You're missing the point stopper..Moneyball might be REALLY pointing to the 8th pick as the highest percentage of obtaining greatest value.....That's what Depodesta does...It's all about the numbers.
I think TDs point is..IN THIS PARTICULAR draft...the 8 spot is a valuable place to be. The last of the high value picks will be there, if of course, you consider Zeke Elliot as one of those high values. Wentz Goff Buckner Bosa Tunsil Ramsey Jack Elliot 8 players, 8 draft spots
Do I really believe that Cleveland intentionally zeroed in on the 8th pick? No, I don't...I do see it as an outstanding spot for Cleveland to be, but I personally feel Sashi was trying to hype up the value of that spot with another trade down in mind.... But I'm just guessing...Maybe these deep thinkers really do want to be at #8 for a specific reason....I figure they are there because that happens to be where they found a trade partner, but Sashi absolutely was implying yesterday that there was more to it than simply that....Gotta love draft season. Who knows?
Agree w a lot of above but I think if the draft goes in no particular order Goff, Wentz, Tunsil, Ramsey, Bosa, Buckner and Jack the Browns really can't want Elliott or even Elliott and Jack on the board which is a risky pick...who knows 2 b honest
You're right Stopper (for once, you're actually right).... Teams don't go into the draft saying they wish they had the 8th pick, they say they wish we had the 32nd pick!
Jack is an obvious risk because of the knee, but honestly, I know I'm biased, but I see no risk at all if they go with Eze E....In fact from a pure football talent standpoint, you could argue Elliott as #1 overall... I'm sort of hoping the "numbers" do point to selecting Elliott....To me it seems more and more like a real possibility.....
I have 2 disagree some...thats not an urgent position of need....there r a lot of bigger needs than RB this yr
IF the Browns continue to draft for need, Stopper will have more ammunition than he can use for the foreseeable future. If Zeke is the best player available at pick #8, then the Browns should draft him regardless of who the current running backs are. That holds true no matter who the Browns feel is the best player left on the board for every pick.
I do agree with you here, honestly. While the homer in me really wants Elliot, the fact remains the right system can turn any good RB into a great one, and any great running back into a mediocre one.. I REALLY want Buckner there at #8, if he is gone, which I think he will be...My hope is that either Tunsil is there and the Titans want him bad enough to give up the 2nd rounder they got from the Rams..or with Elliot there, the Dolphins want him bad enough to do something like: Dolphins receive: #8 Elliot Browns receive: #13 Laquon Treadwell/Ronnie Stanley/Darren Lee/Eli Apple #73 #186 Or...Vernon Hargreaves III would also be a big improvement as well...There are a lot of choices at #8
Might not be "urgent" need, but certainly would be huge upgrade....He is the kind of player you can build around....Kurt Warner always talks about how his transition to the NFL was so much easier because he had Mr "do it all" Marshall Faulk in the backfield with him....I know we have plenty of needs, but looking at our RB depth chart, I don't know how you can rule out Elliott...Especially at #8.
Buckner makes way more sense than Elliott....it fills a need as a DE in a 3-4 scheme...like u said I think SF takes him at 7 unless Tunsil is gone then Balt will scoop him up
Let me ask u these questions....where do u see the Browns picking next yr? Do u think Zeke is better than Cook, McCaffrey or Fournette? I think all 3 are better and the Browns shuld have a chance 2 pick one of them
My boy Conklin shooting up draft boards...gonna b a player...way better than Stanley and a notch below Tunsil
Most are saying Zeke is the best RB to come out since AP back in 07....You trying to say there are 3 of them coming out next year that are BETTER??? I'm gonna have to disagree....
No doubt in my mind all 3 are better....their freaks and 3 down backs...if healthy they will finish 1,2,3 in the Heisman
Stopper isn't gonna go on record cause he knows it will undermine him in future discussions. "Matt Elam best safety in the draft" - said about 25x.
If you aren't in the Top 5 I think 11 would be the ideal spot because of how the 5th year options work. If they are truly money-balling the draft I would expect them to try and end up between 11-15 based on future cap considerations.
I'm not sure 25x but he is a really good safety...Balt tried playing him against his strength which is near the box
