Yikes Faulk, Mooch and Irvin just ripping Kessler and his weak arm....I cant argue been saying it all yr...not NFL material...good kid and tries hard but just not talented enough for this level
It will be alright! We have the best LT in the league, lol Can't trade him! He actually likes being here. Choosing money over winning. They actually called a timeout before the 1st play! That is almost laughable. Keep paying suckers!
Your the biggest bullshitter on this forum. Either that or your just a liar. All I have to do is go back and look at past posts of yours to see that you don't know shit about what your talking about. I enjoy coming on here to read about Irish TD Bluez and even Stopper but everything you write is nonsense. Are you Joe Thomas? NO so you don't have a fucking clue why he likes to be in CLE. Keep lying to yourself that you know what your talking about. I'm not impressed with your bullshit.
I have to agree. Kessler doesn't have a pro arm. Hes a try hard kid and that's ok but we need better to win.
I still think we need to give them time to get some more players. They still need to get rid of some dead weight to. It sucks bluez but I still think they need more time. I really don't want to start over again next year.
David I agree they need more time . but could they have done more this year ? we are staring 0 - 16 which does nobody any good . FRUSTRATION !
I can't disagree with you bluez. Nobody talks about this team at work anymore and if I stop for a drink on the way home the bar is filled with Els. One of my brothers is a Cowboys fan and lives in Texas so its been tough to talk to him on the phone.
This might be hard for young people to believe, but the Cleveland Browns were once a great franchise. So great, in fact, that they?ve had a winning record throughout the history of their franchise ? until now. With last night?s loss to the Ravens, the Browns? all-time NFL record is 461-461-10. It?s the first time the Browns have ever been a .500 all-time team since they entered the NFL in 1950. The Browns actually began outside the NFL, starting play in 1946 in the All-America Football Conference. That league existed for four years, and the Browns won the championship in all four of those years. The AAFC then folded, and the Browns were among the teams that moved to the NFL. In their first NFL season the Browns won the league championship. They made the league championship game in each of the next five years as well, and they had a losing record just once in their first 24 NFL seasons. But all good things come to an end, and the Browns have been a lousy team for most of the last three decades, including both the franchise that moved to Baltimore to become the Ravens, and the new Browns, who still maintain the records of the old Browns according to the NFL?s official standings. Currently, the Browns are on a run of nine consecutive losing seasons. Last night?s loss made them a .500 team for the first time ever, and a loss next week to the Steelers would make them a losing team for the first time ever. The new regime in Cleveland has big plans for stockpiling draft picks and young players and eventually turning things around. Cleveland fans can only dream that that approach can make the Browns great again.
Friday, November 11, 2016 Browns reach new nadir Entering Thursday night?s game in Baltimore, it had been 333 days since the Browns won a National Football League game. For the record, they hadn't won since defeating the San Francisco 49ers in Cleveland last Dec. 13. After the Baltimore game, make that 334 days and counting. Playing in front of a national television audience, the team that represents this once-proud franchise set one record for futility that might never be broken and another that definitely will never be broken. For the 10th straight week, the Browns came out on the wrong end of the score, this time a withering 28-7 loss as the Ravens swept the season series. It?s the first time in club history they have gone this far into the season without winning at least one game. Overall, it was the 13th straight setback. The franchise that once called itself The Greatest Show in Football ? because at one time a long time ago it was ? has fallen to .500 since winning their first game against the Philadelphia Eagles in 1950. The loss to the Ravens lowered the overall record to 461-461-10. It isn?t easy playing winless football for an entire season the NFL. It has been done only once. Somewhere in a 16-game season, one would think the worst team in the league, which the Browns clearly are this season, would somehow stumble their way to a victory. They actually led the Ravens, 7-6, at the half and looked fairly decent on both sides of the ball in the process. Forget embarrassingly calling time out even before the Ravens ran the first play of the game because they opened up on defense with 12 men on the field Forget the second timeout taken only five plays into their first possession, which eventually turned into one of the Ravens? four sacks.? Even with those laughable faux pas, the narrow halftime lead still fostered hope for the second half. Turns out it was false hope because this team for whatever reason plays an entirely different kind of football in the final 30 minutes of games. Scoring seems to be a ?foreign act for the Browns. For the second straight game, they failed to put points on the board in the second half. It would have been three if Andrew Hawkins hadn?t scored a touchdown with 12 seconds left in the Cincinnati loss a few weeks ago. The Browns have been outscored, 151-51, in the second half this season. And if fans feel compelled to point fingers of guilt for what unfolded in the second half of the Ravens game, one and all should direct them at Hue Jackson. For whatever reason, the Cleveland coach felt better about inserting Josh McCown at quarterback in the second half after rookie Cody Kessler did nothing to embarrass himself in the first half or the first series of the second half. Kessler?s 25-yard scoring pass to rookie tight end Seth DeValve culminated a seven-play, 75-yard drive that gave the Browns a 7-3 lead midway through the second quarter. The second of Justin Tucker?s two field goals made it a one-point game at the half. McCown surprisingly took over on the second possession of the second half after the Ravens had taken their first lead of the game at 13-7 on a Joe Flacco four-yard scoring pass to tight end Darren Waller. And when he entered, down went the Browns chances of emerging with a victory. As soon as he entered the game, Murphy?s Law tagged along. The only thing McCown did right all night was return to the correct bench after making one mistake after another. In his five possessions, the offense ran 20 plays and produced 38 net yards. Seven of those plays and 37 of those yards were recorded late in the third quarter and the beginning of the fourth. They owned the ball for only eight minutes and 33 seconds while he ran the huddle. By the end of the game, the Cleveland defense, which played moderately well in the first half, was spent, logging 20 minutes and 36 seconds in the second half after playing 18 in the first half. It?s the 10th straight game this season in which that defense surrendered at least 25 points and the ninth in which it gave up at least 28 points. The offense, which has scored only 17 points in the last two losses, provided no help whatsoever. Three of McCown?s possessions ended up in turnovers, the other two in Britton Colquitt punts. In addition to being sacked three times, he was picked by Jerraud Powers, a throw altered by linebacker Terrell Suggs, and Eric Weddle, and stripped of the ball later by Suggs. Three of his passes were either tipped of batted down. The Baltimore offense, which failed to convert its first four third downs, succeeded on the next six in a row, two ending up as touchdown passes to Waller and wide receiver Steve Smith in the third quarter. A Joe Haden interception in the end zone wiped out Powers? early third-quarter theft, but Weddle?s pick at the beginning of the final quarter led to a 12-play, 91-yard drive touchdown march that took seven minutes and 27 seconds, Breshad Perriman on the scoring end of Flacco?s third touchdown pass. McCown?s performance was unquestionably one of the most miserable displays of quarterbacking in recent Browns history and that takes in a whole lot of territory. The final stats showed him with six completions in 13 attempts for 59 yards, two picks, the fumble and three sacks for a loss of 29 yards. And yet Jackson kept sending him back into the game, as if he believed something magical was about to happen, while Kessler, who was 11-of-18 in the first half for 91 yards and the touchdown, lingered on the sidelines. It made no sense. Earlier in the week, Jackson said he planned to play Kessler the remainder of the season in order to find out whether the rookie is, indeed, the quarterback of the future for this moribund franchise. Well, that didn?t last long. The coach now has 10 days to decide whether to grant Kessler a reprieve and ready him for the invasion of the Pittsburgh Steelers a week from Sunday in Cleveland or continue to start a 37-year-old journeyman quarterback who saw his best days a long, long time ago. There is a reason he is a journeyman. It?s not as though Jackson is coaching for his job. The choice should be easy. If he wants Kessler to prove himself, yanking him midway through a game he is winning, albeit just barely, is not the way to show any confidence or get answers. Posted by Rich Passan
Hue said we had to "trust him" on the decision to draft Kessler. Everybody questioned Cody's arm strength when he was in college. That's the aggravating thing for Browns fans. That's why lots of jaws dropped when Cleveland made him a 3rd rd pick. IMO Kessler's biggest problem is that he just holds the ball too long. He's not trusting the routes. I think that and his bad decision making is what got him benched last night, more so than lack of arm strength. He takes too many sacks because he's afraid to pull the trigger. They haven't played together enough to get timing and tendencies down. It's just ugly as hell right now. He puts us behind the eight ball way too often in the down and distance situations. I think Hue got pissed off about it last night and he turned to McCown to see if he could bring a spark to the offense. Unfortunately, McCown was god awful, and you know the rest....
Im watching the NFL network and they have a documentary on Jim Brown. It talked about Paul Brown and his relationship with Jim. Paul would get mad at Jim and yell at Bobby Mitchell. Then it talked about players being placed on waivers and Jim would see to it that they were taken off waivers if he liked them and helped them win. (SOUNDS LIKE LEBRON) It even stated that Jim didn't want to trade Mitchell for the pick that became Ernie Davis, although he already had a close relationship with him from Jim helping to recruit Davis to Syracuse. Whats so sad about this show is that the Browns were great. They were what every NFL team wanted to be. I watched this documentary with sadness as a Browns fan that is about to give up on this team. I watch players like Lavelli( I worked with his son ED), Hickerson, Mitchell, Groza and Brown. IMPACT PLAYERS! Some of the greatest of all time. WHY? Coaching?Scheme?Talent? or maybe all the above. Then the reality of Richardson, Gilbert and Erving sink in. My how far this team has fallin. And MY GOD, SWEET BABY JESUS was Rachel Welsh F^%$%^% HOT!
That was awful. that tested my fandom, it was so pathetic. We lived up to our billing as "the worst team in the NFL", with flying colors. Crap...... I had hoped we would show some promise. We didn't.
It was embarrassing from the very first snap of the game...I can't believe they sent 12 out for the first play. smh...Those are the instances that REALLY worry me. The one thing that I'd like to think we have going for us is coaching, but with brain cramps like that, and the way this team just doesn't play well at all after halftime, I can't help but be concerned about our coaching staff.... Also some of Hue's late game decisions have just been bad. I really thought the coach killed us as much as anybody in Miami at the end, but it's over. Hopefully they are learning...I don't blame him at all for pulling Kessler the other night. It didn't work, but we desperately needed a spark IMO, and it was worth a shot to put McCown in.... I knew this season was gonna be difficult, but when I look at some of the ridiculous calls that have gone against the Browns, it makes me want to smash my TV into a million pieces....Perriman's TD Thursday night?? You gotta be kidding me. Does anybody in the world think the Browns would have gotten a call like that?? Honestly, I don't know what the phuq a catch is anymore, but based on the way they've been calling it the last several years, there's no freaking way that was a catch. Just like there is no way that was a roughness penalty on our safety, that set Tucker up for the chippy right at the end of the half. The thing is, just like the Terrelle Pryor "taunting" call at the end of the first Baltimore game, the refs can mess up all they want as long as the call goes against Cleveland. Nobody gives a shit. Everyone just assumes, the Browns would have lost anyway, so who cares...I've been saying this for the last 12 years or so. It's in the psyche of people everywhere that the Cleveland Browns won't ever get it right. NFL referees are no different. They flag us for every little ticky-tac thing possible, and other teams get away with murder against us. Decades of consistent losing will do that for ya....It's a joke, but until we start winning, don't expect change on that front. When I was young it was the Saints that were the laughing stock of the league...Eventually, they finally got it turned around, and nobody thinks of the Saints today, like they did in the late 70's....I gotta assume the Browns will get it turned around someday too, but it sure has been miserable watching this franchise destroy their brand and lose generations of fans... Does anybody get the feeling that Hue Jackson might be sitting in his office right now, muttering to himself, "holy shit. what have I got myself into? Maybe I should have at least talked to the Giants."....
Hue Jackson's decision to bench rookie starting quarterback Cody Kessler in the second half of the Browns' loss in Baltimore on Thursday night has heightened tension between the front office and coaching staff, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. With the team inching closer to an 0-16 season, more change seems inevitable. At the very least, sources say defensive coordinator Ray Horton is facing a very uncertain future, with his unit allowing more than 30 points per game, and changes could be far more sweeping. Horton is a very unpopular pick in various quadrants of the organization to return as defensive coordinator but is supported staunchly by Jackson. Sources said owner Jimmy Haslam, along with his wife Dee, has become increasingly hands on, with many departments essentially reporting directly to his family. It was Haslam who ultimately decided to hire Jackson and sign off on Horton as coordinator, despite strong reservations expressed by others. The dynamic between the personnel department and coaching staff -- regularly fissured throughout Haslam's various management regimes -- again is a concern to many in the organization, with Kessler's benching raising eyebrows. Given Haslam's propensity for wholesale changes, increasingly lopsided recent defeats and the fact Cleveland has won three games since Thanksgiving of 2014, trepidation is mounting that another shake-up awaits as the winless franchise must start preparing season-ticket invoices for 2017. Morale is low, even by Browns standards, and with 10-or-so departments reporting directly to ownership and without the presence of a strong team president providing leadership, the hands-on approach of the Haslams is causing concern throughout the organization. "You basically have a husband and wife in charge of various areas they don't really understand -- football, coaching, scouting, analytics, ticketing, marketing," a team source said. "And that's the way they want it." Haslam has fired three coaches and general managers in the past four years and has blown up his front office repeatedly, fluctuating from one organizational structure to the next.
I'm now seeing words like "PATHETIC" and "WORST TEAM IN THE NFL" on here. This is a cool site. The 1 thing on here that is bad is the blindness of the people on here. For this team it's the year they see who is worth a damn. Or to see who is worth what they are getting paid. Of coarse Jackson and the MONEY BALL guys are not on the same page. They come from 2 different worlds. I tried to tell you guys that Padesta and Brown are here to be Haslams yes men. Thats why they are $30m under the cap, thats why all free agent talk is useless and thats why Thomas and Haden will always be mentioned in trade talks. Is the money they are making worth 0 wins in 10 weeks? Lets face it, this team can be 0-10 without JT and Haden. Meaning they are irrelevant, they are replaceable. With Haslam not going out and getting some good free agents, blown drafts and the coach and front office not seeing eye to eye what did you guys really expect? 1. The Browns need a young, good O-line. 2. They need a franchise QB. McCown,RGIII and Kessler are not it. 3. They need 2 OLBs. 4. They need 4 yes 4 new DBs. 2 safties and 2 CBs. I would start looking for a place for Joe Haden. A Lap Dog/ blind eye fan says Thomas is great a H.O.F and they need to build around him. A realistic thing for the Browns to do is trade him for the future. They have had him for almost 10 years and have failed him miserably. They have failed us fans miserably. Like I said at the start of the year. This year isn't about wins its about improvement. ARE THEY IMPROVING? JIMMY........ HOW LONG DO YOU PLAN ON RIPPING OFF THE FANS OF CLEVELAND?
Wow, you're drinking the same stuff that Bills fans have been imbibing for years, L.E.Els. I've got no quarrel in the Browns' family feud; but I can identify what you're going through. I'll just throw in my outsider's view on one thing: calling out fellow fans for their "blindness" is not a persuasive approach to making a point. It is, at best, arrogant. It displays an inability or unwillingness to consider that any other point of view could have merit. It is in that respect an indication of a low i.q., or of a personality disorder. When I see it, the first thing I think of is: is this guy an asshole? Hmmm, are you?
