  19. Hoyer is below average. Not a starter. Shouldn't get paid like one! Yes he doesn't make very many mistakes but he isnt a starter. After this week we will be 6-4. If this team goes 6-6 on a 3 game losing streak then its time for Manziel. I hope it doesnt get to that but its possible. At some point we have to see what JF can do. We will go from 1st to worst in this division in 1 game. It looked like Mallett was better than Hoyer today. Stronger arm.

    GOOO BROWNS!

  20. Like many of you right about now I'm tired of this roller coaster ride. I have to admit it is one hell of a ride and also fun but today this team looked lost again. Bluez mentioned coaching, QB play, defense, WR play and the whole team for that matter, lol. Unless your defense is the 85 bears or 75 steelers your QB's play is the most important skill position on the team.

Now I am a line first upfront type guy. Offensive and defensive. As group positions go these are the most important. As you all know if the line cant protect the QB or open holes for the RB then you will go backwards. You have to put pressure on the QB and stop the running game to win. I always figured if a team has a good defense, can run the ball and has a QB that takes care of the ball you should win more than you lose.

After I cooled down from this embarrassment of a game I tried to remember if we did the above things. This is what I came up with.

    1. The defense got ran all over. As Bluez said the Browns got him elected into the Hall of Fame today.
    2. We couldn't run the ball. They shut our running game down.

Now that shows me the O-line and D-line got man handled. Yes Mack is out and Watts abuses everybody But their linebackers picked up the slack. Both our lines took an arse whipping today.

We had no pressure on Mallett today. They also ran all over us. Once they could run at will it opened up the passing game.We couldn't run so no passing game. Think Jacksonville. Hoyer couldn't beat them. He couldn't beat Houston here today.

Now a no mistake QB. Hoyer is winning in a die hard, football hungry city. He is 6-4 now as starter. But to me it looks a little misleading. Hoyer throws an ugly ball. He is not consistent with his throws. Sometimes he's right on and sometimes he misses by 5 feet. It's hard for me to be to negative about him but I don't see him leading us to the promise land (playoffs) this year. He is to inconsistent. When the game is on the line I don't want the ball in his hands. Not in fear of interception but a poorly thrown incomplete that could kill a drive. To me Hoyer would be a very good backup. He would give you a true chance at winning at least half the time he plays. For a backup that's all you could ask for.

I'm not saying here that Manziel is better. I obviously don't know that. I know he is more mobile, more athletic and has a stronger arm. But that's about it. But sometime before this season is over Manziel has to play. Whether we go 6-9 and he plays in the final game or we go 10-5 and he plays the final game. I am not sold on Hoyer being our future franchise QB. So thinking that we all need to see if Manziel can play NFL football. If he can, resign Hoyer as a backup. If not I say draft one. But Hoyer in my eyes is not a starter.

    As always GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO BROWNIES!
