Obviously RG3 has work to do. These guys haven't played together long enough to get timing and tendencies down. I agree that his accuracy wasn't great, but running the offense and communicating with receivers, and getting them to the line on time, he wasn't terrible....Especially compared to some of the shlepps we've seen here in the past. Maybe that's the problem. I'm comparing our current QB to the likes of Brandon Weeden. lol!

New slogan for Browns QB: Hey, at least it's not Weeden!

  2. Irish what is the record of this football team? Your an ignorant excuses making fan. You except mediocrity. Keep paying sucker. Haslam cut payroll to make more money off of you. He loves fans like you Irish. Every business owner would, lol

How many guys would start on a playoff team? About 5. This team is aiming for the 1st pick in the draft. Then trade down for more picks. To replace most of those players you mentioned that make to much money for Haslams terrible business.

Why do you start with the ignorant comment, Irish. I think you are ignorantly blind to how bad this product is. NEWS FLASH IRISH! They want to be this bad. They want picks to replace their bums from the last regime. I will also throw in there Haden & Thomas. They make to much money to get burnt for TDs about every game and give up sacks. How did that running game look? Did the line protect Griffin? Could they stop the pass attack. How did Haden look?

This is a 3 win football team, Irish! Everyone should be job scared right now. Thats why Haslam cut payroll. He knows he has a terrible football team . So why over pay veterans to win 3 games. Keep paying sucker! Haslam loves fans like you!

Or Manziel, or Hoyer, or Quinn, or Delome, or 16 other turkeys.

Seriously though. Give RG3 some time with this unit...It's obviously a work in progress, and it's not gonna happen over night. These guys need reps together. All the shuffling of line-ups in the preseason is necessary, but it doesn't do a new QB in a new system any favors, that's for sure...You guys know as well as I do that there is nothing that kills momentum faster than dropped passes. You get no chance at developing rhythm when guys can't hang on to the ball....RG3 needs time. I said a few weeks ago that this offense will be ugly most likely the first few weeks. We'll see how they look in week 6. If RG3 is still missing open guys and throwing late, then maybe we'll have to consider a change...

  5. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

I agree with everything you say here, TD. My point is that RG3 won't physically make it to week 6.

Yes, I agree, mediocrity is the exception in my life...I would NEVER accept mediocrity!

THIS is where the ignorance comment came from...you are ignorant if you think you can look at 12 teams in the NFL, that make the playoffs, and believe without any shadow of a doubt that the following would be starters on at least one of those teams:

Joe Thomas, Joe Haden, Corey Coleman, Isaiah Crowell, Gary Barnidge, Joel Bitonio and yes, Danny Shelton...and Josh Gordon sans suspension...would be plug in starters on almost any playoff team TODAY...Now, the rest of the "talent" on this team are extremely young and although they may not be starters on those teams from day one, they are quickly establishing themselves as such...Carl Nassib, Demario Davis(who was a starter on a 10-6 Jets team last season), Ibraheim Campbell, and it looks like Emmanuel Oghbah could be the real deal...along with Duke Johnson, Terrelle Pryor, John Greco, Desmond Bryant and Tramon Williams (who has looked bad, but WAS a starter on the playoff perennial Packers)..

There are more young guys who we really have no information to even form an opinion at this time, but will get a chance to do so in the coming months.

Running game sucked to the tune of 5.5 yards per carry...

Did Griffin hold the ball too long on some plays?

I would say they need some DBs, I won't make an argument there, but Haden looked pretty damn good sans one play, in which the defense was setup for safety help that never came because he read the play wrong.

    Any more questions?

  7. I don't understand why someone would expect this team to be firing on all cylinders in the first game. Philly's defense is for real.

I want to see where we are in 4 weeks.

  8. Why do I keep hearing give RG3 time in this system and w his players but I watch a rookie QB who missed most of training camp and preseason games score 29 pts and throw 4 over 270 yds? I thought Wentz was ok but not out of this world...he missed some easy throws 2 guys wide open(Sproles right b4 half) is one example...Haden was beat bad on that deep route..2 yds is a ton in the NFL...people are making it out like Philly is a good team when I believe Irish said the Philly pick may b higher than the Browns...they scored 10 pts and didn't make one 2nd half adjustment...btw if they keep getting high draft picks...how bout u use them 4 a change so I think ur wrong Lake w the trade down

  9. TopDawg Legend

Well stopper, you keep hearing it for all the reasons already mentioned....Did Wentz have receivers dropping balls all over the place? Did he have to deal with a center that completely air mails half the snaps? Did he have breakdowns in the O-line?

I take nothing away from Wentz. I was impressed with him....But you really can't compare his situation to RG3's....There's way too many different variables....Besides, even if their numbers were completely reversed, you'd still find a way to piss on the Browns player, and everybody knows it.....

My question is this to Stopper...

Are you suggesting the Browns should have stayed at #2 overall and drafted Wentz?

  11. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

I'm not Slopper, but I did think about staying at a Holiday Inn Express last night . . .

Draft Wentz in leau of signing RG3 ??? In a heartbeat. And, if for some unknown factor, if Goff was still there . . . in half a heartbeat.

  12. TopDawg Legend

I was never in on Goff....But I liked Wentz. Once it became clear that the Browns weren't interested in Wentz, I didn't have a problem with the trade because we had so many other holes to fill...I mean we could argue this forever.

We all knew that once we passed on Wentz, people will be waiting in line to shake their fingers at the Browns in disgust, if and when Carson Wentz looked like a real NFL franchise QB....didn't take long.

The things I liked best about Wentz were his size, intelligence and his ability to drop dimes.....All were on display Sunday at Lincoln Financial. It's far to early to say for certain, but right now it looks like Philly got a potential great one, and the Browns shit themselves again....The only way to alleviate the stench of the shit is for Robert Griffin III to play well for the Cleveland Browns....We'll see how it goes. So far, a little shaky.....

  13. TopDawg Legend

C'mon guys. We knew this was coming up today.....There's no avoiding it. Irish just asked it to stopper, but I'll ask it to everyone that loves football...

Did the Cleveland Browns make a mistake by not staying at #2 in the draft and taking Carson Wentz?

It's a good question if ya ask me......

  14. TopDawg Legend

Early reports from Cleveland . com ...........RG3 out "awhile" with serious shoulder injury.....That sure didn't take long. Good thing we held on to McCown...

  15. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

Or bad thing we didn't draft Wentz...

    To answer your question though...

This team isn't ready for a Carson Wentz, the Eagles are further along in development. Had we drafted Wentz, the outcome probably would have been the same, except everyone would have been wondering why the Browns passed on the rumored trade offers to take Wentz.

The shoulder injury suffered by Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III is ?potentially serious,? ESPN?s Adam Schefter reported Monday.

The Browns are awaiting results of further tests. Cleveland.com reported Monday afternoon that Griffin ?could be out awhile.?

Griffin ran into contact along the sideline during the fourth quarter of Sunday?s loss and took a big hit from Eagles cornerback Jalen Mills instead of running out of bounds or sliding. Griffin has long had issues with avoiding such hits.

Griffin said after the game that he suffered a sprained shoulder but would be OK. He returned for the game?s final series.

Josh McCown would become the team?s starter for Sunday?s game vs. the Ravens (and beyond, presumably) if Griffin misses time. Rookie Cody Kessler is the No. 3 quarterback, and the Browns have rookie Kevin Hogan on the practice squad.

Should we have drafted Wentz ?. or how about Carr over the immature affluent little weasel or hell any QB we have passed on the last 15 years .

I am not sold on RGIII . I wasn't coming out of college and am still not . he still lacks pocket presence IMHO .

Maybe Kessler turns into Brian Sipe . about the same size & attributes . we can only hope .

All I can do is watch these baby Browns grow up this year and hope they grow up fast .

    Erving MUST GO ! *ROSE*

  18. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

RGIII broke a bone in his shoulder and has been placed on IR...

Lym..you may be right in your prediction about Hogan

  19. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

Right now, it sucks to be right.

  20. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

Well, honestly, I was pissed off when he took on the would be tackler...If he is not going to learn to give up on a play and slide, we are better off moving on from him. These types of injuries will become the norm if he plays with reckless abandon..and I will be the first to admit how wrong I was in championing for him in the first place.
