They reported yesterday that he had limited practice...said it is one step closer to him coming back...Nothing as far as week 8 status though, should know more after today's practice and their subsequent week 8 injury report that sets up the status for this weeks games.
No I dont think Hogan is the future QB, but I know 100% McCown is not the future QB...if ur looking for a W and thats all that matters then I guess u go w the vet but it dosnt guarantee anything....the Jets have a great front 7 and McCown will have pressure all day so not sure he can move and allude the hits
Josh McCown will start Week 8 against the Jets. Cody Kessler (concussion) has officially been ruled out, and the Browns aren't trying to use former practice-squad QB Kevin Hogan as the starter. McCown's reinsertion under center gives all three of Terrelle Pryor, Gary Barnidge, and Isaiah Crowell a boost. Barnidge had a real connection with McCown last season and is a decent bet to end his scoring drought to open the year.
Browns CBs Joe Haden (groin) and Jamar Taylor (groin) are questionable for Week 8 against the Jets, but both are expected to play. Haden missed last week's tilt with the Bengals, and Andy Dalton and A.J. Green predictably shredded this unit for big afternoons. Haden figures to see plenty of Brandon Marshall.
Cody Kessler (concussion) "could" get cleared on Friday. It sounds like there's a decent chance Kessler gets cleared on Friday, but coach Hue Jackson has already intimated Josh McCown will be his Week 8 starter. The Browns don't want to start Kessler when he's missed so much practice. Jackson recently called Kessler "our starter." Even if he's relegated to back-up duties this week, we'd guess he starts Week 9.
Corey Coleman (hand) said "once I start catching, I'm playing." Coleman resumed practicing this week but hasn't caught any passes yet. Beat writer Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer believes that could happen as soon as next week ------------------------------------------------------------------- Corey Coleman (hand) is still not catching in Thursday's practice. Coleman has returned to running routes, but he has not been cleared to catch the ball. Considering catching is an important part of playing receiver in the NFL, it seems unlikely he plays this week. He could be ready to go against the Cowboys next week.
This week looks like the best chance for the Browns to get a W....Nick Mangold is listed as doubtful. That could be big. Fitzy has already been a little erratic this season, losing his star Center isn't gonna help...Lord knows we've had our issues at Center this season...If we can contain Marshall, and get a little pressure on their QB, especially if we can bring it up the middle, right in Fitzpatrick's face, then I think we'll create some turnovers and get the first win....I'll say, 28-26 Browns.
I once got my ass handed to me in a Cleveland Browns discussion after I wrongly insulted Browns Nation. For Lyman, Bluesz and Irish Dawg and the rest of the Browns Nation - this is for you. Now it's not in Cleveland, but it's all Browns!
The last 3 days Ive come on here there has been an article about trading Joe Thomas. The 1st was trading him to the Giants, 2nd was trading him to the Pats and now it gets interesting. I just read on yahoo through S.I. that Bill Polian has stated that if the Browns try to trade Thomas that the league should intervene and block it from happening. Now I don't think the league can do that. S.I also stated that the Browns should take Myles Garrett with the 1st pick. Win or lose the Browns make and will keep making a chit load of money for themselves and the league through this fan base. One thing is for sure. As far as Thomas getting traded? Where there is smoke there is fire. Yes I would like JT to finish his career here but more than that I want this team to be respectable. Every front office we have had here no matter who the coach or what system have gotten it wrong. I like what this front office has done with this last draft. Now I would rather trade Haden. Unlike Thomas, Haden is highly over rated and over paid. Stay tuned!
The Tribe has been amazing....That's now an MLB record 5 post season shutouts, and they are getting it done with basically 2 starters...... They waited since 1945 in Chicago to host a WS game at Wrigley, and it looks like they'll have to wait at least one more game before they see their Cubs actually score....Yet who knows? We got Kluber going tonight! ROLL TRIBE!!!
SB Nation just had an article about trades today. They say keep Thomas and try to get a 3rd or 4th rd pick for Haden and his bloated contract. AGREED! Not looking for wins just a QB to play the whole game! TO THE LINE- YOU CAN DO IT!
What the F is a 3rd or 4th round pick going to do to fill the gap of Haden? Even if he only plays 8 games a year, there is nothing you will find to fill the already decimated defensive backfield that we have. I know he isn't going to fetch anything higher than that, it isn't my argument that he would...I simply do not believe trading him would strengthen this team, which is all I want...
