Crex great minds think alike . i look for our LB'S to more than make up for one knuckleheads sack total . ours are not knuckleheads . everyone is talking about Gordon & the strike rule . where does all of this leave Miller at ?
I'm siding with Irish on the Miller debate. The dude is a dominating defensive force. Clearly he needs to get his chit together "off" the field, but there is no denying his talent...Hopefully he's learned from his minor mistakes. Not showing up for court on a traffic violation? That's just stupid....Like a lot of guys his age, it's time for him to grow up and be accountable....I could live with it though. For a LB with that much talent, no question, I could live with it....The Carolina/Denver game sticks in my mind. Even as athletically gifted as Cam Newton is, he couldn't get away from Von Miller. Miller dominated the game from the OLB position... If you're a playmaker, I can tolerate a little sketchiness....I wanted the Browns to take the "honey badger" in rd. 3. Instead we took McFadden, and Mathieu went with the very next pick to the Cards....I'll always compare the two...Time will tell which player has the better career. We obviously took the "safer" pick, but it's one we may ultimately regret....If TM keeps his arse out of trouble, I don't think there's much doubt who the "playmaker" is....
Sunday Morning Sex Upon hearing that her elderly grandfather had just passed away, Katie went straight to her grandparent's house to visit her 95 year-old gran...dmother and comfort her. When she asked how her grandfather had died, her grandmother replied, "He had a heart attack while we were making love on Sunday morning." Horrified, Katie told her grandmother that 2 people nearly 100 years old having sex would surely be asking for trouble. "Oh no, my dear," replied granny. "Many years ago, realizing our advanced age, we figured out the best time to do it was when the church bells would start to ring. It was just the right rhythm. Nice and slow and even. Nothing too strenuous, simply in on the Ding and out on the Dong." She paused to wipe away a tear, and continued, "He'd still be alive if the ice cream truck hadn't come along."
On this day in Browns history, the team earned a 56-31 win over the Los Angeles Rams in preseason play. Though it was televised nationally and shown in Cleveland, most Browns fans probably didn?t see it. They were already fast asleep. But the ones who were able to stay awake 49 years ago tonight, on Aug. 15, 1964, to watch a preseason game against the Los Angeles Rams that didn?t begin until 11:15 p.m. local time, were glad they did. They got a preview of things to come for both that memorable Browns season and also a soon-to-be star. Rookie wide receiver Paul Warfield caught three touchdown passes in his first pro game to lead a supercharged Browns offense in a 56-31 preseason victory at the Coliseum. It?s still the most points the Browns have ever scored in a preseason game. Warfield, the Browns? first-round pick in the 1964 NFL Draft, had missed the team?s 26-7 loss to the San Francisco 49ers the week before in the preseason opener because of his participation in the College All-Star Game against the defending league champion Chicago Bears. But the product of Warren (Ohio) Harding High School and Ohio State, and now a Pro Football Hall of Famer, made his presence felt against the Rams by catching scoring passes of 27, 11 and eight yards. It was described by Browns beat writer Chuck Heaton of the Cleveland Plain Dealer as ?as sparkling a pro debut as the National Football League has seen in many a year.? Warfield?s running mate at wide receiver, Gary Collins, caught touchdown passes of 27 and 17 yards. Quarterback Frank Ryan completed 13 of 18 passes for 267 yards and four scores in just one half. With nothing left to prove, he was lifted from the game at halftime with the Browns comfortably ahead 35-3. Back-up Jim Ninowski came on and threw two touchdown passes, including a 91-yarder to wide receiver Clifton ?Sticks? McNeil. The game against the Rams -- and the following two preseason contests, 42-7 and 35-14 wins over the Pittsburgh Steelers and Detroit Lions, respectively -- provided a glimpse of just how strong offensively the 1964 Browns would be during the regular season. They scored 415 points, still a team record, en route to winning the NFL championship. That?s despite the fact they played just a 14-game schedule. The Browns, who averaged 29.6 points per game, routed the arch rival New York Giants twice, 52-20 and 42-20, blew past the Philadelphia Eagles 38-24 and defeated the Lions 37-21. Then in the league title game, they took apart the NFL?s stingiest defense during the regular season in a 27-0 victory over the Baltimore Colts. Collins grabbed three touchdown passes from Ryan to lead that victory. He finished the regular season with eight scoring receptions, second-best on the team to Warfield, who had nine along with a club-high 52 catches overall. Ryan led the NFL with 25 touchdown passes. The passing game, along with the running of Jim Brown and Ernie Green, made the 1964 Browns offense tough to stop, a fact that was evident that late night in Los Angeles.

the Lions front 4 is pushing the Browns O Line around pretty good . Fairley has owned Greco . not good
I keep picking the Browns defense in fantasy leagues. Also taking Richardson, Gordon and Cameron when I can. Go Browns and Rams
CLEVELAND (92.3 The Fan) ? The Browns escaped their preseason opener without any major injuries. The same could not be said for game No. 2 as a total of 5 players departed with injuries. Running back Dion Lewis sustained a broken fibula and rookie linebacker Barkevious Mingo remained hospitalized overnight with a bruised lung following the Browns? 24-6 win over the Detroit Lions. ?It was a tough night from an injury perspective,? head coach Rob Chudzinski said. ?That?s the game. Guys get injured and other guys get opportunities and have to step up.? Mingo, who was injured in the first half, was taken to the Cleveland Clinic where he is being held for precautionary reasons a team spokesman said. Chudzinski wasn?t sure how Mingo got hurt. Right guard Jason Pinkston left in the first quarter due to an ankle injury after left guard John Greco was pushed into him from behind by Lions defensive tackle Nick Fairley. ?That?s what happened, it?s unfortunate,? Greco said. ?I feel for him obviously. You don?t to be responsible for one of your own guys going down. I just wish the best for him and hope for a speedy recovery.? Chudzinski said that x-rays were negative but Pinkston was on crutches and in a walking boot as he left the stadium. With Pinkston down and Shawn Lauvao still out with an ankle injury, rookie Garrett Gilkey was pressed into service. The injury to Lewis, who was carted off to the locker room after being helped to the sideline by trainers in the 3rd quarter, came on the same day that fellow back Montario Hardesty underwent arthroscopic knee surgery. Lewis was having a tremendous camp and the loss of him ? potentially for the season ? could be significant. ?He?s a big part of the offense, he?s a big part of the team,? running back Trent Richardson, who ran for 33 yards on 6 carries, said. ?With his 3 years in the NFL, [I've been] learning more from him every day, how quick he is and just a great person. ?I don?t know if we?re going to lose him for the season but if we do, it?s just a lot of opportunity for guys.? Tight end Gary Barnidge sustained a sprained shoulder and a groin injury sidelined kicker Brandon Bogotay in the 4th quarter. Bogotay, who was supposed to handle the kicking duties for the entire game, said that he felt a ?tingle? in his groin and trainers decided to shut him down but he doesn?t expect to miss time ? at least he hopes not. ?I better be ready for the next game,? Bogotay said. ?I think I will be.?
Lewis had no business being out there that long . Greco got ate up by the Lions D Line . every time i looked up he was getting manhandled & pushed back . get in the weight room pussy ]:-> Lewis may be done for the season . thay sucks . why didnt they play Maysonet or whatever the hell is name is in the second half ? i hate when they play main players to long in meaningless games & on special teams . thats why you have backups to play special teams
That lewis injury is gonna sting Hopefully this makes them pull back alittle these last two games to avoid any more big injuries.
Injuries suck, suck and suck some more... But, they are part of the game. You can't game plan to avoid injuries, otherwise you will never improve. I am sure before the injury, for example, Lewis was thankful for the opportunity to show what he can do. He just made the team regardless of the injury. Now they will need to go out and get another back, imo, but they are available. Someone like Javon Ringer can be found on the street to pick up his role. Not to say I won't miss him, he was one of my favorite stories from 2013 training camp. But it won't be an injury that costs us the playoffs. He was fighting to become the 2nd RB on the depth chart. As for special teams, you need your best athletes out there, or special teams becomes an obstacle to winning. What happens when special teams give up starting yardage throughout games? You tend to lose, when losing the field position battle. I believe in having 3 solid aspects of the game if you expect to win. Taking away special team assets because you expect injuries will hinder that philosophy on one of the 3 parts to the game, imho.
That was an impressive win last night. Our defense just completely shut the Lions down, which is really saying something. Craig Robertson stood out to me. He looks like he's going to fit perfectly in this D. I'm sure the task would have been much more difficult if Megatron had played, but all in all the Dawgs were swarming to the ball and attacking. They did a nice job containing Reggie Bush.... I just heard ESPN guru Mark Shlereth say that the most impressive player of the entire pre-season has been Brandon Weeden!! I almost fell out of my chair! Not that I don't agree with him. It's just that I've never heard say ANYTHING positive about any Browns player in like 10 years....They must be doing something right! Great night for Jordan Cameron....Hated to see Lewis and Mingo go down with injuries. That hurts. I guess Lewis might be done for the year, which really sucks. He was looking good as #2 RB. Had a great 30 yard run to set up one of Camerons TD's. A run that opened up beautifully with a great lead block from Ogbannaya....
Well I didn't get to see any of the game but I hear Weeden was fantastic again yesterday, showing off that arm now that he has a HC / OC that actually knows how to use a player's talent. For the life of me I can't figure out how a coach (Shurmur) knowing his job was on the line wouldn't try to win at all costs i.e. do whatever it takes to help your QB have success.
If Chub gives Turner the keys to the offense, Weeden and Cameron will have a nice year. That will open up Gordon also. To bad about Lewis, that kid had a good camp going. Nice win Browns. *BRAVO*
Cleveland Browns head coach Rob Chudzinski said the battle for the starting quarterback job between Brandon Weeden and Jason Campbell was ?close? earlier this week. It may not be so close after Weeden?s performance Thursday night against the Detroit Lions. Weeden made some brilliant throws in completing 8 of 12 passes for 112 yards with two touchdown passes to tight end Jordan Cameron. In two games this preseason, Weeden has completed 18 of 25 passes (72-percent) for 224 yards and three touchdowns and a passer rating of 139.0. Weeden has been taking all of the first-team snaps in practice and has had two solid performances in the Browns? first two preseason games. He?s done nothing to open the door for Campbell to supplant him on the depth chart. Offensive tackle Joe Thomas didn?t feel the competition was all that close. We agree. Brandon Weeden has done enough to prove he should start for the Browns Week 1.
Beach, It's absolutely mind boggling. Who knows what the hell stubborn ass Pat was thinking?? It was a crime what Pat Shurmur did to this team last year. It's like everybody in the world knew that Weeden was more comfortable throwing out of shotgun formation and getting a nice up tempo offensive rhythem, except for Shurmur! And hiring Childress was no help at all either...I bitched and moaned about it week after week after week last season. I personally feel that Mike Holmgren is to blame. He just sat on his big butt and hired all his old buddies. BIG mistake! After he fired Mangini, and DIDN'T name himself head coach, it was pretty obvious that Holmy wasn't "all in" with the Browns....Good riddance to all of em. Especially Shurmur. By far the worst coach in Cleveland Browns history....
TGIF Lounge Houndz *HI* Duff a round on the crazy man you please. *DRINK* Crazy Crex?s Musings *WRITE* I did get to see some of the first quarter last night, bits and pieces as whatever channel was on at the bar/restaurant we ate at kept switching between games. For the most part things are looking much better. At this point I don?t see Weeden losing the starting gig. I hope Gordon learns how to snag them balls just off his fingertips. As I watched the replay I wasn?t sure if he sort of gave up on the ball or if it was just barely off the ends of his fingers. Not concerned overall I think he?ll be a lights out WR. T-rich looked great, he ran well. Injuries are a B!@# and I hope Gilkey takes to the starting role like a fish to water. Losing Lewis for the rest of the season sucks. I like what he brings to the offense. Hopefully Jackson and Maysonet can step in and we wont miss Lewis. Hopefully Chud and Norv can get the interior of the O-line shored up. They?re getting pretty thin at Guard. YIKES! I like how the D is shaping up. Mingo?s injury doesn?t sound that bad, but will wait for further info. The front seven is going to be fun to watch this year. The best I think the Browns have had since before the dark times. The secondary looked better last night, but Megatron didn?t play and that may have allowed the D to smother DET, weak WR corp. We?ll see how they stack up come regular season. Love the new attitude brought in by CHUD and the rest of the coaching staff. It really shows on the field. *BRAVO* Have a great Friday and Weekend all. *YAHOO* HERE WE GO BROWNIES HERE WE GO!! WOOF WOOF!!
