Cleveland Browns wide receiver Josh Gordon "sincerely" apologized for his suspension earlier this month, but the two-game ban apparently has not served as a wake-up call.

A source told ESPNCleveland.com's Tony Grossi that Gordon has been partying in South Beach, running with a "different crowd" and being "influenced by the wrong people" since the end of the 2012 NFL season.

    Brooks: Why Browns will soar
People are used to expecting little from the Browns, but Bucky Brooks says their offense is poised to surprise. More ...
Gordon also has displayed immaturity and poor judgment in waging a Twitter war with Cleveland fans over his support for LeBron James and the Miami Heat during the NBA playoffs.

Gordon's bumpy offseason led Terry Pluto of The Plain Dealer to reveal that Browns executives had told him they were concerned about the "entitlement mentality" of some of their players.

Part of the problem is that the game comes too easily for Gordon, who possesses a legit No. 1 wide receiver skill set. Last year's coaching staff was less than thrilled with Gordon's lackadaisical approach in training camp, and CEO Joe Banner called Gordon out in March.

Former Denver Broncos tight end Nate Jackson once estimated that there were 100,000 people in the world who are physically talented enough to play football in the NFL, but most don't have what it takes mentally. Even the gifted players wash out of the league if the light never flips on. Gordon's case has an extra layer of intrigue because the Browns' new vice president of player personnel, Michael Lombardi, labeled him a "waste" of a supplemental draft pick last summer.

After studying each of Brandon Weeden's rookie-year throws, ESPN's Ron Jaworski came away "impressed" and believes Weeden "will be a rock-solid NFL starter in Norv Turner's offense."
Weeden's pocket presence was a question mark coming out of Oklahoma State, but Jaws observed on tape that, "For a rookie, Weeden showed uncommon poise and calm in the pocket" with "consistently solid" mechanics. Jaworski was also impressed with Weeden's "ability to sit on his back foot and drive the ball with velocity." Added Jaws, "There's no question in my mind that his throwing skill set and Turner's quarterback-friendly system will mesh effectively." Weeden has deep-sleeper QB2 appeal under QB gurus Turner and Rob Chudzinski.

The Cleveland Browns are looking into possible major changes to their uniform for the 2015 season but they are making one adjustment for this year.

According to Tony Grossi of ESPNCleveland.com, the ?AL? patch worn by the Cleveland Browns since 2002 will no longer be a part of the team?s uniforms, beginning this season.

The patch on their sleeve was to honor former team owner Al Lerner after his death in October 2002.

Lerner was responsible for bringing the Browns back to Cleveland as an expansion franchise in 1999. With Jimmy Haslam purchasing the team from the Lerner family last season, he had agreed to keep the patch on the uniforms for the remainder of the year.

The Browns officially kick off their first training camp under Rob Chudzinski and staff on Thursday July 25. We will break down each position in the weeks leading up to the start of camp with the players currently on the roster. The first position we take a look at is the quarterback position.

Quarterbacks ? Brandon Weeden, Jason Campbell and Brian Hoyer

The quarterback position has been almost completely revamped under the Joe Banner/Mike Lombardi regime. First, Colt McCoy was jettisoned to the 49ers in a trade and then Thaddeus Lewis was released after the signing of Hoyer. Campbell joined the Browns as an unrestricted free agent. The only returning quarterback to the Browns this season is the incumbent starter in Weeden.

Weeden (6-3, 220, 29, 2nd year) ? Weeden is going to be given every opportunity to succeed in the Chudzinski/Norv Turner offensive system. Derek Anderson turned in a surprised Pro Bowl season in 2007 when Chudzinski was the Browns offensive coordinator.

Weeden could arguably have a better supporting cast than Anderson did that season with the emergence of the running game led by Trent Richardson and the receiving corps with Greg Little, Josh Gordon, Travis Benjamin, Davone Bess, David Nelson and a strong offensive line. Kellen Winslow had a big year at tight end in 2007 and it?s unclear if the trio of Jordan Cameron, Gary Barnidge and Kellen Davis will be able to produce as much as Winslow did. But all considered, Weeden does have weapons at his disposal.

Weeden started in all 15 games that he played in as a rookie and passed for 3,385 yards on 297-of-517 passes attempted (57.4 pct.) with 14 touchdowns and 17 interceptions. His QB rating was 72.6. His yardage totals were the most by a Browns rookie in the team?s history.

Weeden has been ecstatic about playing in the vertical passing offense that the Browns are using and it appears the coaching staff will play to his strengths employing more use of the shotgun formation.

Chudzinski offered his assessment on Weeden at the conclusion of minicamp.

?I think Brandon has done a nice job, to this point,? Chudzinski said. ?Everything we?ve asked him to do. Certainly, it hasn?t been perfect, but having to adjust to Norv (Turner) yelling at him and making the adjustments and corrections, you?ve seen progress.?

Lombardi wasn?t high on Weeden while he was an NFL analyst on NFL Network, but it is believed that Chudzinski and Turner saw enough potential in the second-year quarterback to persuade the front office to give him another shot in 2013.

Campbell (6-5, 230, 31, 9th year) - In his career, Campbell has started and he has been a backup, starting 71 of his career 77 games. He has played in the system that Turner is running with the Browns. He is also described as a player who doesn?t need many reps in practice, but can still step in and be productive.

Campbell was a first-round draft choice of the Redskins (25th overall) in the 2005 NFL Draft from Auburn. He has completed 1,328 of 2,182 career passes (60.9%) for 14,682 yards with 76 touchdowns, 52 interceptions and an 82.5 passer rating. Campbell has a plus-24 touchdown-interception ratio, and his 2.4 career interception percentage is tied for eighth-best in the NFL since 2005.

Campbell?s best season was his last season in Washington when he was 327-of-507 for 3,618 yards with 20 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. His rating was 86.4.

In the first five years of his career (2005-09) with the Redskins, he was one of four quarterbacks in franchise history to throw for 3,000 yards in back-to-back seasons (3,245 in 2008 and 3,618 in 2009). He became the franchise leader in career completion percentage (61.2) and his passer rating of 82.3 was second-best in Redskins annals. He also established a team record with a streak of 271 consecutive passes without an interception, spanning from 2007-08, which was the fifth-longest streak ever in the NFL at the time.

Campbell was traded to Oakland prior to the 2010 season and spent two years with the Raiders. In those two seasons, he started 18 of his 19 contests and threw for 3,557 yards with 19 touchdowns. In 2011, he opened the first six contests and led Oakland to a 4-2 record before a broken collarbone against the Browns ended his season.

Campbell has been what the Browns expected when they signed him as an unrestricted free agent.

?I am pleased with Jason,? Chudzinski said. ?He is everything we had hoped for from a leadership standpoint and a guy that can come in and doesn?t need every single rep in practice. He?s been in the system before and he understands what he?s doing.?

Hoyer (6-2, 215, 27, 5th year) - Hoyer spent his first three seasons in the NFL backing up Tom Brady in New England. After being released in training camp in 2012, Hoyer sat out most of last season before signing with the Steelers. After being released by the Steelers he was immediately picked up by the Cardinals and he started his first NFL game in the season finale against the 49ers. He was 19-of-34 for 225 yards with a touchdown and an interception in a 27-13 loss. He was 30-of-53 for 330 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions on the season.

In his first four NFL seasons, Hoyer has appeared in just 15 games completing 57-of-96 passes for 616 yards with two touchdowns and three interceptions and a rating of 72.2.

Lombardi has been high on Hoyer from his days with the Patriots and he could be in the mix for playing time should Weeden and Campbell falter.

Chudzinski has been happy with the way Hoyer has picked up the offense since arriving.

?Brian coming in late and in a short time and he has a real good fee,? Chudzinski said. ?He?s been around and has been in a number of systems and knows what we?re trying to get done. I like the direction of this group. We?ve got a ways to go but we?re on the right track.?

Summary: The 2013 season is about Weeden and it is his chance to prove he can be the Browns quarterback for the next few seasons. He will turn 30 in October and he is now in a system that appears to play to his strengths. He has weapons behind a strong offensive line with a potentially strong running game. Five times a running back in Turner?s offense has won the NFL rushing title. The receiving corps should be much more productive with the experience of the young receivers and the addition of a couple of veterans.

Chudzinski is very impressed with the group of quarterbacks the Browns have.

?That group, overall, is one of the best groups I?ve been around in terms of chemistry and helping each other out and it?s really good,? Chudzinski said. ?There?s a really good vibe in that room.?

Chudzinski has not named Weeden the starting quarterback, rather choosing to make him earn the position. He said ultimately who will be under center when the regular season begins, will be based on production.

?I think all of those guys have progressed,? Chudzinski said. ?When we get out there in pads and we see them in situations, we?ll be looking for improvement there. It will be about production.?

And if Weeden and the other quarterbacks don?t produce in 2013, there will be a lot of talk about drafting a quarterback high in 2014.

(Next: We?ll take a look at the Browns running backs)

  9. I was listening to CBS radio this morning at work and heard a very interesting observation. The commentator was talking about the Pirates and how the fan base had endured year after year of sub 500 baseball since 1992 and still came to game and worshipped the team. They brought up the Cubs and the lack of a World Series Championship in 100 years+ and then the conversation went to the NFL. It was stated that the Cleveland Browns have the best fan base in pro sports. No matter how the team is doing, the passion that the fans share is like no other in sports. I just thought you guys would like to know how some people feel about you. *THUMBSUP*

Yes, however there have been zero sitings of actual Bengals fans since the launch of MNC.

Do they exist? Or is it just a myth?

I live right in the middle of the great state of Ohio and it's always been Cleveland Browns territory. There are some Steelers fans in the area, but a Bengal fan sighting is rare....There are a few that I know of, but their level of passion for the team pales in comparison...If Cinci has a really good season, you'll see some Bengals fans come out of the woodwork. They just don't stick with them through the bad times like the Browns fans do. In the 90's, it was like they didn't exist. The team was awful, and even in the southwestern part of the state, the fans vanished....A lot of it is about Mike Brown. He's not real popular.

I've read about the Browns looking to go after a more modern look (I'm all for it if they respect the current uniforms and tradition) but the one team I always thought was missing the chance to change things up and dominate in jersey sales was Cincinnati.

If you think about it there is really nothing for the Bengals to cling to traditionally.

There are no SBs, the fanbase is completely fair weather and they are the only team in the league to sport the orange and black.

The 'Tony-the Tiger' unis are not "Grrrrrrreat!!!", in fact they could be a big reason that the franchise cannot market itself outside of Cincy.

Just my opinion, but the Bengals could be a marketing boom waiting to happen if they would wholesale change things and not hang onto anything from the past other than the colors.

New logo, new uniforms, new slogan and all, just ante up and go for broke.

It?s a holiday week, but the litigation machine never sleeps. Especially when liability is pretty clear.

According to Alison Grant of the Cleveland Plain Dealer, two more lawsuits alleging fuel rebate fraud were filed Wednesday against Pilot Flying J, the company run by Browns owner Jimmy Haslam.

One company, R&R Transportation of Minnesota, contends it received a letter on July 1 from Pilot Flying J, citing a ?potential discrepancy? for the trucking company that buys roughly 140,000 gallons of fuel per month. A check was enclosed, for an amount not disclosed in the lawsuit.

Haslam previously has promised that Pilot Flying J will settle up with customers for any amounts not properly paid, plus interest.

Another company, Townes Trucking of Coffeeville, Mississippi, sued in federal court in Louisiana, likewise claiming rebate fraud.

Per the Plain Dealer, the new filings expand the total number of customer lawsuits to 18. Multiple class actions have been filed; if any one of them is certified, all potentially defrauded customers will be joined in a single action, with each customer having the opportunity to sue on its own, if it so chooses.

The total potential liability isn?t known, and for Haslam it?s a less significant worry than the possibility that he?ll be indicted. Five Pilot Flying J executives have pleaded guilty, and it?s expected that more will do the same.

One said in his plea agreement that ?senior management? of the company was aware of the scam.

  20. bluez M.V.P. Browns Indians

The number of lawsuits against Browns owner Jimmy Haslam's truck-stop company Pilot Flying J has grown to 18.
Audubon, Minn. based R&R Transportation became the latest company to file suit, even after Pilot Flying J tried to cut it a check on Monday. The number clearly wasn't to the company's liking. Haslam is up to his ears in civil suits less than three months after the FBI/IRS raided his company, but the federal investigation remains his primary concern. A billionaire ? at least for now ? Haslam should be able to settle most of the suits that come his way.
