The Cleveland Browns have signed LB Cam Johnson to their active roster from Arizona?s practice squad. To make room on the roster, the team placed LB Nate Orchard (ankle) on injured reserve. In addition, LB Corey Lemonier has been added to the injury report as doubtful for personal reasons. Johnson is 6-4, 268 pounds and in his third NFL season out of Virginia. Last season, he appeared in one game for the Browns and spent 13 weeks on the club?s practice squad. Originally selected by San Francisco in the seventh round in 2012, Johnson has appeared in 16 career games with the 49ers (two in 2012), Colts (13 from 2013-14) and Browns (one in 2015). He spent training camp with the Browns this year and was waived during final roster cuts.? A native of Washington, D.C., Johnson graduated from Gonzaga College High School. He will wear No. 57. Orchard, a second round pick in 2015, injured his ankle last week at Miami. He registered four tackles in three games this season. Under the new injured reserve rules for the 2016 season, each team can designate one player to return. Designation does not need to be made until that player is able to return to practice. A player placed on injured reserve is eligible to return to practice in six weeks and must miss a minimum of eight games.
I thought Josh was at a point in the NFL's drug test program, where he was getting tested a couple times a week...So I doubt the paternity test had anything to do with it. I'm with Lyman on this one. I think he knew he was gonna fail his next wiz quiz, so he opted to enter a treatment program. Try to flush out the system in re-hab , with the idea of resuming his football career at a later date... Josh doesn't care about the team he plays on, and he never has. Josh cares about Josh, and I'm fine with the Browns cutting bait...He's embarrassed the organization enough.
Hey Lounge houndz *DANCE* Definitely disappointing news w/ Gordon. *HIGH* I agree its time to move on. Not sure how well the Browns will fare today. Hopefully we stomp them Redskins. Have a good week all. *SHADES*

tied at the half . baby Browns playing hard .I like this team . Kessler kinda reminds me of Brian Sipe . same size and attributes . maybe we have our QB ?
Terrelle Pryor is winning me over more and more. He's proving that he's putting in the work and is quickly becoming a team leader. His arrow is still pointing up, even after a long journey to get to where he is.
Late turnovers doom Browns Fred Greetham 10:17 AM The Browns had battled back to take a 20-17 lead, but three-straight turnovers turned into 14 Redskins points in a 31-20 loss The Browns couldn't get out of their own way. Three-straight offensive possessions that resulted in turnovers turned into 14 Redskins points and that was the difference in the 31-20 win by Washington. The Browns have now dropped to 0-4 and host the Patriots next week at FirstEnergy Stadium with Tom Brady returning to the field after his four-game suspension.? After spotting the Redskins a 14-0 lead in the first quarter, the Browns battled back and were on their way to increasing their lead late in the third quarter when the momentum shifted. Leading 20-17, the Browns moved all the way to the Redskins 16-yard line, primarily on the running and receiving of Isaiah Crowell. However, Hue Jackson decided to give the ball to fullback Malcolm Johnson for his first carry of the season and he fumbled the ball thwarting the drive and the Redskins took over at their own nine. The Redskins made the Browns pay with a 91-yard drive for a touchdown to take a 24-20 lead with 10:39 left in the game.? The Browns bounced right back and moved the ball again into Redskins territory, but this time, Duke Johnson fumbled the ball back to the Redskins.? The Browns stopped the Redskins, but after starting at their own two-yard line, Cody Kessler tried to throw to Terrelle Pryor, but Pro Bowl cornerback Josh Norman stepped in front of Pryor and intercepted the ball in Browns territory and put the nail in the coffin with another touchdown with 4:25 to play to make the final, 31-20. Extra Points Cody's Day:?Kessler finished 28-of-40 for 223 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Kessler finished with a rating of 81.6. He was 11-of-14 for 98 yards and a touchdown in the first half for a rating of 119.6 The Browns scored on their last three possessions of the first half and first of the second half and led 20-17 with 9:25 left in the third quarter. Kessler was particularly impressive on third down. He was 9-of-9 for 78 yards and a touchdown on third down through three quarters.? The Crow: RB Isaiah Crowell had a big day rushing with 112 yards on 15 carries. He also caught three passes for 22 yards. He had 39 yards on seven carries and a touchdown in the first half. RB Duke Johnson had 53 yards on nine rushes to go with 6 receptions for 31 yards. Pryor's Role: WR Terrelle Pryor continues to grow in his role as he caught his first touchdown pass in the second quarter as he beat Pro Bowl CB Josh Norman for a nine-yard score from QB Cody Kessler. Pryor caught for passes for 42 yards and a touchdown in the first half and finished with five receptions for 46 yards and a score. Pryor had one run for minus six yards. Jammin' Jamar: After having no interceptions in his career with the Dolphins, DB Jamar Taylor interecepted his second in as many games for the Browns and returned it 29 yards to the Redskins' 12 to set up the Browns second touchdown. Taylor led the Browns with seven tackles. Gary's Game: TE Gary Barnidge had seven receptions for 57 yards. Rookie WR Ricardo Louis had his best game with three receptions for 28 yards and WR Andrew Hawkins also had three receptions for 28 yards.? Bad Start:?The Redskins drove 75 yards on their first possession for a touchdown to open the game 7-0. They scored a touchdown on an 80-yard drive on their second possession and led 14-0 before the Browns scored. Poyer Caught: DB Jordan Poyer grabbed WR Desean Jackson for a 50-yard pass interference penalty that set up their second score. Later, DB Joe Haden was called for a pass interference, as well that set up a Redskins score. Parkey Redeemed: K Cody Parkey, who missed three field goal attempts in his first game with the Browns, including the chance to win the game, hit a 51-yard attempt as time expired to end the first half. Parkey hit a 45-yard attempt to open the second half scoring with 9:25 left in the third quarter, which gave the Browns their first lead of the game, 20-17. Cam's Impact: LB Cam Johnson, who was just signed on Saturday to replace LB Nate Orchard off of the Cardinals practice squad had the Browns first sack of the game in the third quarter as he hit QB Kirk Cousins from the blind side. He picked up the second sack later. Johnson had four tackles. Top Tacklers: DB Jamar Taylor, LB Emmanuel Ogbah and LB Christian Kirksey all had seven tackles, while DB Briean Boddy-Calhoun had the Browns third sack on a corner blitz. Rough Day for Johnson's: FB Malcolm Johnson's first carry of the season was a disaster. After the Browns had moved to inside the Redskins' 10, Johnson got the carried and lost the ball. The Browns were leading 20-17 as the third quarter was winding down looking to increase their lead. Later, Duke Johnson fumbled the ball back to the Redskins on their next possession.? Haden Back: After missing last week's game with a groin injury, CB Joe Haden was active, as was LB Corey Lemonier, who was added to the injury report on Saturday for 'personal reasons'. Lemonier was listed as doubtful, but was active.? Paea, Reiter Return to Face Redskins: Two players who were with the Redskins in training camp, started for the Browns in DL Stephen Paea and C Austin Reiter, who was injured late in the game. Bailey Benched: Jackson said he would let everyone know on Sunday if OL Alvin Bailey was benched for his OVI earlier in the week. The answer is 'yes' as OL John Greco moved back to right guard and rookie OL Austin Reiter started his first game at center. When Austin Reiter was injured last in the game, Greco moved back to center and rookie OL Spencer Drango moved to right guard. Inactives: All of the Browns inactives for this week's game were injured and not expected to play.?QB?Josh McCown (shoulder),?WR?Corey Coleman (hand),?DB?Tramon Williams (shoulder),?DB?Ibraheim Campbell (hamstring),?OL?Cameron Erving (chest/lung), TE?Seth DeValve (knee) and DL Carl Nassib (hand).

Im trying to figure out how there isn't more talk going on about Duke Johnson's "fumble"? I saw it on NFL Networks whip around coverage and they just made it out to be "same old Browns fumble away the game". That call was a joke! How can he stand up with the ball after about 3 seconds and the official is digging in the pile declaring WAS has possession? Haden's PI was a bad call too from what I saw. I guess this is what you get when you're the perennial laughing stock of the league.
I had youth football yesterday and have only made it through the first three quarters...the second coming of "the fumble" is coming up for me...I might chime in after I watch it. Johnson's(edit: Malcolm) fumble was a no brainer..I know he doesn't carry the ball much(first time this year), but he catches passes... This team is ready to turn a corner, they are almost over the hump. You can point to a few things in 3 of the first 4 games that could have won them any of the contests... Game 2, they were up 20-0 after the first quarter...Good God, hang on and take the win guys...nope Game 3, Kicker gets injured in a walk through Thursday practice..sign a guy Friday night, who flies in on Saturday so that he can catch another plane to an away game and doesn't practice with the long snapper and holder until Sunday morning before a 1:00 start...is asked to kick SIX field goals including a potential game winner at the end of regulation...misses 3, including the potential game winner..tough circumstances.. Game 4, they played this team very hard. I haven't seen the 4th quarter yet, but if what everyone is saying is true..they should have at least had a chance to win it there at the end. We are 0-4, but circumstances could easily have them at 3-1 right now, with really NO stars to speak of. This coaching staff have this young crew competing every week. I can't wait to see how far they bring them along by the end of their first season.
Yesterday was a prime example of a team that hasn't learned to "finish". It's Hue Jackson's favorite word, but for the fourth straight week, his Browns have failed to finish.... Cleveland really is a fun team to watch for the first three quarters of the game, but the inevitable 4th quarter meltdowns are getting old....Geez, Malcolm Johnson? Really? Crowell only had like 12 carries and he was gashing them all afternoon. It's not like he was getting over-worked...But no, down in the red zone, getting ready to take a two score lead as we head into the 4th quarter, we go with Malcolm Johnson making his first carry of the season. smh.....Game over. The dominoes fell from there. You could literally hear the wind come out of the sails. This team can't absorb a blow like that, plain and simple. We saw it in the opener with rocket high snap over our QB's head that led to a safety...We saw it in Miami with the missed kicks. The Browns do not handle adversity well at all, late in games...I guess it's to be expected with such a young team, but frustrating none the less. Somehow we've managed to make it through the first quarter of the season as the leagues only winless team, in spite of the fact that we have one of the NFL's best rushing attacks. The opener felt like we were over-matched. The last three have been brutal because they were all very win-able games that got away at the end because of our own mistakes...When we learn how to get out of our own way, we just might win a game or two... Make no mistake, this defense is terrible. If we don't make the splash plays we are in big trouble. Every team so far just drives all over the Browns, with very little resistance...We got a long way to go to shore things up on that side of the ball.....The offense has been exciting to watch. These Browns seem to have a knack for big plays. I like what I see from Cody Kessler....Watching the game yesterday, you could just tell how bad this team needs Corey Coleman....Pryor was solid again, but we don't have much else after that. It should be fun to see what this offense can do with a healthy WR duo of Coleman and Pryor, especially if the Crow keeps running like he has so far....
CLEVELAND, Ohio -- When a team adds great talent, it doesn't do any good unless there's something there to add it to. That's why the Browns couldn't be in a better spot through four games when it comes to the growth of the franchise. Sure, 4-0 or 3-1 would be lovely. But 3-1 also would potentially be nothing more than a heart-breaking, future-muddling facade. (See 2014 season.) The Browns have lost games they played well enough to win, which in a season like this is frankly more productive than winning games they should have lost. They probably have earned a 2-2 record but have been handed their first 0-4 start since 2012, and one-quarter of the way through the season they're the NFL's only winless team. That means they are winning the race to add great talent, either Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett or the quarterback of their choice, with the No. 1 pick in the 2017 draft. They are also showing that talent will be joining more than a hopeless collection of nothing.? Even through a rash of crippling injuries, there's something here. For years, the Browns have produced records better than they were, as strange as that sounds. In the eight seasons between 2008 and 2014, the Browns averaged 4.8 wins per season when they truly behaved much more like a 2-14 franchise. For once, the Browns are better than what their record shows. Sometimes that happens. And sometimes that serves to propel a franchise forward.? Take away bad kicking (the blocked extra point against Baltimore started the Ravens' comeback from down 20-0, and three missed field goals killed the hopes in the Miami OT loss) and a backup fullback's fumble against Washington on Sunday, and the Browns could even be 3-1. Truly. The Browns have five games left with teams currently 3-1 (two vs. Pittsburgh, plus New England, Dallas and Baltimore) and four more games against decent teams that are 2-2 or 2-1 (two vs. Cincinnati, plus Buffalo and the New York Giants.) If they were 3-1, the mood might be something like this. The Steelers looked awesome, how can the Browns win those games? The Patriots just lost and Tom Brady's back and you know he and Belichick are going to be ticked Sunday. Sure, Hue knows the Bengals, the Bengals can be beaten, but what about covering A.J. Green? What about the Dallas running game? And Odell Beckham against the Giants? The Bills' defense has looked really good. And the Ravens. The Ravens are going to be looking for revenge. A 3-1 record now wouldn't project to 12-4. Yes, Browns playoff talk in October, added to the Cavs title and the start of the Indians postseason run, would create a frenzy. But enough hypotheticals. The 0-4 reality is here. So is the reality that the Browns have the No. 11 ranked offense and No. 22 ranked defense and aren't anywhere close to hopeless. Just winless. Maybe you hated tanking talk before the season, and tanking isn't the point anymore. But the Browns are 0-4 and only one 0-4 team, the 1992 San Diego Chargers, have made the playoffs since the NFL-AFL merger. The playoffs are dead. If the playoffs are dead, the only thing 6-10 gets you, compared to 1-15, is greater distance from the draft's top talent. So it's not about tanking. It is about understanding what's best for the future. Look at the Cavaliers. Adding No. 1 pick LeBron James got the Cavs as far as the NBA Finals, but no farther. When James left, adding No. 1 pick Kyrie Irving, plus No. 1 picks Anthony Bennett and Andrew Wiggins and No. 4 picks Tristan Thompson and Dion Waiters, didn't even get them back to .500. It took adding James to Irving and Thompson, and turning Bennett and Wiggins into Kevin Love and Waiters into J.R. Smith. It took all that elite talent from the top of the draft. (The Cavs drafted five players in the top four in a four-year span. The Browns have drafted two players in the top four in the last decade - Joe Thomas and Trent Richardson.) Do you really wish the Cavs had been 39-43 in 2010-11 instead of 19-63 and decreased their chances of getting Irving with the top pick in 2011? Would that have made you feel better? Certainly, if a few breaks had gone their way and the Browns were 3-1, you'd take that and run, cross your fingers and hope some miracles might get you into the playoffs at 9-7 or 10-6. This is 0-4 with a roster full of holes. Lots of young players, lots of questions, no depth, few sure things. Still, maybe there are some guys on this roster who can be a Thompson or a J.R. Smith, maybe a Love or even an Irving. Cross those fingers again. But this team needs a football LeBron, too. The best chance to get that is at No. 1.? Be encouraged by the pieces that may be in place. Be smart about hoping for a superstar who can bring it all together. Here's a promise. If the Browns are lined up for a chance to take that player next spring, you'll be thanking Cody Parkey for those missed field goals last week and?Malcolm Johnson for his Sunday fumble. Winless, but not hopeless. Take that, cross your fingers and think about what adding some great to the good you've seen this season might be like.
Hue: "We're not rolling over" Fred Greetham 3:09 PM Browns Hue Jackson said despite the teams 0-4 record, the Browns are not "rolling over". BEREA, Ohio--The Browns are winless through the first quarter of the season--and Tom Brady and the New England Patriots are on their way to FirstEnergy Stadium. "No fun at all," Hue Jackson said on Monday when asked his thoughts about Brady set to play his first game after serving a four-game suspension. Despite the Browns starting 0-4, Jackson said he feels the Browns are close to winning. "This is my expectation," Jackson said. "I'm never going to change. From the day I came here, I expect to win."The last three games I would hope showed you ?that I expect to win," Jackson said. "This team is playing with the opportunity to win. We just have to finish those games. I would think if we hold on to the ball (against Washington), we all feel pretty comfortable have an opportunity to win the game. Two weeks ago (against Miami), we make a few field goals we have an opportunity, in everybody's opinion, ?to win that game. (Against Baltimore), We hold a 20-2 lead and if we just do anything we have an opportunity to win that game. "I know a lot of people look at our football team with a lot of young players, a lot of injuries, but I want to give them a little bit of credit," Jackson said. "We're fighting our tails off and our coaches are coaching their tails off. Contrary to whatever everybody believes we're not rolling over and saying 'uncle' and just walking out there and saying we're not going to play. We're playing our tails off to win and that's all that we're interested in." Extra Points Good News:?Jackson said that there is some good news in the injury department as he said that DL Carl Nassib (hand) and DB Ibraheim Campbell (hamstring) will return to practice this week.? McCown, Erving still Out:?Jackson said that he expects QB Josh McCown (shoulder) and OL Cameron Erving (chest/lung) to miss this week's game. It is likely that QB Cody Kessler will start his third-straight game. OL John Greco could stay at center for this week in place of Erving and OL Austin Reiter.? Reiter Done:?The Browns have now lost two starting centers this season as Jackson announced that C Austin Reiter tore his ACL and will be lost for the season. Reiter started in place of OL John Greco and OL Cameron Erving at center after being signed from the Redskins practice squad. Jackson said he played very well in his first start. With OL Alvin Bailey being sidelined after receiving an OVI last week, Reiter started in place of Greco, who moved back to right guard. After Reiter's injury, Greco moved back to center and rookie OL Spencer Drango was inserted to right guard.? Jackson said that Bailey would be considered to move back into the lineup this week. Telfer Hurt:?Jackson said that TE Randall Telfer suffered a high ankle sprain and will miss time. Bryant Waived:?It didn't take long for the Browns to part ways with DL Armonty Bryant as soon as he finished serving his four-game suspension from the NFL.Bryant, a seventh-round draft choice in 2013, appeared in 31 games and totaled 71 tackles, 8.5 sacks, two forced fumbles and one fumble recovery. He was suspended by the Commissioner for the first four weeks of the 2016 season.
Browns center Austin Reiter, who shined in his NFL debut Sunday at Washington, is out for the season with a torn ACL. Coach Hue Jackson announced the news at his Monday press conference. Reiter, who was signed off Washington?s practice squad last month, was the Browns? third different starting center in as many weeks. His injury occurred during the fourth quarter of Cleveland?s 31-20 loss to the Redskins. Both Jackson and quarterback Cody Kessler were high on Reiter?s performance, making it all the more disappointing to see his season come to a premature end. The Browns will evaluate their options at center in the coming days, and Jackson didn?t rule out right guard John Greco, who filled Reiter?s spot Sunday, returning to the position. Guard Alvin Bailey will be available after serving a one-game punishment for an off-field incident, and rookie Spencer Drango filled Greco?s spot in the plays following Reiter?s injury. Cameron Erving, the team?s starting center out of training camp, is out with a bruised lung and likely not available Sunday against the Patriots. Its a shame . the kid played well . way better than first round bust Erving whom I hope to never see again in a orange helmet . and Baileys fat ass is still on the roster ???
