BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns have changed the look of Family Night in order to make for a more fan-friendly experience. BEREA, Ohio -- The Cleveland Browns will host their annual Family Night practice at FirstEnergy Stadium this Saturday night, but it will look different than in years past. In an effort to improve the fan experience, the Browns will open up Alfred Lerner Way at 4:30 p.m., for family-friendly activities. Games, music and inflatables will be there for the fans to enjoy, as will The Radio Disney Road Crew, and the Duncan Yo-Yo Professionals, who will put on a special performance for the fans. The gates at FirstEnergy Stadium open up for this free, non-ticketed event at 5:30 p.m., and practice follows at 6:30. Following practice, there will be a full-team autograph session, as well as a Laser and Firework Show at 9:30. ?We?re hoping that a lot of things look different this year,? said Browns president Alec Scheiner. ?Family Night will be a lot of fun. We?re going to have a lot of family activities, fun zones for kids. ?It?s really nice to be able to give people access to the organization, no matter what. We have training camp, and training camp?s free. On Family Night, anyone can come in. If you love Browns football, there?s various ways to get exposure to it.? Scheiner promises the Laser and Firework show will be different than any the Browns have previously done. ?Probably the thing that?s most important is after the autograph session,? Scheiner said. ?We?ve never done that level of pyrotechnics and lasers that we?ll have, so it should be pretty cool for the fans. We haven?t done this level of show before, especially the laser part of the show, and we think it?ll be pretty interesting.? If you are a Cleveland Browns PNC Bank Debit Card holder, you can gain early access to Family Night by showing your card at the Southwest Gate of FirstEnergy Stadium. Each Cleveland Browns PNC Bank Debit Card will allow five (5) people in as early as 4:30pm.

BEREA, Ohio -- Cleveland Browns fans took just 28 minutes to sell out the home opener against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, Sept. 8. BEREA, Ohio -- Twenty-eight minutes. That is all it took for the Cleveland Browns? fans to sell out the single-game tickets for the team?s home opener against the Miami Dolphins at FirstEnergy Stadium on Sunday, Sept. 8. The game against Miami will mark the 14th time in the last 15 seasons that the Browns will open the regular season at home. ?It?s a great feeling,? said Browns president Alec Scheiner. ?I think it says just so much about our fans that it sold out so quickly. Pittsburgh, later in the day, sold out of single-game tickets. We?ve still got single-game tickets available for the other games. Some are getting tighter than others, and we still have some season tickets left to sell.? Later in the day, the Browns? home game against the Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday, Nov. 24, also sold out of single-game tickets. ?I love these rivalries,? Scheiner said. ?I grew up with these rivalries in a different division, and there?s nothing that I respect more than a rivalry like this. I?m excited for our first game against Pittsburgh.? The Browns have single-game tickets available for six more regular-season games, including Sept. 29 against the Cincinnati Bengals, Oct. 13 against the Detroit Lions, Nov. 3 against the Baltimore Ravens, Dec. 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and Dec. 15 against the Chicago Bears, as well as the NFL Network?s Thursday Night Football game against the Buffalo Bills on Oct. 3. ?This is our first, my first prime-time game with the Cleveland Browns, but we hope it?s the first of many,? Scheiner said. ?I can tell you this, being with the Dallas Cowboys, these games are a great experience for the fans, for the city. It?s just a totally different energy, really exciting.? By Fred Greetham OBR Senior Browns Reporter Posted Aug 1, 2013 NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was in Berea Thursday, talking football safety, Haslam, Browns. 1 Comment BEREA, Ohio -- NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell was in Berea as part of the Heads Up youth football program promoting Pop Warner football and to make the game safer. Goodell met with the media for a about six minutes and addressed a number of questions, mostly surrounding the ownership of Jimmy Haslam and the criminal investigation into his company Pilot Flying J. Here are some of the topics covered: Q: What can you tell the fans of the Browns regarding the investigation at Pilot Flying J and how it affects Jimmy Haslam?: Goodell: "Jimmy Haslam is a man of great integrity. We're proud to have him as an owner in the NFL. We think he's going to be a great owner for the Cleveland Browns and the fans here. He's as disappointed as anybody as to what happened at Pilot Flying J and he's working hard to fix it and correct those issues both from a structural standpoint and to make amends. He's kept me very much involved. He tells me I was one of the first to inform once he learned about it and he's been great at keeping us informed." Q: How have you stay informed on the subject?: Goodell: "Just an update, mostly, what's happening. What he's doing and to make sure he addresses the situation from a satisfactory standpoint. He doesn't need any pushing. He's a man who this company means a lot to him and his family. Obviosuly, he's not happy about what's happened and he's determined to fix it." Q: How do you look at the process now?: Goodell: "Right now, this is an issue where he's had some people in his organization obviously, not conduct themselves in ways consistent with what he wants. He's fixing it and he's got to do that. Those things happen in big organizations. Jimmy is more disappointed than anybody, but I don't think it's a matter for us at the moment." Q: What would happen if Haslam is indicted or convicted?: Goodell:"We're not going to play the hypothetical. Right now, he's addressed the issues and we're confident he's going to deal with it properly." Q: Was this something that could have been discovered in the vetting process of him becoming an owner?: Goodell: "No, I don't think (so). This was a surprise to him and to his senior level management. From that standpoint, I don't think he was aware of it or anyone else and I don't know how we could be aware of it. That was not disclosed to us." Q: Are you happy with the way Haslam has kept you informed?: Goodell: "He's been very proactive. He's made numerous statements about it and he's taken responsibility for it. he's spoken up and as i've said before, he's a man of integrity and his company has meant a lot to him and his family. He's more determined than ever to make it right." Q: Was the vetting process any less since Haslam was already the part owner of the Steelers?: Goodell: "No. We go through the same process in any circumstance. When you're going through a controlling ownership process that's a big step up and we just don't pass that off. We do the same vetting process. Obviously, he knows people in the league after being an owner so there were certain aspects of it that which were easier, but we didn't short circuit anything." Q: How important are the Browns to the NFL?: Goodell: "The Cleveland Browns are an important part of the NFL, probably no one knows that more than I do from my experience here. When Jimmy Haslam came into this, he came into this with a mindset to get this franchise turned around in a positive direction and have a team that the community would be proud of and not just in any single year, but consistently and create a winner. He's brought in great talent. He's brought in great talent and set the organization obviously in a different direction. I think that's all positive and good for the fans here and ultimately good for the NFL." Q: Are you concerned the Browns will be distracted this season?: Goodell: "I don't believe it's distracting anybody in that building because none of that matters at the end of the day. Jimmy is focusing on that and he's hired a lot of great people he's hired to do that job. He always intended to stay at Pilot Flying J." Q: Are you concerned that Haslam's first year of ownership has gotten off to a rocky start?: Goodell: "You never want to see this kind of thing happen, particularly to a partner in the league. Obviously, his partners care a great deal about him and as partners they want to see him getting off to a good start. This is not what anybody intended or anybody anticipated but he's a man that I think is truly respected in the NFL." Q: Are you as optimistic about a positive outcome for Haslam?: Goodell: "Most of my reports are coming from Jimmy. He does shares that with me also. I have every reason to believe him." Q: Did you ask him if he knew about the fraud?: Goodell:"Yes, absolutely and he's been very clear that he didn't have that knowledge." Q: Does the league hold the owners accountable, similarly as the players?: Goodell: "We actually hold ownership to a higher standard and management. I think we've proven that in what we've done. It's not just accused as you know, we often let the criminal process unfold because you need to do that. You need to get all the facts. Sometimes, that's a real focus for us."
Not taking training camp seriously Here we go. It?s starting already. It?s been just a few days since training camp opened for the Browns and the microscopes have been hauled out. In this need-to-know-now world we live in, immediacy is paramount. It is essential to keep everyone up to date, seemingly by the minute, in this camp with quarterback Brandon Weeden squarely in the crosshairs. The tweets are flying. Brandon Weeden has a pass knocked down at the line of scrimmage. Brandon Weeden is intercepted in the end zone. Brandon Weeden looks awkward while running a naked bootleg. Can?t he do anything right? Apparently not. Not, that is, yet. Meanwhile, his competition for the starting job flourishes. Jason Campbell makes a great pass to Jordan Norwood for a 37-yard TD pass. How exciting (sarcasm intended). Can?t wait for ?Brandon Weeden displays a nice touch with a touchdown throw in the end zone.? This camp has become one gigantic Brandon Weeden Show, starring Brandon Weeden, co-starring Brandon Weeden and Brandon Weeden with a guest appearance by Brandon Weeden. Give the guy a break. In the dizzying world of the Twitterverse, the news must be disseminated NOW. Doesn?t make us any smarter or more knowledgeable. Just makes us more immediately informed. Practically every move by the players is being scrutinized by the media and fans. Unfortunately, they are being taken seriously. The first exhibition game is 10 days away for goodness sakes. Even then, the four practice games should not be taken too seriously. What the players are going through in the early stages of camp is relatively meaningless. It?s more of a familiarization with brand new systems on both sides of the ball. It takes time. Mistakes are going to be made. That?s inevitable. Football is a game is mistakes. The team that makes the fewest usually wins. Some coaches believe that how you practice is how you?ll play. Other coaches know better. It?s nothing more than a philosophical difference. I?ve seen lazy, terrible practice players show up on Sundays and play well, making solid contributions. Conversely, I?ve seen great practice players show up on Sundays. That?s it. They showed up. It?s OK to report who is injured or not participating. But c?mon, let?s not give this blow-by-blow stuff much credence. So Greg Little drops a pass. Big deal. Doesn?t mean he?ll drop a similar pass in the regular season. You know . . . in a game that counts. Rookie linebacker Barkevious Mingo is looking good. Seems to making the transition from defensive end smoothly. That?s nice to know. Let?s wait and see what he can do when the player across from him is wearing a different uniform. And Jabaal Sheard?s similar transition has received some high marks. We?ll see how well that translates when he?s asked to drop into pass coverage in the home opener Sept. 8 at what used to be called Cleveland Browns Stadium (I can?t wrap my head around that other name yet). That?s when I?ll begin to take seriously just what kind of a team Rob Chudzinski has in his rookie season. Posted by Rich Passan at 4:55 PM 2 comments:
Montario Hardesty (hamstring) has resumed practicing at Browns camp. Hardesty only missed a few practices, but it's a reminder of his complete lack of durability dating back to Tennessee. He's not assured of a 53-man spot.
Browns WR David Nelson has experienced lingering knee pain in training camp. It's a bad sign for a player nearly 11 months removed from an ACL tear. If Nelson can't get over the hump, the Browns will open the year thin at wideout with Josh Gordon on suspension. Greg Little would be the No. 1 wideout, with Davone Bess in the slot and Travis Benjamin papering over Gordon's "X" position.
TGIF LOUNGE HOUNDZ *DANCE* R U READY FOR SUM FOOTBALL *YAHOO* DUFF?. Kool-Aids all around *DRINK* YO TD you and Irish got that bandwagon tuned up yet *HI* *YES* I like the way the front seven is shaping up for the Defense. I still have some concerns about the secondary. I certainly hope that Horton can find guys to fill out the secondary and make the D top notch. *THUMBSUP* I do have some concerns about the WR/TE. Will we have enough depth to make it through the season. With Gordon suspended and nursing a knee injury, as well as Nelson?s knee still bugging him. Can the young unproven guys step in and git-r-done. *HELP* I think that the Browns will surprise teams this year. > Can a fellow Brownie get a WOOF! *WASSUP*
Im not sure how u dont have concerns w the front 7.....Rubin playing a different position and Bryant isnt well known......the LB's need to b stellar in a 3-4 and I dont see that w this group.....DQ is best suited in a 4-3 and Sheard has never played OLB....Kruger is a specialist and the other ILB is a young kid from N Texas....I wuld b concerned w that group
WOOF!!! WOOF!! Really Stopper? You have something negative to say about the Browns?!? GASP?!?! Persaonlly, I think the Line is the strength of the D, Taylor, Rubin, Bryant, Winn, Hughes - They got size, talent and depth, not a concern at all!!! Also, they should all command a decent amount of double teams freeing up the LB's, I've got a good feeling about the D this year!! The biggest issue I have with the LB core is a lack of Depth, DQ is a beast! Kruger proved he can play... From all accounts I've heard Sheard has taken to OLB like a fish to water, and Mingo, he's an unknown, but Horton will bring him along slowly, won't really know until the pads start poppin'! But I have to agree with Crex... The front seven is not a concern IMHO.... The Secondary scares the crap outta me tho, Haden is a beast, and Ward is a pretty damn good (and under rated) SS, my fears lie in the other CB's and the Free Safety position!!!
Faith Hill is still SMOKING :-* ..yup id " tap that " front 7 is not concern .i agree with JYD with the back half other than Haden . if the fron 7 doesent get to the QB there maybe problems . i am amped for this season . looking at a 500 record with bright future ahead for us all . they will win some games they shouldn't . they will stay in the WC hunt at least through December IMHO . I will take it . future looks bright
Actually JYD I'm not concerend about the depth at OLB, maybe ILB, but the young guys next to DQ played fairly well last year. HANGS sign on Chair... GONE RACING.... Sprints 2night.... One more before I go.... *DRINK* *DRINK* ok 2
Lucky you Crex ..Limaland just cancelled for the night ..&^$# rain ..bar stool bound instead . would rather be racing
I wuldnt say its negative but moreso reality....this is a new def for everyone except DQ and Kruger and he wasnt an every down player in Balt....Sheard has never played this position and we all know DQ didnt play his best ball in a 3-4 when Mangini was here.
So I have a question, since it seems we have a great Browns presence on this site, why is there no CCC for the browns?
Observations, notes, quotes and some facts on Day 8 of Browns training camp ? * Running back Trent Richardson took it on the shin again. Yes, that shin ? the one that kept him out of OTAs and minicamp in June. Richardson took a kick to the shin in Thursday?s practice and was held out Friday. Richardson said he was told he would be kept out of Saturday?s Family Night practice in FirstEnergy Stadium. Sunday is an off day, so he expects to be back on Monday. ?Ain?t no problem? Richardson said. ?Just coach letting me get a little rest, saying I?ve been running a lot lately. I was kind of upset, fighting with coach a little bit for me to practice. He was just resting me. You know, it?s August. There ain?t nothing wrong. I?ll be back out here when he lets me back out here.? Coach Rob Chudzinski and Richardson both said he would have played in a game. ?It?s part of the plan we have for him to continue to keep him healthy and get him ready for the season,? Chudzinski said. Richardson did not play in any preseason games as a rookie because he was recovering from an arthroscopic cleanup procedure on a knee. He vows to play in the preseason opener against the St. Louis Rams on Thursday ? and all other preseason games this summer. ?I?m playing all of ?em,? Richardson said. ?Every game this year. That?s my word and that?s my goal.? * It was a veritable who?s who of visitors at practice on Friday, including ? are you ready for this? ? former club president Mike Holmgren. Yes, the Big Show was a surprise visitor, donning black silk shirt, shorts and flip-flops. He didn?t care to be interviewed much, but told media he was in town to honor good friend Bill Parcells? induction into the Pro Football Hall of Fame Saturday night. Holmgren chatted on the field with owner Jimmy Haslam, CEO Joe Banner and several other employees. Richardson, in particular, was ecstatic to see Holmgren. ?It (means) a lot when I see old Holmgren,? Richardson said. ?He gave me a shot that nobody took on me. They jumped up one spot (from No. 4 to No. 3 to draft him in 2012). There?s a lot between me and him. There?s nothing but much love because he changed my life, changed my family life. That opportunity, I have to give him a lot of praise for that.? Other notable visitors were CBS announcer Jim Nantz, NFLPA Executive Director DeMaurice Smith, and former Browns Michael Dean Perry, Eric Metcalf and Roman Oben. Also, NFL referee Ed Hochuli ? he of the bouncing biceps ? officiated the practice with a skeletal crew. * I tried to talk Chudzinski into putting together a live team period to give fans something to look forward to at Family Night practice Saturday. But he would have none of it. ?We?re gonna treat it like a regular practice (with full pads),? the coach said. ?The plan is the plan. We have some things we need to get installed and that?s the priority. We?ll get plenty of good work done. Our guys will be excited and fired up. The fans will get a good show.? Gates open in FirstEnergy Stadium at 5:30 p.m. Admission is free. Practice is from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. A fireworks and laser light show will follow. * Nose tackle Phil Taylor and center Alex Mack had a brief shoving match in one-on-one blocking drills. Coaches and players broke it up before tempers overheated. ?It?s practice,? Taylor snorted, when asked about it. ?Just practice.? Chudzinski said, ?It?s the middle of training camp. You get tired going against each other every day. They?ve had a good competition. That makes everybody better. Those two guys have been going at it. We?re hoping they?re going to be outstanding players for us.? * With Shayne Graham getting a day of rest, Brandon Bogotay attempted all field goals after two-minute drills and made three of four. He missed wide left from 41 yards. * Not practicing were running back Montario Hardesty (hamstring tendon), fullback Brad Smelley (hamstring), cornerback Trevin Wade (tightness) and receiver David Nelson (knee).
