Oh ok...I thought maybe it had something to do with the arrest warrant issued today. So after everything the team has been through getting him this close to finally being a factor again, you just "randomly" decided today that we need to get rid of him because "he's gonna get arrested again" for something....smh...even by stopper standards, that's absurd. You even just mentioned the Coleman injury...lol! Cutting him now would be a whole new level of stupidity....
Arnt u tired of this guy? It's one thing after nothr...its not like their gonna win w him so send him on his way
Corey Coleman breaks hand Fred Greetham 8:10 PM Browns rookie WR Corey Coleman broke his hand in practice Wednesday. BEREA,Ohio--The Browns can't seem to catch a break--no pun intended. The Browns issued a statement Wednesday night that top pick wide receiver Corey Coleman broke his hand at practice. No timetable was given for his return. Coleman caught two touchdown passes last week and went over the 100-yard receiving mark for the first time.? Here is the statement from the Browns: ?An X-ray late this afternoon on Corey Coleman?s hand revealed a fracture. He was a full participant in today?s practice. The injury is being further evaluated in order to determine when he will return to play *WALL* *HELP*
You asking the wrong guy. I've always supported Josh Gordon. Smoking a little weed isn't the crime of the century, in spite of what Roger Goodell would have you believe...I can't think of anyone that's been punished more severely for it, other than perhaps Randy Moss back when he was in high school....Why is Goodell going one way while the rest of the nation is leaning the other, is anybody's guess...I think it's a joke. And I don't think of Josh Gordon as some sort of "menace to society" that will be arrested....He's harmless IMO...The Browns freaking need him, and he needs the Browns...That's how I see it.
Corey Coleman is expected to miss 4-6 weeks with a broken hand, but he will not require surgery. Things just keep getting worse for the Browns, who have now lost two starting quarterbacks, their No. 1 receiver, their starting center, and a rookie defensive end to injury in the first two weeks. With Cody Kessler under center, the offense was unlikely to light up the scoreboard even if Coleman was healthy, but they are now in dire straits.
Suspended WR Josh Gordon's warrant for a paternity test has been rescinded after he complied with a year-old court order to have his DNA examined. Per Gordon's attorneys, their client was "unaware" the request was ever made before Wednesday, at which national reports of Gordon's non-compliance surfaced. A hearing has been scheduled for November 8. An NFL spokesman said Wednesday that the situation would have no effect on Gordon's bid for reinstatement to pro football, which remains on track for Week 5. The woman claiming to be the mother of Gordon's child is currently on welfare.
CLEVELAND, Ohio ? Corey Coleman was right Wednesday night when he said "I will be back.'' The Browns' first-round receiver visited a hand specialist on Thursday morning, and learned that no surgery is required on his broken hand. He's expected back in 4-6 weeks, the club announced. That could put him back on the field somewhere between the Oct. 23 game in Cincinnati in week seven to the Nov. 6th at home against the Cowboys in week nine. It also means that Coleman and fellow receiver Josh Gordon could be coming back around the same time. Gordon comes off of his suspension in week five against the Patriots, and Coleman might not be far behind. Coleman broke the hand in practice on Wednesday when he had contact after making a catch, but didn't realize it was broken until after practice when he had X-rays. Later that night, he acknowledged what a difficult day it had been for him, to know he'd be out awhile just when he was getting rolling. "The past few hours have been real tough for me,'' he wrote on his Instagram account "Making it to the NFL was a dream that many didn't think I could accomplish. That road was full of many tough times. Breaking my hand in practice today was tough. But thankfully tough times don't last, tough people do. I. Will. Be. Back.'' The injury still represents a huge blow for rookie quarterback Cody Kessler, who will make his NFL debut Sunday against the Dolphins without his starting center in Cam Erving and his No. 1 wideout in Coleman, who leads the team with 173 yards and two touchdowns on seven receptions. He's also fourth in the NFL with a 24.7-yard average after receptions of 58 and 47 yards. Kessler is the Browns' third starting quarterback in three weeks after Robert Griffin III went down in week one with a fractured left shoulder and Josh McCown went down in week two with a left shoulder/clavicle that's not "totally broken'' in the words of Hue Jackson, meaning there might be a hairline fracture. Kessler and Coleman share the same agency, Athlete's First, and worked out at Proactive Sports Performance in California before the draft and in the offseason. "Corey, he is a competitor,'' Kessler said before practice on Wednesday."He just always comes out and is always a positive guy, always wants to compete, always wants to work hard. He just is one of those guys where it means a lot to him, and you can tell. As a teammate, you love to see that. Last week was obviously a big game for him, but he is never satisfied. He wants to continue to work and keep working hard. You can just tell that with his work ethic." In Coleman's absence, the other rookie receivers will have to step up. Fourth-rounder Ricardo Louis and Jordan Payton, who's been inactive the first two games, back up Terrelle Pryor at the Z, or tight end side. Rasher Higgins backs up Coleman and Andrew Hawkins at the X. The Browns can also call up Darius Jennings from the practice squad if necessary. Coleman is coming off a breakout game in which he caught he caught two touchdown passes and totaled 104 yards on five receptions. The Browns were also getting set to have him return punts, which he had been doing in practice. "Two touchdowns, five catches, over 100 yards,'' coach Hue Jackson said after practice but before he knew the hand was broken. "Keep doing that for me baby, and we are right on.'' Jackson also said, "there's another level for Corey Coleman, and I expect him to get there fast.'' Before practice, Pryor also praised Coleman. "That's a first-round pick, we did a great job picking him,'' said Pryor. "He's a great player. Corey, I know in college he battled hamstring issues and stuff like that. I thought he did an awesome job. It's different when you're a rookie. You have to learn how to take care of your body.'' Pryor has been impressed with Coleman's progress since camp. "It's a lot different running and practicing at Baylor or any college then coming here and practicing with Hue Jackson. It's fast ? fast-paced, everything, you throw the ball down the field. "I had a long talk with him about how to prepare and how to work on your body after practice and how you have to stay here extra hours. They're little things that get boring but it's good for you and the team because you're going to be available. Being available is the most important thing when you play in the league. I'm proud of the kid and look forward to seeing what he does this week." Or, hopefully for Coleman and the Browns, week seven.
The Browns aren't on the tube again this week . taking grandkids to the Lake fall festival . Not even going to bother wasting DVR space on it . Besides the dirt bag Phins that refuse to stand for the National Anthem .I don't care to watch the train wreck that will prolly happen this Sunday . My interest in the NFL takes a hit with each passing day .
Charlie Whitehurst will probably see the field sometime over the next couple of weeks. I'm really interested in seeing Kessler but I'm not optimistic about what he can do with the remaining receivers. The next couple of weeks are going to be tough to swallow.
I never payed attention to Kessler at USC, so I too am intrigued to see what he can do...Let's face it David, it's damn near impossible to keep the optimism going for our Browns. We all know Kessler isn't ready yet, and before he even gets started, he's already lost his starting center and his #1 WR option....That's brutal! Factor in Ndamukong Sue and Cameron Wake coming after him, and well, you know.... They say Kessler is smart and accurate...So we got that going for us. I've never seen a more "snakebitten" franchise in any sport....I hope it's not embarrassing on Sunday, but it's got the makings of a complete blowout. If Cody can hang in and keep us close, that will be great....
Lady's and gentlemen, your Sunday starting lineup for the offense: At QB Rookie Cody Kessler At Center, Right Guard John Greco At RG, TBA (presumably Alvin Bailey) At WR Rookie Ricardo Lewis (who was inactive during the first two games) I almost hate to send Kessler out there on Sunday against this Dolphins Wide 9 defense...I doubt he has ever faced this type of front line. I hope this offense if full of 3 step drop and release quick passes to Hawkins, Pryor and Duke...
Hue Jackson is confident Cody Kessler is ready for his NFL debut Fred Greetham Wednesday at 12:57 PM Hue Jackson is confident the coaching staff has designed a game plan tailored to the strengths of Cody Kessler to help him in his debut BEREA, Ohio--Ready or not, here they come. As the Browns prepare to head to Miami to take on the Dolphins Sunday, Hue Jackson is confident that Cody Kessler is ready for his NFL debut. ?He has had a good week," Jackson said. "He has done a good job. We all know he is very accurate. He knows where to go with the ball, how to go there with the ball. He knows how to get us in the right protection and do all those things. We are practicing. It is not a game. Thus far, the two days he has had, he has done really well. "I?m not surprised by that," he said. "It is exactly what I have seen since he started. He is just getting more reps at it and more turns at it, and he has done a good job.? Jackson was asked what he's told Kessler as far as what his approach should be in his first NFL start. ?Play the game," Jackson said. "Play the game. Play within yourself. Keep your poise. Run our offense the way we have coached you to run our offense. You don?t have to do more than what you need to do. You are just a part of this. Obviously, he has to manage himself. I can?t manage a man that way. He has to manage himself. "He has played at a high level in a big time college program," Jackson said. "There is nothing like playing in the National Football League. For me not to understand that he will be amped up and ready to go but at the same time, I think he knows there are a bunch of other guys on the other side that are after him. That is just life in the National Football League as a quarterback. He will be ready to go.? Kessler feels his background in a pro-style offense at USC will help him as he starts. ?I was fortunate to be in a pro-style offense when (Alabama offensive coordinator) Lane Kiffin was there," Kessler said. "It was all under center, slowed down, break the huddle, all that pro-style offense. When Coach Sark (former USC Head Coach Steve Sarkisian) took over, it stayed the same but he sped it up. He kind of got more adjusted and acclimated to college football. Things were speeding up, but still the same concept. "Terminology is a little different but, that is the same thing here," Kessler said. "A lot of the stuff that I did in college, it is that west coast offense. You are used to the pro-style offense, but all the terminology changes and some coaches teach it different. Some coaches want certain things on different plays, but being able to look at a play or concept and say, ?OK, I?ve done this before,? has helped my process up to this point.? Jackson said the Browns offense is a bit different from what he did in college. ?We are a little different, though," Jackson said. "He has had to adapt. He really has, and I think he has done a good job. He is very bright and he works at it. He is a tireless worker. He has adapted our verbiage, our terminology, and I think he has done a good job. It does help that he has been around some people that maybe myself and (associate head coach ? offense) Pep (Hamilton) knows because it gives him an opportunity to bounce things off of them and understand what we are trying to accomplish a little bit better.? Andrew Hawkins thinks Kessler will be ready from what he's seen of the rookie. ?He has put a lot of work in, a lot of work," Hawkins said. "He is taking the practice reps as if they are game reps. He is just taking it seriously and doing what he has to do to get himself prepared. "That is half the battle," he said. "He is a young guy. He is going into his third NFL game, and he is already a starter. What we have seen this week in practice, we feel good about it. We think he is going to show up on Sunday, and that is what we are planning on.? Ricardo Louis agreed. ?He is really good with the West Coast offense," Louis said. "Short routes, throwing slants, getting it out of his hands quickly is one of the things he?s good at. I think that gives him a lot of confidence moving forward. Coach (Jackson) is telling us to help the quarterback out. We have to get open, catch the ball for him, make plays for him so he gets more confidence back there. Obviously, our offense has to block for him the entire time.?? Eleven-year veteran quarterback Charlie Whitehurst just joined the Browns, but he's seen a lot of quarterbacks in his time in the NFL and has been impressed with Kessler already. ?He kind of operates not like a rookie," Whitehurst said. "He really takes charge out there and seems like he has a really good grasp of the offense. I don?t know what kind of reps he has gotten thus far ? I wasn?t here ? but being the third guy, I think he has put in a week?s work that has given him a chance to perform on Sunday.? Jackson thinks Kessler's experience and background will help him be successful at the NFL level. ?Oh yeah, all those things play into it," Jackson said. "You want a guy that is unflappable a little bit, a guy that does not get too high, does not get too low, just stays very consistent, a guy that can demonstrate poise and toughness and resiliency because that is what this game demands. Yeah, he had a lot of characteristics that we liked, and he needs to display those this weekend. "I think he will," Jackson said. "As I have said before, I know a lot of us make it about Cody, it is really about our team. In order for Cody to play well, his team around him has to play well offensively, defensively, and special teams. It will not just be him. He just has to do his part to the best of his ability.? Kessler started his preseason with a beautiful back shoulder touchdown throw to Rashard Higgins against the Packers, but his preseason went downhill from there. He seemed overwhelmed, getting sacked seven times and had two safeties. Sports talk radio in Cleveland, as well as the fans have not been overly optimistic this week about Kessler's first start. Jackson isn't concerned about that. ??You said you are stuck on that?" Jackson said. "Fans are? OK, and I respect that. I am not worried about what our fans are stuck on. I?m not worried about that. We are going to find out on Sunday. I can?t speak to what our fans are stuck on. I am stuck on a lot of things, too. I am not trying to sound arrogant in saying that, but I?m just saying, he has to play. "He has to play," he said. "I can?t tell you what is going to happen on Sunday. All I can tell you is we have a game on Sunday, and he is going to go out there and play so the fans will be able to judge it then. Whether they feel good about it or bad about it, they are entitled to feel the way they want to feel, and I understand that.? Extra Points Haden Questionable:?As if the Browns don't need any more bad news, DB Joe Haden missed the walk through Friday with a groin injury. He is listed as questionable for the game. Murray Injured?:Hue Jackson said that K Patrick Murray suffered some type of injury to a knee during practice this week. He didn't know if it was the knee that tore an ACL last season that caused him to miss the season with Tampa Bay. Murray beat out K Travis Coons during the preseason, but had an extra point blocked last week and missed a 52-yard field goal. Jackson said the Browns won't know until later today if they will need to bring a kicker for this week's game. McCown Broken Collarbone?: Defensive coordinator Ray Horton said that QB Josh McCown played last Sunday with a broken collarbone, but Jackson said he misspoke. Jackson said McCown might have some displacement, but has not bee told McCown had a broken collarbone. He re-iterated that McCown is "week-to-week."? Five Out : WR Corey Coleman (hand), OL Cameron Erving (chest/lung), QB Josh McCown (shoulder), DL Carl Nassib (hand) and DB Ibraheim Campbell (hamstring) missed the entire week of practice and will not play Sunday. DL Stephen Paea (elbow), DL Danny Shelton (knee) and TE Randall Telfer (neck) are expected to play. Rookie DB Derrick Kindred will start in place of Campbell.
And it still continues: PK Patrick Murray was placed on the injury report as questionable after he hurt a knee in Friday's walkthrough. Hue Jackson said if necessary the team would find a kicker for Sunday.
Hangs sign on door ..yup going racing Eldora bound for the greatest show on dirt . The World of outlaws sprint care series *DANCE*
So coach Jackson thinks Kessler is ready, and he's confident in Sunday's gameplan....After watching Cody play in the preseason, I'm a little surprised to hear the coach talk about his young QB's mastery of the playbook. He must have come a long way in these last couple weeks. Maybe getting reps with the first string has helped with the learning curve. There aren't many folks that think the Browns can even keep it close....I hope Kessler has a good showing, and I guess it's a good sign that Hue Jackson is confident, but the odds sure seem stacked against .... GO BROWNS!
Well there go our SB hopes...... Kessler will do what he does. I hope it isn't a preseason re-do for him, or we will look as bad as the Texans last night. Whew, that stunk! At the current rate of attrition, we'll need a roster 150 guys deep! They say the sun will come up tomorrow, but in cleveland it's like the Great White North, the land of the eternal night. Lite a candle and pray. I will.
Hue's rep is on the line this week. An ugly loss, with Kessler looking like he did in preseason will not help him keep this team's psyche afloat. I have voiced the concern about that very issue before, and this week puts a lot on Hue. Yeah we can point to the losses of key guys, but he has to find something in his team this week to show they are going to be able to play with their opponents, or the wheels will start falling off, injuries will multiply, and losses pile up. Not saying he has to win, just not embarass Cleveland, and get some juice from this already heavily squeezed lemon. Here's to a tall glass of lemonade Sunday
It has the possibility of a REALLY ugly weekend for Hue and the Browns....He absolutely needs his young QB to show something.... I don't think anybody is expecting a win, but like I said earlier this week, if Cody Kessler looks like Brady Quinn or Brandon Weeden or whoever, there's gonna be a lot of anger spewing about how we handled that last draft.... ....I'm certain Browns fans will be keeping an eye on Carson Wentz going against the Steelers...If he somehow manages to beat Pittsburgh and move to 3-0, it's not gonna look good for Sashi, Paul or Hue...
