm not sure what the hell the other ones are ?

How many wins you think they will have next season 3 maybe ? quite painful slow process . this roster is worse than the 99 , 2000 roster *WALL* *WALL* *HELP*

Yesterday, just before the game started, I was on here trying to convince myself that the Browns could really win. I said Pittsburgh was beatable, and WHO WANTS IT MORE? Well it seemed pretty obvious to me who wanted it more. We aren't good on either line, offense or defense. Games like that are demoralizing. We could NOT get the defense off the field. It was like a cat playing with a ball of yarn. Our coach talked about how important it was for us to get "3 and outs" on defense, and then the Steelers start off the game with back to back 9 minute drives.,.smh. It was embarrassing.....

The Cleveland Browns have won just three games since Thanksgiving in 2014. They?ve lost 29 in that span.
The franchise as a whole is not in good shape. Quarterback remains?a huge question mark, as does just about every position on the roster outside of left tackle. The front office has whiffed on draft pick after draft pick, and it?s doomed the team.

Joe Thomas -- the team's one shining light and a nine-time Pro Bowl selection at that left tackle spot -- says the Browns?have no one to blame but themselves.
?You?ve got to lie in the bed that you?ve made,? he said, via The Chronicle. ?We lost a couple really good players, I think the best at their position. But that was our strategy in the offseason. That?s what we decided to do.?
Thomas was referring to Mitchell Schwartz and Alex Mack, two offensive linemen the Browns let go in free agency. The line hasn?t yet recovered from their departures, and it?s partly the reason for all of the injuries at quarterback this season.
Again, that falls on the front office and not necessarily on the players.
?The guys that are making the personnel decisions, they?re the experts on that, so they?re the ones that have to make those decisions and look at those decisions when they?re made,? Thomas continued.
Of course, the players are somewhat to blame for their lackluster performance. This season in particular has been hard to watch, though. Robert Griffin III, Cody Kessler and Josh McCown have all gotten hurt behind Cleveland?s offensive line, even when facing teams that aren't great at rushing the passer.
The Browns surrendered eight sacks to the Steelers on Sunday despite the fact that it wasn?t for a lack of effort.
?It?s the line getting on the guys we want to be on,? Thomas said. ?It?s the running backs knowing who we?re blocking and being on their right guys. It?s the quarterbacks understanding how we?re blocking and readjusting the protection if it needs to be readjusted. We haven?t been on the same page enough and, of course, it comes down to just winning the one-on-one matchups.?
The Browns have a steep uphill climb toward success, and at 0-11 there?s little hope in Cleveland.

  15. Irish Atl just locked up that OT u just mentioned

  16. kendawg Guest

It drives me crazy that the Browns decided to let Schwartz go. After yesterday it couldn't be plainer that we have the worst O line in football, and QBs put their careers at risk, by taking the field behind it.

Getting rid of the ball quickly is good in theory, but at the same time his HC is asking him to go down the field with the ball. How does he accomplish both? Hue is frustrated, and "I get it" and defenses can crowd the line, and the recievers, essentially cutting off the short slants, etc.... you have to have some semblance of protection, or it all goes to shit.

So, yeah, the FO has to address the O line as a priority. Not necessarily the first pick, but don't let good O linemen pass by in the draft. A QB is truly needed, but without a line, he's a sacrificial lamb at this point. This is such a mess this year. I knew we'd be bad, but I wasn't prepared for the depths of bad we have attained, and even more frustrating, the lack of improvement shown.

Can anyone show me where we've gotten better as the season has gone on?

After two prominent Browns players spoke up following the team?s latest loss, Browns coach Hue Jackson felt compelled to talk to them about keeping team business within the team.
On a conference call with reporters Monday, Jackson said it?s ?not Terrelle [Pryor?s] job? to talk about the offensive line?s struggles. After a 24-9 loss to the Steelers that included rookie quarterback Cody Kessler suffering his second concussion of the season and Browns quarterbacks getting sacked eight times, Pryor said he ?hated? that ?every time our quarterback drops back? he seems to get hit.
?They can?t keep getting hit like that, and if I want to voice my opinion, I?m going to voice my opinion now, because it?s going on too much,? Pryor said, per Cleveland.com. ?I don?t care if you?ve got to hold these dudes. Hold them and take the damn penalty and stop getting our quarterbacks hit. I hate that.?
Asked what could be done about it at this point of the season, Pryor said: ?We?ll have to talk to our management and that?s a question for them, but we can?t keep getting these guys hit. I?m tired of our guys getting hit. I?m nobody to complain because I don?t run it, but it?s personal to me because I care for those guys and I don?t like seeing them get hit like that. Point blank, period. Somebody?s got to say it.
?It?s dangerous. They?re getting hit every play.?
Jackson said he and Pryor spoke about focusing ?on ourselves and supporting each other. That is what good teams do, and that is what we are going to work to become.
?After the game and after the heat of the moment, you are a little frustrated and maybe you say some things that you wish you hadn?t. I understand it is coming from a good place. I know that no one wants to see our quarterback getting hit, but I think everybody has to let me be the judge of that.?
Understandably, Browns Pro Bowl tackle Joe Thomas also wasn?t happy after the game. He called the offseason free agency departures of center Alex Mack and right tackle Mitchell Schwartz ?part of our strategy? and said the remaining Browns ?have to lie in the bed you?ve made.?
It doesn?t sound like there?s much fun being had inside the Browns? walls right now.
?Again, I just think all of our players are frustrated,? Jackson said. ?Again, they want to win. It is all coming from a good place. There is not a guy in our locker room that does not want to win. When things do not go well, it is very easy to point back to some other things. In order for us to get to where we want to be as an organization and as a good football team, we all are going to learn from every decision that we make, but I think right here in the middle of the season and late in the season where things have not gone as well, it is easy to feel, think and wish that things were different.
?I understand those questions that are going to be asked, and I understand some of the answers that will come from our players, but at the same time, I think what we have to do is just stay positive through it all. It is not easy to do. It is hard to do, but that is how I want our team to handle it, and we are just going to continue to move forward.?

The OL has been a problem however it is time for them, and Hue,to man up and run between the tackles even if it means multiple 3 and outs. They need a mindset like Marty Scottenheimer had when he built the Browns, and the Chiefs, and the Redskins, and the Chargers. Get Tough! Run the ball! Over and Over and become a FOOTBALL TEAM!!! If I see one more play with Joe Thomas at WR my shoe is going through the TV!!!

Cheap as crook of a owner ..nerds in the office that don't know shit about football = 0 - 16 and loads of frustration from both players & fans .
