  1. Just to hit on what I wrote before. I forget who but one of my union brothers told me that the Indians have won more games in 3 weeks than the Browns have in a DECADE. I haven't researched it but WOW if that's true. I know the Indians won 13 games in a row in all but sweet Mary and Joseph!

I was at the parade for the Cavs. It was seriously amazing! Very crowded but a real good time. What I remember of it,lol

I already said this too but with OSU having the #1 recruiting class in 2017 coming, Cavs title, Monsters title and Tribe in 1st place the Browns really are way down the totem pole for me.

I've always been a huge buckeye fan but the Browns are in my blood. Chit I'm from Cleveland, lol I can honestly say I've paid more attention to Buckeye recruitment than the Browns as a whole. Maybe because I know the Browns have really no chance of playoff football and the Buckeyes getting 9 players drafted just may lose only 1 game. Im excited about the talent Meyer can get in here. I don't feel that with the Browns.

The worst thing that could happen to Jim Bob and the Browns is that the Indians win the central and go to the playoffs. If he is as competitive as he acts then how will he handle that? How will the fans of this beaten down franchise handle that? All knowing it is really more worse than most of us thought.

I think we have wrote about this before but this team still needs impact players.

    Cavs- James, Erving
    Indians- Salazar, Carrasco, Lindor
    Browns- Joe Thomas

We have been chatting about this for a while but this team needs impact players on both sides of the ball. Griffin is probably the best QB we have had here since this team came back. The NFL is changing. QB's have quicker releases because of the speed of defenses. So is Joe Thomas really an IMPACT PLAYER? he wont hurt you but as we all know he wont lead you to the playoffs either, lol I don't see the Browns winning more than 3 games so they will have a very high draft pick. Maybe this is the year they finally trade Joe Thomas to a contender for another pick.

Anyway ENJOY THIS CLEVELAND SPORTS RIDE WHILE YOU CAN! pretty soon its Browns town again, lol

    Doesn't take much research...

    Browns last 10 seasons= 51 wins...

There are only 21 days in a 3 week period...so either you are naive to his humor, or your union brother is a total idiot.

    __________________________________
Now that said, what the Indians have done is spectacular and definitely worth celebrating. I hope the season continues down this path and we can outdo the Cavs parade in October...

FYI, the past 3 weeks, Indians = 16 Wins...to only 3 losses!! That is awesome!!

    GO TRIBE!!

The QB. Els says RGIII is the best QB on the team.

I'm certianly not convinced. If I had to bet, I would say it's probably McCown. Not sexy or inspirting, but there it is, IMO. RGIII is "potentially" the best we have. The best upside. The most gifted athletically. But the best QB???????????

If I'm calling the shots, McCown doesn't go anywhere. I may not make him the starter, but if I'm going to roll the dice on RGIII, I want McCown there to school the rookie and to come in if/when RGIII flounders.

The guy did an admirable job last year, and I can't think of a better guy to mentor our rookie. He's not a salary problem, and he's tempermentally perfect as a team player, example of professionalism, and teacher.

I'd be as excited as any Browns fan to see RGIII return to form, but I don't expect it. More likely he will be limited in his athletic ability (vs his rookes year), and trying hard to become a heady QB, who's tools "could" make him very valuable.

Should the staff decide to let McCown go, I hope it is because RGIII has shown he "is" ready to be the man at QB, otherwise we are going to see a weakening at the position. Again.

Being an old man myself, maybe I'm just pulling for the old guy, but that's not how I see it. McCown is "solid". Can we say that about any of the other QBs on the roster? He is not the future, but may very well be a building block for creating that future success, by being there and mentoring, schooling, and supporting those who we think may be the future.

I realize we are string down the barrel of a long losing season, barring some miraculous re-birth of RGIII, so the team could cut him loose for an offer from some other team, but if I'm wearing the Brown Orange and White, I'd like to think we have a guy who can come in and operate the O with some proficiency, if the experiment fails with RGIII. Losing is hard enough to stomache, but you'd like to think the organization is protecting the downside, even if things go off the rails with plan A.

Tramon Williams said it was "real difficult" last year

    Fred Greetham

    2:47 PM

Veteran cornerback Tramon Williams said the 2015 season wasn't what he was expecting after joining the Browns as a free agent from Green Bay.

BEREA,Ohio--When Tramon Williams joined the Browns as an unrestricted free agent last season he never expected to be on a team that would win just three games after playing his entire NFL career up until then with Green Bay.

?It was real difficult," Williams said during the veteran minicamp. "For the most part, halfway through the year, I was still kind of getting adjusted to it. Later on in the year, it starts to wear on you in different ways, just pulling on you from different ways.

"Just frustration, you being out there doing more than you want to, just trying to make something happen at some point, and it doesn?t get any better," he said. "When you're at that point, it?s not going to get any better. We have a fresh start now, and hopefully, like you said, we can come out and have a better year this year.?

Williams was expected to be opposite of Pro Bowl cornerback Joe Haden, but ended up having to man the top cornerback spot for the majority of the season when Haden was plagued by injuries.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The Browns picked 14 players in the 2016 draft. Not a single one was a running back.

Make no mistake about it, though, the Browns are going to try to run the football.

"If you look at (head coach Hue Jackson's) record," run game coordinator Kirby Wilson said, "in terms of running the football and the amount that he runs it, you're going to find out that he really, truly does enjoy running the football. We are going to be a run-oriented football team."

That means the spotlight will shine brightly this season on a running back room that is very similar to the one left behind by former head coach Mike Pettine and general manager Ray Farmer.

"We are confident in that group," Executive VP of Player Personnel Sashi Brown said. "It doesn't mean that it is necessarily as accomplished as other running back corps around the league are, but Isaiah (Crowell) has a great opportunity, along with the other guys in that room. Duke (Johnson) certainly impressed us his rookie year. We expect big things out of both of those guys -- Glenn (Winston), Terrell (Watson) and the rest of that group as well."

That's the state of the Browns backfield just over three weeks away from the opening of training camp. That's also the next position in our series of camp previews.

Cleveland Browns training camp preview: Running backs

    The starters

    Isaiah Crowell

The former undrafted free agent had an up-and-down season in 2015. He rushed for 706 yards, up from his rookie rushing total of 607 yards. He averaged fewer yards per carry, though, and rushed for over 70 yards in just three games. He did manage to increase his production in the passing game, catching 19 passes for 182 yards and a score last season as compared to nine catches for 87 yards in 2014.

"I think Isaiah is a complete player, in terms of the tools that he brings to the game," Wilson said. "He's explosive, he's got really nice size, he's got the natural ability to play the position, and he's a bright young man, so football comes easy to him, in terms of the preparation part."

Crowell has at times expressed frustration over lack of consistency in carries and an inability to find a rhythm running the ball. He'll have the first crack this season at finding that consistency.

"I think he has the characteristics of a back that can be a big-time runner but he needs to do it very consistently and kind of in the way that we want it done, so I think he's up to the challenge," Jackson said.

    Duke Johnson

It didn't take Johnson long to establish himself as one of the Browns' top playmakers during his rookie season. While he struggled to find consistency carrying the ball, his versatility in the passing game was a welcome addition to the offense. Wilson went so far as to call Johnson "an ultimate weapon."

"I thought Duke has a lot of those qualities that a lot of great running backs have, in terms of being a receiver," Wilson said. "He's got receiver background, he played it in high school, and he's a playmaker whether he's spread out or coming out of the back field. He's very comfortable in space, he's got natural ability to catch the football, and he knows how to run routes."

Johnson carried the ball just 104 times last season, but caught 61 passes for 534 yards and a score. He had six games of five or more catches.

"Duke Johnson was a draft pick a year ago who kind of burst onto the scene and had a ton of catches and made some unbelievable plays," Jackson said. "So I'm looking forward to working with him. I think he's very talented."
    The other guys

Behind Crowell and Johnson, it's all about fighting for roster spots. Here are the players trying to get one of those jobs.

    Raheem Mostert

The Browns claimed Mostert off of waivers last December. He was an undrafted free agent out of Purdue in 2015 who signed with the Dolphins and appeared in games with the Dolphins, Ravens and Browns last season.

His path to making the roster is on special teams. He returned 19 kickoffs last season, averaging 27.9 yards per return.

"When we picked him up he did a really, really good job for us," special teams coordinator Chris Tabor said.

    Terrell Watson

Signed to the reserve/futures list in January, Watson has a connection to Jackson after spending all of last season on the Bengals practice squad. He came out of Azusa Pacific University and has a fascinating backstory. At 6-foot-1, 242 pounds, he's easily the biggest of the men competing for a job at halfback.

"He's got a real shot," Brown said. "Bigger man and certainly is going to be in the rotation through the spring and in training camp to try to earn a spot here."

    Glenn Winston

He waited nearly two full seasons to get his first NFL carry and, when he finally got it against San Francisco last December, fumbled and was later concussed on a special teams play. So it's been a slow start to Winston's career.
    The fullbacks

    Malcolm Johnson

One of Farmer's final draft picks, Johnson earned high praise from Wilson this offseason.

"We think Malcolm Johnson can develop into a top-flight fullback," he said. "We think that he has the fullback demeanor that we are looking for. We think that he has really good size, excellent football intelligence, he has proven that already, and you can't overload him. He is really, really sharp, and I liked him coming out of college. ... I think he's got a huge upside."

Johnson was a tight end in college, so it will be interesting to see if Jackson uses him more like an H-back, similar to Tyler Kroft in Cincinnati last season.

    Patrick Skov

Skov is an undrafted free agent out of Georgia Tech. He transferred there from Stanford and rushed for 377 yards on 93 carries and scored six touchdowns during his final season with the Jackets.

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- For a group that hasn't undergone much change this offseason, the Browns cornerback situation is murkier than they would likely prefer. That's the nature of having your top cornerback coming off of a season in which he couldn't stay healthy, your No. 2 on the wrong side of 30 and your top nickel corner already dealing with a history of concussions.

Last season, the secondary talked big, going so far as to call themselves Top 5 in the league. That didn't work out so well. The safety position is completely remade -- we'll get to them another day. This is a year of significantly lower expectations at both safety and corner, though.

There's potential for this group to end up better than expected in 2016. Health, as it is with all positions, is vital. Turning some underachieving prospects around could help, too. With that in mind, here is a closer look at the position exactly three weeks away from the opening of training camp.
    The starters

    Joe Haden

The former Pro-Bowler appeared in just five games in 2015, his season finally cut short by a concussion. Prior to that, he had struggled, most notably in the opening game of the season against Brandon Marshall, and he was unable to turn his fortunes around.

"He's one of our elite players that has to play better, and I told him that," defensive coordinator Ray Horton said prior to the start of the team's offseason program. "I said, 'Are you ready to go?' He said 'Yes, sir.'"

"I expect him to be back in the Pro Bowl," defensive backs coach Louie Cioffi said. "He's that kind of player. We are going to do everything we can to get him back to that status."

Anything short could leave the Browns secondary in a bad place.

    Tramon Williams

The veteran who came to Cleveland from Green Bay last season found himself thrust into the No. 1 cornerback spot and doing it amidst something he hadn't really experienced before: losing.

"It was real difficult," Williams said. "For the most part, halfway through the year I was still kind of getting adjusted to it, but later on in the year starts to kind of wear on you in different ways, just pulling from different ways, just with frustration, you being out there trying to do more than you want to, just trying to make something happen at some point and it don't get no better. When you're at that point, it's not going to get any better. We've got a fresh start now and, hopefully, like you said, we can come out and have a better year this year."

Williams, who has missed just two games in his career, remained a reliable presence but got beat a number of times as his secondary-mates skewed younger and he was forced to carry a larger load.

    K'Waun Williams

When he's been healthy, he's been very good at the nickel corner spot. Staying healthy has been a problem, though, and it has been concussions that have been the issue, sustaining the third of his brief career in September last season.
    The competitors

Behind those three, there are opportunities to be had, especially on the outside. The Browns bring back a trio of young corners and brought in some outsiders to compete.

    Trey Caldwell

The fifth-round pick will likely compete at the nickel corner in camp. Vice president of player personnel Andrew Berry calls him an "athletic, fast, feisty corner. He can play outside and can play inside."

    Pierre Desir

The last pick of Ray Farmer's first draft, Desir played well at the end of 2014 but struggled after going in for Haden in 2015. There appears to be talent there. It just needs to translate onto the field.
    Charles Gaines

It took until November for Gaines to see action during his rookie season due to injury. Much like Desir, he fell victim to the ripple effect of missing Haden and was forced into the No. 2 cornerback spot.
    Justin Gilbert

"I can't talk about what has gone on here in the past," head coach Hue Jackson said of the troubled third-year player. "For him, I know it is well documented, but that is not the young man that I have met since I got here and have talked to him and have had exchanges with. He's been sensational. He has done everything that we have asked him to do, the way we have asked him to do it."

"With Justin, he's a talented young man that we need to get the talent from inside of him out onto the football field," said Horton.

"What we are going to do is do everything we can in our power to get him to reach his goals," Cioffi said.

In other words, Justin, you get to hit the reset button. Now it's on you to figure it out.
    Jamar Taylor

A 2013 second round pick who failed to live up to expectations in Miami, the Browns acquired him during the draft and are hoping he can turn his opportunity in Cleveland into a fresh start.

"He has to come here and fit into our culture and do the things we're asking our young men to do each and every day to follow our program," Jackson said. "I think he will. This is a shot. It's an opportunity for him, but at the same time I think he recognizes, and we do too, that that it has the potential to work out."

  8. CB is a huge problem on this team. Considering this is a pass happy league now a days. Haden I feel is a good CB but not an elite one. It seems he gets toasted by the good WR's. This Williams guy is a nickel back or backup.

I guess Rome wasn't built in a day and Ceasar ended up dead in the street but during this rebuild I would like for the Browns to draft another CB kinda early in the draft this next time around.

I liked the fact they drafted a lot of WR's and D-lineman. I'm tired of Gordon. Coleman isn't the big WR that I like but he has speed. Younger and faster is my theory with this rebuild.

Im not going to lie here. I don't expect very many wins but improvement each week with this team. I really like the coaching staff. On both sides of the ball. I feel good coaches can coach up their talent. Kinda like Francona and Callaway with the Indians. I feel the Browns have that kinda coaching staff now. Needless to say I couldn't stand the last regime, at all. Oh well....... Just have to wait and see.

CLEVELAND, Ohio ? Browns running back Isaiah Crowell plans to apologize Monday for posting a drawing of a police officer having his throat slashed on Instagram, a league source told cleveland.com.

The person slashing the officer's throat is wearing a black jacket and hood with is face covered. He's wearing black gloves, has an ankh pendent around his neck and an American flag backpack on. Blood is spurting out of the officer's neck and mouth, which is covered by the murderer's hand.

Crowell's caption read, "They give police all types of weapons and they continually choose to kill us....#Weak."

The post, which received 33 likes, was quickly taken down from his account, but was screenshotted and circulated on social media.

Crowell posted the drawing after white police officers fatally shot two black men last week, one in Minnesota and one in Louisiana. But it went up before five police officers were slain in Dallas on Friday during a protest of the two shootings, the source said.

Crowell, the Browns' third-year running back and leading rusher in 2015, is expected to issue an apology today on social media and try to provide some context for his decision to post the graphic drawing.

    Isaiah Crowell's Instagram post

Isaiah Crowell quickly deleted this offensive drawing.

The Browns are aware of the post and Crowell's forthcoming statement.

Crowell's agents did not immediately return a call seeking comment. The NFL also did not immediately respond to an email seeking comment.

Crowell, expected to get the bulk of the carries this season, led the Browns with 706 yards on 185 carries, including four touchdowns. He also caught 19 passes for 182 yards with one touchdown.

Crowell was signed by the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Alabama State in 2014.

this is another instance of vigilante justice. shallowly informed mental midgets continue to delve into what is perceived but may not be actually true. i am not confirming or denying the footage shot in minnesota. i do not trust the media. i will wait and let justice run its course. as for the dude shot in baton rouge. it would have nice of him to follow police commands, might have saved him some blood (all of it). pulling the racism card on every incident really hurts everyone.

No place on my team for anyone that would wish violence upon another human being....

Browns need to release him immediately, imo. Wins are not worth the hate he has helped spread and what he could be capable of doing in the future. He needs to learn a tough lesson about life and responsibility.

I would also expect the NFL to suspend him, this is detrimental to the league allowing players to beget violence in any fashion, let alone cold blooded murder. I would never assume his Twitter is at the level to influence, but as any public figure, it certainly is possible.

Mr. and Mrs. Haslem, do the right thing and make the decision for your management team to show your intolerance for violence in any form.

I heard about his posting but hadn't seen it till now. Agree or disagree with BLM, and blame or don't blame the media, the answer will never be more violence. It is unfortunate for him to have turned things around after the incident his freshman year at Georgia only to (more than likely) been over taken with emotion and posting something without thinking it through. As Herm Edwards always says "don't click send".

If anyone happened to catch the Bruce Hooley show yesterday, I caught the last few callers on my way home from work and they were mostly well spoken. One of the last gentleman really had a good point, everyone needs to step back from the situation and truly assess everything from both sides instead of rushing to judge immediately when things happen.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer's Mary Kay Cabot reports the Browns have "no plans" to cut Isaiah Crowell following his insensitive Instagram post.

Crowell posted an image of a police officer being stabbed in the neck by a hooded person last Wednesday, but it came to a head Monday. Crowell deleted it and issued an apology, before the Browns released a statement saying they want more from the running back, wanting him to be part of the solution. Cleveland fans and media have called for Crowell's release, but the team doesn't appear to be going down that road. If they change their minds, Terrell Watson would be a name to keep in mind.

    total BS!

  16. bluez M.V.P. Browns Indians

The Browns don?t believe it?s good enough for running back Isaiah Crowell?s to simply apologize for posting on social media an image of an attack on a police officer. The union that represents Cleveland?s police officers agrees.

Stephen Loomis, the president of Cleveland Police Patrolmen?s Association, calls Crowell?s gesture a ?store-bought apology.? In comments to TMZ, Loomis also described Crowell?s post as being as ?offensive as putting a picture of historical African-American men being hung from a tree in the 60s.?

Loomis has a specific suggestion for what Crowell needs to do next.

?He needs to go to Dallas, help the families who lost their loved ones last week, write them a check, look them in the eyes and give a heartfelt apology,? Loomis told TMZ. If Crowell doesn?t, there will be consequences.

?I will pull Cleveland officers, sheriffs, state troopers out of First Energy Stadium this season if he doesn?t make it right,? Loomis said. ?You?re a grown-ass man, and you claim you were too emotional to know it was wrong? Think we?ll accept your apology? Kiss my ass.?

The Browns haven?t cut Crowell, presumably because they value his football skills. If he were lingering at the bottom of the roster, he?d already be gone. If the team is going to keep him, it would be wise for the Browns to encourage him to do what Loomis has requested.

Browns defensive end Desmond Bryant is likely to miss the 2016 season due to a torn pectoral muscle, Anthony Lima of 92.3 The Fan and WOIO Channel 19 in Cleveland reported Tuesday night.

The report said Bryant had surgery Tuesday to repair the tear and faces a 5-6 month recovery period, which means he?s likely to miss the entire 2016 season.

Byrant led the Browns with six sacks last season and was again expected to be a starter and key player in the team?s defense under defensive coordinator Ray Horton, who was also the team?s defensive coordinator in 2013, the first year Bryant played for the Browns.

A former undrafted success story out of Harvard, Bryant, 30, broke into the league with the Raiders and played four seasons there before signing with the Browns in 2013. He?s started 59 of 104 career games and has started all 41 games he?s played the last three seasons in Cleveland.

The Browns already were starting the season without defensive end/outside linebacker Armonty Bryant, who?s serving a four-game NFL suspension.

CLEVELAND, Ohio ? Browns running back Isaiah Crowell posted a video on his Facebook account early this morning apologizing for his Instagram post and vowing to donate his first game check to the Dallas Fallen Office police fund.

One game is worth $35,294.12. He's in the final year of a three-year, $1.54 million deal that pays him $600,000 this year.

Crowell also promised to be part of the solution and not the problem after posting an illustration of a police officer being stabbed in the neck by a hooded figure on Wednesday. The post was in response to the fatal shootings of two black men by police last week and came a day before the sniper attack that left five police officers in Dallas dead.

Crowell has drawn the wrath of the Browns fans, some media and the head of the Cleveland Police Patrolmen's Association President Steve Loomis, who called for Crowell to apologize in person to the families of officers killed in Dallas in person and to donate to them.
"If that man needs to make this right, he needs to make a grand gesture," Loomis told cleveland.com.
Loomis threatened that if Crowell did not do so, his officers would not work security detail for Browns games.
"If the Browns don't think I can get this done, I've got some swamp land in Florida to sell them," Loomis said.
A source said Crowell was already in the process of making restitution to the families and taping his video before Loomis' remarks.

Here is the full transcript of Crowell's video:

"Last week like so many others I was frustrated and upset about what is going on in our country. I have friends and family members dealing with violence, I've seen violence throughout the country and I'm really emotional about it. And during that emotion, I did something I wish I could take back. I posted a really disgusting, bad picture and I took it down immediately because I knew I was wrong. Nobody had to tell me to take it down... not my PR, agent or the Browns had to tell me to take it down because I knew I was wrong. I'm sorry, and I hope you understand that that's not who I am. I would never wish violence on anyone, especially a police officer. I'm sorry to all the Browns fans, all the people who support my career, all the kids out there who look up to me, and most of all the good police officers that are out there protecting us everyday.

By posting that picture, I became part of the problem. I don't want to be part of the problem, I want to be part of the solution. And to back that up my first game check is going to the Dallas Fallen Officer Foundation. Also, I'm committed to doing whatever I can to create open dialogue between my communities and the police who serve us.
I know this might not change your mind about me and I know I can't take the post back, but I'm sorry. And moving forward I'm committed to being part of the solution.
