I read this morning that pre-draft, Dane Brugler had Kevin Hogan as his 8th QB w/ a 5-6 rd grade and Kesler was his 17th QB with an undrafted projection. I liked Hogan as a late round pick. Im not getting my hopes up though.

    Bitonio could miss extended time

    Fred Greetham
    12:16 PM

The Browns received another blow to their offensive line with the news that left guard Joel Bitonio will be out for this weeks game and possibly beyond.
    BEREA,Ohio--The offensive line shuffle continues.
During the period of open locker room, news began to circulate that left guard Joel Bitonio has suffered an injury to his foot that could cause him to miss this week's game with the Titans and possibly beyond. Bitonio was not on the practice field and the club said that Bitonio would be out for extended time with a mid-foot sprain.?
Joe Thomas confirmed an injury to Bitonio.
"I haven't really heard any final prognosis or anything like that," Thomas said. "All I know is he has a foot injury and we'll see if he practices (Wednesday). I haven't heard if he's able to go or not."
Thomas was asked what it would mean if Bitonio is out for an extended period of time.?
"He's one of the best guards in the NFL, in my opinion," Thomas said. "When you lose that type of guy, he's tough to replace, but depending on when Cam (Erving) can come back, we'll be in good position if Joel can't play because we have John (Greco) and Alvin (Bailey) who have both started this year and they can move one of them over."
Pro Football Focus rated Bitonio as the ninth best left guard in the NFL. It is unknown when Bitonio ?was injured, but he played the entire game last week and has not missed a snap this season. Bitonio played just five games last season after suffering an ankle injury and finished the season on injured reserve.
Bitonio was one of three offensive linemen that have played every game. Besides Bitonio, Thomas and Austin Pasztor. Thomas has started and played every snap this season at left tackle and Pasztor has done the same at right tackle. Greco has played every offensive snap, but has played three games at right guard and two at center. Bailey has started two games at right guard. Erving started the first two games at center, but has missed the last three games with a pulmonary contusion.
Erving is set to begin practicing on Wednesday and he could possibly move back to center with Greco and Bailey becoming the guards.?
If Erving is unable to play, the Browns signed offensive lineman Jonathan Cooper earlier this week off of waivers from the Patriots. Cooper was originally the seventh overall pick of the Cardinals in the 2013 NFL Draft. Cooper was inactive the first four weeks with New England this season. Cooper has played in 24 games in his first three seasons in the NFL, starting 11 games. Cooper was traded from the Cardinals to the Patriots on March 15, 2016. Rookie Spencer Drango could also be a possibilty.?

Injuries in English: Cleveland Browns WR Corey Coleman's broken hand

    Brandon Bowers
    1:41 PM

In his first "Injuries in English" column, Brandon Bowers gives us the perspective of a Doctor of Physical Therapy on the injuries plaguing the Browns...
It seems as if the only breaks the Cleveland Browns?have caught this season have?been broken bones, as rookie wide receiver, ?Corey Coleman?broke his right hand in practice on September 21st. The Browns drafted Coleman with the 15th overall selection in the 2016 NFL draft, only to have his rookie campaign put on hold by his recent hand injury.?
WHAT IS IT? A broken bone and a fractured bone are one in the same.?Both terms refer to a crack in the bone or a bone that has been structurally compromised. Fractures can be classified into different categories based on what is revealed on x-ray; fracture types include stable, compound, comminuted, oblique and transverse. Bones are naturally strong structures, however, if subjected to enough stress in the correct mechanism, all bones are all subject to fracture. A broken hand will be painful and affect an individual's range of motion and strength of the hand as well as the ability to perform functional activities (football in this case). The degree of pain as well as range of motion and strength loss will vary from case to case based on severity and the individual. The Browns did not comment as to which bone was fractured.?
HOW IS IT FIXED? For Corey Coleman, the best medicine is going to be rest. In other cases, surgery may be indicated but the Browns rookie wide-out did not have to go under the knife. Bone healing time can vary based on the severity of a fracture as well as the bone that was injured. The Browns have put a 4-6 week timetable from the initial injury on Coleman's return, which is right on par with typical bone healing in the hand. In some cases during the resting phase a period of immobilization or casting is also warranted. While resting, it is important to maintain strength and range of motion in other joints throughout the arm such as the shoulder and elbow. Following the period of rest, efforts will be made in physical therapy to regain range of motion and strength of the muscles of the hand and wrist as to allow normal functioning to occur. Once evaluated by team medical staff, the individual will be allowed to gradually resume athletic activity.
MY TAKE. A broken bone in the hand of a wide receiver will certainly?affect his ability to catch passes and play at the level he needs to compete in the NFL. The Browns did not offer much specificity as tov which bone in his hand Coleman broke and only noted they expected a 4-6 week recovery window. Barring any setbacks I presume Coleman will be able to return on schedule and contribute to the Browns' offense as the team had expected him to earlier this season.

IMO it's very important for the Browns to get a win this week. These guys are trying to build something here and get these young men to buy in, but it's been rough. And "keeping it close" isn't good enough. After going winless throughout the preseason and up to this point of the regular season, it is time for the Browns to win. The schedule isn't getting easier. We gotta fight like hell and come out of Haslam's home state with a big W. Hue needs it. The players need it. The fans need it....If coach is going to keep these guys focused and playing hard, they need to get a win this Sunday in Nashville...I think it's possible.

  6. I wonder if the Browns are sending out an E-Mail to all their season ticket holders to tell them they are tanking this season. There is no way in hell that this team has this many injuries. Or I should say. This many long extended injuries. This team is losing out on purpose. Trying to keep guy's out as long as possible to make sure that they get the #1 pick.

Those MONEY BALL guys are smart. They know with this roster it's a 2 win football team. What is a front office's 1st job? To make money for their owner. With the Browns that's a check. The Browns need to figure out what they are going to do with that 1st pick. I say Peppers or trade it for a boat load of picks. I think that's what they are trying to do. Indy did it the year Luck came out. Only thing is. There is NO LUCK coming out this year. For the Browns their "LUCK" is multiple picks.

This team doesn't have a snow balls chance in hell to win a football game. So yes Irish. It is time to talk draft. This team is going to go and want's to go 0-16.

I don't have a problem with that. I think they should do it again next year. I mean really. Whats the difference between 0-16 and 3-13? NONE! They both are mediocre. At least this year they can blame it on injury. Gotta keep those FARMERS/FANS happy with the CASH COW,lol

An overhyped, overpaid, overrated turnover machine? I'm betting there will be a handful of those.

  8. He may have the worst OL in the game...he gets sacked a ton almost every game....Luck is a stud!!

  9. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

There is NEVER a sure thing in the draft...That's why the "tanking" theory is so stupid. There isn't a coach that would sign off on losing...It is silly to think that they devised a plan to have their #1 draft pick break a bone in his hand, or do you believe the doctors are in on it and the bone isn't really broken? Same with RGIII AND McCown...their injuries just a conspiracy because the front office thinks they are too good to force a 0-16 record?

Ridiculous... I would rather see this team win 3 games out of their last 11, than watch a team go 0-16 to insure they pick 1-4 spots higher in the draft crap shoot. Any fan worth his salt would want the same thing.

  12. Despite the injuries Hue has the Browns playing hard to the gun. This team is very young and will continue to get better. I know how hard it is to sit through bad seasons as a Rams fan but at least the Browns have a coach to build around. The Rams have Fisher and watching him lose games despite some talent on the field makes me go find the bottle. The Browns will turn it around, they have spunk and just need to mature to find the wins.

The Wentz Wagon pulled into Fargo during the Philadelphia Eagles? bye week and it left a nice little story in its wake.
Carson Wentz, the Eagles? rookie quarterback did a typical rookie thing: he headed back to the town in which he went to college and he hosted a party for all his friends. Wentz got a backroom at the Herd and Horns Bar and Grill (?Burgers, Beer, Bison?) and commenced to party after his alma mater, North Dakota State, beat Illinois State.

and the bean counters didn't see anything " special " in this kid ???
The group played darts and pool and, evidently, consumed enough burgers, beer and bison to run up a $1,000 tab.
Wentz, the No. 2 pick in the NFL draft, was only to happy to pick up the check and, get this, he left a $500 tip, CSNPhilly.com reports.
?As I was waiting on him, I had to look up. He is so tall,? said a woman who identified herself as Rachel, a junior at NDSU who works as a server at Herd and Horns. ?He was very humble, especially as a guest. He didn?t treat anyone like they were below him or anything.?
Wentz?s ride is pretty humble, too. With the tab settled, he?hopped into a 1996 Chevy pickup truck and left with his cousin.

Can we all stop with the Wentz talk?

Its bad enough from the national media. He wasn't a great QB playing against lower tier talent. In the off season he greatly improved his mechanics over what was seen at NDSU. The team won before he was there, it won without him half the season last year and is continuing to win. Like it was eluded to earlier, the draft is still a crap shoot and putting good QB "A" on bad team "B" is not necessarily going to be a winning recipe.

  15. How do you guys like those STUD Buckeyes the Browns passed on in this years draft? ZEKE is on his way to the HOF. BUST for BOSA is all over the place since he returned. But Hey the Browns are on their 6th, 7th and 8th QB in this 5 week season, lol

This year its Peppers. Im not a Harvard Grad but at least the Browns would have Bosa and looking at Peppers with the #1 pick.

  16. This year the "Money Ball" guru would take SS Pepper at #1 then C Eilflein with my 2nd 1st rd pick. So I would have drafted Bosa, Peppers and Eilflein. Give me those BIG 10 all-americans! Football players. Not those soft ass ACC lineman, man!

    Those are my picks
    #1a SS- Peppers
    #1b C- Eilfein

Now lets watch the Browns frack this up,lol the best defensive player in the country and the best Center in the country.

  17. Irish have you ever seen the movie North Dallas Forty? remember at the end of the movie when they missed the field goal. In the locker room the player said "When we say its a game, you call it a business. When we say its business, you call it a game.

Thats the Browns Irish. They play a game but its business. A business that does really well for its owner. But to us fans, they don't play a very good game. OH..... Bring on the Badgers!

Man, Bosa is all over the place against the Bronco's tonight. Woulda,Coulda,Shoulda
    The Browns motto since 1999,lol

  18. beachbum M.V.P. Manager Steelers

Bosa was your 4th choice. Ramsey was your choice, not that there is anything wrong with Jalen but he was your guy followed by Myles Jack, Butler and then Bosa...

  19. This is the most overrated statement in sports....the team is playing hard...isnt that expected of them to give their all every game? So if any team plays hard but doesnt win a game its ok? Eventually either your a good player and cause of that u will win games or u need to find different players

  20. Sorry Els but if thats their 1st 2 picks the media will have a field day again w the Browns and I would agree w them...u have guys like Garrett, Cam Robinson and your pick of a QB and u draft a SS?
