I didn't think I was going to have a computer in time to draft this year, and I can't imagine trying to draft on a phone....But it looks like I am going to have a computer in time, so if you still lookin for someone for the Kennel Club, I can play......topdawg4226@yahoo.com

The agent for Browns defensive lineman John Hughes told reporters Thursday that his client will be back with the Browns soon.

?He is going to be fine and expects to return to the team soon,? agent Vince Calo said.

Hughes has been away from the team for more than a week. Browns Coach Hue Jackson has said only that Hughes has been away for personal reasons.

Assuming all is eventually well, Hughes will be a starting defensive end for the Browns. A fifth-year pro, Hughes played in all 16 games and started three last season. He has 5.5 career sacks and has played in 52 career games.

The Browns drafted Hughes in the third round in 2012.

Brian Hoyer, Conner Shaw, and Rob Housler are all suiting up for the Chicago Bears. They did absolutely nothing in their first action of the pre season.

    Bluez-

Not sure I have enough time for more than the Kennel Klub and my home-town league. But if you're in a pinch at the last moment and need one more, I'll be glad to fill a spot for you. Just let me know.

  11. I just heard on the radio that the browns gave up over 130 yards rushing to GB. I guess Shelton is looking like a bust also.

Teams are going to run all over the Browns. I like Nassib though, always have. But this team needs to get a real ass kicking, tackling machine at ILB. Kirksey isnt big enough to do that. SS to help stop the run will be another problem. Matter of fact I think the whole defensive backfield needs help. Did Shelton even play in this game?

I can't wait to be done with some of these 1st rd bust. Shelton, Gilbert and Erving still looks lost. They were talking about this on the radio yesterday. The 1st rd bust have to stop. I really think this front office will correct this. If a 3 win football team has a top 4 pick they should draft a freaking starter. I know I keep harping on this but the bust picks have to stop. Gilbert can't cover a window, Erving cant block a TV and Shelton must of lost to much weight because he was nowhere to be found, lol

On to better news. Coleman and Nassib look like they belong.

The Browns have suspended cornerback K?Waun Williams for two weeks for violating team rules.

The suspension stems from a disagreement between Williams and the team over his availability. He?s been absent from practice due to an ankle injury, and apparently the team thinks he should be back on the field. As Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported, the team specifically thinks Williams should have played in last week?s preseason opener.

The team has also fined Williams one game check.

After Tuesday?s practice ? a few hours before news of the suspension broke ? Browns coach Hue Jackson declined to say much about Williams? situation and wouldn?t answer if Williams has been with the team.

?I just think there are a lot of mixed messages that are going on as far as all that?s concerned,? Jackson said. ?I think we?ll deal with it, and I?m sure we?ll all talk about it at the appropriate time.?

The Akron Beacon Journal reported that Williams is scheduled to visit a doctor and receive a second opinion on his ankle on Wednesday afternoon.

Williams made the Browns as an undrafted rookie in 2014 and has played in 13 games in each of his first two seasons.

  15. Sitting here after work and thinking about this up and coming Browns season. A couple of conclusions I came up with.

    1. I don't expect very many wins. Maybe 3/4
    2. The O-line will struggle.
    3. I'm excited to see what RGIII can do with Bandridge, Coleman, Pryor and Johnson. Hopefully RGIII can create some things with his legs.
    4. This defense wont be able to stop a runny nose. I'm worried about the LB's and DB's. I think the D-Ends will be ok but not the interior D-line.

I think this year JT will get traded. This line has to get younger and more physical. JT has had a great career and is a great guy but having an all-pro LT hasnt equated to much wins. The NFL has changed.

This year I'm not looking for wins but team growth.

Browns cornerback K?Waun Williams plans to fight the two-week suspension and fine of one game check the Browns levied against him for what the team called multiple violations of team rules ? and what Williams has said is an injury that has left him unable to play.

Williams? agent, Evan Krakower, told Cleveland.com Wednesday that Williams will appeal the suspension through the NFL Players Association.

The team and Williams have been at odds over the status of his ankle injury. Krakower said a follow-up appointment Wednesday showed that Williams needs bone spurs removed from his ankle before he can continue to play.

The Browns did not have open practice or media availability Wednesday because they play their second preseason game Thursday vs. the Falcons.

This probably ends with the Browns either placing Williams on injured reserve or releasing him, or maybe both. But if the team medical staff is saying one thing and Williams is saying is another, it could drag on.

Williams made the Browns as an undrafted rookie in 2014 and has played in 13 games ? mostly as a nickel cornerback ? in each of his first two seasons.

  17. Erving = another 1st rd bust! Put center on that draft list, lol

It's been rather sketchy but IMO it's still too early to call Cam Erving a bust. He had a rough rookie season. Not the first player that ever experienced difficulties in the beginning of his career. I'm still expecting him to turn into a solid NFL lineman as he was projected coming out of FSU....He's gotta get those shotgun snaps down though, no doubt it. That'll spell doom more times than not. The one snap last night that he rocketed over RG3 wasn't the only high one. No excuse at all for snapping the ball so high that an outstanding athelete like Robert Griffin couldn't even get to it....

Overall I was somewhat encouraged by last night's game. The defense wasn't good, but there were a few players that stood out to me on that side of the ball. Derrick Kindred and Jamar Taylor were making some plays in the secondary, and Carl Nassib looked pretty good bringing the pressure...I don't think Gilbert is gonna make the team this year. He looks the same to me. The dude can't cover or tackle.....

The starting offense was fairly good. The way RG3 is looking the safeties off on those deep balls, and then dropping dimes in with touch is impressive. He really made a couple big time NFL throws last night....He needs work on the 3rd down efficiency, but considering all the expected starters that didn't suit up last night (Thomas, Coleman, Gordon), I thought he played real well, and he looked like he was having fun. Did a nice job of avoiding contact on his runs...Hue Jackson was peppering in those "read option" plays at perfect times, and when RG3 is healthy and on top of his game, he's dangerous. I loved the playcalling for the most part. They were creative and obviously they showed that they can be explosive too...

Would have liked to see them get the win, but you just aren't going to win many games when you tackle the way we did last night...So there was good and bad, but certainly reason for Browns fans to be encouraged...When we get all of our offensive skill players out there together, it's gonna be fun....RG3, Gordon, Coleman, Pryor and Barnidge. That's a lot for any D to contend with...It's fun to imagine the possibilities.

  19. I'm in agreement with your assessment, TD. I saw enough to be pretty encouraged that the Browns should be improved over last season. Maybe more than we've seen thus far considering it's pre-season football. Trying to be more optimistic, but at my age I'm running low on that commodity. LOL

I know what you mean Rok. The last couple decades have been just brutal for Browns fans. All I can say is, this year, things have finally gone quite well for Cleveland fans. And I truly believe it's gonna get better. The Tribe will follow the Cavs and bring another title to "the Land" this season. They have unbelievable chemistry going on with the Tribe this year, and it never hurts when you happen to have the league's best starting rotation AND bullpen at your service.....Dare I say that same winning vibe could possibly find it's way to the orange and brown as well? Hell yes I dare! lol!

Look, I'm not saying we are going to have a winning season for the Browns. But I think most of us would be very pleased if we had a football team that was exciting, fought hard, and did not embarrass us. All those things are certainly achievable...Put it this way. Most of the Browns fans I know don't think we have a chance in hell at 6 wins, and would be thrilled if we could manage that. So I guess if that's all it takes to make Browns fans happy, I think it'll be a happy year for us....If Gary Barnidge thinks we got enough talent to compete for the playoffs, by gawd that's good enough for me...lol!
