btw; Stopper was talking about Floyd....I was watching NFL Mock whatever on NFL Ch. last night and draft guru Daniel Jeremiah says that scouts have told him that Floyd could go as high as #5 overall to Jacksonville....

That surprised me a little...I thought he might be a little reach at #8....

It is my thinking that this year's draft is shaping up to be very interesting for Browns fans.

First off: I haven't had the time to delve into the pile of prospects this year so I really don't have any solid opinions on any of them. I was probably leaning towards Goff when QB was still a possibility but wasn't sold enough to pound the table (or make a bet).

Next: Given our new front office structure and make up, I really kind of expect them to do something outside the box. We all have tendencies in our likes and dislikes but these guys have never collectively built a history of what they like or dislike. It would not surprise me one iota for this group to do something that none of pundits, experts or us saw coming.

Thursday night should be, at the very least, entertaining. Saturday and Sunday should end up to be educational.

Watching the Alabama film, that would be HUGE reach...I need to make time to watch his other games..To me, the only thing I see from him is athleticism. I don't see instincts on the field worthy of a top ten pick.

Yeah, I just hope they don't try to get "cute" and outsmart themselves...

I used to get together with some buddies and watch the draft before we all had house full of kids...We haven't gotten together since it went to a Thursday format..we are this year though. This could be a fun night. One is a Cowboys fan, one a Rams fan and 4 of us are Browns fans..

  5. I'm sorry but if these reports are true w love affair of Paxton Lynch...this will b terrible...all the scouts need 2 look at was the bowl game vs Aub and this guy is still considered 2 b a top 10 pick...smh

Good news: Tom Brady's 4 game suspension is reinstated by a federal court..

Bad news: He returns week 5 against the Browns...

  8. One game does not define a college career! I'm not saying he is or he isn't a top ten pick (really haven't had time to look into the draft this year) but, just because the kid had a bad bowl game doesn't mean he's a scrub... it means he had ONE BAD GAME!

  10. When it's the closest team that will even come close 2 resemble NFL speed and athleticism...it should carry a lot of weight...I agree if he played other top notch schools and laid an egg but this was the best he saw and it was abysmal

    *raises hand*

It wouldn't make me vomit blood like if we were to draft Ronnie Stanley, but if it has to be defensive first, we need to go with Shaq Lawson at #8.

  12. Ive seen some people linking the Browns w Conklin...better than Stanley

In either case, that's a soul crushing move to trade out of #2 and only pickup an offensive tackle.

We need to stop sinking so many resources into the line with such diminishing returns. I'd like to see what our current crop can do in a new offensive system and scheme.

And most importantly, I'd like to add a few playmakers to make the season tolerable.

  15. I agree with SAS.... We just got finished with a season that boasted THREE 1st round Offensive Lineman... and a 3-13 record.... it's time for some PLAYMAKERS!

You beat me to the Punch JYD ;)

They need to use the #8 Pick to select the best skill position player available.

    Edit:
    Offense: Treadwell or Elliott
    Defense: Buckner, or Jack

  17. I agree but they lost so much on the OL it may not matter what skill position u draft...they always had finesse style OL...Conklin is a mean aggressive physical player....Mack and Schwartz were both California players that werent physical in their philosophy....I just cant see drafting Zeke w no OL

  18. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

But they still have a lot in the reserves. Joe Thomas is still a very, very good LT (#3 overall), Joel Bitonio is a very good LG (#35 overall), Cam Erving is unproven, but was the top-rated center in last seasons' draft (#19 overall)... really, the only questions marks are on the right side.

Contrast that with the WR, RB, QB, and TE positions that have glaring question marks all over them. And that's just the offensive side of things.

Conklin is actually my favorite, and top-rated, OT prospect in this draft. That said, I'm not going to advocate taking him anywhere in the Top 16 spots.

Again, I like to believe we actually have 3/5ths of our line in place. As far as units go on the team, it's probably the most complete of all of them.

We need playmakers at each and every position and we won't be able to take the top-rated guys every year. If the Browns have a shot at the #1 WR, they need to take it.

Ditto for #1 linebacker or safety.

    Not a RT prospect.

John Grecco's not chopped liver either. He's no All-Pro but is serviceable. The only question marks I see are RT and whether or not Cam lives up to his billing at Center.

  20. I understand what ur saying, but they culdnt run the ball last yr w the guys above and Mack n Schwartz...everybody has their wish list and I respect ur want 4 a playmaker...I just feel this OL this yr will b near the bottom in the league like last yr unless they get some reinforcements
