The new DPL.

  1. I'm kinda hoping they trade back into the bottom of the first or just use the 32nd on Connor Cook

I'll bet a beer on the Browns moving back up in the first to take Connor Cook. I'm thinking Arizona would be the most likely trade partner. They were pretty strong on vetting him leading up to the draft.

That's another reason it makes sense for the Browns to move back a little more and acquire some picks while ultimately targeting a WR (they put a lot of work in getting to know Corey Coleman).

And for the record - I think Cook is a better prospect than Lynch.

I'm thinking I'm just going to sit back and see what the Hahvahd law firm does.

Frankly, I don't have a clue on what to expect out this draft room.

It's a unique situation. New staff with a new approach to an old game. It could make for some interesting twists.

I don't get all the "love" for Cook *SCRATCH*

After watching him play, I didn't see a QB that would have the Moxy to lead his team to a SB. I saw a QB that will likely make a solid backup, part-time starter. I'd rather take my chances with RGIII and draft a WR/RB/OLB instead.

Edit: And Please for the sanity for the entire Browns nation DO NOT Move into the No. 22 slot. Especially if they want a QB there *WALL*

If Bosa is there, I think Ravens take him...Though they could be the team that moves down to 15 in a trade with Tennessee. It depends on if Tunsil is there.....I think the Titans want to move back up for him....

My gut tells me that if Elliott is there at #8, the Browns will auction that pick, and move down again...Sashi says they have a target specifically in mind for #8, but I think they can be bought....Or they might just move down because the target is off the board....The deal for Elliott at #8 is probably already in place with Chicago....

Elliott indicated there's no way he gets by Chicago at 11....He thinks they love him, and I think he's right....So in summary; Browns move to #11 if Elliott makes it to #8....

and I still think Browns like Connor Cook....I really hope it's not Hackenberg, like I've heard so much chatter....I just can't really comprehend that at pick #32, given what I have seen the last 2 seasons at Penn St.....

Browns EVP of football operations Sashi Brown said he would not be interested in trading back into the first round to grab a quarterback.

"I don't think we would have to move up from 32 to get any player that we'd be interested in taking," Brown said. "I don't anticipate or plan to move off 32 to go get a quarterback." In full rebuild mode, it makes more sense for the Browns to trade down than up, and they will try their best to move back as much as possible this year. Cleveland is smartly focused on acquiring future assets as they start their reconstruction.

Proof that women are better at estate planning than men.

Joe was a single guy living at home with his father and working in the family business.

When he found out he was going to inherit a fortune when his sick father died, he decided he needed a wife with whom to share his fortune.

One evening at an investment seminar he spotted the most beautiful woman he had ever seen.

Her beauty took his breath away.

?I may look like just an ordinary man,? he said to her, ?but in just a few years, my father will pass, and I?ll inherit his large fortune.?

Impressed, the woman took his business card and three months later, she became Joe?s stepmother.

If my above scenario with Chicago holds true and the Browns move to #11, it really doesn't make it any easier to predict who they might take there.lol!....I can see Lawson, Hargreaves, Floyd, Conklin, Treadwell, or about 5 others that make sense... dare I say Lynch??? Who the hell knows? Gotta love draft day! I'm psyched!

After their finals season at Ohio State, Dick Schafrath and Dick LeBeau were out and about Wheeling, West Virginia, relaxing and celebrating a national championship victory months before.

Little did the pair know they were about to be drafted by the Cleveland Browns and legendary coach Paul Brown.

?So we?re in the car, we?re down there for two-and-half days so we had a ball. They had the draft two days before we ever knew about it,? Schafrath said.

?I called my mom and said I?m out of gas. We?re down here in Wheeling, can you wire me some money. So she did and she says, ?You know, this Paul Brown is calling ? who is he?? Paul Brown? He?s from Cleveland or something, what does he want? She says you better call him and book it home.?

So they did, and Schafrath gave Brown a call.

    The rest is history.

Schafrath, one of the best offensive lineman to play in Cleveland, went on to play in seven Pro Bowls for the Browns and eventually became an Ohio state senator.

When he arrived as a rookie, Schafrath immediately had an impact on the Browns, helping guide the team to the NFL Championship in 1964.

Schafrath ? who played 13 seasons with the Browns and was voted an All-Pro four times ? was something of a fixture at left tackle and was key in paving lanes for legendary running back Jim Brown.

And it all started with an unexpected phone call.

"Four days after Dick and I were drafted by the Browns. When we got home, I called and Paul said you?re one us, boy. Give me a call. We?ll get together when you can find a few minutes," he said.

"So up to Cleveland I came.?

This makes sense to me...I just hope it doesn't mean that they know they don't have to trade up for Blackledge.....er, I mean Hackenberg... I HAVE called him Blackledge at least ten times this week. lol! I'm flashing back to 1983 for some reason....probably because, subliminally, I expect similar results from Hack....Didn't Blackledge get picked ahead of Dan Marino? lol!

    :!

You really are trying to spoil my Lunch aren't you TD :-/

I'd rather take Lynch(not at 22) or wait on Hogan (4th or 5th round) if they want a developmental guy.

    Weeden>>>Cook.

Don't be surprised when the #7 pick is Lynch...unless someone trades up to #5 or #6 and take him before the 49ers go on the clock...

    EDIT:

    I'll take it one further....

After Lynch is gone by #7, Connor Cook will be drafted by the Saints, or the Jets move up to draft him...

THEN...Christian Hackenburg ALSO goes in the first round.

And none of them are in Browns uniforms at the end of the night...

As for the WRs Tim, they have met privately with all the WRs predicted to go in the first round...They also met privately with Jay Lee and Robby Anderson...The one receiver we have been discussing they did not meet with privately is Michael Thomas, but they did attend his pro day.

I really think the plan tonight is to move down the board one more time and draft Laquon Treadwell.

I disagree totally with the Weeden comparison, but if Sashi is serious and the Browns aren't moving from #32, I don't think you'll have to worry about Cook. He'll be gone....for the record though, he's about as pro-ready of a prospect as you'll find. More so than any QB in this draft. I wouldn't call Cook a developmental guy. Word is, he could play right away...But again, I'm not saying this is what I want...Thopugh If the alternative is a Nittany Lion, I'll take Cook in a heartbeat...

    I'll take THAT bet.

If the Browns trade #32 (or other slots after that one) to move back into the first to draft Conner Cook. I owe you a beer.

When they don't - just send cash. I'll buy myself an Old Leg Humper from Thirsty Dog Brewery.

I have a case of beer wrapped up in a bet here. When I collect, I'll deliver your drink in person and we can split 6.

If Sashi had made his statement prior to my prediction, I doubt I would have wagered 12 ounces of the liquid gold, lol.

I'm kind of surprised that there would be a reluctance to move back into the first for a quarterback if the price was affordable. The extra year on the contract would makes sense for any team, especially one looking to rebuild in the draft over the next couple of seasons.
