I am wrong on this part. The Chiefs cut Murray prior to cutting Hogan so Kevin would have been the player that they kept on the PS.

I can appreciate all of that Tim...I am just so disappointed in the effort to revive RGIII that my view on current QBs is skewed beyond repair right now. I have fallen into the "QB of the future must come from the top ten of the draft" point of view.

If nothing else, it is good conversation during yet another point of turmoil in the Browns existence.

I want this team to win at least 6 games and screw themselves out of a top QB in the draft, just the way I am built. I would rather they beat the team that will take their QB in that draft, than sit through another loss.

However, being realistic, and basing this on the first game against a team I thought would be on par with the Browns and being handled in every aspect of the game by that rookie top of the draft QB...I am now assuming that this team simply is not ready to compete in the NFL in 2016 and will be picking very high in the draft once again...possibly even the top overall spot. This goes beyond the QB, as this team didn't perform well at any aspect needed to win a professional game.

For that reason, and that reason only, I am looking at the draft and what will possibly be available to be the future QB of the Browns.

It is disheartening to be this down after only one ball game...I can't remember a time in the past 19 years that it has happened to me this early...but I do think they are building the team the right way and I do believe this will get turned around with this regime. I simply believe in Hue Jackson.

One other thing that I didn't mention (in an attempt to increase your confidence in Hogan :) ), the Chiefs actually resigned Bray to bigger money prior to his seeing any time as a starter. The coaching staff really believes in Tyler and as long as he was healthy he was going to be the #2 behind Smith before the signing of Foles.

I think that very little can be learned from what the Browns are looking to do long term in just this one off-season.

I'm probably in the minority in my belief that Paul DePosta and Hue Jackson could have losing campaigns in their first 2 seasons and not be on the hook in season number 3 for anything more than an improved record and obvious signs of having the quarterback position filled for the future, and that could be done in the draft or FA depending on how things shake out. If after 3 seasons there is no franchise or viable starting quarterback on this roster than I see the Browns looking at other options for GM and HC.

This is less of a rebuild then some situations, but it is still a rebuild.

  5. I'd like to see them just go all in with the younger guys. We know what we can get out of Josh McCown and it's not enough to win a Super bowl so why win 6 games, miss the playoffs and pick lower in the draft? It blows but I'm all in with trying to get as much talent on the roster.

  6. In 2 years Kelly ( Ol Miss) and that freshman QB from Texas will be coming out. Kelly is the nephew of Jim Kelly. Watch that young man throw the football. I hear people talking about Mayfield from Okl. But we will see more of him tonight vs the Buckeyes. I don't like spread offense QB's for the pro game. You need an athletic, intelligent, strong armed pocket passer. You can keep Watson and Jackson. Only way I draft a running type QB is if he's big like Newton or Winston.

The Browns must be reading my post because they brought in 4 DB's and an OL. Doran Grant from OSU is one of the DB's. Im the Browns I trade Thomas. Take my 1st pick draft a LT, 2nd 1st rd pick DB/LB (OLB or ILB), 3 rd 1st rd pick Eiflin, center from OSU. 2nd rd on draft starting need. Tank and get your QB. By the way, they are tanking know.

Kelly is a total ahole as well...I don't want anything to do with him. He thinks he's entitled because of his uncle.

Robert Griffin III is out, possibly for the season. Josh McCown is in. And the Browns are making the most of it.
?He?s going to be awesome Sunday,? receiver Terrelle Pryor said, via Mary Kay Cabot of the Cleveland Plain Dealer. ?I can?t wait. I can?t wait to go play for him and I can?t wait to catch balls from him.?
McCown has been spending time with guys like Pryor and Josh Gordon away from work. And that is helping?forge a bond.
?Absolutely, you have to build trust, no matter who you?re playing with,??Pryor said. ?You have to know that guy is going to have your back. The best way to do that is to spend time together. It doesn?t have to be for a long time. Go to dinner or whatever.?
The praise isn?t confined to the guys who have a clear interest in keeping the quarterback happy.
?Everybody?s excited about Josh,? cornerback Joe Haden said. ?They know what he can do for this team. I just felt bad for RGIII, all the work that he put in, and how much it really means to him. But as far as Josh coming in, I?m just super excited that he?s still on this team. We feel very confident in Josh.?
The confidence gets its first test on Sunday against the Ravens. Earlier this week, the ?cohesion? in the organization about which McCown raved on PFT Live was tested, too, with someone in the front office leaking to Adam Schefter of ESPN the notion that coach Hue Jackson?had been?too focused on fixing Griffin.
Jackson should be upset about that, and a good showing on Sunday will give him extra juice for sending a message that apparently needs to be?communicated within the walls of the facility: If you have a problem with me, bring it up with me and not with someone else.

Agreed . people keep trying to reinvent the wheel .I hate the sissy boy spread offense . you can use some elements of it but it hasn't worked and it will never work in the NFL .

Give me a big strong QB with some mobility . one that STAYS in the pocket anf goes through his progressions . not one that runs around like a window licker when his first read is not there .

The Browns aren't televised today and I really don't care . with all these disrespecting IDIOTS kneeling instead of standing .I hope there ratings take a major nose dive .

KARMA .. if the ones that don't stand somehow lose a knee ..to phuquing bad asshat !

  10. Manziel was an A-Hole Irish, lol You liked him. Yeah he pimped us all Irish. Just like the Browns to their loyal fan base, lol You need attitude to play QB in this league. Rodgers is not a douche bag? Manning they said was a big douche bag. Big Ben is a douche bag, Brady is a douche. Why Irish? THEY WIN and win BIG.

The Browns pull the upset today .

    Browns - 24

    Rats - 20

I don't know how many more we will win this year . its not tanking its a young roster that's going to take there lumps .

    I would love to win 8 games . I don't see that happening .

Still not sure about the bean counters in the FO .. time will tell .

Gooo Browns ..you better stand today and show respect !! if not ..leave the country ! I will help your sorry ass pack .

The Browns' decision to pass on Carson Wentz in the draft combined with the rookie's sterling performance against them in Week 1, a potential season-ending injury to Browns starter Robert Griffin III and comments from Browns official Paul DePodesta intimating the Browns didn't believe Wentz would be a "top-20 quarterback" have created a tempest in Cleveland. As it turns out, not everyone involved in scouting quarterbacks in Cleveland before the 2016 draft was in agreement.

According to numerous sources with knowledge of the situation, several of the more seasoned scouts and evaluators the Browns parted with prior to the draft -- an unusual time to release such employees -- actually preferred Wentz to quarterback Jared Goff and believed him to be the greater pro prospect. It was clear to many in the organization dating back to December, when the Browns held intense draft meetings, that the newly-empowered analytics department, soon to be spearheaded by DePodesta, strongly preferred Goff. And new coach Hue Jackson and his offensive coordinator, Pep Hamilton, were not high on Wentz but prized Goff, sources said, and made that clear to the rest of the organization.
The Browns opted to release six members of the organization -- many of them experienced, old-school scouts -- just three weeks before the draft. At the time, they were bailing on the quarterback market in the draft (and Wentz in particular) and shopping their second-overall pick to other teams. Many of those men, a group that included former general managers and personnel directors, had never met DePodesta personally before being let go, and, with their contracts set to expire after the draft, they were going to be let go in 2016 as part of downsizing anyway.
But the timing of their release raised eyebrows then and continues to generate chatter now given the high-profile way in which their quarterback decision has played out and the fact that the segment of personnel they let go were more pro-Wentz than others.
Wentz has played just one game, and will surely face some hurdles in his rookie season, but the reviews on his debut were overly positive. The Browns could end up with the first pick in the draft, and evaluators are already gushing over Notre Dame junior quarterback DeShone Kizer. The Browns will almost certainly be taking a passer very high in 2017.
