Extra Points ? Under cover: The week of quarterback debate obscured another potential position change on the Browns. They?ve been giving equal reps at center this week to Nick McDonald and Ryan Seymour. And it has nothing to do with the ankle injury that knocked McDonald out of the Buffalo game in the first quarter. Seymour, in his first NFL appearance, wound up playing 51 of the 69 offensive snaps and finished the game even though McDonald was cleared to return during the game. Coach Mike Pettine said the team has not decided which center will start the game Sunday against the Colts. ?To me, it?s similar to the quarterback situation, but a little less glamour position,? Pettine said. ?It?s all about competition. You go with the guy that gives you the best chance to win.? If Seymour should win the job, he would be the fourth man to start a game at center this year following Alex Mack, John Greco and McDonald. Enter at your own risk: In separate interviews from Indianapolis, former Browns Josh Cribbs and Trent Richardson each said they would jump into the Dawg Pound in celebration if they scored in that end zone. Not surprisingly, Pettine and defensive coordinator Jim O?Neil don?t expect the Pound denizens to welcome them with open arms. Pettine: ?We don?t want anyone with a horseshoe on their helmet in the end zone. It doesn?t matter who they are. We?re hoping that they would be greeted appropriately if those circumstances did occur.? O?Neil: ?I think the Dawg Pound would have a response to that. They might end playing the rest of the game with beer all over them, or something. If they want to do that, maybe it?ll slow them down for us.? Love for Haden: After a slow start in the Pettine defense, cornerback Joe Haden has ?found his groove.? ?I think he?s the best cornerback in football,? said O?Neil. ?You look at his last month. He?s gone against Vincent Jackson, A.J. Green, Julio Jones, Sammy Watkins and Andre Johnson. And he?s played pretty damn well against those receivers.? While Haden hasn?t been assigned coverage to those receivers every play in those games, he has had primary coverage. Here is how they have fared: Jackson, 6 catches for 86 yards; Green, 3 for 23; Jones, 5 for 68 and 1 TD; Watkins, 3 for 11; Johnson, 7 for 68. In those games, Haden has three interceptions, nine pass breakups and one fumble recovery. He also blocked a field goal try in Buffalo. ?To me, it?s been kind of a hallmark of our style of defense, our system, to have that type of corner that you can lock down one receiver or one side of the field and be able to kind of allocate resources coverage wise elsewhere,? Pettine said. ?To me, it?s high level. He?s just improved as the year?s gone on.? Brownie bits: Running back Isaiah Crowell (hip), who did not practice Wednesday, returned to practice on Thursday ? Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor confirmed the Browns worked out kickers this week, but downplayed it as routine ?protocol? and expressed faith in Billy Cundiff, who has missed four of his last nine tries (including one from 60 yards). ?Billy Cundiff will be our kicker and he?ll do a great job for us,? Tabor said ? While tight end Jordan Cameron practiced again, Pettine remarked, ?We?re optimistic, cautiously, that he can go, but we?ve been here before.? Cameron has missed five straight games with recurring concussion symptoms. With Gary Barnidge out with a rib injury, it?s possible the only active tight ends Sunday will be Jim Dray and Ryan Taylor. ?Losing Gary is tough. It?s something we?ll have to overcome. If we only have Dray and Taylor, we can manage,? Pettine said ? Pettine said that special teams core player Johnson Bademosi, who leads with nine tackles on ?teams, deserves consideration for the Pro Bowl ? Linebacker Karlos Dansby practiced a second day in a row and has the coaches optimistic he might be able to return just three weeks after suffering a Grade 2 sprain of an MCL ? Pettine said that receiver Miles Austin returned from a Buffalo-area hospital and expects him to make a full recovery in the offseason from a lacerated kidney injury.
Man I love early draft talk. Yahoo has the best 1st rd draft for us yet I think. 14. Browns- LB Mckinney Mississippi St. 15. Bills- WR Funchess Michigan These are 2 wholes to fill on each side of the ball.
another UofM WR? haven't we learned our lesson? lol. jk I like Funchess. Not sure if I like him that much though....I'd much rather go after Cooper.
What just happened? lol! Part of the beauty of this season is, we don't have to talk about the draft yet!! i got sucked in for a second anyway. lol! Ya gotta admit, it is nice having more important things to talk about than the draft at this point.... Shots all around on that....Jaeger Bombs for everyone! The game this Sunday is pretty simple really. We have to play "lights out" D, and we gotta run the football with authority. The Browns have shown on a couple occassions against quality opponents (Cincy, Pit.) that if they can do that, they can beat anybody....The Colts are only one game ahead of Cleveland in the standings. It doesn't seem like it, and most of the national media is giving the Browns no shot to win this week.....This is probably why I like our chances. Hoyer does seem to play his best in these situations. One thing that you can be critical of Andrew Luck about is his propensity to turn the ball over. I know he's been on fire, but maybe the Dawg Pound can cool him off....
you betcha . I could realy get used to this [:} Duf set em up . TD I will do a yager bomb with you ..against my better judgement . I think the last time I got into those I ended up chasing parked cars and never catching them *HIGH* after that its bourbon on the house of ones choice . as usual gimme a Makers on the rocks with a Sam Adams light to wash it down with . the Colts game is winnable . we need some turn overs and we have to take advantage of them . the Colts will more than likely put up over 20 + on the board . we have to respond . I hope the ground game gets going . that would go a long way in winning . get pressure on Luck but keep in mind he can hurt you with his legs . I would rather take my chances with the Colts running game over letting Luck get into a rhythm throwing the ball . don't let TRich in the endzone .if he does do something stupid like jump in the pound *ROSE* *STOP* WOOF WOOF WOOF ...Lets Goooo Browns !
Well Bluez, to be honest, because of some pretty serious ulcer issues that have cropped up on me this year, I can't actually do shots anymore anyway. lol! It just sounded SO freakin good though...It sucks getting older. Tell ya what, I have a new found respect for stomach ulcers. I had no idea. Don't know if any of you guys have ever had to deal with that shit, but I wouldn't wish it on anybody....I've been in and out of the hospital about 7 times since March....Not fun at all. For one thing, who the hell knew all the places Doctors can go with little cameras these days? My gawd, nothing is sacred...jus sayin.
TD ..I havent had to deal with those but these damn back surgeries have got old ..FAST . lets have one anyway . at this point in time whats it going to do kill us ? modern medicine my ass *NO*
The last time I got into them, I had to hitch rides with other people for 6 months. *STOP* They have Doctors for that too! They can make you a perfect azzhole.
