That's funny, I was actually touting his GREAT mechanics before the national pundits began talking about him as a first round QB...But what do I know?

Did we miss out on a HOFer? Who the hell knows... Even if he turns out to be, it doesn't mean Corey Coleman and the other 9 draft picks the Browns got for trading away the rights to him wasn't worth it...

So far, the Browns turned Wentz into:
    Corey Coleman WR
    Shon Coleman OL
    Cody Kessler QB
    Ricardo Lewis WR
    Derrick Kindred S
    Jordan Peyton WR
    Spencer Drango OL

    Also from Philly 2017 1st and 2018 2nd
    Also from Tennessee 2017 2nd

    So, more to come...

To compare the QBs we look at stats, not wins...as Wentz could be 0-5 with the Browns and Kessler could be 3-1 with the Eagles...although we all know Kessler isn't 0-3 if two other QBs don't get hurt in the first two games..

But putting them side by side...

Kessler has played 9 quarters and Wentz has played 16 quarters

    Kessler 66.7% completion, 6.5 yds/attempt, 529 yards(235 per game), 2TD 1INT
    Wentz 67.4% completion, 7.5 yds/attempt 1007 yards(251 per game), 7 TD 1 INT

So, on the surface...Wentz is DEFINITELY a better player straight up against Kessler...especially when you look at the 7 TD to 2 TD stat.

Besides that stat though...is an extra 1st down (or 16 yards) per game worth giving up Corey Coleman and crew, as well as a future 1st and (2) future 2nd rounders?

Well, we shall all see...as we all know, we don't see the true picture after week 5 of their initial seasons...

I am assuming he is talking about a trade out of #1 overall in order to take Peppers??

Is there a guy in the 2017 draft worth trading up to #1 overall to get??

This may be one of those drafts where #3 or #4 may be worth more than #1, based on value. No, you won't get as much for those two picks as you would #1, but you may not have any takers at #1, which essentially makes it worthless.

If we are forced to stay at #1, and ALL the QBs come out, you almost have to evaluate who is the best one and take a chance that Hue Jackson can turn him into a stud...look what he's done with Cody Kessler in a short period of time..Hell I didn't think he would be fit to be a backup after his first pre-season game...now, he isn't the reason they've lost the last 3 games.

This team needs, defense...defense..and oh yeah, did I mention defense?

I wouldn't mind a trade down as, right now anyway, I don't see the absolute difference maker that you have to have to turn this team around.

When talking safety though, don't overlook Malik Hooker...that boy is a baller. He's a red shirt Soph so he may stay in school for another season...BUT...Can you imagine trading down a few spots and getting a 2018 First round pick...Peppers AND Hooker in the same draft? Your defensive backfield could be close to set.

Hell, they took FOUR WRs last year, why not TWO safeties in 2017? SS and FS would be set for the next 5 years at least. Heck, while we're at it, stay in the B1G and take Lattimore in the 2nd, if he's still available and your secondary could be scary good by 2018 when you are ready to add a QB to this team.

Then turn to your Ivy League men to take Bucknell OT Julia'n Davenport with their second 2nd Round pick...and well, we have another draft to discuss week 6 of 2017.

The Browns will face long time defensive nemesis Dick LeBeau on Sunday with a new offensive line combination

    Fred Greetham
    Wednesday at 12:58 PM

The Browns will start another group of offensive linemen this Sunday against the Titans as they face long-time Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau
BEREA, Ohio--The Browns have had enough problems, particularly with injuries through the first five weeks of the season, but coming off a poor rushing performance against the Patriots a week ago, the news isn't any better this week.?
Long-time Steelers defensive coordinator Dick LeBeau is running the Titans defense and he is expected to employ some of the same tactics that held the Browns to just 27 rushing yards a week ago. Tennessee is giving up just 98 yards a game defensively.
?Obviously, Dick LeBeau is one of the best coordinators in this league, but we face good coordinators every week," Hue Jackson said. "There is a whole bunch of them in this league, and that is what they do. Dick LeBeau is as good as there is and he has those guys playing well. We have a big challenge again this weekend.?
Titans coach Mike Mularkey was asked on a?conference?call this week if they will use what New England did in stopping the run.
??I?m sure we will look at it closely like we always do," Mularkey said on a conference call. "Dick LeBeau does a great job of scheming offenses so I?m sure he will have something up his sleeve.?
To compound the situation, the Browns offensive line situation is even more muddled with the loss of left guard Joel Bitonio to a mid-foot sprain to injured reserve. Joe Thomas has not practiced yet this week with a knee injury. On Friday, the Browns said Thomas would play.
Cameron Erving will return to the lineup this week after missing three games with a bruised lung. However, the Browns will start a different lineup up front for the fifth-straight game.
?Cam is ready to go," Jackson said. "Cam is there and obviously (John) Greco and Alvin Bailey and ?(Jonathan) Cooper. We will know more by the end of the week, but I feel good about the guys who are going to walk out there first. I do feel good about the starting line.?
Jackson was asked about the challenges presented with the rash of injuries to the line.?
?You guys want me to say I give, I quit or what?" Jackson said laughing. "That is not going to happen. I think you guys know me. I?m built for this. I?m just telling you, I?m built for this and I think our team is. It is not easy. I?ll be the first to tell you that. I?m not going to sit up here and tell you, ?Oh my gosh, this is great!? No, it is not, but at the same time, what do you guys want me to do?
"We are going to keep working," he said. "We are going to keep coaching and keep getting these guys better. We are not going to make excuses. I don?t think that is what this is all about. This is the National Football League. We have other guys that are paid to do a job, and we as coaches have to get them ready to play and our guys have to get themselves ready to play. It is not going to always be pretty, it is not going to always be the way we want it to be, but that is just life in this business. We have had a ton of injuries, It has been unfortunate, It has been our year. Hopefully (knocks on wood), after this is done, we are going to get some guys back. As you know, we are starting to get guys back. Here comes Cam..."
Bailey will shift to left guard to replace Bitonio and Greco would move back to right guard. Bailey has started two games this season, both at right guard.
?It is good," Greco said. "I have been bouncing back and forth the last couple of weeks so this is a right guard week. Hopefully, I get to stay there, but like I said, I am ready no matter where they need me.?
Mularkey said the Titans will try to take advantage of the opportunities afforded them with their defensive front.?
?You hate to see anybody get hurt and have some problems with injuries, but that is pretty much the league," Mularkey said. "We are in the same situation with our right guard. We are not going to put an entirely different scheme together based on their injury with the guard ?(Bitonio).
"We have got a set scheme," he said. "We are going to attack. Dick LeBeau does a good job of attacking where he thinks weaknesses are, and we will go from there.?
Jackson said the Titans front line is strong.
?No. 99 (Titans DL Jurrell Casey), No. 98 (Titans OLB Brian Orakpo), they are good, and No. 91 (Titans OLB Derrick Morgan), they are good players," Jackson said. "They are really good players, play hard and I think Casey is playing as good as anybody in the league right now. He just is. He is a dominant football player, and Orakpo is proven. The guy has six sacks so that tells you they know how to get to the quarterback.?
Mularkey said he's not worried about his team being over confident in playing the winless Browns. The Titans are 2-3.
?We know better," Mularkey said. "We have been in the league, especially this staff has been in the league for a long time. Every Sunday, there is a fine line between winning and losing games. Like us, they have lost a couple close games. They easily could have a different record as we could. We won?t fall for that. I can promise you that.?
    Extra Points
McCown Out: Jackson said that QB Josh McCown will not be active Sunday, leaving rookie QB Kevin Hogan as the backup to QB Cody Kessler. WR Terrelle Pryor will likely be in the mix as the backup, as well. McCown returned to practice this week but wasn't cleared to play this week. Jackson did say he was more comfortable with Hogan after a full week of practice.?

Bitonio to IR; Sign FB: The Browns have signed FB Dan Vitale from Tampa Bay?s practice squad. In addition, the team placed OL Joel Bitonio (foot) on injured reserve.?
?Vitale (6-1, 239) from Northwestern. Originally selected by Tampa Bay in the sixth round, he has spent the entire season on the Buccaneers? practice squad. As a senior, he led Northwestern in receptions (33), receiving yards (355) and receiving touchdowns (four). He'll wear No. 40.
?Bitonio, a second-round pick in 2014, started all five games this season and helped the Browns rank fourth in the NFL in rushing average (5.62) and fifth in rushing yards (624).?He?sustained a mid-foot injury during Sunday?s game against the New England Patriots.
Haden Update: DB Joe Haden was a late addition to Thursday's injury report with a groin injury. Defensive coordinator Ray Horton termed Haden's injury as "slight" and said he expects him to do everything he can to play on Sunday.?Besides Thomas, OL Joel Bitonio (foot) WR Corey Coleman (hand), TE Randall Telfer (ankle), TE Seth DeValve (knee) and DL Xavier Cooper (shoulder) did not practice. QB Josh McCown (left shoulder) and TE Gary Barnidge (forearm/hip) were limited while QB Cody Kessler (chest/ribs), OL Cameron Erving (chest/lung) and DB Tramon Williams (shoulder) were full participants. ?
More Duke as Returner: The Browns have been struggling to have an effective punt return game since the departure of PR Travis Benjamin. In effect, most of the returners this season have been fair catchers. However, special teams coordinator Chris Tabor said he expects to use RB Duke Johnson more in that role.
?Yeah, he will get more opportunities," Tabor said. "He is averaging 12.7 yards. The last time we discussed punt return, we have gone up statistically the last couple of games. We are making strides there. Obviously, not where I want it to be or it is not at the level that the Cleveland Browns? return unit should be, but my glass is not half empty. It is half full, so to speak. Duke is doing a nice job for us fielding the ball cleanly, and I expect that area to improve.?
?Nothing New on RG3: Jackson was asked if there was any new updates on QB Robert Griffin III.
?No. No sir, there is nothing new at this point.?

The Browns will pick up their first win of the season tomorrow. The Titans are coming off a decisive win on the road and aren't good enough to be immune to letdowns. The Browns will be able to run on the Titans' average rush defense and get pressure on Mariota through the Titans' leaky pass protection.

Pro Bowl LT Joe Thomas will not ask Browns for a trade
    1:35 PM ET

    Pat McManamon
    ESPN Staff Writer

BEREA, Ohio -- An 0-5 start and a long-term rebuild has not changed Joe Thomas' resolve to finish his career with the Cleveland Browns.
The Pro Bowl left tackle will not ask to be traded at the Nov. 1 deadline, according to a source close to Thomas.
Thomas, 31, almost was traded a year ago to Denver at the deadline, but the Browns backed out. Had he gone to the Broncos, Thomas would have won a Super Bowl.
He stayed in Cleveland, went through another coaching change and is currently on the only winless team in the NFL.
Given his tenure, dependability, talent and age, Thomas could reasonably ask for a trade and not cause problems. He has played for one winning team in Cleveland since 2007, and his window to get to the playoffs closes a little every season.
But Thomas wants to stay with the Browns, the source said.
Thomas had no comment on the upcoming trade deadline.
The Browns do not comment on trades or potential trades, but the team has made it clear the past months it does not want to trade Thomas. Coach Hue Jackson has had nothing but positive things to say about his left tackle as well.
Speculation about Thomas being traded starts every year around the deadline, and it will stir this year given the way the Browns have overhauled their roster.
The Browns are in the early stages of a multiyear rebuild, so Thomas could look and say that by the time the team is ready to win he may be 33 or 34 -- autumn for an offensive lineman.
But Thomas likes Jackson, and he likes Cleveland. Though he expressed disappointment with more change after last season, the hiring of Jackson seemed to energize him. He lives in suburban Cleveland year-round and would like to finish his career with the team that drafted him.
This does not guarantee a trade will not happen; another team might make an offer the Browns can't refuse.
But finding a deal will be tougher than a year ago, when Denver was in need of a left tackle and the match was nearly perfect. The Browns backed out in the final minutes.
Finding a trade partner this year means finding a team that needs a left tackle willing to plug in a 31-year-old.
Another player who will surely be the subject of trade chatter is cornerback Joe Haden.
However, his contract makes him a difficult acquisition. A team that acquires him would be responsible for $5.34 million of his 2016 salary cap cost.
His cap cost increases to $11.2 million in 2017 and $11.1 million in 2018; $4 million of his 2017 base salary is guaranteed.
The Browns would likely want a first- or second-round pick for Haden.

Cleveland is being watched by the country, (I live in Denver and pull for Buffalo sports).

I'm happy that the Monsters have gone from Lake Erie to Cleveland. The Jackets have a great prospect pool so I expect another good season. The Cavs play basketball; sorry, but I just don't care. (I do like LBJ though.)

The Tribe look WS bound. Here, the nation may feel conflicted if it's against the Cubs. As for me, I think it'll be a true classic with a feel-good story regardless of the winner.

The Browns? Well they have some work to do. If they (finally) have the FO & coaching staff in place then the most important element of team building - consistency and team identity - may be in place. Getting the right pieces on the roster can come over a year or two.

After how you were treated in the 90's by that dead guy, the country will really applaud if the Browns become a winner.

It's fun to watch this from the sidelines.

Questionable move costs Browns chance for win

    Fred Greetham
    12:31 PM

A tactical decision by Hue Jackson cost the Browns a chance for a come from behind win
Hue Jackson went for it early.
However, that decision cost the Browns a chance to at least send the game into overtime as the Browns lost their sixth-straight game to start this season, 28-26 to the Tennessee Titans at Nissan Stadium in Nashville. Dating back to last season, the Browns have lost nine-straight games.
Trailing 28-13 with 6:43 to play in the game, Cody Kessler led the Browns on a 75-yard touchdown drive capped with a five-yard slant for a touchdown to Terrelle Pryor with 2:07 to play. The touchdown trimmed the Titans lead to 28-19, but needing two scores, Jackson decided to go for the two-point conversion after the first score. Kessler threw a pass behind Ricardo Louis, who couldn't hang on and the score remained at 28-19. Had Jackson decided to kick the extra point, they still would've had a chance to tie the game up if they could get the ball back.
"I went for two early because I know at some point we needed to go for it," Jackson said. "Obviously, we didn't make it. I felt at that time that's what we needed to do because I knew we needed to do so at some point."
Jackson said he has a chart that he goes by, but ultimately it's his decision.?
"I'm making these decisions with very good information," he said. "I?know everything is going to get questioned and it's on me. I made the decision and I take responsibility for it. We went for it and we didn't make it."
The Browns did get the ball back, but still needed two possessions as they now trailed by nine as Cody Parkey bounced the onside kick off a Titans player and Rashard Higgins recovered at the Browns 37.
Nine plays later, Duke Johnson dove in from one-yard out to make the score 28-25. However, still needing another score, Parkey's PAT made it 28-26 with 27 seconds left to play.
Parker's second onside attempt was recovered by Andre Johnson and the game was over.
The Browns haven't started 0-6 since 1999 when they lost their first seven games before they defeated the Saints on a last second 'Hail Mary' pass from Tim Couch to Kevin Johnson.?
The Browns will travel to Cincinnati to take on the Bengals next Sunday trying to avoid their seventh-straight loss to start the season.?
    ?Extra Points
Gutsy Cody: Making his fourth start, QB Cody Kessler gutted out a performance after being knocked out a week ago against New England with chest/rib injuries. Kessler was 26-of-41 for 336 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions. HIs rating was 105.3, but Kessler was blasted all day on his tender chest/rib area. The offensive line couldn't keep Kessler off the ground as he was sacked six times and knocked to the ground 11 other times.
Kessler led the Browns on a 94-yard touchdown drive to end the first half, bringing the Browns to within one point, 14-13. He then led the Browns on two touchdown drives in the final moments to give the Browns a chance. He threw a five-yard touchdown pass to WR Terrelle Pryor with 2:07 to play to cap a 75 yard drive. He then led the Browns 62 yards for another touchdown when RB Duke Johnson scored from the one.
Couldn't Make Stop: The defense couldn't get off the field when they needed to. Trailing by just one score at 21-13, the Titans had an
11 play, 65 yard drive that took 6:59 ?off the clock to make it a two possession game at 28-13.
Torched Secondary: The Browns secondary without DB Joe Haden had a rough day giving up many big plays, especially on third down. On the Titans final touchdown drive, QB Marcus Mariota?hit Delanie Walker for 21 yards. He completed three, third down passes to WR Kendall Wright on the touchdown drive, including the third time for 13 yards on third-and-8 on DB Tramon Williams. The Titans were able to throw deep throughout the game as the receivers beat the Browns. Wright caught a 48-yard touchdown behind DB Irbraheim Campbell and DB Jamar Taylor. Later, WR Rishard Matthews beat DB Derrick Kindred for a 43-yard pass play.
TP Time: WR Terrelle Pryor continued to be the Browns best play maker as he accounted for 75 yards receiving on nine receptions, including two touchdowns. Pryor also threw one pass that was completed for a yard and he rushed once for three yards. ??
No Run: The Browns had their second-straight rough rushing game. RB Isaiah Crowell had 16 yards on nine carries, with a long of 11 yards. RB Duke Johnson had 18 yards on four carries, including a one-yard touchdown. Johnson caught four passes for 56 yards, including a 28 yard catch. Crowell had two catches for 20 yards. Crowell entered the game with 416 yards, third bet in the NFL. As a team, the Browns were averaging 124.8 yards a game, 5th in NFL.
Barnidge, Williams Active: TE Gary Barnidge (forearm/hip) and DB Tramon Williams (shoulder) both were active despite being listed as questionable. Barnidge had a 43-yard catch on the first offensive play from Kessler to set up a 45-yard field goal by K Cody Parkey. Barnidge had three receptions for 59 yards. Williams had an interception.
Sack Men: DL Danny Shelton and rookie OLB Emmanuel Ogbah had the only two sacks for the Browns.?
The Other Cody: K Cody Parkey ?converted on two field goal attempts in the first half and is now 5-of-8 on field goals from the season. He has not missed since he missed the attempted game-winning field goal against the Dolphins in his first game.?
Poyer, Duke Hurt: DB Jordan Poyer left the game for a concussion evaluation in the first half and did not return. RB Duke Johnson also injured his knee, but returned. Jackson said that Poyer had a lacerated kidney and will remain in Nashville.
Ricardo Time: Rookie WR Ricardo Louis caught a 42-yard pass from Kessler on the drive that resulted in a touchdown to WR Terrelle Pryor. He had four receptions for 58 yards in the first half and finished with five for 65 yards. However, Louis dropped at least two catchable passes and also was called for a false start penalty.
Hawk: WR Andrew Hawkins had three catches for 48 yards, including a 22 yard reception that set up the Browns final touchdown.?
Haden Out: CB Joe Haden was inactive with a groin injury that surfaced on Thursday. Rookie DB Briean Boddy-Calhoun started in Haden's place, instead of veteran DB Tramon Williams. ?Body-Calhoun tied LB Demario Davis for the team lead with seven tackles.?

Sitting Out: Inactive for the Browns were: WR Corey Coleman (hand), QB Josh McCown (shoulder), FB Dan Vitale, TE Randall Telfer (ankle), TE Seth DeValve (knee) and DL Xavier Cooper (shoulder).
