It's not possible for this team to get through one week without something happening that makes the whole world point and laugh... It would be unbelievable only if it was ANY other franchise in sports...

It is being reported that he HASN'T reverted back to drugs/alcohol, but has gotten the results back from his paternity test and when he found out he was indeed a father, he was so stressed that he was having thoughts of using to deal with the stress, so instead of caving, he entered rehab to get help with coping.

I hope these reports are true...he needs to get his personal life straight, even if he never plays another snap in the NFL.

Josh Gordon has more than likely had 18 months to consider he was a father. No one is going to believe this girl didn't reach out to him the moment she found out she was pregnant. He simply blew her off (and his child in the process) and it took an arrest warrant to get him to comply with the test. So add deadbeat father to the list of things that describe Gordon.

There are guys in this world that do really dumb things when they are young and eventually grow up. And there are guys in this world that have serious character flaws. I'm leaning towards the latter when it comes to Gordon and if I had to bet I'd say he already failed another test and it won't be made public until after the appeal.

    What appeal ?????

Based on a new report, Josh Gordon?s decision to enter rehab may not have been as innocent as it has been made to appear.
According to Lane Adkins of Orange and Brown Report, the troubled Cleveland Browns receiver tried smuggling nearly a pound of marijuana onto a plane recently.
?According to sources, Gordon entered Cleveland Hopkins Airport via an underground entrance and was escorted to the upper level to pass through security for his flight. He was accompanied by a member of his security detail. A TSA representative on the upper level recognized Gordon and his security from the below ground level just moments prior. Due to the strange nature of Gordon being shuffled through the airport, the TSA pulled Gordon aside, checked baggage in the possession of he and his security and found what our source tells us was nearly one pound of pot in their possession.?
Adkins further reports that Gordon immediately tried to blame his security detail, saying the weed was not his.
The TSA is continuing to investigate this case and is reviewing video surveillance to determine the correct course of action going forward, per the report.
Before this incident, Gordon was on his last leg with the NFL. He had been suspended the entire 2015 season and the first four games of 2016 after being conditionally reinstated this summer.
If he is found to be culpable in this case, then Gordon is likely done as a potential NFL player. He already has his third strike, and the Browns are reportedly finished with him in light of his latest episode (more on that here).
Even if Gordon was somehow given one more chance to play, via the NFL, it seems unlikely that any team would be interested in bringing him in. One of the most talented receivers we?ve seen in ages, Gordon?s off-field problems far outweigh his gift for playing the game.
In addition to this serious issue, Gordon recently had a warrant out for his arrest in a paternity case.

Man, I was feeling sorry for Gordon...If that report is true bluez, this guy has already fallen off the deep end. His kid might be better off only receiving a monthly check.

Too many reports to sift through at this point...I'm cautioning on the side of Hue, no more talking about it until all the facts are laid out.

    Bluez,

Lane Adkins of OBR, published a followup to this article after he heard Back from TSA. In essence, the TSA reported that there was NO incident on file within TSA that corroborated the initial story concerning Gordon and over a pound of weed.

Maybe it's the cynic in me . . . but, I suspect Gordon has tested clean so far but knew his next test would ban him for life. He opted instead to check into rehab, flush his system and then, upon release from rehab, test okay and return to the NFL.

Doesn't sound as if he will return to the Browns however. Hue made it pretty clear in his Friday presser that the Browns are moving on.

The Josh Gordon Saga has all the good makings of a reality show or a soap opera.

The circumstances surrounding the sudden decision of Browns receiver Josh Gordon to enter rehab has sparked understandable speculation regarding the trigger for the move. Surely, something happened both to cause Gordon to abandon his imminent return to the Browns and to prompt coach Hue Jackson to slam the door on Gordon ever coming back.
Here?s what didn?t happen: Gordon wasn?t arrested, detained, or otherwise involved in an incident at the Cleveland airport.
Via Vince Grzegorek of ClevelandScene.com, a TSA spokesman says that Gordon went through airport security on Thursday without incident.
This directly contradicts ? and has prompted the expungement of ? a wildly inaccurate and illogical rumor/report that Gordon was caught with a pound (yes, a pound) of marijuana at the airport.
The story has popped up in plenty of places; Scout.com gave it real credence, but it has since deleted?the story without acknowledgement or explanation.
The biggest problem with the story was that, if it were true,?a public record would have been created. There was no public record or any incident involving Josh Gordon, which is the best confirmation that nothing happened.
That and, of course, the unambiguous statement from the TSA.

I also read there shopping Gordon . what team would offer a draft pick at this point ?

he is still under contract with the Browns .

Why is Bailey still on the roster ????

  11. ESPN.COM reports that Hue Jackson has said the TEAM is MOVING ON from Josh Gordon. It's about time. I can't believe people on here feel sorry for this jerk off. It's his own damn fault. He had the world by the balls, millions of dollars on the table and UP IN SMOKE IT WENT. Just like Cheech and Chong, lol

A team that would give their right nut for a super star in the NFL...It would most likely be a conditional future pick based on him returning and actually making something of himself in the NFL.

They would shop his rights...as he may actually never return

As Browns fans, let's just go ahead and talk about it, because we all know how the Josh Gordon saga is gonna play out. The Browns will cut ties very soon, and the second that happens, Josh will "see the light"! He will finally commit to getting serious about his life. It will take a while, perhaps a year or so, but at the end of his enlightenment, Bill Belichick with be standing there with open arms, heroically taking in this poor soul that finally found his way....Josh will be 27, and make no mistake, he will dominate the league for years as a Patriot. A true success story and another great chapter in New England football history...

An exaggeration? Perhaps.....but would it surprise ANYONE?

  14. Irish I agree. Keep stock piling those picks.

  15. TD you hit the nail on the head. Just like with Wentz. He wouldn't look as good as he does here. Not enough talent yet. I like the early rd picks. I even like what we've seen out of Kessler. Is he the future? We will see how this front office drafts. I don'tsee many free agents wanting to come here so it's up to the front office and the draft. I like

    Coleman
    Nassib
    Ogbah
    Kessler

Thats the 1st 3 rds right there. If these guy's can hit on 3 of the 1st 4 rds and find a gem later, then this rebuild will go smoothly and quickly.

I think the Browns need a C,RG and RT on the line yet. All depends where they put Greco(Who is doing a good job at center) Eiflin next year should be a Brown. All- American Center form OSU. Figure out what to do with JT and then RT.

The Browns need to find a pass rushing OLB and a run stuffing, ball hawk ILB. I like Kirksey but he is not a game changer

The Browns need to find another CB. Haden is inconsistent. The Browns need a CB that is either just as good or better. They also need to find a hitter at SS. I think Bluez had a photo of Eric Turner on here. Think that. Think the mid 80's Browns team. They had all of the above.

#1 priority to me is rebuild the line.
    #2 LBs
    #3 Defensive backs

No team would have to trade for his rights. All they would have to is wait for his contract to expire and use that time to monitor his behavior (which would be the prudent thing to do anyway).

  17. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

His contract won't expire Lym, he must complete 10 games(edit: Actually I think it is 6 games, now I can't remember, but I know it is at least 6 because Gordon didn't accrue a contractual season during his 10 game suspension) in a season to accrue a contractual season. The Browns can hold his rights for the next 50 years if he never returns to the field.

WHEN he returns to the field is when the Browns and other interested teams will need to make a choice. If everyone is satisfied with battling other teams for his services, then that will force the Browns hand to cut him.

If TWO teams out of 31 are not inclined to wait until he is cut by the Browns, then a deal can be made.

Just for example, if he were to try to re-enter this season...

A team would give up a 2018 draft pick...7th for the rights to Josh Gordon, moves to a 5th if he starts a game, moves to a 3rd if he gains (set standard of plays/yardage/TDs/etc...) over the course of the 2016 and 2017 seasons.

It's a pretty simple deal actually...you could even drop the 7th for the rights and simply base it on the on field stipulations, or nothing if he doesn't accomplish them. They wouldn't do the Browns any favors by tanking him in order to save a draft pick, because if they did he would become a free agent without them finding out if he was worth it to begin with.

The time to trade Josh Gordon has come and gone.

  19. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

I agree, I just don't see any point in cutting him when they own the rights and he doesn't count against a roster spot or salary. Not to mention, I feel they have an obligation to the player insurance wise, which they could have a player settlement. I just don't see any reason to do it now is all. Analytically speaking, it doesn't make sense to.

  20. beachbum M.V.P. Manager Steelers

I'm not sure about the insurance thing. Doesn't seem likely but I could be wrong. Aside from that I think you have to weigh the distraction of having him around and the precedent you are setting as a new coaching staff and new front office.

And then you have to be realistic about the situation. I know that people want to see this move by Gordon as a sign of maturity but it's just doesn't seem likely. Whatever his issues are right now he's less than a week away from returning to the football field with his teammates. What would be more therapeutic than resuming his playing career? Diving back in to the structure of an NFL week? Getting paid again?

I think it's far more likely he has slipped up again and then the question for the Browns front office and coaches becomes when if ever will this guy be eligible to play? Why keep him on the team if the likelihood of him ever contributing is so low?
