Honestly, I believe in Hue Jackson getting this team ready to play better than any coach since Mangini...So I can see the Browns winning 5 games this year with RGIII/McCown combo. If RGIII stays completely healthy, I could see them winning 7-8 games...

So I don't think they will be in the Fournette sweepstakes...and I think Fournette is the only one of the 3 that are better then Zeke, that's taking the rose colored glasses off. I think Elliot is built much better for the NFL than Cook, which imho, eliminates him from this conversation...Now if you get Zeke this year and feel Cook would upgrade Duke in next year's draft, well you have two first rounders, so you can afford to spend the 2nd rounder on Cook. Cook, however, is good enough to do it on his own and will most likely be snatched up in the high 20s...I would NOT take him in the first round as I believe his body will wear down in the NFL the way he runs. I see him as a Jamaal Charles type, great when healthy, but doesn't contribute at all when on the sidelines.

I like McCaffery also, but as a secondary RB. I don't think he is a 3 down back in the NFL...We have secondary RBs on the roster right now, although he would upgrade any of those currently on the roster, he still doesn't have the right body for playing 16+ games per year in the nfl.

I actually like Chubb better than Cook and McCaffery, but he's already began his injury history, so that also eliminates him from my list of taking one next year instead of Elliot.

For that matter, I like Henry better than McCaffery...

If I knew for CERTAIN, I could get Fournette in 2017, then I would be all over it...but the unknown tells me that if the draft falls that way and Zeke is the BPA, take him and be happy you have the best RB to come out since Trent Richardson (Did I say that out loud)? Puttin aside Richardson's NFL career (or lack thereof), he came out of college looking like the best runner since AP. We all know what happened next, but he was by far the most touted RB to come out in years...

I think Elliot can be what Richardson was supposed to be...I do worry about his off field penchant for parties, especially after just moving on from Manziel...but that could be a worry of any college student leaving school to begin their career.

I agree beach, I believe they will try to trade down, unless one of their top 3 players are left at #8, who ever that may be...and I don't believe EITHER of the QBs were in that top 3. I couldn't even begin to guess who one of the 3 is...but I personally would put it at:

    Buckner
    Bosa
    Tunsil

I just hope the pick isn't another offensive lineman, we need play makers, not play pavers.

Cowboys had the best O-Line in the NFL last year...and it isn't even close...They are picking #4 overall because their QB STILL got hurt playing behind them...

I wouldn't put the Bengals, Patriots, Texans, Redskins, Vikings, Panthers in the top 5 of offensive lines and they were all division winners...the Panthers or Bengals are probably the best line out of that group, but I would say AT LEAST the Cowboys, Broncos, Jets, Cardinals and even your Cleveland Browns had better lines than them in 2015..

Add in the Seahawks, Steelers, Packers and Chiefs, who were also playoff teams without stellar lines and spending so many high draft picks on lineman may be one of the reasons this team is still perennially picking in the top 10 of the draft.

Just a few facts about the current "state" of the Browns and their ability to build the roster...

    1) Signed Robert Griffin, whom Hue (at least publicly) is gushing over
    2) Current Cap available $39,886,741 (according to spotrac)
    3) With the current 12 draft picks, the Browns will have a rookie salary cap hit of approximately $9,622,000, which leaves a cap space of $30,264,741

So that allows us not only 12 pieces to add to the roster, but 6 of those are in the top 100. I would hope to find 4 quality starters out of this draft.

    4) Moving on to 2017, you will have cap carry over
    5) The draft is looking pretty sweet as well:
    First Round: 2 picks
    Second Round: 1 pick
    Third Round: 1 pick
Fourth Round: 3 picks (ALL compensatory picks for Mack, Gipson and Schwartz) (traded 4th round to Philly)
Fifth Round: 2 picks, original and compensatory for Benjamin
    Sixth Round: 1 pick
    Seventh Round: 1 pick

So, 10 picks, 7 of which are in the top 150...I would again, expect 3 quality starters out of this group of 10.

So, we already have a chance to replace 7 starters with quality starters before the 2017 season begins...AND have plenty of salary cap room for some others.

The question is, how many current roster players will improve with an upgraded coaching staff?

This team could be ready to compete as early as next season....IF this front office is capable of finding quality players in the draft.

  6. Not sure how much FSU football u have watched, but Cook is the rare breed of speed, balance, vision and toughness...he played on a bum hamstring almost all yr and still put up those #s.....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CrXPUL5iR1w

Baltimore hasn't had a safety worth a crap in the entire time Elam has been on the team. They've tried him everywhere and he couldn't cover or tackle anywhere. And either way, when you call someone the best safety in the draft you shouldn't have to qualify where he can play.

Nevertheless, my point is stop banging the table as if you're 100% certain your opinion is the only opinion. We all get evaluations wrong. We probably get more wrong than we get right. But you take a superior attitude to guys who have been in football all their lives and crap on every move they make. Give it a rest. Your list of "can't miss" football players from previous years is in some cases just downright awful.

Tim evidently spends a lot of money on his site because all posts are saved!! *BRAVO*

  8. I most definitely wuld go on record...what are u asking??

  9. beachbum Legend Manager Steelers

I get your point but if for some reason Tunsil fell to #8 and they couldn't find a partner to move back I think taking him would be a wise move. Having him on your roster for at least the next 5 years can only be a positive thing.

    Crazy Crex?s Mad Musings: *WRITE*

?Eagles acquire No. 2 overall pick from Browns?

?Trade means Browns' wait for franchise quarterback continues?

?Brown says Browns ?like volume,? which hints at more downward movement?

    *HELP*

I am having visions of 2009 all over again. Dropping from #5 to #21 and only having one player of all those selections pan out. %)

I know that it?s a new year and a totally different and restructured management regime.

Ok deep breath?don?t panic? do a shot? Chug beer? repeat?

IMHO this time around the Browns have much more qualified coaching staff, under the HC. They are taking a completely new approach to this process. So here?s to hoping that the Harvard brain trust and Hue are better at selecting quality players while getting the value they anticipate from those selections. *BYE*

While the biggest question mark for the Browns roster remains at QB, this move gives the powers that be to start putting the building blocks in place. Given it is a 99% chance that both Wentz and Goff go 1-2, (It is hard to believe that the Rams and Iggles would give up that many draft picks for anything less than a QB), I agree that it leaves a multitude of options for the Browns at #8.

My first preference would be Buckner as well, though I think he goes ahead of Bosa. (IMHO I?d stay away from Bosa, reminds me too much of Clowney)

If Myles Jack falls to the #8 it would be hard not to take him, though his knee still concerns me. I still think he goes to either JAX or BAL.

IF, Tunsil is there I could see TEN selling a second rounder to move up and snag him.

How could you not like the Idea of taking Elliott at #8? *SCRATCH* That right there would legitimize the Run game and take pressure off the QB. I?d pull the trigger. Though he may end up in DAL.

Keep up with the positive vibes fellow Houndz. *DRINK*

Go back and read. TD has been begging for you to list your can't miss players as an alternative to just telling everyone who shouldn't be drafted. Give us your Top 10.

  12. Bring em all up tough guy....I guarantee I hit on more right than wrong...Im not 100%, but nobody ever will b...u can bring up the ones where I raved bout L Bell since ur a Pitt die hard...find all those posts

if I had to go OT, I'd pick Jack Conklin....

If Tunsil is so great, how come he never made it through a complete season? I wonder about his toughness...I know he's agile and very athletic, but missing those games is a red flag for me...

  14. Its kind of hard 2 give a top 10 w/out knowing a scheme both offense or defense....example I feel Bosa can play in a 4-3 scheme but not 3-4 so he wuld b in and out of top 10

  15. Possible recruiting violation was the red flag....$$$$$

  16. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

If it's a decision between Tunsil and Elliot, or Tunsil and Hargreaves...I'm not so sure I agree. I would rather have someone that can make plays that matter. Joe Thomas is signed through 2018 at a paltry $10M per year...That's 3 seasons to find and/or groom his replacement. Even if his skill set falls off slightly, he will be one of the best at his position...and you can't hardly get a second tier LT anymore for $10M a year.

  17. This is 4 Beach....I'm going on record that Balt will take either Tunsil or Buckner at #6

  18. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

We're talking top ten regardless of scheme, not at which spot they should/will be drafted. I think Buckner is the best overall player in the draft, I also think Bosa is the second best...but as far as the Browns go, it would be Buckner, then probably Ramsey, Hargreaves and Elliot. I know many of you like Myles Jack, but you must factor in the knee AND the fact he comes from a 4-3 background. Everyone keeps knocking Bosa for that, well, Jack will be dealing with that as well. He is definitely worth a lot more as a 4-3 OLB than a 3-4 ILB...just my thoughts.

  19. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

He also didn't start every game as a freshman, then missed 2 games his sophomore season due to injury, torn bicep.

  20. Right so scheme does matter...I don't see Buckner playing 3 tech in a 4-3 scheme
