i think RG3 will shock a lot of people and plays well and the Browns win 5 or 6 games. I can't see them only winning 1 or 2.

I think the offense will be able to score. I have no worries there, although it may take awhile for the new system to sink in for the players and coaches. The defense on the other hand.........I just have to say it's going to be a long season on that side of the ballgame. Hopefully they get better as they go but it is apparent they are full rebuild on DEF.

As for 0-16. The 2008 Lions were an absolute perfect storm of suck-itude led by the highly inept Matt Millen and a horrendous defense which I believe gave up the 2nd most points in NFL history. The Browns defense may not be good but they aren't that horrendous either. Vegas has +/- for wins at 4.5. I'd say 5-6 myself and at worst 3.

What is with your continual lack of reading comprehension, Stopper?

I claimed no Lombardi Trophy. Read it again. Simply a dig at Billick and your continual doom and gloom view. I'm more than willing to take any bet that says they win/tie at least one game. A tie game counts as it would not be 0-16. The NFL has been around since 1920 or so and in all that time (nearly 100 years) only 9 teams have had a win percentage of 0.000 (no ties). There have been only two teams since 1976 (expansion team Tampa and 2008 Lions) in seasons that were 14 games or longer.

As for putting my money where my mouth is.......if you want to bet they go 0-16, I've got whatever money you want to place on it and you can lay the odds.

Anybody see all the head shots Cam Newton took last night. There were at least 4-5 and the Broncos were penalized...........not a single time. Thought a few of those were undeniably flagrant.

I noticed it, and I think one hit did draw a flag for roughing the passer, but I was surprised to hear Cam say he didn't think there were any cheapshots. He's such a big imposing QB. Most of the high hits on him came when he was rolling out of the pocket. The dude is a beast of a runner, so I'm not sure what the defense is supposed to do. They can't just let him pump fake and then run right by..There's really never been a QB like him...I'm certain a couple of those hits on his head are going to bring hefty fines. The fact that no penalty flags were thrown is hard to believe....The one play in particular, right in the final drive, was a blatant "launch to the head" by the defender. It was surprising to see Cam get up from that cheapshot. I can't remember the LB's name, but he's gonna feel that in the wallet, no doubt...

Maybe I'm crazy, but I think the Browns can hang with Philly this Sunday. If we are going to steal one this year, this seems like a likely candidate. Carson Wentz hasn't done anything. No preseason because of the rib injury. I know he's a smart guy, but even the Browns defense should be able to create some confusion for him....I just think all this talk about Cleveland going 0-16 is ridiculous. Brian Billick is an idiot that has never uttered a positive word about the Cleveland Browns. He's just pissed his boy Mike Pettine got the axe, so he's firing a shot from the peanut gallery. lol. I'm going to love seeing him on his NFL show wearing the Browns jersey he promised to wear if Cleveland wins......So what's the deal, we lose Mack, Schwartz and an injury prone safety and suddenly we don't have any talent left on the team?? All hope is lost? I don't get it...It seems like Cleveland is finally doing things the right way, and yet the pessimism is at an all time high anyway...I understand that people think we are tanking, but just doesn't feel like "tanking" to me...It feels like a team that wants to build things the right way...

Well, TD, the Browns could beat Philly and then they could both just lose out and we'd have the #1 and #2 picks next year and we wouldn't go 0-16. :p

I agree there were a number of hits that could have been flagged. What a weapon he is.
A rifle arm, tall, big, can run like an RB.

Why do I feel like he's not working at his craft? I think last year's nearly undefeated season made me feel his happy face was circumstantial (everyone's happy when they win), and that without facing adversity, I wanted to see more. It bugs me that he doesn't step into his throws, and it bugs me even more that it doesn't seem to matter.

I felt the same way about Vick, but Vick never had the size that cam has, and couldn't take the beatings. Can Cam?

Which brings me to RGIII. Has he learned how to play QB? I'm not convinced, and his press conference comments "if we win no ones going to complain that we did it with 3 long bombs". Yes, that's true, but ...........

I really like that RGIII has apparently taken the "slide for the team" idea to heart though, and maybe that's an indication he's ready to think beyond the highlight reels, and look for ways to succeed that don't rely on his physical gifts. I hope so.

As for Cam. God Bless and good luck. Too many games like last night and even the mighty can get hurt, but I think he'd do himself and his team a favor to adopt a more conventional throwing motion, where he plants and steps into it. Some day the back foot throw is going to come up short, and he'll have to, but right now he is a God among men.

Call me crazy, but I'd swap RGIII for him in a heartbeat. I'd be willing to "not like" his throwing motion for a few years, in a Browns Uni.

God I've gotten critical in my old age.

Personally, I think the Browns have a good shot at beating the Eagles, Dolphins, and Titans and go 3-3 in the first 6 games. The Bills and Chargers could/should be another two wins if the team gels and improves by late in the year. That brings the total up to about 5 wins. Throw in another win by pure upset which usually happens every year when they completely play their azzes off. That brings them to 6 wins. Hopefully they can win a few division games and that could mean a total of 7-8 wins if they're lucky.

Personally, I'm giving them 5-6 wins. As long as they show steady improvement, it points the team in the right direction and another big important draft in 2017 to hopefully bring them back to respectability.

I'll take the W total you lay out, gladly, and I agree on the true measure being the improvement shown as the year wears on.

Having seen this movie (reset) more times than I'd like, I'm seeing a very similar start: new coach full of enthusiasm and a plan to succeed. What I'm looking for is how energized and focussed he and the team are after six weeks, ten weeks, etc......

The common pattern is lots of energy early, then it gets quiet, then the finger pointing, then the death watch. I'm hoping Hue can deal with the torturous games that are inevitably going to take place, and find a way to continue to look ahead and steer into the darkness with purpose and vision. Right now it's all talk, soon it'l be action and reaction.

I will hold out hope as always, and cheer for improvement. The D looks suspect at best, but we're mostly young and time should help. The O ?????

Not sure what to expect form RGIII. I would agree that once we get Gordon back we should have one the league's better recieving corps, which assumes Pryor "is" a number 2 WR (a big leap of faith), and or Coleman is worth his draft position (unlike Johnny Football / Justin Gilbert). RBs? Not sure I see much to stake my game on, but serviceable? OK.

I do believe we will get some "deep balls", but if we can't succeed at small ball our D will spend too long in the game and that doesn't bode well. Once again it's RGIII's development that will matter most. Hope Hue has the magic to make him into a QB, cause if he can we could be dangerous.

    Here's to being dangerous

After reading up on the Eagles a bit I gotta say, that Philly D scares me more than anything else. Griffin must protect the football. They actually had 9 interceptions in the preseason. Wow! Preseason or not, that's kinda scary.....I'm hoping we can just control it with a strong running game. One thing that Jim Schwartz and his "wide 9" front usually does do is leave some nice open running lanes. Crow needs to exploit that and have a solid day....If we can't run it effectively, it could be a long afternoon...

always the optimist, I'll say Browns pull the shocker 34-30.....Crow goes over a hundred, and RG3 hits a couple big plays deep to Coleman and Pryor....Defense not great but they do force Wentz into a couple big turnovers to help spring the upset...

.....a guy can dream can't he? *PARDON*

  20. Joe Haden may be the most over rated CB in the league. Is it me or does he get burnt just about every game?

I don't know about the rest of you but I'm just about done with CAM ERVING also. BUST,BUST,BUST! They traded 1 draft mistake in Gilbert now its time to start looking at other center options for the off season. This guy can't get the ball to the QB in a shot gun formation, lol NOT A STARTING NFL LINEMAN.

JT is on borrowed time here fellas. He gave up a sack to a guy who went right around him. He is a future H.O.F but Joe is getting slow.

The o-line is terrible, the defense can't stop a runny nose and the DB's are just terrible. I include Haden in that also.

I actually think the Browns are trying to lose this season. Something they should of done 5 years ago, lol. Rome wasn't built in a day but I seen very few things I liked about this team. JT and Haden will be gone at the end of the year. They make to much money to play the way they did. I don't like taking QB's early but Wentz looked poised. He also has more around him in Philly than he would of here in Cleveland. Maybe 1 day,lol
