Haden! I'm telling you guys he is highly over rated! There's one of the big plays he will give up today.TD! We have to contain their passing game.
Haden with a nice pick, lol but I still think he is over rated.lol! Hoyer just missed another throw then fumbled a snap after our fumble recovery. He missed Gordon by 3 feet. He misses a WR by 3-5 feet every game. Defense is shutting down the run. They just need to keep the WR's quite. Gordon looks like a man playing with boys. GET HIM THE BALL! The question is can Hoyer do that? GOOOO BROWNIES, so far so good!
Browns find a way to finish an ugly game with a win. This team is learning how to be a winner, pretty awesome to see.
HAHA!!! Walked in the door just in time to see that last drive!! Yes, he had some bone head throws today, but that last drive was a thing of beauty...I have said it before and I'll say it until he is no longer a Cleveland Brown, Hoyer NEEDS up temp/hurry offense in order to run it efficiently. He is CANNOT run a traditional pocket offense. But put him in up tempo, and he looks like a different QB. Only one thing I care about... BROWNS WIN BROWNS WIN!!
Brian Hoyer appeared to open the door to calls for a quarterback change in the fourth quarter on Sunday, but he wound up slamming it shut before the final seconds could tick off the clock. Hoyer threw a pair of terrible interceptions in the final quarter, costing his team a chance for at least three points and setting the Falcons up with a chance to take the lead in the final minutes. The Falcons did take the lead on a 53-yard Matt Bryant field goal after the second interception, but some curious clock management by Mike Smith left Hoyer 44 seconds to come back down the field. Hoyer did just that. He completed passes to Miles Austin, Gordon, Gary Barnidge and Austin again to move the Browns into position for a 37-yard field goal. Billy Cundiff hit the kick and the Browns got a 26-24 win that they needed to stay in the thick of the race for playoff spots in the AFC. The Falcons elected to throw the ball deep on third-and-2 with 55 seconds left to play in the game, which meant the clock stopped when the ball fell incomplete. If they were willing to kick a 53-yarder, it might have benefitted them to run the ball and at least force the Browns to use a timeout to stop the clock. The Falcons also called a timeout before that deep pass to make a pair of decisions that wound up enhancing the Browns? chance to make comeback. The loss leaves them at 4-7 and they?ll fall behind the Saints in the NFC South if New Orleans can beat Baltimore this week. This being the 2014 NFC South, that?s hardly a sure thing and Atlanta may have only bruised their chances. Hoyer also threw an interception in the first half and had a rough day overall, but still finished 23-of-40 for 322 yards thanks to his work on the final drive. Gordon had eight catches for 120 yards, but he and Hoyer seemed to be on different pages for much of the day as they worked in a game situation for the first time. There were a bunch of plays left on the field that would make for a much richer Browns Offense if they can find a way to click with some more time together.
The Good: o A WIN! Sure, it was ugly but it's still a win. o I have to admit I was quite surprised with Josh Gordon. Didn't think he would fare well after all that time away. o The running game. It sure is nice to be able to generate over 5 yards per attempt. The Bad: o My support for Hoyer is starting to wane. Ya, he drove it down for the go ahead FG, but . . . my Gawd he played bad today. o The Falcons running game. It looked like us when Trent Richardson was back there. o Mike Smith's use of the play clock. How in the hell was this team in first place of anything? The Ugly: o Tashaun Gibson's injury. {sigh} Looks like there may be another "Next Man Up"
ATLANTA, Ga. -- Just how did the Browns win this game? I know, Billy Cundiff drilled that 37-yard field goal on the final play. But tell me again, how did the Browns win? The final score was Browns 26, Atlanta 24. But admit it, with 44 seconds left, you thought this game was over. OK, I thought the game was over. The Browns were losing, 24-23. They had the ball on their own 20. In their last two possessions, Brian Hoyer had thrown interceptions. As coach Mike Pettine said, "We tried to give it away." But somehow, they took it back. YES, THEY DID WIN! Somehow, just when I didn't want to see Hoyer throw another pass, he led the Browns on perhaps their most important drive of the season. Somehow, they zipped up the field -- 66 yards on five plays. Here's what kind of game it was: Playing his first game this season, 23-year-old Josh Gordon was telling Hoyer to "calm down" as they prepared for the last drive. And Hoyer did! His first pass of the final drive wasn't even close. Then Hoyer drilled an 11-yarder to Miles Austin ... a 24-yarder to Gordon ... a 15-yarder to Gary Barnidge ... an 11-yarder to Austin. Boom ... boom ... boom ... boom. Four completions in 33 seconds after missing on his first pass. Just like that, Hoyer and Cundiff turned a heart-breaking loss into a heart-throbbing victory. "After the game, I told the guys that I couldn't be prouder of them," said Pettine. That was not an endorsement of how everyone played. But as Pettine has said several times this season, "The NFL is a pass/fail league." The Browns earned a passing grade just when it appeared their passing game was failing them. gordon-328x246.jpg You'd never know Josh Gordon missed the first 10 games because of his suspension. He caught eight passes for 120 yards. Joshua Gunter, The Plain Dealer HOYER'S TRIALS I never expected him to unravel quite like this -- three interceptions, all of them extremely poor, panic-driven throws. Admit it, with 44 seconds left, you thought this game was over. Even more distressing, there was no reason for Hoyer to uncork any of those passes. My guess is Pettine can't quite figure out what Hoyer was thinking on some of those throws, either. But on that last drive, Hoyer "came up big time," according to Pettine. It sure helped to have Gordon back. He caught eight passes for 120 yards. Sometimes, Hoyer seemed fixated on Gordon. He threw to him 16 times. Two interceptions were poor heaves in Gordon's direction. Hoyer was 23-of-40 for 322 yards. Zero touchdowns, three interceptions, a 52.3 rating. Usually numbers like that get you beat. But they didn't for the Browns. THE CROW FLIES This team will drive their fans absolutely insane. And it's 7-4. This team had a return to the running game. This team had a young man named Isaiah Crowell ... I mean, ISAIAH CROWELL! Did you see that 26-yard touchdown run? He was hit about three times. He spun, faked and scored. This was one of the most electric Browns runs in years. It was done in his home state, where Crowell was perhaps the best high school running back in the country once upon a time. Crowell also had an 11-yard TD bolt in the first quarter. The undrafted rookie had 88 yards in 12 carries. Fellow rookie Terrance West ran for 62 yards in his 14 carries as the Browns rolled for 162 yards on the ground, making me wonder why offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan kept calling so many passing plays. Especially with Hoyer having so many problems. Shanahan should have called more runs because it was working. But in the end, it worked out. TEAM EFFORT Despite playing without defensive captain Karlos Dansby (knee), that unit had some superb moments. Joe Haden had an interception. Paul Kruger had two sacks, forced a fumble and was a monster for Atlanta blockers. On one play, Kruger was knocked flat, dragged himself back to his feet and still sacked quarterback Matt Ryan. The Browns held Atlanta to only 63 yards rushing, and the defense didn't fall apart when it seemed the offense was doing just that. This is the fifth game played by the Browns decided by three or fewer points. They are 3-2 when nail-biters nearly turn into finger-eaters. Maybe that's how they won -- they did just enough things right, and did them when it meant the most.
couldn't watch today, but checked in a few times to find us up 13 / 7, then down 14 / 13, then up 23 / 16. got out of work and saw we eked out a 2 point win. I've been reading the posts and the recap to get a handle on how it went down. Hoyer tossing 4 INTs is disturbing. His claim to the job being the "level headed, mistake free" option, is slipping. Then he engineers his 5th comeback Win? Tickerts for the Roller Coaster Ride in Cleveland are "hot". Sounds like Josh won't be needing a warn up game. Sign me up for an all day pass. Browns 7 and 4. Awesome. Grinning ear to ear. Lets go hunt Bison.
MAN! A win is a win! I've said on here that I would be very happy if the Browns ended up 7-9. My Gosh they will at least end the season at that now! That means Farmer has done his job! This team talent wise is much improved. Is there positions that need improvement? Hell yes there is. But now we can see those positions and Rome wasn't built in a day!lol Gordon is beast mode. I've said it before and I'll say it again. He is the best WR in the game. Like he did today he will bust open the running game. No more 8 men in the box! That's why I think one of those positions of need is a right side lineman. Guard or tackle. That will only make our running game even better. I love those running backs. Farmer did one hell of a job finding those 2 young men. It's nice to see he can find talent like that. This year no Gordon BS and he can make his plan and ATTACK in the draft. Well lounge houndz get ready for a wild one. We have Buffalo, Indy, Balt, Cinncy and Car left. I honestly think we need to beat Indy, Balt. and Cinncy and we are in. I have my Colts tickets already. My dad, brother and I are going. After this Buffalo win things will get wild here in Cleveland and I'll be damned to miss that! So here we go fellas rounding 3rd and heading home! GO BROWNS!!!!!!!!!!!
I also just saw one of the stories on yahoo that said Hoyer is bummed after the win. It also says that Manziel is looming. The national media isn't commenting on the 7-4 Browns turn around. They are talking about how bad Hoyer looks. Yahoo even mentioned that Hoyer is playing himself out of a job. Yes I am excited about the Browns record but i am not happy with Hoyer. Matter of fact I would only bring him back to be a backup!
will the Bills game be played in Buffalo ? they may have to move a second game with all the flooding . my heart goes out to those in Western NY .
So far... If you were President of the organization, would you want to lose two home games on your watch? I pray for the people in the area, these flood conditions are a real concern. Hopefully they make it through the next 48 hours, then they should be over the hump, Tuesday storm not withstanding... As for the players, they will probably be playing mostly on adrenaline tomorrow night. I do believe their game against the Browns, no matter where they play, will be difficult on them. The Browns need that game, I don't like to prey on bad luck, but I will take any leg up we can to try and keep pace in the AFC North.
I may be going to Buffalo depending on the weather. I'll be 2 hours away for thanksgiving!! Lets go Browns!! Hoyer redeems himself yet again.
