Georgia had packages for both 3-4 and 4-3...a traditional NFL 3-4 OLB would put his hand in the ground in 4-3 set, Floyd couldn't do that..he became a 4-3 OLB in coverage...and wasn't very good at that either.

He gets a high grade for his athleticism and flexibility..but you are high on highlight films. Instead of just looking at highlights, go watch his game against Alabama and then try to convince yourself he's the 8th best player in this draft. If the Browns chose Floyd over Zeke Elliot, I would claw my own eyes out. Analytics are WAY too smart to just take a list of college 3-4 scheme experienced players and stick a pin in one to be a draft pick...Thank God..

  2. I wasnt implying u didnt know....hes used 2 the system so the learning curve wuldnt b that big of a problem....a reach? Mingo was the reach not Floyd...he has been projected anywhere from 8-13 in almost all mocks

  3. Probably one of my favorite players to watch in the league right now is New England?s Jamie Collins. He?s a big athlete playing linebacker who can do anything ? defend the run, cover, and he?s a big hitter. I think Floyd is going to bring some of the same skill set to the NFL. He ranked second only to Joey Bosa in PFF?s edge defender grades last season. He can play on and off the ball, rush the passer off the edge and drop into coverage when needed. He is a bit long-legged, which hurts him when having to make quick changes-of-direction, but these speed guys like Collins, Ryan Shazier and Floyd just make your defense look completely different with their ability to run inside-out.

You don't have to sell me on him, I said I like Floyd, but for the record, I've seen him mocked anywhere from #8 to #35......Plenty of mocks have him in the mid to late 20's....There are concerns about that thin frame of his...#8 is too early for him IMO. I watched the film from the Alabama game...He was getting steamrolled regularly....

If we stay at #8, I'd much rather go with Hargreaves over Floyd....Then maybe look at Ogbah in the early second ...just a thought.

When I get a chance I will watch his other games...there weren't may on there...But, what I saw against Alabama, he didn't look like a first round pick, let alone a top 15. I certainly don't see him upgrading this defense over Nate Orchard.

Personally, if we can't get Buckner at #8, I want offense with the first two picks. The cupboard is bare on that side of the ball. Then we can spend the other 4 picks in the top 100 on defense if they want.

If not Buckner, then Elliot or trade down with the Dolphins and give them Elliot and take Treadwell at #13.

As long as they don't force anything...a combo of offense and defense with the first two would be fine....Take Elliott at #8 and Spence at #32.....Or Buckner at #8 and trade back into range for Lynch...Plenty of scenarios that I could live with...Personally, I feel they should wait till 3rd round on WR, unless they take Treadwell. They could wind up with Miller, Shepard , Cooper or Peake and I'd be fine with that. Not a great WR draft or offensive draft in general IMO... ....Regardless of who they land, I expect Moneyball to be very active moving up and down the board... Can't wait to see how it unfolds...

  8. #8 Elliott
    #20 Lee...trade back up in 1st...3rd next yr, 2nd 2018 and Mingo
    #32 Spence
    #65 C Jones
    #77 B Miller

Now u have most of the Bucks lol

  9. TopDawg Legend

    I like it SS...

Probably Miller at #65 and Vannett at #77, but I like where you are going with this...

Seriously though, I do think Ohio State ties the record with 6 first rounders...I've got Elliott, Bosa, Lee, Decker, Apple, as sure things...Probably Washington slipping in at the end to tie it....If we are counting Spence in the mix, it's a lock....And I wouldn't completely rule out Braxton Miller....All it takes is one GM to fall in love.

IMHO Thomas goes before Miller and Washington ;)

good catch...I forgot about Thomas....Hell, they might break the record.

I've heard reports that some scouts have Vonn Bell as the top safety in the draft(If you are counting Ramsey as a CB)...So he could sneak in if the reports are accurate.

I meant "blows up" in a good way. Should have said.... imagine he has a great year in his contract year.

  14. TopDawg Legend

I knew what you meant and I can't speak for all, but contract year or not, I wouldn't be aggravated at all if Mingo had a big season....

    I don't know how I didn't catch this earlier...

Are you really suggesting we take the guy who was the Ecstacy ring leader at tOSU, to the point that he was banned..and shed a little dark light on Bosa and Elliot? This coming after the Manziel fiasco and current issue with Josh Gordon...I don't get it...how many red flags do we need?

  16. TopDawg Legend

He's as talented as any pass rusher in the draft, and everything I've read would seem to indicate he has truly turned his life around. He's from a good family. He made some big mistakes, but I get the impression he really realizes what it ALMOST cost him, and he seems genuinely greatfull for the opportunities he has.....I understand the risk , but IMO Spence would be worth it here....We'd be talking about him in the top 10 if not for the red flags....Some of the things I've read have impressed me. I'm not sure the "negative " light you are talking about with Elliott and Bosa...Did they party with him, or something? You'll have to enlighten me...

I've been on the Mingo Train since Horton was named DC. *BRAVO*

Now that he has put on an extra 20lbs of lean muscle I think he'll get the starting nod across from Kruger/Orchard.

Party Drug Rumors, connected to Spence at OSU..

I have some slight worries with Bosa and Elliot, based on Bosa's response and their party destination rumors...but the difference here is Spence tested positive...

I AGREE that he is saying all the right things, and I also agree he most likely has learned a valuable lesson...in saying that, I think other teams will think the same thing and if so, he will be drafted well before we go on the clock at #32..if every team in the first round passes on him, then there is more information than the public is aware of..if THAT is the case, I want the Browns to steer clear.

I am also not real enamored by the fact that instead of JUST owning up to his failed drug test, he through basically the entire Buckeyes team under the bus since there were no names given, implicating that he wasn't the only one using drugs, he was just the only one that tested positive. That doesn't indicate a team player mentality, and this was just a couple of months ago, not something he dealt with and has learned a lesson on.

So, I wouldn't want them drafting him at #32 based on all the information we have to ponder.

#32 MUST be a WR, plain and simple, I don't think I can be any more adamant about how badly this team needs to get playmakers that don't have off the field issues.

On that note, I am getting a big man crush on Josh Doctson the more I see his film and his interviews and his back story in general...This kid is a worker and I think he will be a great draft pick no matter where he ends up...

Man what I wouldn't give to end up with a combination of 2 out of Treadwell/Doctson and/or Fuller/Coleman

I think my ideal right now would be Doctson and Fuller, but I don't think Fuller we be there at #32...so Coleman would be my poor man's version of Fuller.

If I were the Browns and had willing partners, I would trade down with the Dolphins at #13 so they can get Zeke...get their #13 and #73 and #186

Draft either Treadwell or Doctson, which ever Hue Jackson agrees is better...

THEN trade #32 and #73 to the Redskins to move up before the run on WRs happens with the Texans, Vikings and Bengals...and get Will Fuller.

This team would INSTANTLY help whomever is at QB transition to Hue Jackson's offense easier...They would also still have (2) 3rd rounders left to work defense into the equation...

Of you can actually make the same statement if you can get the Titans to throw in a second rounder and their #15 overall...I think you could get one of those two receivers at #15 as well. Personally, I would take either one.

    Interesting....

idk what to think Irish. I attended Ohio State and I worked off campus for several years. In my day, they all (football players) partied....Not sure if it's still as crazy, or crazier or what? I was always surprised more players weren't getting busted....That said, Bosa and Elliott just sounds like typical college behavior to me....Spence went way too far, and he paid the price. Do you think he regrets not winning the NC? He has plenty of regrets... The public embarrassment he had to endure...The shame he brought on his family.....I'm not gonna rip him for those NFL interviews, because I wasn't there and I don't know what was said or implied by either side. I'm sure those things can get intense...

It just depends on the talent level of the individual for me, when it comes to pro sports.....At some point, it becomes worth the risk....Spence becomes worth the risk for me at #32...I wouldn't trade up for him, but I would take him in a heartbeat if he fell to me in the 2nd rd....
