I never blamed Hue for their losses...somebody brought up how much they believe in Hue over the likes of Pettine, Chud, Shurmur etc....I simply stated why so much belief when those guys never started 0-10 and battled the same type of circumstances w similar talent and no real QB....I then added, in his playoff stats leading the offense which went 0-2 and avgd 13 pts a game...ur right, he didnt have Dalton one yr but u think low of him anyway so it may have been a wash w McCarron
Not when McCarron averaged 8 points a game less than Dalton did...and no, I believe Dalton pees down his leg in big games...might be why no GM felt he was worthy of a first round grade...Either way, that isn't on Hue Jackson..Jackson was averaging 28 points a game with his starters healthy in Cincy, which was higher than any previous OC there.
That's a bunch of BS Stopper. You fail to read anything. Or if you do, you fail to comprehend what is written. Go back and read it again. None of the other coaches had as bad a roster as this due to a complete re-build. My point about none of the other FO's garnering as many compensatory picks by letting higher priced free agents walk was completely lost in that rat's nest you call a brain. All of the other coaches had better talent on the roster or a more complete roster and all of them weren't one of the youngest rosters in the NFL. And do you really want to argue how superior those coaches were because they had 3 or 4 wins? You fail to look at the whole picture and would just rather latch on to one mindless aspect you deem to outrank any comment made by any one else/ Do I need to dumb things down for you and only use one syllable words? Did you bother to take the 30-day free trial at ABCMouse for elementary school reading comprehension? Do you suffer from Lysdexia? I applaud you for being the dimmest bulb in the box.
Ok so possibly going 0-16 can b justified cause they will get compensatory picks, have the youngest team in the league and decided to rebuild...gotcha
Going 0-16 isn't OK with everyone, it's just not the yardstick, by which the season will be measured. I don't doubt Hue and co. will go out to win each game. Ultimately, continuity is more important than a single or even a couple wins. Those are not mutually exclusive goals, but there is clearly one that is more important. Youth and injuries have made what was bound to be a disasterous season, into the worst case scenario, so laying it on Hue is very short sighted, and that is exactly the point, they have decided to take the long view, maybe for the first time. The off season activity, or lack thereof, showed every indication that was the plan: go long. I believe they felt they had a coach they could entrust with the team for a couple of years, at least, which then allowed them to feel comfortable with a complete roster overhaul (some of which many of us dissagreed with). They accumulated picks, and created a roster of young unproven players. That wasn't by mistake. They were looking out at least a year or two. That isn't hard to see, so while Hue and some of his staff have made mistakes, so has the FO, and I think the strategy is to allow them and the team to grow into their positions. The Difference this go round is that they have their coach, and will trust him to learn and grow, and to build, in conjunction with the personnel guys in getting the pieces needed. They could be wrong. I certainly hope they are not, but I'd like to see a minimum of 3 years with this "core" or this "strategy" to let the plan play out. The annual or bi-annual "do over" doesn't work. Realistically, if they can find their QB, and the line solidifies, they are ready to go on offense. The D is farther away, but there are pieces to build around. It's easy to "doom & gloom" and I often feel the same, but there is apparently a long term strategy in place, and at least so far, they seem to be committed. Could that be said in any of the prior 5 years? That's the improvement I am hoping for, because, I have believed that nearly all of Browns issues eminated from the Ownership / Management end, and most of that was a lack of committment to follow through, in the face of adversity. If we can solve that, then we have "a chance" at creating a winning franchise. Amen
As the Browns inch closer to the possibility of ending the 2016 season without a win, there?s been increased attention paid to how the team would react to becoming the second team to pick up 16 losses in 16 tries. A report that there?s ?heightened tension? inside the organization has been balanced by coach Hue Jackson talking about the support he feels from owners Jimmy and Dee Haslam and word that Jackson?s job is safe for the 2017 season. Executive vice president of football operations Sashi Brown was the one stating that intention, saying that the Browns want a team of people who will be around for a long time. Still, 0-16 is 0-16 and the Browns haven?t been known as a particularly patient organization over the years. According to Brown, though, the plan in place for Cleveland isn?t going to be shaken by the team?s record. ?We are not focused on wins and losses this year,? Brown said, via Jenny Vrentas of TheMMQB.com. That much seemed clear from the way the Browns put this year?s team together, an approach left tackle Joe Thomas calls ?one of the most extreme rebuilds? in history. It hasn?t borne any fruit yet, but the word from Cleveland remains that no one is planning a course correction in the near future.
Steeler fans still have hope, so I expect them to invade our stadium in huge numbers once again this Sunday. I hope Sashi is serious when he says, "brighter days are ahead for the Cleveland Browns".... I don't blame the Browns fans for selling the tics, but this shit really is getting old. We have become an extra home game for teams that have a large fan base....smh.
I talked with a few season ticket holders on the OBR . in the past they would gobble up the tickets not so much this year .some of our holders cant sell the tics so there going to the game . I still expect a few mullet headed toothless inbreds to invade us .
Brighter days ahead? What? You mean like starting the same QB week to week or winning a game? They are on course to lose out. They want that #1 pick to trade and gather more picks. So to him...... they are on course to do that. More picks means more rookies which means player salaries go down then DEE and Jimmy make more money!! Gotta love it Browns fans.
It's like that movie A Beautiful Mind but without Russel Crowe and without the genius part...............
They need a base roster Els...Something the Browns haven never done since coming back. THAT is what they are doing. They are building a roster from the ground up, so that when they do add a star to the roster it actually has a chance to shine and succeed. Just throwing 3-4 free agents on a roster that has changed every two years gets you no where. Having a strong base is where it begins, and as painful as it is to watch an entire roster of base players flounder in a professional league, it imho will be worth it once it is built. That type of building sets you up to be successful for years to come once the pains of growth are past....and yes, financially it is wise as well. Honestly, the 0-16 thought is the most painful prospect I think I have ever endured as a sports fan...just one win, seems like something pedestrian, would make it all ok in some weird way. I don't give a damn between the difference of #1 and #2 overall in the draft...the draft is a crap shoot at best and a single win for this young team would do wonders. I could care less about a single draft spot...I know the "bean counters" (thanks bluez) may not see it that way...but man I just want to enjoy ONE win in 2016 at least...PLEASE PLEASE let it be THIS week!!
Right there with you Irish. One pole position will not be the holy grail. If I have a game to choose to win, let it be against Pitt. Sadly, yes that will mean a lot to me.
I picked the Browns to win this week . I just have a feeling they can do it . the AFC North isn't what it once was . that's good news for us . the gap between teams isn't as far as it was say last year . for the first time in a long time only one team from the division will make the playoffs . maybe things aren't as bad as they appear ? Goooo Browns beat the mullet headed yellow toothed inbreds .
One of the worst Browns season's ever (IMO) was Eric Mangini's first year as head coach. We were a horrific thing to watch until the final four weeks of the season. Somehow Josh Cribbs caught on fire and we finished that season on a 4 game winning streak, that included a win over Pittsburgh. It was great. I enjoyed every second of that mini-run and didn't bother to think about how it was going to effect our draft for one second....And if this team somehow could pull it together and give us a win or two down the stretch, that would be fantastic as well. I'm with you guys 100% on that. I could care less where we are slotted in the draft. I always want that #32 pick anyway... I usually don't pick against the Browns, but this week I did, and I think that bodes well for the Browns because I've been awful picking games this season...lol! GO BROWNS!!! make me pay for my pessimism! *BRAVO*
Come on guys . . . THINK BIG !!!!! Let's win two !!!! And let the second win be in week 17 and knock the Steelers out of the playoffs !!!!
