The Cleveland Police Patrolmen?s Association didn?t care much for the initial apology offered by Browns running back Isaiah Crowell for posting an image of violence against a police officer on social media, which prompted a threat to refuse to work at the team?s home games. The police union has accepted Crowell?s second apology, which includes the donation of a game check to the Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation. ?I appreciate the apology and we accept it,? CPPA president Stephen Loomis told TMZ. ?People are allowed to make mistakes in life. Our problem was that first apology. It wasn?t sincere. But Isaiah stepped up to the plate to make a personal apology, and we definitely appreciate his donation to the Fallen Officers Foundation.? That?s good news for the Browns organization, especially as it relates to the 10 games to be played in Cleveland this year. ?I?m glad we didn?t have to go the route of boycotting Browns games. We would not have enjoyed that. We wanted to give Isaiah the opportunity to make things right, and he did.? It?s unclear whether a boycott would have worked, since individual officers may have decided not to turn down the assignment of working Browns games. Regardless, it won?t get to that point.

I've been working nights this week. A crew of Laborers local 310 and Iron Workers local 17 have been putting up metal, bullet proof fencing for Trump. We have been putting it up from Lakeside down to the BP station on E 9th. We are working 7:30pm to 5:30am getting this protection ready. Right along besides us is our union brothers, the boys in blue. We were not told to but each and every union worker I worked with on my crew thanked them officers. Told them we have their backs if need be. After all there are over 2700 #310 Laborers, lol Im all for freedom of speech but what Crowell tweeted was wrong. Character is something that is missing in the equation with this franchise. From ownership to water boys. Maybe thats why they suck and continue to do so. Look at these players? 1. Winslow 2. Edwards 3. Gordon 4. Manziel 5. Crowell All play/played important, skilled positions for this team. How has their careers gone? The Browns are so lowly they have to hang on to these players. Lets be honest. This team doesn't win enough to excuse any of these players for their mental short comings. When your best character player is your LT then Houston you have a problem. As time has told us......WE DO! Cut Crowell, cut Gordon and move on. Get rid of the mental weakness that is the Cleveland Browns. Until they do? My falls are for THE OHIO ST. BUCKEYES!
Damn straight!!!! This person probably had the same inconsiderate bass-turds as I do at work who leave that quarter inch of coffee left so that they don't have to make a new pot and it isn't enough to make a half cup of coffee. Phuquers!!!! *WASSUP*
My buddy and I were bored and took a look at the Browns draft picks since 2011-early rounds 2014....this is the reason they have been so bad...not a single player is still on the team and some not even in football...Its truly amazing and almost impossible 4 this 2 happen
By Terry Pluto, The Plain Dealer Email the author | Follow on Twitter on July 16, 2016 at 8:37 AM, updated July 16, 2016 at 12:54 PM CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The video apology and the donation of one game check -- about $35,000 to a fund for the families of Dallas police officers -- is just a first step for Cleveland Browns running back Isaiah Crowell. I hear Crowell will do some other things in conjunction with the police once he reports for training camp. The Browns have stressed to Crowell that a simple apology is not enough, and that he hurt a lot of people by posting a drawing of a policeman having his throat cut. It was a social media post Crowell received, and then he posted it on his Instagram account. The Browns didn't even know about the picture until it was removed. It was only posted for a few minutes, and Crowell said he realized his mistake and took it down. The Browns put out this statement: "We have spoken to Isaiah regarding his extremely disturbing and unacceptable social media decision. It was completely inappropriate and we have made him aware of our high level of disappointment. Isaiah has apologized but also knows that just an apology is insufficient and that he must take steps to make a positive difference after a very negative and impactful post." Because the running back has been in no trouble in his two years with the team, there were no plans to waive him. That was especially true following discussions with Crowell. The 23-year-old seemed sincerely apologetic, according to the team. He is anxious to do more for the police. We'll see if he follows up on that promise. We still need to hear live comments from Crowell, not just a video from his Facebook account where it's clear he's reading something. Crowell needs to apologize in his own words -- Pluto Crowell needs to apologize in his own words -- Pluto Cleveland Browns running back Isaiah Crowell needs to apologize in his own words at a press conference where he can talk from the heart -- not a script. FANS UNHAPPY I wrote a column stressing the serious nature of Crowell's actions, but not wanting the Browns to waive him. I talked about the need for a real apology and a donation to help the families of police. I wrote that before Crowell took those steps. I also wrote: "If the team wants to suspend him, that's their decision. They know Crowell far better than most of us. But cut him for this -- assuming he really is sorry and wants to make amends? That's not what I'd do." Most emails I received ripped me for that stance. The largest came from those wanting Crowell immediately fired. But there were a few who thought I was too harsh. They said he was just reacting to all the disturbing news of minorities dying in encounters with police. He didn't want police killed. I had haters on both sides, and many of the comments were ugly. I didn't even look at my Twitter account for several days. We all know Twitter doesn't exactly bring out the best in people. One of the more cogent emails came from Chris, a law enforcement officer. "You say Crowell needs to apologize but it seems like you are almost giving him a free pass? Make up your mind and quit playing both sides of the fence because he's an athlete. Had a police officer posted a picture similar to this with the roles reversed ... apology or not, his/her job is gone. "You come off as a hypocrite by defending these guys because they are good at sports? Crowell deserves forgiveness. But that doesn't mean he deserves the incredible opportunity to make an insane amount of money to play a game. He is supposed to be a role model? HA! The Browns aren't going to be very good anyways. It would be in their best interest to cut Crowell and wish him luck. "Sorry Terry, I'm sure I speak for many when I say you are wrong on this. As a die-hard Indians fan often searching for your articles, I'll simply pass them up from now on. You just indirectly defended the actions of an athlete who posted an image of a police being executed by way of a slit throat. You don't carry a gun to work every day. You should of just left this one alone." Isaiah Crowell apology after Instagram post: Editorial Board Roundtable Isaiah Crowell apology after Instagram post: Editorial Board Roundtable What lessons do we draw from the sad and shameful episode involving Isaiah Crowell's disturbing anti-police Instagram post and subsequent apology? The Editorial Board Roundtable weighs in. ABOUT THE BROWNS 1. I keep looking at a list of healthy defensive linemen for the start of the season. Desmond Bryant may miss the entire season because of a pectoral injury suffered during a workout. Armonty Bryant is suspended for the first four games. 2. The day before Desmond Bryant's injury was announced, ESPN put out a list of the most underrated players. Guess who was the pick for the Browns? 3. ESPN wrote: "Bryant's 91 percent stop rate against the run was third in the league, and he led the team with six sacks. But you'd be hard-pressed to find anyone outside northeast Ohio (and few within the Cleveland city limits) who knows who he is." 4. If I had to pick a starting line right now for Ray Horton's 3-4 defense, it would be Xavier Cooper and John Hughes at the ends, Danny Shelton at tackle. The new coaching staff is very intrigued by the speed of Cooper. They think he has the ability to be an impact pass rusher. 5. Rookie Carl Nassib caught the eye of defensive line coach Robert Nunn, who is intrigued by the 6-foot-7, 275-pounder from Penn State. He led the Big Ten with 15.5 sacks and was the conference's Defensive Player of the Year. He had 3.5 tackles for loss and 1.5 sacks vs. Ohio State. 6. The door is wide open for Nassib to grab some playing time. But many scouting reports consider the third-round pick to be a bit of project. It's so hard to judge rookies in minicamps because there is no tackling or NFL-type hitting. 7. I've long liked Jamie Meder, the underrated defensive tackle from Ashland. He played in all 16 games last season, and the 310-pounder had 33 tackles. This is an opportunity for him. 8. Cooper showed some flashes as a pass rusher, mostly in the preseason. Lots of playing time is right there for the 2015 third-round pick. 9. The only healthy veteran D-lineman is Hughes. I wrote about Shelton last week, and his need to keep in shape. The Browns have Dylan Wynn in camp. He had a strong 2015 preseason but spent most of last year on the practice squad. They also have undrafted free agents Nile Lawrence-Stample and Kyle Rose. 10. After his suspension, Armonty Bryant might end up playing playing more as a pass-rushing linebacker. With Desmond Bryant out, the Browns don't have much depth on the line, unless some of the young players really surprise. 11. I bet the Browns bring in some more linemen. You will see a lot of players signed during training camp as they watch the waiver wire. 12. Former Brown Earnest Byner will be the guest of the Wahoo Club on July 24 at 11 a.m. The event will be held at the Winking Lizard in Bedford Heights. Call Bob Rosen at 440-724-8350 for information.
I had to fact check for them after seeing this... I went rds 1-3, since he said "early rounds" and "not a single player is still on the team" 2014 Justin Gilbert, Joel Bitonio and Christian Kirksey..all on the team (Manziel out of league, Terrance West on Ravens) 2013 Barkevious Mingo...still on the team (Leon McFadden on Giants) 2012 John Hughes...still on team (Trent Richardson/Ravens, Brandon Weedon/Texans, Mitchell Schwartz/Chiefs) 2011 (Phil Taylor/Broncos, Jabaal Sheard/Patriots, Greg Little/Bills) I don't think the Browns have had successful drafts in this time period, but you also don't think before you type... Here is a similar story to look at... Steelers, same time period: 2014 Ryan Shazier, Steven Tuitt...still on team (Dri Archer on Bills) 2013 Jarvis Jones, Le'Veon Bell, Markus Wheaton...still on team 2012 David DeCastro...still on team (Mike Adams currently out of league, Sean Spence/Bills) 2011 Cameron Heyward, Marcus Gilbert..still on team (Curtis Brown out of league) So if you are keeping score at home: Browns; Still on Team:5 In League on other teams:8 Out of League:1 Steelers: Still on Team:8 In League on other teams:2 Out of League:2 Yes, they have 3 more players still on the roster, but they actually drafted 1 more player that couldn't make it in the league... This is pretty normal, when you go back 4-6 years to see players that are not on the drafted teams roster, and even wash out of the league all together. THAT isn't necessarily the entire reason that the Browns have sucked.
Last night of protecting Trump for me. Then its off to Kelleys Island for Christmas in July! Last night we were moving barricades in front of First Energy field and the Science center. One of the guys that I work with looked at First Energy, pointed and then said. "This is the most worthless building downtown." You have the Federal Building, Hilton, Justice Center, Rock Hall, Terminal Tower, Medical Mart, Science Center and then there is the "Factory of Sadness". When we were barricading Progessive Field and The Q it was all up beat. As soon as we got near First Energy the mood changed. That was from guys that lived all over the Cleveland suburbs. East, West, North and South. Many of us have worked on that building, some guys still believe and some guys just dont really care anymore. Out of the 40 guys that were on my crew more were interested in talking Buckeyes than Browns. When it comes to sports now people are talking Cavs, Indians, OSU then Browns. Guys were even talking more about high school football than the Browns. I wonder if Haslam knows that? or if he even cares? I mean the Browns are a cash cow but now the Browns are last on the totem pole. Out of towners were asking about the Q, Science Center, West Side Market, Progressive Field, Rock Hall, Great Lakes Brewery but not the Browns. They even wanted to know where to get the best perogies at,lol Some even said they felt sorry for Browns fans.
CBS has rated the most over rated players on each team. For the Cleveland Browns.................... CB Joe Haden! they even asked..... What happened to Joe Haden? I think its like the Steve Miller Band once sang...... Go on take the money and run! Oh and I highly, highly, highly AGREE!
Top 5 Training Camp Battles Fred Greetham Yesterday at 9:03 PM As training camp begins in just one week, the OBR takes a look at some of the most intriguing training camp battles BEREA, Ohio--Every season as training camp opens around the NFL, there are highly anticipated battles for starting positions. It is no different for the Browns. However, with the specialization that takes place in today?s NFL many times the ?starter? is just listed first on the depth chart, but the other players rotate in and play about as much as the starters do. Although they won't admit it, the Browns are in midst of a rebuild after the disappointing 3-13 finish in 2015 that led to the ouster of the Ray Farmer and Mike Pettine regime and to the new regime of Sashi Brown and Hue Jackson. The OBR takes a close look and suggests the five most anticipated battles for tops on the depth chart (with a couple of bonus battles, as well). 1. Quarterback-- Robert Griffin III vs. Josh McCown--Jackson has been very guarded in his attempts to not name Griffin III the starting quarterback, but most who follow the Browns feel that is what Jackson is hoping happens. Griffin is trying to re-boot his career with the Browns after not taking a snap last season for the Redskins and if he can come out of the preseason without a major breakdown, he will be the likely starter in the season opener. However, McCown has been a steady influence on the field and in the locker room. His 93.3 rating was by far the best on the roster last season with 12 touchdowns and four interceptions. Many of the observers watching off-season OTA's and minicamps this spring felt McCown was the best quarterback on the field. Dark Horse Candidate: Cody Kessler was drafted higher than most projected by being selected in the third-round, but Jackson really likes him. It would be a major upset if Kessler played so well in the preseason that he came out of training camp as the starting quarterback. However, Russell Wilson did so after being a third-round pick a few years ago with the Seahawks after Seattle spent big money to sign free agent quarterback Matt Flynn to battle veteran Tavaris Jackson in a similar scenario. If Kessler plays well but is unable to beat out Griffin III or McCown for the starting job, Jackson might decide to keep just two quarterbacks or keep Austin Davis and McCown could be traded during the preseason. 2. Wide Receiver-- Corey Coleman, Ricardo Louis, Jordan Payton and Rashard Higgins vs. Taylor Gabriel, Andrew Hawkins, Darius Jennings, Marlon Moore and Terrelle Pryor--The Browns decided to overhaul their receiving corps by drafting four wide receivers. Conventional wisdom says the four drafted receivers make the team, that leaves only a couple of roster spots available as most teams usually keep five to six or maybe seven wide receivers. Pryor is only a year removed from transitioning to receiver from quarterback and Jackson likes the versatility that Pryor brings to the team. Many believe he will be used as Mohamed Sanu was used by Jackson with the Bengals. He also could be used as the emergency or third quarterback to save a roster spot. Hawkins is a good slot receiver, who has a history with Jackson and would appear to be in the rotation. Coleman will likely be one of the starting receivers with the battle among the others for the other outside position with Hawkins in the slot and Pryor in key situations. Dark Horse Candidates: Gabriel, Jennings and Moore. Gabriel has played two seasons with the Browns after making the team as an undrafted free agent, but there was a reason the new regime drafted so many receivers. Jennings played well in his opportunity last season and Moore has been a core special teams player and a solid receiver. 3. Right Tackle--Alvin Bailey vs. Shon Coleman and Spencer Drango-- The Browns are trying to fill a big hole that was created when Mitchell Schwartz left in free agency after never missing a snap for the Browns. Bailey was brought in as an unrestricted free agent to either start or be flexible enough to step in at a number of positions on the line. Coleman was drafted in the third-round to contend for the starting right tackle position, but Coleman missed the OTA's and minicamps coming off a surgery to his MCL. Drango was impressive in the off-season and could be in the mix at right tackle or guard. Dark Horse Candidates: Austin Pasztor stepped in and played the final four games in 2015 at left guard, while Michael Bowie was expected to battle for the position last year before having shoulder surgery and spending the season on injured reserve. 4. Defensive End--John Hughes, Armonty Bryant vs. Xavier Cooper and Carl Nassib--Both of last year's starting defensive ends are gone as training camp begins as Randy Starks was released and Desmond Bryant had surgery last week to repair a torn pectoral muscle suffered in training. Hughes will likely be one of the ends but Cooper and Nassib will battle on the other side. Cooper was a third-round draft pick last season, while Nassib was a third-round pick this year. Nassib led the nation in sacks at Penn State last season and if he can make the transition to the NFL quickly, he will have a chance to earn playing time. Armonty Bryant is facing a four-game suspension by the NFL to start the season for violating the league's substance abuse policy, which could severely hurt his chances to contribute. Dark Horse Candidate: Dylan Wynn was on the Browns practice squad but has shown some promise and with the injury to Bryant, could vie for playing time. 5. Center-- Cameron Erving vs. Garth Gerhart--Similar to the hole left with the departure of Schwartz, Alex Mack's departure also creates a big hole. Erving was drafted in the first round of 2015 in case Mack departed. Erving didn't make a great first impression and started four games, two at each guard position. Erving was drafted as a center, but the Browns coaching staff tried to get him to play multiple positions on the line and he didn't take any snaps at center in games. If Erving isn't able to handle the center position, his primary rivals have little experience, as well. Gerhart has been on the practice squad. If the Browns decide that Erving or Gerhart aren't ready, veteran John Greco could be shifted over to the center spot. Dark Horse Candidate: Mike Matthews is an undrafted rookie who has the pedigree with his father, Bruce a member of the Hall of Fame and his uncle, Clay a Browns legend. Honorable Mention: Running Back--Duke Johnson, Jr. vs. Isaiah Crowell--It is likely that Johnson, Jr. will emerge as the featured running back, but it is unclear if he will be the every down back. Jackson used Jeremy Hill and Gio Bernard with the Bengals and with his propensity to run the ball, will likely employ at least two backs. Crowell has been trying very hard to overcome his horrendous post on social media earlier this month and it is unclear if the Browns will keep him or let him go. Dark Horse Candidate: Terrell Watson, who was brought to the Browns from Cincinnati by Jackson after he spent a year on the Bengals practice squad. Watson rushed for over 2,000 yards in his final season at Azusa Pacific and could be the big back (240) to complement Johnson, Jr. Edge Rusher--Emmanuel Ogbah vs. Nate Orchard--The Browns used a second-round pick on Ogbah and are hoping he can make the switch from a down lineman to an outside edge pass rusher. Orchard was brought in last year for the same reason and showed promise at the end of the season. Most are assuming Paul Kruger will be on the opposite side and the Browns are hoping Kruger can return to the form he displayed in 2014 when he had a career-best 11 sacks. Dark Horse Candidate: Barkevious Mingo was drafted sixth-overall to be the edge rusher in pass situations but hasn't been used much in that role. Ray Horton said he was going to be creative in using Mingo and it will be interesting to see if he can live up to his draft status in the final year of his contract.
OK if u want 2 count Mingo, Hughes and Gilbert go ahead( I stand corrected)....I also said not on the team and some out of football...now me personally I wuld b embarrassed 2 use Pitt as an example since the guys u listed are near the top of their positions(Bell, DeCastro, Hayward and Gilbert) if the Browns somehow did that w just their 1st round picks since 2011(Taylor-gone), 2012(T-Rich and Weeden-gone), 2013(Mingo-bust), 2014(Gilbert-bust, Manziel-gone)....ur telling me they culdnt hit on any of these 1st rounds picks(6 total)...now Round 2 2011(Sheard and Little-gone), 2012(Schwartz-gone), 2013(no pick), 2014(Bitonio-starter)...so thats 1 starter in 10 draft picks that still on the team and ur talking the top 2 rounds which shuld b All Pro players or easy starters....mind boggling
I didn't say I was proud of how these draft picks panned out...I also didn't make an idiotic comment like, "not a single player is still on the team and some not even in football...Its truly amazing and almost impossible 4 this 2 happen" Yes, it is TRULY amazing and almost impossible...AND still hasn't happened with the Browns despite having 3 GMs, 4 Head Coaches and 9(including a different offensive coordinator for 7 years running to date) different coordinators in that span of time. The last time the Browns had an offensive coordinator 2 years in a row was Mangini's regime and Brian Daboll during the 2009-2010 seasons. What kind of environment is that to help rookies(or veterans for that matter) succeed? I don't blame the kids, it's on the management. I compared the Steelers, because the have the absolute PERFECT environment for a rookie to grow up in...yet, they still have players both on other teams AND out of the league all together...in fact they have more players out of the league than the Browns do. Mingo, hasn't panned out, Gilbert hasn't panned out...but Hughes has actually quietly been a solid pro. He is in line to become a possible starter with Bryant hurt... Now the NOT A SINGLE PLAYER ON THE TEAM remark is substantial..and yes there are players who have disappointed, but Joel Bitonio and Christian Kirksey aren't two of them..Not only are they both still on the team, but succeeding at their respective positions. You gave a 4 year window, and we have two very solid players out of those 12 rounds, despite the coaching circus we have seen...not to mention the defections...Solid players that moved on include Mitchell Schwartz(has never missed a snap since being drafted and considered a top 5 RT)and Jabaal Sheard(has averaged just over 6 sacks a year since being drafted) who have BOTH excelled as pros. It isn't about being disappointed that they didn't draft 6 pro bowlers in that 4 year span, it's about your "matter of fact" idiotic statements. Statements like that is why no one gives you the respect you most likely deserve on here. My rant would certainly be more about the issue at hand...coaching changes are a detriment to the growth of players, especially young players. I attribute that as the #1 contributor to rookie failure over this past decade. That is removing idiots like Manziel from the equation... New regime, new hope...I'm not even sure why your only posts dwell on what might have been instead of what could be. That is disappointing in and of itself.
I shouldn't get involved, but I will. IrishDawg makes sense. showstopper may not be smarter than a fifth grader (he or she may not be older than a fifth grader). Do not attempt to justify a message that has been utterly refuted in fact, and that has been discredited in logic. Now, just to piss you all off: "How 'bout them Buffalo Bills!"
