The Browns will waive free safety Eric Hagg today, a league source confirmed for the Beacon Journal. Adam Caplan of TheSidelineView.com first reported the news. Hagg, a seventh-round draft pick in 2011, started the first two games of the 2012 season before he was demoted. He later started the final two games of the season after T.J. Ward, Tashaun Gipson and Usama Young suffered injuries. This offseason, the Browns have inserted Gipson into the top slot on their depth chart at free safety. T.J. Ward is locked in as the starting strong safety. The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Hagg started four of the 12 games in which he appeared last season and tallied 22 tackles and a pass defensed. As a rookie in 2011, he played 10 games and compiled 10 tackles, a pass defensed and a fumble recovery.
i was in a SP (Self Propelled " artillery unit . my M109 Howitzer weighed in at 26 ton but we still had 5 ton trucks that followed us . they carried ammo & other supplies needed . they weren't small . after one doosie of a storm came up while we were out in the field training . all piled in the Howitzers or the M 548 carriers except for a couple guys who chose to climb in there 5 ton trucks . after it passed we looked out to see the 5 tons had been tossed around like toys . lucky non of those guys suffered serious injuries . it is just crazy out there weather wise .i had no intentions of staying in Oklahoma after i got out of the Army .
ESPN is laying off a portion of its staff today, a network spokesman confirms to us. How many? ESPN won't say. A tipster told us earlier today that it would be more than 400 staffers. A source at ESPN said that number is a little high, but it appears to be in the hundreds. Here's the statement from ESPN: We are implementing changes across the company to enhance our continued growth while smartly managing costs. While difficult, we are confident that it will make us more competitive, innovative and productive. So where in the world did this come from? ESPN is monstrously profitable and we hadn't heard a word about this until this morning. Well, ESPN has been gobbling up live rights to events left and right, and those rights are really expensive. We've heard they needed to reduce costs as a result. Also: ESPN's parent company Disney is apparently asking all divisions to cut costs. This is ESPN's first major staff reduction since 2009. We heard the technology group is getting hit pretty hard: at least 40 layoffs are coming there. A source told us that some employees who get a pink slip today can continue working through the end of the week if they'd like. ESPN has 7,000 employees.
May our prayers go to Oklahoma. I see Vegas has the over and under at 6 for the Brownies. Ill take over. I think we are going to split with Pukesburg, Baltimore and Cinncy. That would put us half way there just about. All I'm looking for is 7 wins. something to build for the future.

Browns claimed RB Miguel Maysonet off waivers from the Eagles. It's not a good landing spot for the well-regarded undrafted free agent, as the Browns have one of the deeper running back corps in the league. Maysonet could have trouble surviving first cuts.
Deep, Blues?? This is the listing from the official Cleveland Browns site. It is already updated as, Maysonet is on it. I would say we have invested in a bunch of bodies, but do not have depth. Beyond Richardson what is there? Brandon Jackson was active for 1 game last year; Ogbonnaya is a decent back up; Hardesty has shown that he can consistently do two things well:1. Fumble 2. get hurt; Dion Lewis is a COP back, 3rd down back, whatever you want to call him, i call him "insurance for Travis Benjamin". My thinking is this...If Maysonet shows he can carry the rock a little, and tackle on ST, we could end up rolling with a 4th RB. Im thinking this by connecting the Dots on hearing and seeing what the coaches are doing. Norv has come out and said that he doent see a true FB on the team, but see players that can fill the roll (a la Alex Smith), we have also seen corners rotating out as an over-the-top safety, this could open up a spot at the bottom of the roster for a "player" to make the team.
By Zac Jackson Fox Sports Ohio Posted May 21, 2013 Notably bringing back RB Brandon Jackson and signing their first draft pick, sixth-round S Jamoris Slaughter. 0 Comments CLEVELAND -- The Browns made a handful of roster moves Tuesday, most notably bringing back RB Brandon Jackson and signing their first draft pick, sixth-round S Jamoris Slaughter. Waived were S Eric Hagg, who made two starts last year, LB Ryan Rau and RB Robbie Rouse. Rau was a spring waiver claim from the Eagles and Rouse was an undrafted rookie who signed during minicamp 10 days ago. Also signed were a pair of undrafted rookies, WR Michael Edwards and DB Kenronte Walker. In another switch announced later in the day, the Browns claimed undrafted rookie RB Miguel Maysonet off waivers from the Eagles and released RB Jamaine Cook, a Youngstown State alum from nearby Middleburg Heights. The Browns are thin at safety but were quick to move on from Hagg. They're counting on Slaughter to get healthy after a torn Achilles cost him all but three games of his final college season. Jackson was signed in 2011 after starting his career as a backup in Green Bay. He got hurt in 2011 training camp and missed the whole season. He played in two games last year, running for 54 yards on 8 carries. Zac Jackson appears courtesy of FoxSportsOhio.
I had hopes that Rouse would make the roster or at least the PS . the little guy intrigues me .oh well so much for that . we still have Lewis . i hope the odd man out is Hardesty who like dogside said cant catch . fumbles . cant stay healthy or block . how the bum survived this long surprises me . i hated the pick on draft day and after watching her play i hated her more . granted Hardesty was never healthy so why waste a pick on a broken down back in the first place let alone trade back up to pick him ? not one of Heckerts best moves .
*HI* HAPPY HUMP DAY Lounge Houndz *HI* I?ll buy the next round. Duff I?ll take another supersized mug of Bluez?s Makers Mark. *DRINK* *CRAZY* Crex?s food for thought *WRITE* I have to admit that I am a bit excited about this guy. This guy averaged 151 yds/game, and over 7yds/carry his senior year. He scorched Div I school Syracuse for 158 yds and a score. More impressive that as the workhorse for stony brook and never missed a game due to injury. I could see him getting a spot on the roster. *THUMBSUP*
bluez, I know you hate this kid(in football terms of course)...but you repeatedly talk about his injury history and I repeatedly correct it. Hardesty had one knee injury costing him two surgeries his redshirt freshman year...He was relatively healthy the next four years, but was a backup to the likes of Arian Foster(ever heard of him?) Then had his breakout his Senior year after Foster left...THAT is what led to his being drafted and the best available RB after Ben Tate was drafted...This all during a time of HUGE RB need for the Browns. Yes, he went on to get injured as a rookie, which is where the real animosity stems from...but the college injury "history" is no worse than 75% of the other crop of rookies drafted every year in every round...They all have a "history". Adrian Peterson had a college injury "history" and see where that got him...
I would like to see him catch the ball better, but I thought Hardesty looked pretty good last year. He looked fast to me.....If Trent Richardson were to go down with an injury, having a healthy Hardesty on the roster could be big. I'm just not ready to give up on him yet....Still haven't seen him get the opportunity to play in an actual functioning NFL offense. Norv Turner's system should certainly help. He may prove to be hidden gem on this team as a change of pace back for T. Rich....Alot of folks didn't approve of Tom Heckert's trade up to get him in the draft, and things really soured when he hurt his knee before the season even started. So it's easy to see why some Browns fans are ready to bail on him...Not me. Chit happens. It's part of football..No position is more physically demanding than RB....Maybe this will be his year. Keeping fingers crossed...
Two things you hit on TD... A) "He looked fast"...don't forget he was a SEC track star B) "Still haven't seen him get the opportunity to play in an actual functioning NFL offense."...This is what excites me the most about the entire roster. I think we have an opportunity in 2013 to identify who can play professional football on this team based solely on the Norv Turner hire. We might not have any...but they will be given every opportunity and if they can't perform, then we will know exactly what we need to go out and get in the 2014 offseason! I just have a good feeling about the offensive side of the ball going into this year. All of these guys have played together for a full season and will have the best play caller in professional football on their sidelines on Sunday. Once Again....could very well be the homer in me that rears it's ugly head consistently, but I am excited to see how this team progresses throughout this season. I am hoping for 7 wins, but would not be shocked to see 10 wins if it comes together sooner than later.
By Steve Doerschuk We were cleaning the rubble on our desk. It?s amazing how much tonnage one packrat can decide not to throw away. We came to the 2008 Sporting News draft magazine. There was the report on the guards. A kid from Toledo was ranked as the best. John Greco, the report said of the No. 1 guard, was the same kind of player as Logan Mankins (a four-time All-Pro now). ?Greco is an attention grabber with his fierce competitiveness and athletic ability. He should become a productive NFL starter.? He?s in his sixth year without ever really ever having had the chance from the start of a season. He?d probably like that. He might get it. We flipped a few pages. There were the fullbacks. Peyton Hillis was No. 1. ?The more film of Hillis you watch,? went one line, ?the more he grows on you.? Growth can be a long story. We came to the wide receivers section ... and almost quit before turning a page where Davone Bess was listed as No. 38 in the group, 10 spots behind Paul Hubbard. ?Bess was highly productive in college, but some of that can be attributed to Hawaii?s pass-happy system.? Turns out a lot of it can be attributed to Bess. It was on to the defensive tackles. Maybe Phil Savage didn?t steal Ahtyba Rubin in Round 6. Rather, he collected a player who was due to be drafted much earlier. The book had Rubin tagged as the fourth-best man in his group, a third-round value. ?Rubin fits best as a nose tackle in a power 3-4 or a nose tackle in a 4-3 that uses a nose-tackle-under tackle system.? Wouldn?t we all like to know if he fits so well in whatever Ray Horton is cooking up that the Cleveland defense will be a Smokin Joe? There was more. There was much more organizing to do, though. Here?s a mental note to see how some of the other draft analysis plays when we dust off the magazine again in 2018. ? ? ? Dom Capers, who has been around the world and sailed the NFL's seven seas, gave us some interesting takes on Larry Kehres, the 2013 Browns, Clay Matthews and A.J. Hawk.
Yes Hardesty flashed a little last year . about time after three years in the league .i dont have the faith in him that some of you do . we need the depth and this regime is going after it . if you are depending on Hardesty to stay healthy . catch . block & not fumble the ball your fooling yourself . i feel as strongly that he must go or should have been gone as SAS does about Weeds. av bet that Hardesty doesnt make it to the final roster ? if he makes it :! ..i will wear a Hardesty av for A week . thats to long but i will do it . if he doesnt make it whoever bets me doesent have to change a thing . win win for whomever . but i feel that he will be out the door . at least i hope so .
i think your right Irish why cant they win around 8 games this season if they stay healthy and Weeds does what i think he will . make a huge leap right along with the WR corps . i am excited about the future .....no matter who owns us next year ..damn Haslam *WALL*
Irish i hope your right and that i am wrong about Hardesty .if he can be the back you think he can be that would be awsome . every team needs at least three backs that can contributr . Norv loves the power run game which i do as well . one man can't carry the load the whole season . they need a breather to keep them fresh all season long . Lewis is a scat back type . Oby can catch & block . B Jac is kind of a do all back . the Browns may kep 4 backs on the active roster this year .i really wish they would expand the gameday roster from 45 to 50 .
