No I didn't like Louis...he was highly recruited but chose a bad offense in Aub...never lived up 2 the hype
oh ok...I remember you mentioned 2 WR's as sleepers...one was Marquez North, who was drafted, and I thought the other was Ricardo Louis..
Fred Greetham 6:54 PM The Browns added 14 players in the NFL Draft to tie an NFL Record BEREA?If the Browns new regime?s vision is to build through the draft with quantity?mission accomplished. The hope there is much quality to go with the quantity. After three days, the Browns ended up making five trades, drafting 14 players grabbing eight offensive players and six from the defensive side. They also acquired veteran cornerback Jamar Taylor from the Dolphins for a seventh-round draft pick to give them 15 new players on the roster. The Browns tied the 1997 Miami Dolphins for the most picks in the NFL Draft since the draft went to seven rounds. In addition to the extra picks acquired in this year?s draft, the Browns added an extra first round pick from the Eagles in 2017 and an extra second round pick from the Titans in 2017, a seventh-round pick from the Colts in 2017 to go along with an extra second round pick from the Eagles in 2018. The Browns traded away a 2017 fourth-round pick to the Eagles and a sixth-or seventh- round pick to the 49ers. ?I think we?ve strengthened our team and we?ve accomplished a lot,? Hue Jackson said. On offense, the Browns added four wide receivers in top pick Corey Coleman, Ricardo Louis, Jordan Payton and Rashard Higgins. In addition, they drafted Seth DeValve, who played receiver in college but is viewed as a tight end for the Browns. The added receivers is a drastic departure from the previous regime, who drafted just one wide receiver in two years (Vince Mayle, 2015 fourth-round). The moves could be signaling the organization is moving on from suspended wide receiver Josh Gordon, who is eligible to appeal his suspension with the NFL again in August. The Browns also drafted two offensive tackles, who will likely battle for the starting right tackle job vacated when Mitchell Schwartz left via free agency. Shon Coleman and Spencer Drango will likely compete with Austin Pasztor, Alvin Bailey and Michael Bowie for the position. The Browns also added their developmental quarterback in the third-round in Cody Kessler from USC, who had a 78 percent completion percentage last year in college. Defensively, the Browns used their second- and third- highest picks to take a pair of pass rushers in Emmanuel Ogbah and Carl Nassib. The duo had 28 sacks between them last year in college, compared to the Browns having just 29 sacks as a team in 2015. The Browns started the third day of the draft picking linebacker Joe Schobert from Wisconsin and ended it by taking another linebacker Scooby Wright from Arizona. They added safety Derrick Kindred in the fourth-round and cornerback Trey Caldwell in the fifth. Jackson said it doesn?t matter to him where a player is drafted. ?I don?t think you can ever put a limit on any of these guys, regardless of their draft status? Jackson said. ?We?re looking forward to letting these guys compete and letting the cream rise to the top.? The players feel they can be a part of the Browns turnaround. ?The biggest thing is moving forward,? Kessler said. ?For us at USC, we had some tough times. There was a year where we were supposed to No. 1 in the country. It was before I played, and we ended up going 7-7 or 7-6, and it was some dark times. We had sanctions. We weren?t producing like we should?ve and all of these other things going on. I took upon myself as a leader to kind of step into that role. Then, the very next year, we?re 3-2 and (former Southern California Head) Coach (Lane) Kiffin had just got let go. It was tough. We could?ve gone downhill and everything could?ve collapsed, but I took upon myself and some of the other guys on this team ? (TE) Randall Telfer was there with me, also ? we kind of stepped up in front of the guys and ended up winning 10 or 11 games that year. ?It?s obviously tough for me ? I haven?t gotten here yet, I haven?t actually gotten around these guys,? he said. ?We still have to earn our respect and if you want to be a leader as a quarterback you definitely have to work for it ? but I think the tools are all there just being around the coaching staff and watching the guys and Coach Jackson with everything that he preaches. You just feel it. You feel the vibe. You feel the positive energy. I?m pumped. I?m excited to be a part of it and I really do believe this program is going in the right direction just from the short time that I?ve gotten to know this staff, the front office and everybody involved. I think it?s going to be a great journey. I?m excited to kind of get here with the rest of these guys when we?re kind of starting to get going. It?s going to be fun ride.? Top pick Corey Coleman agreed. ?It?s crazy, man,? Coleman said. ?The fans here are amazing. They're really happy. They?re ride or dies who will stick with us all the way so we know what we are going to get with that. The feeling, it is just a loving town. We?re just all ? I can speak for everyone ? we will do our best to change this organization around.? Here is the Browns 2016 Draft class: 1. Corey Coleman (Rd. 1, 15th overall) (5-11, 190)WR Baylor 2. There were 107 players who gave up remaining college football eligiblity to enter the 2016 NFL Draft. Thirty of them went undrafted. Among the notable players who went undrafted as early entries are Oklahoma?s Dominique Alexander, Auburn?s Peyton Barber, Tennessee?s Marquez North, Indiana?s Darius Latham, Bowling Green?s Roger Lewis and Ohio State?s Tyvis Powell and Jalin Marshall. Ohio State had 12 players drafted after 11 of them went in the first 102 picks. Ohio State fell short of its own record of 14 players selected in single draft set in 2004. NFL teams start working to sign undrafted players before the draft ends. Some will reach deals ? or already have ? soon, though some teams don?t announce such signings until Sunday or well into next week. Marshall told Cleveland.com he heard from ?half the league? but plans to sign with the Jets. Lewis tweeted that he?s headed to the Giants.

Haslam has denied any knowledge of the scheme that has cost Pilot Flying J $177 million in settlements with customers and the government since it came to light after federal agents raided the company's Knoxville, Tennessee, headquarters in April 2013. Pilot's former president and seven others, including two former top executives, have been indicted and face trial next year on charges they conspired to cheat customers out of promised discounts and rebates. Another 10 former employees have pleaded guilty in the fraud. But Haslam has not been charged criminally and for three years has fought legal efforts by trucking companies to depose him. While about 5,500 firms were part of a class-action lawsuit against Pilot that settled quickly, Mobile-based Wright Transportation is one of several that opted pursue their own lawsuits in state court. Haslam has been ordered to sit for a deposition in that case. On Friday, Mobile Circuit Court Judge Sarah Stewart declined Haslam's request to reconsider her order, according to al.com. But that does not end his attorneys' efforts to stop the deposition. They have also filed a motion for a protective order, claiming the case should not move forward until jurisdictional issues are resolved. On May 13, the court will hear arguments on that motion. Pilot is owned by Haslam and his brother, Tennessee Gov. Bill Haslam, who has said he is not involved with operating the company. It is the nation's largest diesel retailer with $31.4 billion in revenue in 2014.
It?s way too early to start thinking about which players are available in next year?s NFL draft. But it?s not too late to declare that the Browns will be in good shape next year. The Browns have two first-round picks and two second-round picks in the 2017 NFL draft, thanks to trades with the Eagles and Titans. Cleveland is also expected to get multiple compensatory picks next year, so the Browns should get a big haul of talent a year from now. Despite trading away their second-round pick, the Titans are also in good shape for 2017, thanks to having the Rams? first- and third-round picks. And the Vikings, who acquired the Dolphins? third- and fourth-round picks, also have to like how the 2017 draft looks. Here?s the full list of 2017 NFL draft picks that have already changed hands: Round 1 Cleveland has Philadelphia?s pick. Tennessee has L.A.?s pick. Round 2 Cleveland has Tennessee?s pick. Round 3 Tennessee has L.A.?s pick. Minnesota has Miami?s pick. Round 4 Chicago has Buffalo?s pick. Minnesota has Miami?s pick. Washington has the New York Jets? pick. New England has Seattle?s pick. New England forfeited its pick as punishment for Deflategate. Philadelphia will receive a fourth-round compensatory pick from Cleveland, unless Cleveland doesn?t get one, in which case Philadelphia will get Cleveland?s fifth-round pick. Round 5 Buffalo has Dallas?s pick. San Francisco has Washington?s pick. Washington has New Orleans? pick. Round 6 Houston has Chicago?s pick. San Francisco has Denver?s pick. Washington has Houston?s pick. Denver has Tennessee?s pick. Kansas City forfeited its pick as punishment for tampering. Round 7 Dallas has Buffalo?s pick. Seattle has Carolina?s pick. San Francisco has Cleveland?s pick. Los Angeles has Tennessee?s pick. Philadelphia has Denver?s pick. Cleveland has Indianapolis?s pick.
Scooby Wright was sitting with his family waiting for his name to be called in the NFL Draft. But as Saturday winded down, his name had not been called. Building up to a momentous day and not getting what you were expecting can be heartbreaking and emotional in so many ways. But luckily his name was eventually picked by the Browns with the 250th pick. Wright sobbed with his family after getting the phone call, as a sigh of relief that his name was called. But when he realized his dream had come true, he celebrated by jumping into the pool. We don't blame him. That's a great way to cool down after a rollercoaster of emotions.
Browns EVP of football operations Sashi Brown claims third-round QB Cody Kessler will get a chance to start. "It's a competition," Brown said. "We'll let it play out." Although both Brown and coach Hue Jackson are openly smitten with Kessler, consider us deeply skeptical that he'll get a legitimate chance to start as a rookie. Kessler is essentially a prototype game manager. He needs time to get up to NFL speed, and is best suited for clipboard duties in 2016, at least to begin the year. It will be a different story if Robert Griffin III hasn't made major strides on his final days in Washington.
I haven't had a minus in a few posts but I thought these guys were suppose 2 b smart? If so how on earth do they think Kessler is even close 2 a starting QB right now...smh
lol ..Stopper mind games at play . just making sure RGIII Doesn't get to comfortable . or maybe they really do mean it ?? Let the competition begin .
Browns have signed: DT Kyle Rose West Virginia TE JP Holtz Pittsburg FB Patrick Skov Georgia Tech CB Tracy Howard Miami (FL) CB Kenya Dennis Missouri C Mike Matthews Texas A&M K Andrew Baggett Missouri
The Cleveland Browns have signed Texas A&M offensive lineman Mike Matthews according to his brother offensive tackle Jake Matthews of the Atlanta Falcons. The Matthews family is well-known in NFL circles. Their father, Bruce Matthews, was a fourteen time Pro Bowl player after being drafted in the top-10 by the Tennessee Titans/Houston Oilers franchise. Their uncle, Clay Matthews Jr., was a hard-hitting linebacker for the Cleveland Browns. The newest Matthews will don the same Orange and Brown uniform of his uncle after completing a standout career with Texas A&M. He was considered a seventh round pick or undrafted free agent by WalterFootball. He was the No. 13 center prospect available in the draft according to the same site. Have no fear Browns fans; another Matthews will wear a Browns jersey.
RB Paul James, Rutgers (tryout, not signed) ILB Dominique Alexander, Oklahoma LS Kirk Willis, Cincinnati (tryout, not signed)
I could have sworn it was Louis, but I went to the WR thread and checked, and you were right....Your sleepers were Marquez North (UDFA) signed with Rams, and Keyarris Garrett who also went undrafted and signed with Carolina... Meanwhile, my guy Pharoh Cooper went two picks after we took Ricardo Louis in the 4th.... *DONT_KNOW* from what I've read, Louis is big and fast and can't catch the football very well....That was the most disappointing pick IMO...Most had Louis projected much later, if at all... And I checked Walter Football to see what I could find out about the kid from Princeton, and they never heard of him....He just had question marks in his draft grade with this comment: "leave it to the Browns to use a 4th round pick on a player nobody ever heard of.".... We had some picks I really loved, and some picks that i just couldn't understand at all.... The Cleveland Browns draft started strong and finished strong, but got a little strange in the middle....Glad they had a ton of picks. If they can hit on half of them, it'll be a great draft. Draft grades are stupid, but if I had to give it one: B- I can't give it better than that when they selected like 4 guys that I didn't think would get drafted at all, including their QB prospect in the 3rd rd.....Plus one guy in the 4th rd that I had never even heard of....I might have stretched a little with that grade but I liked the 7th round trade that netted us Dolphins CB Jamar Taylor, and all the future picks acquired in the early trade downs...
The Browns are looking for the 2016 Draft class in Cleveland to lead the charge for "change" Hayden Grove Yesterday at 6:54 PM The Browns want Cleveland's top five selections in the 2016 NFL Draft to lead the charge for change. BEREA, OHIO? Five of the newest members of the Cleveland Browns organization sat at the front of the Dino Lucarelli Media Center in Berea on Saturday, shoulder-to-shoulder. Almost in uniform, each wearing well-tailored suits and Browns pins upon their lapels, not a single player of the quintet stood out from, or above, the rest. The image of Corey Coleman, Emmanuel Ogbah, Carl Nassib, Shon Coleman and Cody Kessler sitting at the podium looked a bit different than previous details of draftees on the dais. The new look might have been designed to mirror the desired new direction of the Browns. ?You can tell that a change is coming,? Ogbah said. ?I feel like we are ready to make that change for you guys.? Change is what the Browns have been aiming for since the end of the miserable 2015 season and the team hopes that the 2016 draft class will lead that charge. ?I truly believe that this class will start to put a stamp on what we are truly about and what we are becoming,? Browns head coach Hue Jackson said. ?We have a long way to go, but you have to start some place. I think this is where we are starting.? While the class as a whole will headline any potential change for the Browns, each of Cleveland?s first five selections foreshadowed the new direction in which the team is heading. It all started with Coleman, the Baylor pass-catcher who became the first receiver drafted by the Browns in the first round since 2005. With said distinction, Coleman is looking forward to being a catalyst for change in Cleveland. ?It?s just an exciting time to be a part of this organization,? Coleman said. ?I can speak for everyone ? we will do our best to change this organization around.? Following Coleman came back-to-back pass rushers for the Browns-- Ogbah of Oklahoma State in the second round and Nassib of Penn State in the third round. Each knows that the Browns have been deficient in their collective ability to reach the quarterback. They know as well that it?s going to be their responsibility to replicate their ridiculous pass-rushing numbers in college at the professional level. ?As you can see, he led the NCAA in sacks, and I was right behind him so we have a knack for getting to the quarterback,? Ogbah said. ?We?re bringing that pass rush, getting back there and getting after him.? Then, of course, came the other Coleman -- Shon -- who will be tasked with replacing Mitchell Schwartz at right tackle. Though Cleveland?s offensive line has often been the strength of the team over the years, toughness hasn?t always been the strong suit for the Browns. Coleman, who battled leukemia upon his arrival to Auburn, will help to bring the tenacity that's been missing back to the table in Cleveland. ?It has taught me to be patient and whatever opportunity gets thrown my way, take it and run with it,? Coleman said. ?I have a long way to go as far as learning technique, getting better with these guys, working with them. I have awhile to go, but I am willing to work for it.? Finally, the Browns know all too well the problems associated with poor play at the quarterback position. Each quarterback that?s arrived in Cleveland since 1999-- be it through the draft of any other avenue-- has fizzled and faded, leaving Cody Kessler with quite the tall task to turn things around. While he has the intense backing of Jackson, who wants fans to trust his judgement, Kessler has been called out for his many shortcomings as a quarterback, both in Cleveland and around the country. Many may not believe he's the guy to flip the fortunes of quarterbacks in Cleveland, but Kessler relishes the opportunity to prove them wrong. ?I like the pressure,? Kessler said. ?I heard different things. I wanted to go out on pro day and prove that I can make all the throws and that I was going to work hard and be a guy that?s going to get production.? As Cleveland?s quintet sat at the podium on Saturday, it was clear that the five will form the foundation of the future for the Browns. That foundation is unlike any prior to it, or so hopes Jackson. ?I know you guys keep saying ?rebuilding,?? Jackson said. ?I won?t call it that because I really don?t believe in that.? To rebuild means that something was built prior. Since 1999, the Browns haven?t built much of anything, which is why Cleveland is hoping that the starting five of the team's 2016 Draft class will be the beginning of something completely new. ?It is going to be a change,? Jackson said, ?and we are looking forward to it." For all of your Browns news and updates from Berea, follow Hayden Grove on Twitter: @H_Grove.
Sashi Brown believes that after his first NFL Draft, the Browns will have the last laugh Hayden Grove Yesterday at 9:16 PM Sashi Brown believes that after Cleveland's 2016 NFL Draft, it will be the Browns that have the last laugh. BEREA, OHIO? Sashi Brown sat in front of the microphone with a look of relief on his face. After a record-tying 14 selections, his first NFL Draft as Cleveland?s top decision-maker (re: Executive Vice President of Football Operations) was complete. As it turns out, the process was quite draining. ?It?s pretty overwhelming when you?re leading a group of people who work so hard and a fan base that?s so passionate about it,? Brown said. ?There?s no question there?s pressure in the job.? Though said pressure was a bit for Brown to bare at times, he feels as though the weekend was successful, as Cleveland addressed holes at positions of need, stockpiled talent and set itself for future drafts. ?I think everybody has the sense that we are headed into a positive direction after a long off season and another difficult transition,? Brown said. ?It has been a really a positive three days, a culmination of a lot of hard work.? Now that the draft is done, Brown will have to deal with the critics-- those who will bash his moves and the direction of the Browns incessantly in the days to come. He isn?t one to seek out the seething comments or any outside opinions for that matter. If he is to cross criticism, however, Brown feels that only way to handle the harsh words is to put a winning product on the field. ?I?m tough enough to live up to the skepticism and fight through it,? Browns said. ?I know that the only way that I?ll prove them wrong is not by being defensive but really proving it in our work.? For nearly 20 years, Browns fans have watched new regimes come in and declare that their latest draft was the one to truly turn things around for the Browns. Brown? along with VP of Player Personnel Andrew Berry and head coach Hue Jackson? is just as guilty as any for making said statements. It doesn?t mean, however, that he doesn?t have any faith in them. ?I know I?ll do my best to make the smartest decisions for the organization,? Brown said. ?I have an obligation to the fan base, to the people that work in this building, to our players, to our coaches and the city of Cleveland to turn this thing around.? As he poured back some water to unwind after arguably one of the toughest weekends of his career in football front offices, Brown was asked if he?d heard about the negative stigma surrounding the Browns and the NFL Draft. Quickly, Brown replied. ?I had not heard,? Brown said, before smiling and laughing, as the sarcasm dripped from his voice. Of course, Brown knows what the league thinks of him and of the Browns, but feels too that he?ll be the one to laugh going forward. In his estimation, following Cleveland?s 2016 NFL Draft haul, the league won?t be able to do so much longer. ?(There will) probably (be) a few less laughs after this weekend than there were going in,? Brown said. ?I think there are brighter days ahead.? For all of your Browns news and updates from Berea, follow Hayden Grove on Twitter: @H_Grove.
