Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel?s tardiness on Saturday morning was precipitated by a late night of partying on Friday.

Manziel was fined for being late for treatment on his injured hamstring on Saturday, and Jason La Canfora of CBS reports that Manziel?s tardiness came after he threw a big party on Friday night, attended by many members of the team. La Canfora reports that other players were tardy on Saturday as well, although those players? names have not been revealed.

It?s not clear whether Josh Gordon, who was suspended by the Browns for missing Saturday?s walk-through practice, was one of the players who attended Manziel?s party. But La Canfora reports that the Browns had to send their security staff to Manziel?s house to track him down on Saturday.

Manziel is on injured reserve, so he wasn?t going to play today anyway, but the fact that he?s showing up late for work ? and that his party is leading other players to be late to work ? is extremely alarming behavior for a franchise quarterback. Have you ever heard of Peyton Manning or Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers or Drew Brees or Andrew Luck or Russell Wilson hosting a late-night party that resulted in themselves and teammates showing up late to work the next morning?

Manziel claims he?s taking his work seriously, but talk is cheap. Manziel?s actions suggest that he just doesn?t get it.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Josh Gordon is viewed as a "perpetual problem" inside the Browns' organization and "has to go."

Let the pile-on begin. The Gordon bashers have come out in full force the past month, and it's now coming to a head after the team suspended him for the season finale because he missed Saturday's walkthrough. Words like "former star" and "habitually late" were also mentioned in the CBS piece. The Browns put up with Gordon's problems when he posted one of the best seasons in NFL history last season, but now that their season has collapsed in front of them, it's time to throw blame wherever. And Gordon and Johnny Manziel are the ones receiving it. The Browns have been an historically-bad organization for years now. They'd be dumb to dump Gordon. But it appears a split may be coming.

CBS Sports' Jason La Canfora reports Terrance West will start against the Ravens in Week 17.

Literally laughing out loud. This comes a week after West played zero snaps because of poor practice habits. But he's getting the nod over Isaiah Crowell. It'll be hard not to fire up the Ravens defense anywhere and everywhere in fantasy. The Ravens need a win, and the Browns will trot out UDFA Connor Shaw at quarterback, West in the backfield, and be without Josh Gordon.

Man I have been so frustrated this week..

If Manziel isn't the answer, I certainly don't have one for this team..

We could be in for a few seasons of mediocrity until something comes into focus..

You know..... I don't think I've heard of a single coach getting axed yet this season from any team. That's nuts. Usually teams have thrown someone under the bus by now. Have I just missed it?

If you're the Browns I don't see how you can "dump him". Someone will surely claim him on waivers based solely on his talent and contract status. There would probably be 15-20 teams put a claim on him because he represents cheap labor for the next two seasons (assuming he doesn't win his appeal). There is almost no financial risk involved. The only fear would be that he poisons your locker room.

I think the prudent thing to do is shop him all the way up to next season. You don't think Belichick would be interested in him for Brady's swan song? I doubt the Browns would trade him in the division but I know the Ravens would take him for a 4th or 5th round pick - maybe more.

They would be crazy to release him. Hold on to his rights and hope he either helps you or returns a draft pick in a trade.

Johnny Manziel (IR, hamstring) didn't show up on time for treatment on his injury Saturday and was fined.

Manziel threw a big party Friday night, one that was attended by Josh Gordon and other teammates. It was apparently a good time, as Gordon and Justin Gilbert both missed the Saturday walkthrough and got suspended. Meanwhile, Manziel wasn't at the facility ether Saturday and wasn't answering his phone, so team security was sent to find him. We can't imagine a worse rookie year for JFF, who lost a camp battle to Brian Hoyer, looked wildly unprepared and overwhelmed in two starts and failed to conduct himself well off the field. The Browns will be on the hunt for quarterback help again this offseason.

We?re starting to wonder if anyone on the Browns made it to any team activities on time on Saturday.

Wide receiver Josh Gordon has been suspended for the final game of the season and quarterback Johnny Manziel has been disciplined after being tardy for work on Saturday morning and now cornerback Justin Gilbert is expected to miss Sunday?s regular season finale as well.

Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Gilbert was late to a team meeting on Saturday night and that the team will make him inactive as a result. Gilbert?s work ethic has been questioned by some of his veteran teammates recently, leading coach Mike Pettine to say that he didn?t think Gilbert was a bust. For his part, Gilbert said he brought such criticism upon himself and that he would make things right.

That effort got off to just as bad a start as Manziel?s plan to be more professional heading into his second NFL season. The two first-round picks hit Cleveland with a lot of hope about the better days they?d bring with them for the perpetually forlorn franchise, but their first years are ending with the feeling that it?s the same old song for the Browns.

Two big names headline Browns inactives for Sunday

(11:56 am ET) Quarterback Brian Hoyer (shoulder) and cornerback Justin Gilbert, who is being disciplined, headline the inactives posted by the Browns for their Sunday game in Baltimore. Also hurt and out are defensive tackle Ahtyba Rubin (ankle) and tackle Ryan Seymour (hamstring).
A trio of healthy scratches include long snapper Charley Hughlett, offensive lineman Andrew McDonald and wideout Phil Bates.

I guess everyone who was in the organization with these guys is long gone by now.

  16. Bluez I am with you 1,000% my man! I don't want to draft another QB! I want Locker or Mallett! an experienced NFL QB! I'm tired of the next big rookie that is the next can't miss prospect! They are both 26 years old! Get off your arse and quit making excuses for your terrible draft, Farmer! I was taught by my CYO wrestling coach Joe McFarland, a silver medalist, that excuses are for losers! That's all I here out of this Browns organization, EXCUSES! We have a good line. I more lineman and this group could be ELITE! We have good RB's, we have a good slot WR and backups. Time to trade Gordon and draft a WR and bring one in. WE HAVE TO FIND A VETERAN QB and we need a TE!

This defense needs 2 D-lineman! An OLB because Mingo sucks and we need an ILB! We need to keep Skrine and Gipson because Dilbert is immature and sucks! We also need a KICKER!

So Irish you are right! We need about 6/7 players to come in, be upgrades and start!

As I'm writing this Shaw just completed a good pass to Cameron! Just got sacked and fumbled! I think this line needs a guard and RT! Maybe Schwartz can play guard? Cause he sucks at tackle!

GO BROWNS! END ON A POSITIVE NOTE!
