  1. bluez, let the off time begin, Aaron Hernandez's home is searched and the vehicle rented in his name added to a murder investigation in Boston. The dead man is a man know by Hernandez. These guys will never learn how to stay away from trouble or the types that will cause it. Whether Hernandez is a suspect or not, the Patriots can not be happy, Hernandez with a red flag and Gronk with yet another surgery. *WALL* *HELP*

aaCLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Browns? 2013 rookie class toured the city of Cleveland on Tuesday, visiting the team?s Youth Football Camp, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and taking in an Indians baseball game.
CLEVELAND -- The Cleveland Browns? 27 rookies served as guest instructors at the team?s Youth Football Camp, toured the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and took in batting practice from the warning track before watching the Cleveland Indians-Kansas City Royals baseball game at Progressive Field.

?I came from California, and getting adjusted to the city is helping me feel the fan base here,? said defensive back Leon McFadden. ?That?s a good thing.?

During batting practice, the rookies got the opportunity to interact with players and coaches from the Indians and Royals.

?This is definitely the coolest experience I?ve had at Progressive Field,? added outside linebacker and Cleveland native Justin Staples. ?I?m usually up in the ?nosebleed seats? somewhere, but now, actually being on the field watching batting practice, getting to talk to some of the players, getting to talk to (manager) Terry Francona, it?s an experience I?ll never forget.?

Watching batting practice was especially meaningful for McFadden, whose father was a professional baseball pitcher who spent parts of three seasons with the Houston Astros organization.

?As a kid, I grew up playing baseball,? McFadden said. ?He would always throw BP (batting practice) to me after dinner or before dinner. It?s just good to be around baseball again. I miss it, but I?m enjoying it with my fellow rookies.?

At the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, the rookies received a tour of the archives, which holds items that are not currently on display in the Hall?s main exhibits. They also got an opportunity to see exhibits dedicated to the Rolling Stones -- who recently celebrated their 50th anniversary in the music industry -- as well as Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, Michael Jackson.

?That was probably my fourth time going there, and it?s something that doesn?t get old,? Staples said. ?There?s so much history and tradition, it?s almost like a legacy is in that building. Every time you go in there, you learn something new about some artist.

?It?s a cool thing being that I can be the eyes and ears of the city for (the rookies) to let them know the Rock Hall is something great and let them know there?s different things and getting out to Progressive Field and let them know the fanfare that surrounds the Indians.?

Outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo felt like Tuesday?s tour of the city of Cleveland was a good way for his first-year teammates to learn about each other.

?We?re bonding as a rookie class,? Mingo said. ?A lot of the guys are coming together. The older guys aren?t here right now, so it?s just us and we know what we?re going through. We?re here at the same time and are leaning on each other to get through.?

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The temptation is to blame the Browns for the cancellation of the July 14 "Fan Kickoff Concert" at FirstEnergy Stadium with Bon Jovi.

But then word came that Bon Jovi also canceled his concert on July 16 at Noblesville, Ind.

We don't know all the details of the collapse of the Browns' kickoff concert because the Browns have said nothing of consequence.

Part of the reason for their silence might be because they want to book other major acts into the stadium, and they don't want to say anything to turn off other top-flight acts and booking agencies.

But Browns fans are left with the impression that the team failed to pull this off, after hyping it on May 28.

Futhermore, it seems they tried to do too much, too fast -- and it makes little sense to bring Bon Jovi back when he was just here in March.

    So now what?

While I won't fault them for whatever happened with Bon Jovi, they should have had a Plan B ready.

Or at least, they could have said: "While we won't have Bon Jovi, we still have Michael Stanley and the Resonators. We also are working on something else -- details to come later."

The Browns need to be proactive, rather than surprised by what just happened.

They should go back to where the idea started -- something special for Browns fans. Maybe something a little different to start the season.

Then ask, "What do Browns fans like?"

    I know, a winner.

    But what else?

    They love their history.

Think Bernie Kosar. Think Frank Ryan. Think Jim Brown.

    Think Hanford Dixon, Frank Minnifield.

Think Sam Rutigliano, Brian Sipe, Bubba Baker. Think Brian Brennan, Paul Warfield, Reggie Rucker.

    Come on, Browns, think . . .

    THINK BROWNS FOOTBALL!

Then get on the phone, round up some key former players.

Bring in some current favorites such as Joe Thomas, D'Qwell Jackson, Trent Richardson, Greg Little and others.

Rent out an area for a night. Keep the prices reasonable -- $5 or $10 a person, kids for a buck. You can work out the details. Tie it to a local charity.

Have Michael Stanley rock. Have the pep rally that was planned for the stadium. Have the players stationed all over the place, with fans having a chance to get autographs.

Then give stuff away, lots of stuff: T-shirts and little Nerf footballs and other things fans love. Have inflatables for the kids, and nostalgia for the adults. Bring some of the displays over from the new Legends Hall at the stadium.

Make it into one giant tailgate party, with dollar dogs on the grill and cheap sodas, burgers and popcorn.

Instead of trying to throw 80-yard touchdown passes, just move the chains, pile up the first downs.

Touch your fans where they live.

The truth is the Browns never needed Bon Jovi, a New Jersey rocker.

Instead, turn this into one big Family Fest with a distinct Browns flavor -- something you should have done in the first place.

once again showing my novice status with the internet machine. Sorry for the multi posts. As happy as I am to have found all of you posting it 4 times wasn't a reflection of zeal, just ineptitude in using the new site.

Bluez, I really like your idea for a homegrown celebration of Cleveland Browns and their remarkably loyal fan base. Still looking for new ownership truly connect with the people who make the Brown and Orange relevant. That is where the "heart" of this team lies, unfortunately not within the stadium, but ardently cheering for it, and trying to project upon these new players the honor and passion that they invest, in an effort to capture the glory of Browns history and impart it to them.

It is June and I can believe we will rise again, against all evidence to the contrary that lies before us. Have we found the spark in this regime that will light the Cleveland fires anew? It's June and I hope.

He is a very good, smart safety...Not sure it will translate to the NFL where the absolute best athletes in the world are lining up to make you look foolish.

I am rooting for him to take it to the next level though. We will see soon enough.

Brett it makes sense that he does just that . i would not be surprised to see Tebow become a survivable TE . the guy is a football player .

Belichick is smart enough to use him the way he should be used .it was a good signing by the Pats . it will be interesting to watch for sure .

The Cleveland Browns announced Wednesday they have added five scouts to their personnel department to serve under general manager Michael Lombardi.

Brent Blaylock, Brendan Donovan, Matthew Manocherian and Patrick Moore were brought on to serve as college scouts while Frank Edgerly will be a senior pro scout for the team.

Edgerly has spent the past four years working as a scout for the New England Patriots.

Donovan spent the last two years as the director of on-campus recruiting for the University of Florida. Moore served as an assistant coach for Fordham University from 2007-2011. Manocherian spent the last three years as a scouting assistant for the New Orleans Saints

Blaylock may have the most interesting path to the Browns as he spent the last two years working for Penske Racing. Prior to his time in motorsports, he served for three years as assistant director of football operations for the University of Miami after a year working in the Miami Dolphins operations department.

I like Mingo already! lol! Gotta love the kid's enthusiasm....There's nothing wrong with him saying, "the Browns could have the best D in the league". It may be a bit overstated but so what! He see's that we have alot of talent on that side of the ball, and he's fired up about it. If we're going to get this thing turned around, we need that kind of "take a back seat to no-one" attitude. It seems like all our defensive players are excited about Ray Horton's "attacking" 3-4 multi-front defense. And why not? Obviously the front office has decided to get after the QB's this year. IMO that's a good decision....We have some young guys and some experienced vets that know how to bring pressure off the edge. It should be very exciting and fun to watch. I'm lookin forward to it...

  14. Now the discussion of Tebow and the Patriots really heats up with the news of Hernandez doing his best impersonation of a CSI drama. ]:-> On the Hernandez take, he is what we thought, what we had seen from his days of youth and to find a possible connection with a major crime is not a shock. Robert Kraft may have lost a ring to Putin but this will hit him harder if all is true. :|

Tebow, a strange case of I am a QB, will always be a QB and maybe "Where does the TE go?" *THUMBSUP* I also thought that signing Tebow was a good idea by the Patriots but under a different reason. I though Belacheat would use him as a work horse for sure in practice but also the holder for the field goal and the up back in the punt. With Tebow holding, does any team know when the Patriots are going to go for 2? :p Even Timmy can pass for 5 yards and a 4th down conversation, run for a 2 pointer or throw for it. It was just another way for the Patriots to score more than everyone else. *YAHOO*

An 85-year-old man was requested by his doctor for a sperm count as part of his physical exam. The doctor gave the man a jar and said, "Take this jar home and bring back a semen sample tomorrow." The next day the 85-year-old man reappeared at the doctor's office and gave him the jar, which was as clean and empty as on the previous day. The doctor asked, what happened and the man explained. "Well, doc, it's like this--first I tried with my right hand, but nothing. Then I tried with my left hand, but still nothing. Then I asked my wife for help. She tried with her right hand, then with her left, still nothing. She tried with her mouth, first with the teeth in, then with her teeth out, still nothing. We even called up Arleen, the lady next door and she tried too, first with both hands, then an armpit, and she even tried squeezin' it between her knees, but still nothing." The doctor was shocked! "You asked your neighbor?" The old man replied, "Yep, none of us could get the damn jar open!!"

Bet you weren't expecting that ending...now were ya?
