Erving hospitalized with pulmonary contusion Fred Greetham 9:10 PM Cameron Erving was hospitalized with a pulmonary contusion CLEVELAND--?There's some good news and some bad news with Cameron Erving. The good news is it appears that Erving is going to be alright physically. The bad news is he's likely going to miss some time.? After being taken to the hospital as a precaution after the game,?Erving was diagnosed with a pulmonary contusion and he will?remain in the hospital overnight for observation.? Erving was experiencing cramps toward the end of the game, as well as discomfort in his chest and ribs. He is in stable condition and is undergoing further testing at University Hospitals. In 2013, Barkevious Mingo suffered a similar injury in his first preseason game and missed the rest of the preseason that year and it lingered into the regular season. The laymen's term for the injury is a 'bruised lung'. The Browns have no other centers on the roster, but are expected to move right guard John Greco to center and insert Alvin Bailey into Greco's position at guard, if Erving cannot play next Sunday.
Erving SUCKS ..with that said I'm glad he is okay .butt ..we need a center . this soft bust aint gonna get it done !
Browns quarterback Josh McCown will have an MRI Monday after injuring his non-throwing shoulder during Sunday?s loss to the Ravens, PFT has learned. NFL Network?s Michael Silver reported Sunday that ?the Browns are bracing themselves for possible bad news? on McCown?s status. McCown was holding his left arm or shoulder when he was taken to the locker room briefly late in Sunday?s first quarter, and trainers also spent extensive time with him on the sideline in the second half. He appeared to be in pain throughout the second half but finished the game. McCown started Sunday?s game after the Browns placed Robert Griffin III on injured reserve. Griffin suffered a shoulder injury late in the season opener. The only other quarterback currently on the active roster is rookie Cody Kessler, a third-round pick last April. Kessler struggled mightily in the preseason. The Browns added quarterback Kevin Hogan, a fifth-round pick of the Chiefs last April, to their practice squad earlier this month. If McCown will miss any time the team will almost have to add a veteran quarterback, but the pool of available veteran free agents is thin. The Browns are loaded with draft picks over the next two years, so perhaps they?ll pursue a trade for an experienced player who?s currently in a backup role if necessary.
If the same thing had happened to the Cowboys or Steelers or Patriots, it would be the lead story on EVERY highlight show.... but it's Cleveland, and nobody cares....They don't even mention it in the highlights. You can't even find highlights of it. The NFL just swept it away as if it never happened... So in a nutshell....Pretty typical Sunday for the Browns.
cBS did mention it . surprised .I imagine Lombtards butt boy Jason LaDUCHE will counter it by tomorrow . He hates everything Browns *ROSE*
Being a Browns fan, I hope I am decidedly wrong. It wasn't about his talent, it was his attitude. I expect he will have another game or two like this. I hope his career spent entirely in Cleveland is littered with them every week. What I saw in his history could still come out though. For the record, I still believe Will Fuller is more talented..which was the original argument to begin with.
I'm still trying to figure out how you diagnosed an "attitude" watching game film. And Will Fuller will never be more talented.
CLEVELAND, Ohio ? Josh McCown's left shoulder injury is believed to be serious and the Browns are gearing up to start rookie Cody Kessler or another quarterback if they determine Kessler isn't ready. McCown will undergo an MRI on the shoulder today, but based on the amount of pain he's in, the Browns are expecting him to be out awhile. Kessler, the Browns' third-round pick out of USC, is next in line to start. But if the Browns deem him not ready, they'll bring in a veteran to hold down the fort. They begin a grueling stretch of four out of their next five on the road, beginning Sunday in Miami. McCown's injury, suffered in Sunday's 25-20 loss to the Ravens, came one week after Robert Griffin III fractured a bone in his left shoulder. Griffin is out at least 8-12 weeks, but could miss the entire season. He's currently on injured reserve for at least eight weeks. McCown suffered the injury in the first quarter after helping the Browns to a 20-0 lead with two touchdowns passes to Corey Coleman. They also scored on an 85-yard TD blast by Isaiah Crowell in a fast and furious opening stanza. But the game unraveled on a blocked extra point attempt, the same time McCown was heading to the locker room to have his shoulder examined. He came back out at the start of the second quarter. He was checked again on the sidelines in the third quarter, but refused to come out. The Ravens scored 25 straight points while McCown was gutting it out through the pain. Kessler warmed up both times, and almost had to play, Hue Jackson said. McCown had X-rays after the game, and his left arm hung close to his side as he walked back into the locker room. He was in so much pain he needed help putting on his T-shirt. At times, he grimaced. He put on a brave face during his post-game press conference, but it was evident he was in pain. He also welled up with tears when describing how badly he wanted to be out there for his teammates and to set a good example for his two young sons, both middle-school quarterbacks, who came up from Charlotte, N.C., for the game
Pat McManamon ESPN Staff Writer When it rains ... Rookie DE Carl Nassib, who played so well in the opener, has a broken hand and will need surgery. It will be determined after surgery how long he'll be out. It was a tough second game with a blown 20-point lead and injuries to Nassib, C Cam Erving (bruised lung) and QB Josh McCown (left shoulder).
The Browns list of "interesting" ways to lose a game just keeps growing: 1. The Drive 2. The Fumble 3. Dwayne Rudd's helmet toss 4. Bottlegate 5. Last year's Monday Night game vs. Ravens: Possible game winning FG blocked and returned for a TD. 6. Pryor's taunting penalty I forget any others? *WALL* *CRAZY* :[
How dare you forget "Red Right 88" ????? But I STILL maintain the Browns did not lose that game because of a taunting call on one single play. They lost it because they gave up 25 unanswered points over 3/4ths of the game.
Egads!!!! Must have purged the memory of that heartbreak.......... And yes, Lym, they never should have been in the position to lose based on one bad call. It was the changes made by Balt on offense that led to a lack of getting to/pressuring the QB in the 2nd half that doomed them. As well as a few other things.
