That's why I said I assume it was about JT. And any Browns fan ever? How about only a few months ago going back forever. Seriously though didn't someone on here back him up only a few days ago?
Well yeah, there was a time when you could find an occasional Browns fan that spoke well of Johnny.....Though I haven't heard ANYTHING positive about him since we first heard of our boy "Billy" out in Vegas texting pics of his dog to the world....smh I was among his last few supporters probably....Quite honestly, there weren't many here to begin with...The notorious money signs and arogance did him no favors with the Browns fan base. He had to prove himself in Cleveland, which he obviously failed miserably at.... ......and the search continues.
Do you understand the relationship between a LT and a QB? It's both physical and mental and has a direct impact on the success of the QB. If you're starting a rebuild developing a QB is an important part. Protecting your QB is an important part. No one on the offensive side of the ball will develop if you're down to your 4th QB by Week 6.
Yes I understand...Pitt took an undersized guard and made him their LT 2 protect their HoF QB so what r u trying 2 say..go draft a guy that u think can get the job done
[h]HAPPY MONDAY LOUNGE HOUNDZ *HI* *DRINK* [/h] Crazy Crex's Free Agency / Pre-Draft Round up: *SCRATCH* *WRITE* Well here we are again fellow lounge Houndz, another year, another reset of the front office, another new HC, another roster purge and reset, basically it is 1999 all over again, without the excitement or anticipation. Front Office Notes: Right now the Jury is still out on how the revamped front office and their new way of doing business, will it work? Can they build a championship roster or will the fans continue to feel like its groundhog day all over again? *HELP* Coaching Staff: So far so good. I like the Hue Jackson signing, and feel like he?s assembled a solid and knowledgeable staff. It will be interesting to see how well they can prepare the players for game day. *SHADES* FA Losses: I can?t say that losing Benjamin is that much of a loss talent wise. Until they signed RGIII there wasn?t a QB that could really take advantage of his speed over the top and go deep. Most of his big games were when Billy M was under center. Plus IMHO SD overpaid for his services. $6mil/yr. Gipson is a slightly bigger hit to the roster depth. Though he?s not been 100% healthy every year and JAX probably overpaid him as well. $7+mil/yr. It was obvious that Mack wanted out. The Browns made him a slightly better than market offer and he followed Shanahan to ATL. IMHO Losing Schwartz is the biggest hit to the roster. He has gotten better each year and played well in his contract year. The Browns again made a better than market offer to retain Schwartz, and when he decided he wanted to test the FA market, they turned to other options. By not leaving the offer open the Browns FO basically told the NFL world that they were not going to let players and their agents use other offers as leverage against them. A hard line to take, let?s hope it pays dividends in the future. Losing Robertson and Dansby left a hole in the middle of the front seven, IMHO not that detrimental to the defense as a whole. The Browns needed to upgrade there anyway. FA Signings: Alvin Bailey OT: Schwartz?s replacement? Not sure how to feel about this guy. Demario ILB and Tuggle OLB: Lost two LBs and Signed two LBs. Still a Major position of need. Moor FS: Head scratcher for sure. *SCRATCH* IMHO the Browns got a bit worse at this position. RGIII: Biggest position of need and the Browns signed the best back-up they could get, and at a good value. IMHO the jury is going to be out a while on whether or not he can be a starting QB long term, (hopefully he has his head screwed on straight, unlike the guy he replaced). I can?t say that I like it, but I don?t despise it either. Can he go back to being the RGIII from his rookie season, or will he always be a former shell of that player. In any case it should allow Hue to begin grooming his QB of the future. I hope. Overall the FA period didn?t wow much at all, and in some cases fell flat on its face. No real roster improvements and didn?t change any draft needs. I think TD is on the mark that the FO is trying to stockpile picks for next year. Schwartz, and Mack will probably net 3rd round comp picks. Anything less than 4th for either would be robbery on the part of the NFL.
Not when he was a rookie. They had a veteran LT, LG, C. He never had to worry about his blindside. Yes, they've gone cheap recently but they don't have a QB they are trying to develop.
Good read, crex! As for the compensatory picks... we're looking at three fours and a five now. Given the amount of money that was flying around this offseason, that sounds about right. http://overthecap.com/draft
Great....We only get to see him twice this year... I sure hope this group of analysts knows what they are doing..
Well, you can forget about him playing strong safety. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.co...us-mingo-has-gained-20-pounds-this-offseason/
been out of it for a couple days. Glad to see I was able to fuel some discussion, and of course I was talking about Johnny, I mean Joe. Being accused of wanting Joe out is inaccurate, just looking at the larger picture. As Stopper pointed out, we're rebuilding, and perhaps Joe's greatest contribution to the team is in who we can get by letting him go. No we will not have a pro bowl LT, but if he could bring us a couple pieces for the future Browns, it's worth considering. That aside. Is McCown being shopped? I have heard that in talking with some of the locals here. Any news on that?
Obviously I dont know 100%, but I wuld b very hard pressed 2 believe he played at 240 lbs last yr and is now at 260 lbs....if so steroids??
Here are a couple of guys that are 6'4" 240lbs And you're telling me you can't believe this guy weighs 240lb? Now, add in the fact that 240 IS lean on a 240lb frame, adding 20lbs would not be much of a leap. All you would really need to do is increase your calorie intake. Hell, I'm 5'8" and I put on 22 lbs in the months of December and January and believe me, I WASN'T trying to...It's taken me February and now March to lose 7 of those 22... If he has truly gotten to 260, I would say he still needs another 5 lbs to maintain that 260 through training camp. It's easier to keep that weight on when you aren't training quite as hard.
Yes that pic doesnt look like a 240 lb player...also its very hard 4 him 2 put on 20 lbs of lean muscle in such a short amount of time...even if he started working out in Jan. right when the season ended...that's a little more than 2 months worth which is a substantial weight gain w/out some type of enhancement
It doesn't have to be 20lbs of lean muscle...Safeties NEED lean muscle, OLBers can utilize the lean muscle underneath a layer of healthy fat tissue. Instead of eating 2500 calories a day, he instills a 3000 calorie a day diet adding in fat induced products into his normal diet. It isn't rocket science. The workouts will burn out most of the byproduct, but leave fatty cells that will add weight. You don't think linemen add 50 lbs of "lean muscle" to become 300 lb players, do you? It is a means to an end. Playing with layers of fat, without actually being fat is a common core practice at that level..I would think you understand that more than most of us, being a coach.
In that amount of time it cant b good weight and Im going on the assumption he didnt weigh 240 lbs to begin w last yr
You could be right, last year's regime also wanted him to put on weight, so it may have been closer to 245 lbs...
I actually believe the OLBers will be Orchard and Kruger, Mingo will just be a rotational guy. But he needs to be more effective when rotating in and that means more mass.
