Obviously, Mr Jameis Winston created this meme after the game.

From a respected poster over on the OBR ...

My first topic ever, I am a little nervous. Anyway here it goes.

My dad is a maintenance (HVAC mostly) at a bunch of apartment complexes in Lima Ohio. One of the tenants had a picture of a Brown's player on her wall and when my dad asked about it he found out that she was Nick McDonald's sister.

Since then he has talked to her a few times. Last week he ran into her and they were discussing the Browns slide. She told him that Nick told her that Haslam is constantly in contact with the coaches giving them his input on who they should play.

Take that how you want , good or bad. I just thought I would pass it along.

I questioned how Nick would even know that. It sounds like locker room rumors to me (or a family upset he isn'the playing) but even so that is bad if some of the players feel the owner and not the coach is making the football decisions.

I know Haslam owns the team and it is 100% his right to make all the decision if he chooses. I just hope he leaves football to the guys who know it.

I found it interesting . I Hope that Haslam leaves the coaching descsions to his staff . he is not a coach . he hired them let them do there job . we all want to win now not later . our roster is far from a finished product .

please please do not turn into a Jerry Jones / Dan Snyder .. he spent time in Pittsburg he should know better .I am sure the Roonys don't tell there coaching staff what to do .

I would not be the least bit surprised to find that he makes all the calls.

  5. Watching Benjamin/Carolina tear up Peterson/Arizona FARMER NEEDS FIRED TODAY! Man this guy missed a lot of good talent that 1st rd. If I am you fellas I wouldn't expect much from Farmer this draft! He doesn't know top talent! Again Benjamin just grabbed a pass on Peterson! Man this kid is better than I thought! Wish Farmer was bright enough to draft this young man instead of not trying to piss off POTHEAD!

Oh well guy's since I think right now this is a 2/3 win football team anyway next year I say BUST FOR BOSA! I'm going to have my wife and daughters make about 50. Put them for sale online! Ill make them Brown and Orange. I hope sales don't go crazy! How would I fill the orders?Watching another ex-Buckeye, Philly Brown, tearing it up for Carolina now! Farmer needs to start drafting winners, DRAFT BUCKEYES! Need to end this loser mentality.

Bluez bud I hate to tell u this but Haslam makes all the calls! He wanted Manziel (Which is why he WONT get traded) and he told Pettine to bring in and start Manziel. But be on the look out for my BUST FOR BOSA shirts. This dumbass front office needs all the help it can get! Cant keep blowing 1st rd picks FOREVER! Can you?

So Haslam makes all the calls, but Farmer needs to be fired for missing talent when Haslam was pulling the trigger? Yo no comprendo, amigo.

  7. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

So we end up with 6 draft picks, 4 of which were successful by the end of the year as rookies, and Farmer is a fireable failure? Some teams would love to get 4 players each draft to contribute...there is no way to guage Gilbert's mental state. As of the end of last season, he was a very highly thought of prospect. Never can tell if they can adapt. Not necessarily on Farmer for that one.

What's up my fellow hounds? Next round on me.....

2014 was not kind...lets hope this new year brings better things.

my health hasn't been the greatest fellas, and that's why i haven't contributed a whole lot....I always read and enjoy this thread though....Keep up the good work.

  9. I think you guy's are still happy they are just here and laughing stocks! Just imagine if he wouldn't have blown that 1st rd. We would have Watkins/Evans then you can trade Pothead! 2. Draft Carr and you have your future QB and there will be no need to think about trading Manziel or trading 2 1st rd picks to take Mariota if that's who genius is thinking about drafting! I did read in numerous articles that Farmer loves Mariota! If you are blind enough to think that Haslam didn't make the JM draft call then I can sell you some ocean front property here in Cleveland real cheap! He also made the play Manziel call!

I do know this. That draft was average for a 4 win football team! It could of been a game changer for this organization. But Farmer on a 4 win football team drafted 2 real starters. 2! That's why no one wants to come here. They don't care about J. Brown, P. Brown, Kelly, Mitchell, Groza and Hickerson. THEY WANT TO WIN!!!!!!! This team is still dysfunctional! Look at this year! Dysfunctional! Until that stops, that will continue. Shanny is even getting offers from other teams. That would be the Browns fortune!

I was just pointing out how you are contradicting yourself. Constantly.

First you say we need consistency, then in the next breath you're saying fire everyone.

First you say Haslam is calling the shots, then blaming Farmer. Which is it?

Look man, I want to win just as much as everyone here, but if we continue to fire folks we will continue to be dysfunctional. No one with experience will come here, so if we fire Farmer we will end up with someone else who is a first time GM and will have to learn. If we fire Pettine, we will end up with another 30 day coaching search and sign someone that no one has heard of again.

What don't you get about that?

  11. DvlDawg Starter Browns

No one with a solid body of work, a reputation, and competency is going to take a job where they will be micromanaged by someone that does not know what they are doing. Also take into consideration that the life expectancy of a coach/GM/team Pres/waterboy in Cleveland is actually shorter than that of the common house fly.

Until we can prove that we are stable, we will never attract experienced talent to lead the team, and naturally we will be unable to develop the talent here.

Devil dog, I couldn't agree more. It was a frustrating season, and if the Haslam interference mentioned is true, that is dissapointing, but: He's a Rookie Owner with a Rookie Head Coach, and a Rookie QB (maybe). They all have made mistakes. OK I get it, but while firing them to express your displeasure may be satisfying in the short run, it is proven to be a sure fire method for sustained failure. Period.

Learn the lessons of a season gone bad, and apply those lessons in the season ahead. Grow! Expect more from yourselves, and then you can ask for more from your players. Admit your mistakes, like you want Gilbert and Manziel to, and "act" on them. Move forward. Together.

  13. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

I agree 100% Ken...they MUST learn and grow from this experience. There are very few shortcuts and even fewer in the NFL.

I also believe you need to take some chances in order to succeed though...

    The Morning Kickoff ?

From top to bottom: My annual rankings of the Browns always is a sobering experience because they drive home how thin the roster is.

After you get past the few Pro Bowl players, the drop-off is precipitous. In the past, you could count on a specialist or two cracking the top 10. That?s no longer the case. But until the quarterback ranks in the top five, the team is not going to be playoff-competitive.

My rankings are based on role, opportunity, production and value to the team. They are purely unscientific and strictly my opinion. Players active for fewer than eight games are listed separately.

    1. Left tackle Joe Thomas: Eighth straight year without missing a snap, his exemplary play earned his 8th Pro Bowl berth and 7th All-Pro selection.

    2. Cornerback Joe Haden: Played at elite level over final 12 games; only one interference penalty in 1,022 defensive snaps.

    3. Outside linebacker Paul Kruger: Team?s only consistent pass rusher posted career highs with 11 sacks and four forced fumbles, and influenced at least four interceptions.

    4. Left guard Joel Bitonio: Best season for a Browns? rookie draft pick since Joe Thomas in 2007. His tackle of Devin Hester may have been the play of the year.

    5. Free safety Tashaun Gipson: Limited to 2/3 of total snaps because of knee injury, he posted six interceptions, one for a TD, and finished 8th on defense in tackles.

    6. Inside linebacker Karlos Dansby: Not the season he wanted, he came back from four-week knee injury to play in final game and finish 2nd in tackles and 3rd in sacks.

    7. Strong safety Donte Whitner: His 1,153 snaps from scrimmage led the team, and 106 tackles led the defense. Only two turnovers, though.

    8. Defensive end Desmond Bryant: First among linemen in tackles and second overall with five sacks, matching his career high.

    9. Wide receiver Andrew Hawkins: Miscast as an outside receiver, he came through with career highs with 59 receptions for 791 yards. Probably more effective inside.

    10. Tight end Jordan Cameron: Injuries cost him seven games and probably a free agent offer from the Browns, but he produced three plays over 40 yards and led team with 17.7-yard receiving average.

    11. Inside linebacker Craig Robertson: Capped off solid season (3rd in tackles, one INT, one fumble return for TD) with team award as Walter Payton Man of Year.

    12. Cornerback Buster Skrine: Counting special teams, was on the field more than any player (1,277 snaps). Had career-best four interceptions, but 15 penalties (seven pass interference) led the team.

    13. Running back Isaiah Crowell: Peaked with 88-yard, 2-TD day in Game 11, he was 2nd among rookie backs with 8 TDs, 1st on team with 4.1 average and 2d with 607 yards.

    14. Quarterback Brian Hoyer: Maddeningly erratic at times, but also 7-6 with three Pro Bowl teammates missing 10, 5 and 8 games before he was yanked.

    15. Running back Terrance West: A wildly inconsistent rookie year ? three games of 94-plus yards, four games with fewer than 25 yards, two games in the doghouse.

    16. Receiver Miles Austin: Durability issues lowered expectations, but he was 2nd with 47 receptions and unofficially first in clutch catches before a kidney injury in 12th game.

    17. Punter Spencer Lanning: His gross average (44.3) and net (39.2) were up from a year ago, and he finished the year handling kickoffs.

    18. Outside linebacker Jabaal Sheard: Played hurt most of season and produced disappointing numbers ? career lows in sacks (2), tackles (44) and turnovers (0).

    19. Inside linebacker Chris Kirksey: Decent rookie season for unheralded third-round draft choice, he was 4th in tackles and added two sacks and a forced fumble.

    20. Wide receiver Taylor Gabriel: Big surprise from the team?s smallest player ? his 17.3 average on 36 receptions ranked fifth in the league among wideouts.

    21. Right tackle Mitchell Schwartz: With only three holding penalties, you could say ?the Oracle? held his own this year, playing every snap for third consecutive season.

    22. Outside linebacker Barkevious Mingo: Played the last 14 games with a shoulder injury that severely restricted his right arm. Still had real strong game v. Colts in Game 13.

    23. Right guard John Greco: Played every offensive snap, including one game at center, and had fewest penalties (four) of the regular O-linemen.

    24. Defensive end Billy Winn: Third among D-linemen in tackles, and added an interception and forced fumble. Gave up a block on a field goal and also blocked one of his own.

    25. Nose tackle Ahtyba Rubin: Repeated ankle injuries caused six-year lows in tackles and severely muted his impact.

    26. Free safety Jim Leonhard: Coach-on-the-field had two interceptions, plus another on a two-point try, and a sack filling in for Tashaun Gipson.

    27. Cornerback K?Waun Williams: Undrafted rookie had a nice, five-game stretch in middle of year before concussion and hamstring injuries limited him.

    28. Tight end Jim Dray: Surprised some with five receptions of 20 or more yards among his 17 catches.

    29. Nose tackle Ishmaa?ily Kitchen: Space-eater pressed into extra duty produced second-most tackles on D-line.

    30. Wide receiver Travis Benjamin: Punt return woes aside, he did record career highs in receptions (18) and yards (314) and led team with three receiving TDs.

    31. Tight end Gary Barnidge: A serviceable player who gives back to fans in a lot of unpublicized ways.

    32. Running back Ben Tate: Malcontent had a 100-yard game and four TDs before being waived after eight games.

    33. Safety/special teamer Johnson Bademosi: Special teams tackles champion for 3rd year in a row.

    34. Kicker Billy Cundiff: Contributed to team?s No. 1 ranking on kickoff coverage with 39 touchbacks, but his missed field goals in Games 3 and 13 were critical failures.

    35. Linebacker/special teamer Tank Carder: Third in special teams tackles, his blocked punt out of the end zone produced one of 10 safeties in the NFL this season.

    36. Cornerback Justin Gilbert: Any way you slice it, the 8th overall pick of the draft had a dismal year capped by a suspension for missing a meeting in the team hotel the day before the last game. Five penalties and one Pick 6.

    37. Safety Jordan Poyer:Second with 13 special teams tackles, but had a critical muffed punt in Game 6.

    38. Wide receiver/returner Marlon Moore: Fourth in special teams tackles, had a 24.8 kickoff return average and forced a fumble.

    39. Linebacker/special teamer Eric Martin:Six total tackles, a forced fumble and recovery, two penalties.

    40. Long snapper Christian Yount: Survived some bad snaps to make it through the year, but was shaky enough to inspire another snapper signing at the end.

    41. Center Nick McDonald: Hand-picked replacement for Alex Mack wasn?t up to the task.

    42. Fullback Ray Agnew: That little flair to him in the right flat? C?mon, man.

    43. Offensive guard Paul McQuistan:How did he start 14 games for the Super Bowl champion Seahawks in 2013?

    44. Quarterback Johnny Manziel: After all the hype, all the talk and all the off-field social media sightings, the bottom line was he was shockingly overmatched in seven quarters of play.

Players who were active fewer than 8 games

NR. Center Alex Mack: His absence focused more attention on the center position than any player since the great Jim Otto.

NR. Wide receiver Josh Gordon: Returned from 10-game suspension a shadow of his former self.

NR. Defensive end Phil Taylor: Had a second knee surgery after the big win in Cincinnati in Game 9.

NR. Defensive end John Hughes: Missed 11 games with a sprained knee.

NR. Defensive end Armonty Bryant: Missed 11 games after knee ligament surgery.

NR. Cornerback Pierre Desir: Inactive the first 11 games, he looked like a keeper when pressed into play at the end.

NR. Cornerback Robert Nelson: Undrafted free agent was active for six games in limited action.

NR. Quarterback Connor Shaw: He truly showed more preparedness and poise in his one game than Johnny Manziel showed all year.

NR. Running back Glenn Winston: Touted for his toughness, he received no looks on offense all year.

NR. Running back Shaun Draughn: Had a 39-yard kickoff return.

NR. Offensive guard Vinston Painter: Passed the eye test, but not good enough to get a good look after Alex Mack?s injury.

NR. Kicker Garrett Hartley: Was 3 for 3 in field goals at Carolina and Baltimore.

NR. Linebacker Scott Solomon: Had a strip sack of Cam Newton in extended time in Game 15.

2014 wasn?t a great year for Johnny Manziel. And 2015 isn?t starting off much better.

Via TMZ.com, the Browns quarterback had an encounter with hecklers at a Houston nightclub. He reportedly flipped them the bird. And they reportedly threw drinks at him.

Manziel reportedly left the club, changed clothes, and then returned after being assured by security that the troublemakers had been given the boot.

Police were not called, and in isolation it?s not a big deal. But it?s the latest example of a situation in which Manziel finds a way to make a headline. While the throwing of the drinks may have been inevitable, Manziel didn?t help matter by flashing his middle finger at the hecklers.
