I told u guys Floyd and Neal...Coleman is a burner that can accelerate but hands iffy...I wuld have went Treadwell or Doctson
At this point Treadwell is still available, if we could get him to pair with Coleman, I think that would be a coup... Still time.... (EDIT) nevermind....
I wonder if the Browns ivy leaguers will be smart enough to start drafting Buckeyes. It worked for Paul Brown, lol
I got the Coleman part of the equation right. Does that earn me enough credit to spend on a double or nothing bet that Cook is the pick for the Browns at the top of the second?
They went 1-2, as expected, but there was no run on quarterbacks late in Thursday night?s first round of the NFL Draft. The Broncos traded up from No, 31 to No. 26 and selected Paxton Lynch, but no other quarterbacks were taken. NFL Network?s Ian Rapoport reported that the Cowboys tried unsuccessfully to make a trade back into the first round to beat the Broncos to Lynch. So, the Broncos have their quarterback of the future and probably won?t be further involved with trade talks involving Colin Kaepernick and Sam Bradford. The Browns hold the first pick of Friday?s second round, at No, 32, and could also be looking to draft a quarterback. The Cowboys hold pick No. 34 and on Thursday were true to owner Jerry Jones? earlier words that they?d pursue a quarterback, just not in the first round. By most pre-draft rankings, Connor Cook is probably the next quarterback off the board. Cardale Jones, Dak Prescott, Christian Hackenberg and Jacoby Brissett, in some order, are in the next group. Whether Cook goes early on Friday or is around for 20 more picks is anyone?s guess. The wheeling and dealing Browns will probably field calls about their pick and could move it to a team that wants to come up ? and not necessarily for a quarterback. Other teams that could potentially be in the quarterback market in the second round are the Chiefs (Nos. 37 and 59), Saints (47), Bills (49) and Jets (51).
OK Browns nation...now that we have so many extra picks, do we take advantage and throw some caution to the wind?? I would think someone would trade up for Myles Jack at this point...but I would also say with all of these picks, they can afford to take the chance on his knee themselves...THEN....in the 3rd round take the flyer on Jaylon Smith as well... They have set themselves up to possibly get the two best LBers in the entire draft, yet still have picks to add other pieces to the puzzle. Could you imagine both Jack and Smith in the same defense???
No ur not talking 4th or 5th round...ur talking 2nd n 3rd rounds and the Browns need starters not possibilities....if their gonna take a risk pick go w Spence over either guy above
That's just way too much gamble (even for me) given what I've read , especially about Smith.....You really want us to do that with fresh memories of Ekpre-Olamu and Montario Hardesty still stinging? If somebody offers us a great deal to move up for Jack, I think we should take it...Not sure we should mess with the iffy knee prospects...I love the idea of UCLA Jack on our D, I'm just not sure if he'll ever be that again...It would make me beyond nervous. But agree, that the upside could be worth it here.... I love the way they are handling this draft so far....We need lots of help and now we are loaded with picks in the top 100, and just might add more...I think "Moneyball" loves sitting at #32 as every GM resets after day 1.... I know I shouldn't do it, but I can't help but think about the Baylor trio rocking and rolling in Cleveland.....RG3, Coleman and Gordon could really present a lot of problems for defenses....I know Griffin and Gordon are fired up about that pick, and it makes me think maybe we aren't targeting Cook at all....They might be thinking Prescott or Cardale. I know Hue loves guys that can move... This is going to be a fun night for Browns fans...
There is Spence, Ragland, Robinson, Reed,Ogbah....whew! A lot of talented defenders that aren't currently concerned about career threatening knee issues....No need to take huge risk IMO... I would feel differently if we were a player or two away from competing for a title....
Actually, I wouldn't mind getting another weapon right here. Hunter Henry does it all as far as a TE goes. I really expected him to go in the 1st round. He could step right in day one and be a bookend with Barnidge. If I'm not mistaken, Hue Jackson loves two TE sets as a part of his playbook.
To be honest, I will be surprised if they don't trade down here...and again on Saturday when they are sitting on top again in the 4th round. (edit) The Falcons were widely rumored to need Darron Lee, but decided to go safety in the first round...They could give us #50 and #81 to come up for Myles Jack... Of if the Patriots are really pissed about not getting that first rounder back, they could trade #60 and #61 and essentially still have a first round draft pick, picking at #32.
Hey Irish !!!!! I got another QB draft double or nothing offer. *ROFL* To be clear; Double or nothing that the Browns use the #32 pick on Cook. Right? You, sir, are on with THAT one. *SHADES*
The Cleveland Browns silenced their critics at the NFL Draft on Thursday night, and the guy they selected did the same. The Browns took Corey Coleman with the No. 15 pick ??? making RG3 a happy man ??? and the Baylor wide receiver immediately provided a highlight. Asked about his size, the 5-foot-11, 185-pound Coleman came up with the best quote of the draft. "If size mattered, elephants would be king of the jungle," Coleman said.
Not happy at all with the Browns thus far in the draft... Traded back from 2 to 15 (amassing a ton of picks) then when they're at #15, and have their pick of the litter as far a WR goes (A HUGE need!) ..... They pick.... ANOTHER sub 6' 'speed' guy (with iffy hands "Dropped 10 passes for a drop rate of 11.9 percent" that's from his NFL.com draft profile) ... they needed a big bodied, physical WR... WHO CAN CATCH THE DAMN BALL!!! Sorry for the negativity today, but this appears to once again be the same damn movie we've been watching for the last 17 years.... If they really felt the need to go with an undersized speedy type WR, I really, REALLY wished they would've went Will Fuller! That kid is a burner WITH hands! Here's to hoping I'm wrong boys... *DRINK*
Well, JYD, I guess we just have to let The Harvard Nerds do their job and wait and see. I was hoping Treadwell or Doctson myself. But it looks like they went with speed over size with the pick. I'm not disappointed with what they've done so far. They got the top WR on their board and now have for next year's draft (I believe) two 1st round picks, two 2nd's and two 3rd's. This was easily our best first round in the last 10+ years and they have enough ammo with next year to get this team competitive quickly (if they don't emulate our last 5-8 years of drafting). They may be competitive after next years draft. And if not, I fully expect them to be in 2018. I don't think this FO is just spinning its wheels. Haslam may actually have done things right and set the team on the path to a quick improvement. We'll find out in a couple of seasons.
