  1. neanderthal ike Special Teams Jets

I wish my green team of unlovable losers were having the kind of season that the second take by the lake is.

I am a sufferer of Brown envy.

Hoyer plays just well enough to win. Geno plays well enough to just suck nuts.

Manziel would be the best QB on the Jets roster.

    That is not a compliment.

Crex, I agree that losing this game doesn't end the season, but I firmly believe it will hit the fan base very hard. We are not a patient lot, and frankly many fans are most likely waiting to see if they can win this one before they dig their jerseys out of the cellar. A loss just reinforces the SOB (same old Browns) mantra. A little flash then a flame out when the games become truly meaningful.

5 and 4 certainly doesn't preclude a playoff berth, but puts a big hole in the balloon.

It's hard to be a believer after the last three games, but an ugly W will go a long way toward breaking that mantra. A loss will be tough to take, but not a season changer. A win on the other hand.............

Was watching ESPN yesterday and I had to chuckle when they were doing their "midseason" awards....defensive rookie of the year; Khalil Mack. lol!

Not only that, but Herm Edwards and the rest of the crew agreed..so i think that makes it extra special...

    just sayin....

Sheesh, I step out for a few hours and everyone comes out of the woodwork!!

Now TD, we spend way too much time making fun of ESPN and their lack of anything resembling integrity and all of a sudden you want to use them as a valid source since they agree with something you said?

    For shame, for shame... ;D

Welcome to the Dawg Pound Lounge, Ike. Come on over any time. We enjoy hearing from fans other than ourselves.

(Most of the time :-X )

If you roll out the welcome mat for Ike you will find him passed out on your couch one day when you come home.

The fridge will be empty and the cat will be pregnant.

Congrads to the Browns for some long awaited success. *DRINK*

Ike AND apossum, you are both welcome in the lounge! We are used to people passing out, we just throw them in the men's room when it happens...You don't want that to happen, I assure you!

HAPPY CLEVELAND BROWNS FOOTBALL "THURSDAY" LOUNGERS!!!!

Time to tame the kitties and take our division back. It's been a long time coming!!!

    Irish, I figured you'd say that...That's why, to give credence, I mentioned former NFL head coach and a man of great integrity, Herm Edwards..C'mon now.This wasn't Merril Hodge and Trent Dilfer blathering on. It was Herman "Miracle of the Meadowlands" Edwards! lol! I think that DOES give validity...Ya can't mess with Herm, and ya can't just broad stroke away anything that comes from ESPN as being invalid because you don't like the network...I was all set to just let the whole thing go, and then here they come with the midseason awards. lol! You realize, it had to be mentioned....Oh well, as a great man once said;

"YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME"!

  11. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

Hey, the man is ONE Helluva motivational speaker and coach..But I believe the reason we don't see him on TV very much is his resilience to stick up for Tim Tebow, the football player...

I reiterate, Herm Edwards, motivational speaker, mentor and coach A+++

Herm Edwards, ESPN analyst, well...he does work for ESPN, that is all I have to say about that...lol

Here We Go Brownies, Here We Go!!!

That's laughable. Mack deserves it for what, being the best defensive player in the eyes of many before the draft?

CJ Mosley is actually having a Pro Bowl year.

  13. Go for it tonight Browns, first place is just well played games away, don't stop now. WOOF!!!! *DRINK*

The Cleveland Browns have a regular of series of "lasts" and "first time since" games.

Tuesday, Elias came up with a doozy

    That's right, a doozy.

Thursday night's game marks the first time the two will play since Dec. 14, 1986, that both Cincinnati and the Browns are over .500 at this point in the season.

    That's 28 years ago.

For the heck of it, here's a few tidbits from that game:
?Bernie Kosar started at quarterback for the Browns, Boomer Esiason for the Bengals.
?Kevin Mack led the Browns in rushing, Stanley Wilson led the Bengals.
?Webster Slaughter led the Browns in receiving, James Brooks led the Bengals.
?Sam Clancy had a sack and Hanford Dixon an interception for the Browns, the Bengals had no sacks or turnovers.
?Kosar completed 13-of-29 for 246 yards and a touchdown; nobody can recall any cries for his backup to play because he was below 50 percent.
?The Browns improved to 12-4 with a 34-3 win in Riverfront, the Bengals dropped to 10-6.
?The Browns went on to beat the Jets in that memorable playoff game, then lose to the Broncos 23-20 in the AFC Championship Game on that drive by whats-his-name at the end of the game.

  15. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

That's because he was the Browns supplemental #1 overall draft pick (not an undrafted journeyman backup), had already taken the Browns to the playoffs in his rookie season and had the Browns sitting at 11-4 (not 3-3 like Hoyer was after he went under 50% in 2 games straight) and won the AFC Central division, they were on their way to the AFC Championship game...

PLEASE, don't try comparing Hoyer to Kosar until he gets this team to an AFC Championship game....or at the very least a playoff win!!

I take that back...IF Hoyer wins tonight and takes this team to an AFC North Championship, then I believe EVERYONE will be on his bandwagon and calling for Farmer to do everything in his power to re-sign him.

  16. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

Pump your brakes there, Irish . . .

No where did the Elias article compare Kosar to Hoyer. It didn't compare ANYONE from 28 years ago to ANY of today's players.

What it DID do was compare fans from 28 years ago to fans of today.

Does anyone remember who Kosar's backup was? It was Mike Pagel. No wonder the fans weren't screaming.

  17. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

I'm not saying it was Elias...It may have been Duff...

But what was said was this:

This is in reference to some fans calling for Manziel after the Jaguars game...

    Not a big deal really...

BECAUSE IT IS CLEVELAND BROWNS FOOTBALL THURSDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wasn't me. I just copied and pasted.

I'm not a "pot-stirrer" and I certainly don't like throwing gas on any fires, except of course for our one poster who shall not be named lest he show back up. Kinda like looking in the mirror and saying Candyman's name 3 times.

  19. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

No worries Duff, he won't show up while the Browns are winning...
