I do have to say, that with all this "controversy" this year with our QB position, Jimmy Haslam has remained a "hands-off" owner (or so it appears). I have to give a big sigh of relief that he's not another Jerry Jones, Dan Snyder or an Al Davis, up to this point. It has been only about a year now that he's owned the team and he's still learning the ropes as an owner. I'm hoping he has hired the people he wants and then keeps letting them do their jobs without much interference and letting them prove they can or can't get the job done.

Cundiff is questionable this weekend with a knee injury. Which one of you called Tonya Harding?

I'm with you 10000000% percent on this post Lyman. Perfectly stated. I didn't want JF before the draft, and I didn't want him after the draft for the very reason you state. That said, I hope that he wrecks this league now that he is the starter!

Also, I HAVE to add that I will not be so tasteless as to do back flips and use a million exclamation points if he does not work out. I will not be so immature as to call him names or suggest that we run him out of town. I will be quite sad, because it could mean that we are looking for two new QBs soon.

Best of luck, Johnny! You have my full and unreserved support.

The rain was pouring and there was a big puddle in front of the pub.

A ragged old man was standing there with a rod and hanging a string into the puddle.

A tipsy- looking, curious gentleman came over to him and asked what he was doing.
'Fishing,' the old man said simply.

'Poor old fool,' the gentleman thought and he invited the ragged old man to a drink in the pub.

As he felt he should start some conversation while they were sipping their whisky, the gentleman asked, ?And how many have you caught?'

'You're the eighth,' the old man answered.

BEREA, Ohio -- Josh Gordon said Thursday that effort is not his problem as he comes back from a 10-game suspension -- production is.

"Everything looks slower when you're not getting the ball," Gordon said as the Browns prepared to face the Cincinnati Bengals on Sunday.

Gordon's production since he returned three games ago has plummeted. His two catches for 15 yards in last week's loss to the Colts were a low since he had two catches for 21 yards in a loss in Green Bay a year ago. His production against Indianapolis was the fourth-worst day of his career -- he had three one-catch games as a rookie in 2012.

Josh Gordon's production against the Colts was the fourth-worst day of his career -- he had three one-catch games as a rookie in 2012.

"It definitely wasn't the defense," Gordon said of the Colts. "Maybe we weren't getting the right looks -- at least me -- and just couldn't produce enough, I think, in the red zone to really just spark something.

"We were trying to catch rhythm, and nobody really got it going. ... We're trying to figure it out. I really don't know."

Gordon said he thought he made the catch on a late third-down throw that was overturned on replay, and he said the timing was "just a little off" on a deep throw from Brian Hoyer on the Browns' final drive.

Gordon sounded again like he's unsure of all the details on all the plays. He said the playbook he had during his suspension was the original one given out in training camp.

"It's definitely changed since then," he said, adding he believed that rules prohibited the team from giving him an updated playbook while he was suspended.

The team, though, was permitted to give Gordon updated playbooks. It distributes its playbooks on tablets, and updates them regularly while also adjusting and altering plays to fit game plans. Gordon could not attend position meetings, so it was up to him to keep up with changes while he was not playing and practicing.

"In the heat of battle, with the detail of routes and detail of coverages, it takes a lot of work and a lot of reps," offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan said. "In fairness to Josh, he hasn't had those. I think he's working at it. There's not a day that he takes off."

Gordon described himself as "anxious" to help, and said he thinks everyone is excited to see what Johnny Manziel can do in his first start. He said he did not like being on the sideline on some third downs against the Colts, but he would go with the coach's decision.

"It was definitely a change of pace for me," he said.

Gordon was even asked if there was any truth to the social media and talk radio claims that perhaps he didn't play as hard as he could against the Colts because Hoyer started and he wanted Manziel on the field.

"There's no reason why I would even think or do something like that," Gordon said. "It's like trying to throw a game on purpose. Nobody wants to do that, if you like a guy or don't like a guy. I love Brian. He's been here since I first got here just about. He was my quarterback last year. He's a competitor. Nothing wrong with him. I've never even played with Johnny. That's crazy to think that."

Receiver Miles Austin met the media for the first time since he lacerated his kidney in the Browns loss to Buffalo Nov. 30. Austin was hospitalized until the Thursday after the game.

Austin cannot do any physical activity -- no running, lifting or anything that could cause strain. The cut is small, he said, and is not career-threatening. He will have a CT scan in four weeks to asses how much his cut has healed.

Austin can be a free agent after the season. He said he has been told he should be fine to play next season, and he wants to stay with the Browns.

"I had such a great experience with the guys, which is why I'm still here, in the meetings and everything," he said.

I hope they resign Austin .

I really really hope they keep Skrine . remember when everyone wanted him run out of town on a rail ? he has turned out to be a pretty good CB . with 4.2 speed I must add .

    Browns signed K Garrett Hartley.

Hartley will replace a struggling Billy Cundiff as the Browns' primary kicker. Hartley went 22-of-30 on field goals with the Saints last year before being cut late in the season. Hartley has made 81.2 percent of his field goal attempts in his career.

Twas the night before Johnny, when all through the Land
Not a creature was stirring, not even a Bengals fan. The banners were hung in the stands with care,
In hopes that Johnny Football soon would be there.
The fans were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of touchdowns danced in their heads. And Shanny in his 'kerchief, and Pettine in his cap, Had just settled down for a long winter's nap.
When in the morning, there arose such a clatter, Pettine sprang from the locker room to see what was the matter.
Away to the sidelines he flew like a flash,
pushed the TV crews aside and stood by the 50 yard line hash.
The sun on the breast of his glistening bald dome gave the luster of mid-day to the field the Browns call home
When what to his wondering eyes should appear, But a miniature quarterback, and eighty thousand fans giving him a cheer.

With a scamper, so lively and quick, it was easy to tell that this indeed must be Johnny Manziel.
More rapid than eagles his offense they came, And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name!
"Now Benjamin! now, Hawk! now, Gabriel and Flash
On, West! On, Crow! On Austin and Cameron!
To the red zone! to the end zone! To the Dawg Pound we go!
Now get open! get open! get open All!"
As Coach dropped his head, and was turning around, To the sidelines Johnny came with a bound.
He was dressed all in brown and orange, from his head to his foot,
And his clothes were all tarnished with grass stains and dirt.
An entire team he had Flung on his back,
And he looked like a champion, just leading his pack.

His eyes?how they twinkled! his attitude how merry! His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the whiskers on his chin were as white as the snow.
He was in shape and athletic, a right jolly old elf, And Pettine laughed when he saw him, in spite of himself!
A wink of his eye and a twist of his head,
Soon gave him to know he had nothing to dread.
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work, And filled up the scoreboard with TDs; then turned with a jerk.
And moving his Fingers gave the money sign, He gave a nod to the dawg pound, who knew the season was going to be fine!
He sprang towards the locker room, to his team gave a whistle,
And away they all flew like the down of a thistle. And I heard him exclaim, as he ran out of sight, "Happy playoffs to all, and to all a Good-Night!"

    Great bluez!!

THIS IS WHY CLEVELAND BROWNS FANS ARE THE BEST IN THE WORLD AND STICK TOGETHER THROUGH EVERYTHING!!

I want to give an orange and brown shout out to Lym and bluez for showing EXACTLY what it is all about!!

The two that have some of the biggest fears/doubts about Manziel, however, just as any dysfunctional family...SUPPORT unconditionally their/our Cleveland Browns!!!

I would like to thank you both for your honest opinions shared throughout the process and most of all your undying support of this team we all love, by putting those opinions aside to support this kid now on his debut. I KNOW that you are wanting nothing more than for him to lead this team to many future victories, despite your past issues/doubts or even the simple feeling there was a better option than him.

When it comes down to team loyalty, the Cleveland Browns have the best fans in the WORLD!!! I for one am honored and proud to be a part of this family!!!
