I was talking to a girl in the bar last night. She said, "If you lost a few pounds, had a shave and got your hair cut, you'd look all right."
I said, "If I did that, I'd be talking to your friends over there instead of you."

I got caught taking a pee in the swimming pool today.

Pretty sure that both will " pass " the test. then again there are lots of ways to beat it if you have time before they whizz you .

Honestly just go ahead and legalise it in all states . put a fair price on it . tax it and watch the $$$ roll in for schools and our aging infrastructure which is in dire need of upgrading . start with the bridges which are all mostly unsafe in this country .

The Browns, a playoff team in 2015? Maybe not as far fetched as you may believe. Don Delco tells us five things that must occur for Cleveland to celebrate a return to the playoff stage.

Find a quarterback: Veteran placeholder? Another rookie? More Hoyer? Someone who can corral Johnny Football? Yeah, pretty much every team in this list needs a quarterback and it?s probably the top reason they?re not playing in January.

For the Browns, the quarterback doesn?t need to be spectacular, just average. It seems like a simple enough search, but past experiences have told us that the difficulty level for this quest ranks right up there with finding Jimmy Hoffa?s body.

Create offensive line depth: When center Alex Mack started this season (five games), the Browns rushed for 146.4 yards per game. When he was sidelined because of injury (the final 11 games), the Browns rushed for 90.5 yards per game.

Injuries are going to happen, but with young running back talent the Browns can?t afford to ignore adding to the depth of this offensive line, which its starters ? when healthy ? are comprised of two first-round picks and two second-round picks.

Improve run defense: Since the team returned in 1999, they have played some awfully bad run defense, but it was among the worst we?ve seen in 2014. Shockingly, they were able to win seven games.

The Browns were last in the league in rushing defense as opponents averaged 4.5 yards per carry and 141.6 yards per game. As it stands now, Le?Veon Bell, Justin Forsett and Jeremy Hill can?t contain their excitement about facing this run defense twice next season.

Continuity is key: Yes, the team is again searching for a coach this offseason, but at least it isn?t the head coach. Hey, that?s progress! Since the end of the 2008 season, the Browns have had four new head coaches in six seasons. The Browns are looking for a new offensive coordinator, but the old OC, Kyle Shanahan, wasn?t head coach Mike Pettine?s pick.

Former team CEO Joe Banner selected Shanahan and now those are among the faction of ghosts of Browns coaches and front office personnel past. Talk about scary.

that burns me more than anything . watching teams stuff the ball down our throats :! ..Mingo is to bony and is only a situational pass rusher at best .. We need a OLB that can set the edge for starters .

  9. Brooks Reed, Houston! Not much of a pass rusher but is a run stuffer or Brandon Graham, Eagles can get you 5/6 sacks a year and play the run stuffer outside. Those would be my picks!

  10. This GB/Sea. game has some good FA in it.

    Seattle GB

    1. OLB -M. Smith 1. RT - B. Bulaga
    2. G- Carpenter 2. WR - Cobb
    3. ILB - Lattimore

    T. Aikman just said Bulaga missed game 1 and 2 and the offensive line was lost. That shows me they will resign him and let Cobb and Lattimore go! Losing Mack last year we know how that feels. Losing your leader on that line.

  11. Yahoo reports that John Elway hopes to resign both WR D. Thomas and TE J. Thomas. Manning and his 16m must be either retiring or taking a pay cut.

OK, gentlemen, the old Irish is back at it...

I had an eye opening experience watching the playoffs yesterday and all of you were right all along. This team can win...

Let me repeat...this TEAM can win, a Super Bowl...

That's all the Seattle Seahawks are, they are a TEAM, no, a family playing this game for each other..

    So I have a list of WANTS to happen in the next several weeks;

    1) We need an offensive coordinator that will keep the offensive line at the top of their game and believes in the philosophy of run the ball down the opponents throat. I want to lead the NFL in rushing for the next 10 years and make teams emulate what we are doing, much the same as we would be emulating the Seahawks.

    2) We need a right tackle up to the task and depth behind them. We need at least 2 backup lineman that can step in if a) Mack were to get hurt in the future and b) any other player goes down.

    3) I want a wide receiver coach that will come in here and show these guys how to circle around to their QB when he is scrambling.

    4) I want a QB coach who has worked with rookies in his past and been successful guiding them through the waters

    5) I am convinced more than ever we need a veteran QB who can simply allow the system to do it's job. I am also convinced, based on his career, that should be Mark Sanchez. He didn't get in the way of the Jets making it to TWO CONSECUTIVE AFC Championship games. He knows what he needs to do, and more importantly, what he doesn't need to do. He will never be in the top ten of QBs in this league, but his arm is better than Hoyer's when needed.

    6) We need to hire a TEAM PSYCHOLOGIST and make it mandatory that anyone with a check mark on their record have weekly meetings with him/her to get them mentally in shape to be a part of this team and adopt the Play Like a Brown attitude. After watching Russel Wilson yesterday, I am certain of one thing, Johnny Manziel can run an offense as well or better than Wilson did...However, Wilson's heart is as big as any I have seen put on the uniform. If Manziel has that fire buried some where inside, then it needs to come out and he needs to get his mind straight. Same goes for Josh Gordon, we have seen the talent, now he needs to get his head and in turn, his life, straight to help this team win.

We have many of the tools needed already in place. Farmer needs to do the rest this off season and this team can get to the promised land sooner than later. Right now, it is a mental brick wall holding this team back. They need to become a family and start doing this the right way.

    OK, now for a plan....

I want to go off the cuff here at O-coordinator...

I want the Browns to go out and get Tom Cable, the assistant HC and Offensive Line coach of the same team we are trying to emulate.

I want him to bring one of a couple of coaches with him...

First as the new WRs coach, I want either the current Seahawks WR coach, Kippy Brown so that Carrol's son can move into that position in Seattle, or go get Carrol's son Nate, who is the current assistant WRs coach.

QB coach - Matt Cavanaugh, who was there when Sanchez came into the league. He is currently with the Bears as their QB coach, but with the coaching changes there, he will most likely be looking for a new position soon and he also coached with Pettine in New York, so there is a connection.

    Any other questions?

1 - Do you really believe that Johnny Manziel possesses a better skill set than Russell Wilson?

I see where you are going with the rest of it and as far as game plans go what you have makes sense. It's not the approach I would take but it is some sound reasoning.

Except for the team psych part. I don't believe that would fly at all.

  15. Irish I see what you are saying and I agree we are close to a playoff team. 1 of the things you stated was this team has to become a team. Every player on both sides of the ball have to buy in. I agree with that statement. So then getting rid of Gordon is crucial! It was plain as day he didn't fit into the passing game or from his off field actions wants to be part of a team concept. Our offense looked better without him and so did the passing game. Now whether that was Hoyer or him taking plays off is yet to be mentioned. It could be both! Which leads me to my next position of need. Your right on this one too. We need a veteran above average QB. I'm not sold on Manziel just yet. I don't hear about him rehabbing his leg or working on his game mentally like watching film. All I hear about is his partying all over the country still. He knew he would go late in the 1st rd. He also knew the higher he got drafted the more money he would make. So he texted the lowly Cleveland Browns who needed a QB and put on his act again with a bunch of bullchit! Haslam and the Browns fell for it! I heard from multiply reports the Browns wanted Bridgewater 1st and he said he didn't want to come here. IMAGINE that!

Next something else you brought up was a RT. As much as we want a new RT I don't think the Browns are going to get one. I read on Bleacher Report that Schwartz doesn't miss games and the Browns like that. I really think the Browns are going to bring in a RG instead. Plus that would add depth like you said.

After that you chatted about WR. We both heard or read that Farmer doesn't like to draft WR early because they don't touch the ball enough or on a short percentage. Then he is going to have to pay for one then. It is as plain as day that Gordon want's out of here. I know it breaks every ones heart but he want's out. How do you think he feels about the Browns suspending him the last game so next year he doesn't become an UFA? That was a great move for the Browns and Farmer to do. That move alone told me he is gone. 1. It would make him more tradeable because whoever trades for him would get a compensation pick and if we can't get what we want for him in trade, whoever signs him has to give us a pick! I tried to tell everyone this guy isn't to bright, LOL!

The defense on this team needs improvement. We have Krueger on one side know we need that pass rushing OLB on the other side. Mingo is not it! We also need a DT that can stuff the run and keep lineman off an ILB which is the next position we need bad. I like Robertson but he is a good roll player. Dansby I like but he is long in the tooth. Kersley or whatever is like Robertson just better.

The Browns do that and even though next years schedule is 4x harder than this year we could improve.

Yes, or at the very least, on par. We are talking physically, obviously not mentally.

Team psych is more an admittance of having some bad seeds on the team...

Personally, If I were going to spend in free agency, I would call Dez Bryant and ask what it would take to come over, he would do more for this offense mentally than someone with their doctorate. He would hold them accountable. I'm just not sure spending $17M per year on a wide receiver for a running football team is money well spent...

Veteran leadership with a vocal theme is needed desperately...I'm not sure where they are going to find that...

I'll just say that I disagree and we can discuss Johnny and Russell at length at another time. I don't want to derail what you started here because I think it makes for interesting conversation.

Part of the difficulty with changing culture in the locker room would be that Farmer used his first draft to pick up a lot of talent with character issues, along with the ones he inherited.

Josh Gordon's issues are well documented.

Crowell was one of the more talented backs coming out in his draft class but he had a lot of red flags around him. Without those question marks he most likely was a 4th round pick. So far he has been a solid contributor, stayed out of trouble and in my opinion should be the starting RB going into next season.

We are now seeing the mentality of Gilbert and West.

There were concerns about Manziel prior to the draft so as it stands right now Farmer is not putting any emphasis on a players disposition.

There is a trend here in regards to tolerating or ignoring these kind of issues and at some point he will have to address character concerns and make hard decisions.

This is only his second off-season so it will be interesting to see what direction he decides to go in with this draft and FA.

I know what Gordon has done and I also know they looked better last year without him...However, I am not in the camp that thinks a player with the talent of the top in the NFL on a minimum salary should simply be cut from the plans. He needs to get his arse in gear and get with the program, not just cut ties. Is is not cost effective to do so.

As for Bridgewater, he has adamantly denied those reports several times...I know your views on our dysfunction, but I don't think Bridgewater was trying to sever ties with any opportunity he could have to play in this league.

The truth is, I don't care in the least what we could have, or didn't do...That is history and we must move forward. Our reality is that we are currently sitting with Johnny Manziel. So they need to get him on board or move on. Those are the only two options at our disposal, unless you are in possession of a time machine.

Even if they have faith in Mitchell Schwartz, which don't take this the wrong way. I am not as down on him as most people on these boards, but he certainly can be upgraded and he is in the last year of his contract.

I feel the easiest way to shore up the right side is by getting a strong RT.

If they like Schwartz durability, move him inside and see if he is a fit, otherwise, move on from him in 2016.

Again, I would LOVE to get a leader WR like Dez Bryant, but they aren't going to spend on this particular position. We will get another equivelant of Miles Austin, one a year younger or so and that will be Farmer's answer. You might want to start thinking about someone like Eddie Royal, Hakeem Nicks or Andre Holmes.

Mingo may not be "it", but I don't think Farmer sees it as high a priority as you do. He was praising the LBers just last week, along with the offensive line and defensive backfield.

Farmer is spending Haslem's money on the lines, with a concentration on the defensive line. Don't be surprised if they acquire a DT and DE in free agency, then go draft heavy on the positions as well.

Next priority is signing Tashon Gipson long term...

    '

Well, I believe Farmer has seen the error of his ways. He was thrust into the front seat last off season and he chose to ignore the basic elements of the off season, like College All Star games, the combine and pro days. These are crucial elements where coaches can gather information from players in a high intensity and stressful environment. I don't think Manziel would have come out looking any less rosy. The kid is a master manipulator and seems to have a gift for saying the right things no matter the situation. I think his future is in politics, maybe the next mayor of Houston or Dallas??

Gilbert though? Who knows what they could have learned about his personality and preparation if they had followed him around?

West was a 3rd round pick and imho, these are the rounds when you start taking on the question mark kids with a lot of talent. I don't think anyone would have guessed West was as hard headed and/or lazy as he was going into the process, but then Farmer didn't take the time to do his homework during last off season either. He only attended a select couple of pro days and didn't attend any group events at all.

Now this year, he has already gone to the Shrine game, and I saw a report that he was in Alabama for Senior Bowl week...Practices are Tue, Wed and Thurs this week with the game on Saturday...

Irish ..good to see ya back buddy

Okay here is another scenario to ponder on the QB Front ..no it has nothing to do with Manziel ..

keep a eye on both Miami & the Rams ..this is Philbins last shot in Miami ..Matt Moore who I liked three years ago or get this how about Tannehill ? will Philbin hitch his wagon to Tannehill or Moore knowing its his last chance .one or both might be available .

the Rams ..Austin Davis played well for them last season when Bradford went down . will the Rams keep Bradford ? or go with Davis ? I know Bradford has had injury concerns but when healthy he has played well . once again one or both might be available .

if not sign Sanchez and of course you know how I feel about the little weasel ..send him packing if you can get anything for him .
